There is one character from a film series that I was always curious about what happen to them. Angela "Angie" Ashford. She is the driving force for the story of Resident Evil: Apocalypse. She disappears from the films never to be heard or seen from again. Maybe her story is expanded on in the games but this isn’t the same continuity as the games.
The actress doesn't return but the character does, sort of, in the final installment. But you know by that last one I was in the headspace of "yeah that may as well happen". It's wild that Mila Jovovich and her husband Paul W.S. Anderson direct and star in movies together. To be clear the former does the latter and the latter does the former. At least I haven't heard about it happening often elsewhere.
#1 is spot-on. In fact, before the video ended, I was about to say 'Alien 3 is the worst example of getting rid of characters for the sequel.' The thing is, I think this was actually a conscious, but highly misguided, creative decision from the start, rather than a case of awkwardly making the best of a difficult set of circumstances (i.e. creative or financial disputes).
The idea of just dumping the characters is spot on however whoever wrote this did 0 research. Bishop is in the movie as much as he literally could have been. The Newt actress did quit but Michael Biehn had no conflict. He was in the majority of the scripts for Alien 3. But once Fox decided to write him out off screen he forced them to pay him an outrageous fee just to use his picture for the little bit of time it was on screen as payback
You’d think that in a lot of these cases where it ultimately came down to money, you’d swallow your pride a little bit and do it for the fans. Not to mention movies like the matrix and the godfather aren’t exactly throwaway films. It’s generally not a good idea to burn those kinds of bridges in Hollywood.
It seems to be getting more acclaim these days, but my pick for a sequel that doesn't get enough love is Gremlins 2. Not only did Joe Dante give the studio THE GREATEST 🖕in Hollywood history, but I feel like that movie was kinda one of the things that kicked off the sarcasm STUFFED humor that dominated the 90's!
Didn’t even realise there was a different name. I don’t think viewers would’ve immediate known what it was by “American wedding” I’m more surprised it wasn’t called American Pie: The wedding everywhere. Explains why it did so much poorer than expected in the US. 🤷♀️ here in the UK it’s American pie: the wedding.
If I remember correctly, I think the unrated cut has a quick line about Oz “being busy in California” but I could be wrong. And as for sequels that deserve more love: Escape from LA, RoboCop 2, Waynes World 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance.
You forgot all actors who played John Connor in Terminator for Terminator 6: Dark Fate (let simply kill John Connor even all franchise is actually based on him).
i figured that was simply due to a budget issue. having to pay angelina jolie, jackie chan, and lucy liu alone for a fourth time (and subsequently, 2 more times) would have been expensive.
I would have included Bruno Kirby in "City Slickers II: The Legend of Curly's Gold". I mean, it's a bad sequel anyway, but breaking up the three lifelong friends to bring in Jon Lovitz (an actor I love in the right role) just made it worse.
He didn’t come back supposedly because he was allergic to horses and didn’t want to have to go through the shot regime that he had to go through on a daily basis during the first movie!
I'd love a Hot Tub Time Machine sequel show with the original cast. The creator also made Cobra Kai reinventing a cinematic gem into a TV hit so why wouldn't he do the same with his own movie?
A movie not mentioned that bothered me was the Mighty Ducks movies. Especially the 3rd one with everyone from 2 returned except Jesse and Portman. They had an entire story arc about Portman and he surprised us at the end, but they made zero mention of Jesse and why he was suddenly gone.
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier deserves more respect. The premise was good, and the only real issue was more due to lack of special effects as ILM had committed its best teams to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Ghostbusters II. Plus, it survived and made a profit at the box office versus not only the two above mentioned films, but also against License to Kill and Tim Burton's Batman.
People only hate DAVID FINCHER'S Alien 3 for killing off Newt when Carrie Henn was retired from acting anyway, they kinda had to write her out of the story At least Hicks survived according to a video game people hate and I never played, but surely Hicks surviving is the game's redeeming factor right. As for Bishop, well another can just come off the assembly line lol 🤪 Now Alien Covenant killed off the character played by beautiful Noomi Rapace, they did it off screen too 🤬, dab nab it! Now Carrie Henn was retired, but Noomi was still in the business. If they ever make a sequel to Covenant, don't expect Katherine Waterson to have any different treatment. I know that's a highly unlikely scenario despite the cliffhanger ending, perhaps Ridley Scott should've wrap it up if he didn't have the studio bound by a three movie contract. Cliffhangers shouldn't be allowed unless resolution is guaranteed. I didn't even like Independence Day Resurgence, but i still need to know shat happens next dang it!!!!!
