I have a stressful life. My body is broken in many facets. On 2016 I got injured in a job and tried to stick with as being a tough man to ignoring the slight pain and not reporting it twice till it started getting worse and i had loss my job. I was out and recoveringfor five years. I finally was able to come back to light duty by doing deliveries and than i got into a wreck on my motorsickle and was out for another couple of years with multiple injuries. When i finally got back on my feet and riding again. I broke my arm. Right meow Im still recovering, bit without my motorsickle and the freedom i get from just riding my bike. It helps with my stress. I couldnt do without my motorsickle.

I used to hit the pub after work till late on a daily basis, which was causing problems with my mental health. Last year, I bought an MT07, and nowadays, I'm hitting the streets with my freedom machine.
Well, those companies need to drive moto sales. So they created a story for you to think about. Freedom from something. While Asia just rides on 2 wheels without any...just rides.
The people you ALWAYS hear yelling about 'Freedom' are those who dress the same conformist way, ride to the bar in traffic on an overpriced useless on dirt machine with basically a mortgage, it's unrepairable without the fancy supercomputer down at the stealership. You've got to obey traffic laws and if you're in a 'club' obey their laws. Maybe they get to ride for an hour or two on the weekends, sometimes, during summer. You can't even change your exhaust or put a hot tune on it without middlemen and lawmen demanding something from you in some states. Or maybe the HOA won't even let you have a bike so you've got to keep it in paid storage lol. They don't look very free to me. On the other hand, i live off the grid, 'in the woods' and daily a machine i hand built over the past 20 years and can repair on the side of the trail anywhere in the world. Nobody tells me what to do, where to go, what to wear or how to ride. Most of my riding is offroad getting to and from my place in the mountains. 98% of all the stuff i ride is inaccessible to the chrome clowns riding on rails shouting about how 'free' they are from their cage since it's not paved or passable with a cruiser. My bike is paid for, my insurance for the year costs less than you spend on a single doordash order, and i don't have any bills. I can go outside naked, light a fire 50 feet high, shoot guns and do wheelies while blasting heavy metal and nobody would neither know nor care. But usually i just chill and enjoy all the nature around me. If you're shouting "FREEDOM!" it's probably because you don't have any, but you got a brief glimpse of it once from your cage. Those of us with actual freedom are too busy exercising our freedom to feel the need to pay it lip service. It'd be like bragging that the sky is blue or water is wet. Duh!
At 49 last year I started with my first bike, 2023 KLR 650S lime green. It was hard but interesting to learn on shifting by left foot and clutching by hand when for 30 plus years long hauling in an 18 wheeler shifting by right hand and clutching by left foot. Trying to unlearn and relearn all over again each home time was hard and frustrating. I wanted to ride a couple years before graduating to a bigger bike. Though my size 18 feet and 3-4 months on the road at a time made learning and reaching my goal nearly out of reach. So after 7 months and 90 miles of riding later, I traded it for a 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sport ES with DCT. First weekend I took it on a 250 mile road trip through the back mountain highways and streets of Idaho and Montana and have not looked back.😂 Before my trip I was riding through my home town with my friend who was on his Harley. He was surprised how well I kept up with him riding around the beach and through town, as was I. I was almost ready to give up on motorcycles all together with the KLR because I am used to learning at a fast pace and not starting all over every time. On my KLR I was just cruzing the back roads by my house and trying not to stall the bike in second gear from a stop cuz I could not get to first so quickly like I thought I was in (no gear indicator). Plus finding neutral on that bike was like (STOMP, CLICK CKICK STOMP #%@U^!) I know neutral is around here somewhere, where is it???” ‘ OH! I just saw the