They had to write her out, the death was not mandatory. Feels bad to have Ripley save her and then kill her off screen between movies, probably should have come up with something else.
In the Men In Black comic book it is stated that Agent L was onboard an alien spacecraft to see the credentials of the aliens coming to Earth and to ensure they wouldn't be a problem. Agent J was speaking with aliens outside the trip and out of nowhere the alien spacecraft blasted off with Agent L still onboard and Agent J unable to stop it from taking off as it all happened in an instant. So that was the explanation for what happened to Agent L. Now, all that is known is she was kidnapped, but no one knows if she was killed, if shes still onboard the craft, flying around in space or if she was dropped off on another planet to be their slave or just to live her life. Perhaps a future comic will fill us in.
i say this as someone who (somewhat) enjoyed the live action transformers movies. the humans were definitely the least appealing aspect of most of those movies (with bumblebee being the exception). it was definitely cool to see them fighting alongside the autobots but individual characters being the star like shia lebeouf and mark wahlberg? thanks but no thanks.
*C.S. Lewis cut Susan Pevensie from the end of the Narnia series thusly:* “Sire,” said Tirian, when he had greeted all these. “If I have read the chronicle aright, there should be another. Has not your Majesty two sisters? Where is Queen Susan?” “My sister Susan,” answered Peter shortly and gravely, “is no longer a friend of Narnia.” *He later wrote to a child who asked about the fate of Susan, saying:* The books don’t tell us what happened to Susan. She is left alive in this world at the end, having been turned into a rather silly, conceited young woman. But there is plenty of time for her to mend, and perhaps she will get to Aslan’s country in the end-in her own way. I think that whatever she had seen in Narnia she could (if she was the sort that wanted to) persuade herself, as she grew up, that it was ‘all nonsense’
I'd have thought that Tom Hagan would be number one (and Clemenza had also failed to make it to Part II; MIchael V Gazzo took the comparable role and got an Oscar nomination); Next & Hicks were lost in a plausible way, and Bishop did make it to ALIEN3 to explain how. Sue Rohan didn't make it from HOPE AND GLORY to QUEEN AND COUNTRY, and no explanation was given
Linda Fiorentino DID have a scheduling conflict, as she was contracted to being Kevin Smith's film Dogma. Kevin has been on record several times talking about how difficult she was to work with, because she wanted to be in the MiB and not Dogma. He said that he wished he had cast Janeane Garofalo for the Fiorentino's roll instead, especially after Fiorentino refused to do any press or show up for the premiere, unlike Garofalo did press for the film despite only being in one scene. Whomever does your research needs to stop being lazy and trying to appeal to gossipy bullshit.
Honestly, Newt being sixteen instead of ten, after being in suspended animation, is probably the easiest thing to get around, just from a malfunctioning pod. Just look at how they handled Lion-O in the pilot of Thundercats.
Jaws 2 is so underrated because of how amazing and groundbreaking jaws was. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that jaws 2 is anywhere close to being as good as jaws but as a shark movie it’s is easily the second best ever made
I personally consider the animated series, "Men in Black: The Series" the official canon for the franchise, and the movies simply AU/Alternate Universe... Even if the cartoon was itself the AU, given the ending of the first film. A universe where K never had himself neuralized, stayed as J's mentor, and L stayed in the MiB and grew as a character within it.
Will Smith was never asked to come back for the second Independence Day. They said they were afraid to approach for fear that his asking price was too high. By the time word got to him as they were filming already, he stated he would have done it for free. The misquote of him chasing money at DC is totally wrong. Will Smith agreed to Jersey Girl when Bruce Willis wanted too much, and he even cameos in Winter’s Tale. It’s not about the money but go off I guess.
wow, were all getting different reasons. i thought the reason was he already committed to doing suicide squad instead and both were filming simultaneously.
They kinda mention OZ not being at Jim's wedding in American Reunion. They don't say why though. At one point Oz just says "Hey, I missed your wedding, i wasn't gonna miss this." Doesn't really matter since American Wedding was the shittiest one of the bunch, so really Klein benefited from missing out on that crap.
Oz beong missing at the wedding isnt really odd at all. I havent been at any of my school friends weddings. Even the people I was best friends with. You get older and move on. None of my friends now still hang out with their school friends on fact.
If I had to venture a guess I would say that they were dropped because Alec Baldwin was not interested in returning or they didn't want him to. Whether that would have been motivated by budget concerns or concerns over the whole accidental death thing is anyone's guess. I don't know for sure though, didn't follow the production at all.
i read somewhere in an interview where they didnt even consider them because they were never the focus of the overall story. plus, it basically makes sense for them to eventually move onwards. what else was there for them to do now that lydia is a grown adult, has her own child, out of that home, and making her own decisions?
It was explained in the movie that they found a loophole and moved on. From a logistic standpoint just the aging of the actors that should still look the ages they died would be an issue. With Beetlejuice's make up it's far less of an issue. And is the reason their cameo they originally thought of doing was cut.
Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving absence on the matrix 4 is also disgusting, in fact the whole movie is disgusting.. not only we get a dollar tree version of Morpheus, but we also got a dollar tree version on Agent Smith, only this time we got it on a black friday deal because what the hell that's not Agent Smith
Let's be honest, Robert duvall didn't warrant as much as pacino would get but I can understand him feeling slighted at receiving a fifth of the fee. Half would've been fair as he was an integral part of the first 2 films and behind pacino, the most established cast member had he been in the 3rd.
Smith he's a pretty easy director to get along with, only Bruce Willis was considered a pain to work with other then Fiorentino according to him. But hindsight finding out what kind of medical issue that Willis was going through that explains why he was a pain to work with.
I NEVER liked kevin from american pie!! 100% couldve gotten rid of that goob for Oz!! Edit: im glad the kid wasnt in magic mike 2, that movie was so sad and the 2nd one was so much happier and fun!! The best thing about the first one was Olivia Munn!!🥰🥰
Now, if by some weird alignment of the planets and they do find a way to make a third Independence Day movie, and by a butterfly getting squashed at the other side of the world and Will Smith signs on for it, they could very well say that the alien hybrid fighter jet mimicked what looked like an explosion, but was in fact a teleportation eruption that sent Captain Hiller to the alien planet, in turn allowing the actor to come back and undoing the death. No chance in hell of an Independence Day movie ever happening again, though.
I think your missing a key to A3, most do...SW/ER was the star, and we were introduced to Waylan...which spawned the Alien saga we have 2day...better one should die for the many??? ;p
Alex Pettyfer deserves no decent role. He’s an angry little man who was proven to have been a domestic abuser during 2011. Around the time the first movie was filmed. I’m sure it had little to do with Tatum not liking him and a lot to do with a movie with an all male lead that’s aimed at women not wanting to look like it supports DV. 🤨🤷♀️ Having him in number 2 would ensure that males were the target audience and they weren’t.
The one sequel I always lift up is "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder." I think it's a decent sequel, nowhere near the first film but absolutely better than the second film. "Hero of the Federation" is weak.

@@GregOrCreg oh ok i also prefer it to BVS
Guilty pleasure
its like were the few people on the internet who actually preferred 2016 suicide squad over 2016 dawn of justice. i like you people.
Will Smith was busy keeping guys out of his wife's mouth, or her name out of their mouths, or something like that.
🥁🥁🥁
Jada at the time was filming G.I. Jane 2.
Keeping his wife's mouth off of other guys 🌭
And his wife's mouth out of August's below.
It was the Sulaco's Emergency Escape Vehicle that crashed on Fiorina 161 in Alien 3, not the Sulaco itself. 🤦
Considering just how bad the Independence Day sequel was, I'm sure that Smith isn't upset he wasn't a part of it.
In fact, before the video ended, I was about to say 'Alien 3 is the worst example of getting rid of characters for the sequel.'
The thing is, I think this was actually a conscious, but highly misguided, creative decision from the start, rather than a case of awkwardly making the best of a difficult set of circumstances (i.e. creative or financial disputes).
Independence Day Resurgence still had Jeff Goldblum.
Oz is mentioned in American Pie the wedding, it's stated he was travelling overseas.
Thats in the directors cut.
Too serious of an actor? So... guess he forgot that time he had a breakdown and screamed at a hotel refrigerator that he WANTS HIS DRINK!
My guess is that he read the script and passed - HTTM2 was aweful.
8. Was it called "American pie: the wedding" overseas?
Didn’t even realise there was a different name. I don’t think viewers would’ve immediate known what it was by “American wedding” I’m more surprised it wasn’t called American Pie: The wedding everywhere. Explains why it did so much poorer than expected in the US. 🤷♀️ here in the UK it’s American pie: the wedding.
American Wedding in the U.S
@@Pepsiloaketes i know what it's called in the US
Wasn't Tank from Matrix done for drunk driving and several other things and that's why he was left out
If I remember correctly, I think the unrated cut has a quick line about Oz “being busy in California” but I could be wrong.
And as for sequels that deserve more love: Escape from LA, RoboCop 2, Waynes World 2 and Die Hard with a Vengeance.
You forgot Martin Brody in Jaws the Revenge
He died from the fear of sharks. 😂
That movie is the best comedy ever
Lol I love that movie….the FEAR killed him
He disappears after the second one, actually.*
And a better example would be Hopper, who really should have been in Jaws 2
You forgot all actors who played John Connor in Terminator for Terminator 6: Dark Fate (let simply kill John Connor even all franchise is actually based on him).
I would include the Furious Five( or at the very least Tigress) in Kung Fu Panda 4.
They at least had a non speaking cameo
i figured that was simply due to a budget issue. having to pay angelina jolie, jackie chan, and lucy liu alone for a fourth time (and subsequently, 2 more times) would have been expensive.
@@NipItInTheBud100 That's totally understandable, no movie or pay day is worth being miserable for months when you can just do another movie instead.
Good review
I'd love a Hot Tub Time Machine sequel show with the original cast. The creator also made Cobra Kai reinventing a cinematic gem into a TV hit so why wouldn't he do the same with his own movie?
Which year or years should the sequel take place in?
yeah when i saw the preview originally I thought what a dumb idea but actually really enjoyed it.
They kinda explained oz absense in reunion but still not a really good reason.
American Wedding had a deleted scene where they mention why he can't attend
Film that deserve much love is "Death to Smoochy" the single best black comedy no one talks about.
Its kinda weird how chris klien was expected to be the breakout star of american pie 4 or 5 yrs later not even in the third
Klein was the best looking most leading man type in the cast is why he was expected to be the breakout actor.
People only hate DAVID FINCHER'S Alien 3 for killing off Newt when Carrie Henn was retired from acting anyway, they kinda had to write her out of the story
At least Hicks survived according to a video game people hate and I never played, but surely Hicks surviving is the game's redeeming factor right. As for Bishop, well another can just come off the assembly line lol 🤪
Now Alien Covenant killed off the character played by beautiful Noomi Rapace, they did it off screen too 🤬, dab nab it!
I don't think Carrie Henn really did much of any acting at all after Aliens, I think she became a school teacher.
I'm surprised Megan Fox being cut out of Transformers 3 was not on the list. Her absense really affected the story of the third movie in my opinion.
No one watched Transformers 3. Lol
The human characters were never the appeal of the transformers movies... If anything they make them worst, like the last one with the Beasts
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise, after the first movie, I thought the human aspect should have been cut drastically.
That’s . . . an opinion.
i say this as someone who (somewhat) enjoyed the live action transformers movies. the humans were definitely the least appealing aspect of most of those movies (with bumblebee being the exception). it was definitely cool to see them fighting alongside the autobots but individual characters being the star like shia lebeouf and mark wahlberg? thanks but no thanks.
*C.S. Lewis cut Susan Pevensie from the end of the Narnia series thusly:*
“Sire,” said Tirian, when he had greeted all these. “If I have read the chronicle aright, there should be another. Has not your Majesty two sisters? Where is Queen Susan?”
“My sister Susan,” answered Peter shortly and gravely, “is no longer a friend of Narnia.”
*He later wrote to a child who asked about the fate of Susan, saying:*
The books don’t tell us what happened to Susan.
I mean they barley had anything for Kevin to do in American Pie the wedding
They should have cut Rey from the star wars sequels.
Tank is not the only member of the Nebuchadnezzar to survive, you have Morpheus and Trinity who survive add to that Neo ...
Will Smith cited scheduling conflicts
This is nonsense. He was asked back.
wow, were all getting different reasons. i thought the reason was he already committed to doing suicide squad instead and both were filming simultaneously.
Where are the Maitlands at they weren’t in beetlejuice beetlejuice
Why do you keep asking to like and subscribe throughout the video? 👎
Disgusting? 🤭😅🤣🤣🤣🤣 that’s so dramatic. Your attitude seems a little disgustingly entitled.
Is there any list that you make that doesn't involve newt and Hicks
Let's be honest, Robert duvall didn't warrant as much as pacino would get but I can understand him feeling slighted at receiving a fifth of the fee. Half would've been fair as he was an integral part of the first 2 films and behind pacino, the most established cast member had he been in the 3rd.
Everyone: watching Magic Mike for the men.
Me: watching Magic Mike for Fluffy 😁
Oz is mentioned in Wedding, but the scene was deleted.
Oz mentioned missing Jim's Wedding in American Reunion.
Even Kevin Smith said Linda was a pain during Dogma. That says a lot
Smith he's a pretty easy director to get along with, only Bruce Willis was considered a pain to work with other then Fiorentino according to him. But hindsight finding out what kind of medical issue that Willis was going through that explains why he was a pain to work with.
Did this man forget Linda Fiorentino played the lead in Dogma?
I NEVER liked kevin from american pie!! 100% couldve gotten rid of that goob for Oz!!
Edit: im glad the kid wasnt in magic mike 2, that movie was so sad and the 2nd one was so much happier and fun!! The best thing about the first one was Olivia Munn!!🥰🥰
The Exorcist III doesn't get the love it deserves.
I actually love Alien 3 and its atmosphere. I even think ive seen it more than the 2 others.
8:12 didn’t even know there was a sequel
When I saw Will in the trailer for Suicide Squad I knew it was going to be bad.
I’ll always wonder what Thor 2 could have been with Jenkins.
Alien 3 & 4 needs some love
We all knew what #1 was before we started the video.
I think your missing a key to A3, most do...SW/ER was the star, and we were introduced to Waylan...which spawned the Alien saga we have 2day...better one should die for the many??? ;p
American Wedding was awesome. Didn't need Oz.
When will smith declined Independence Day 2, they should have cancelled the movie.
ID4 2 was one of the biggest duds of a sequel
And worst reason for being left out of a sequel, the whole cast of the losers because they didn't make it
What about jeffery jones as Charles Deetz in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice? ...a darker turn with that one.
If the Godfather kept Hagen, III would have at least been watchable as compared to the garbage it was.
I always thought Tank was killed by Cypher!
i had heard the actor was kind of headcase, i am sure some of the money thing was true but apparently he was a bit difficult too.
Sarah Connor dying off screen between the events of Terminator 2 and 3
Agent L was in cartoon version
The kid and agent Myers were both terrible characters anyways so no big loss
The one sequel I always lift up is "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder." I think it's a decent sequel, nowhere near the first film but absolutely better than the second film. "Hero of the Federation" is weak.
Why was Boomer cut from the Independence Day sequel.
11:27 "Thankfully"?? Love and Thunder was hot garbage!
0:49 meh, Part 3 is terrible. The Godfather is a 2-parter.
The weakest part of the third film was the casting of the daughter. I heard that Winona Ryder was considered during the casting process.
The sequel that doesn’t get the respect it deserves is Grease 2. It’s clearly the superior film.
I'd say that Will Smith picked the less shitty option when he made Suicide Squad over Independence Day: Resurgence.
They changed the script though. Do you have access to what the movie wouldn’t looked like had he been in it? Before the changes? You must have for this comment to make sense to you.
Kevin served no purpose in that movie so how were they gonna add in even more people? Who cares it was just a cash grab movie anyway
😂 Smith has screwed himself.
Tom Hagen, forros.
All the American pies are bad
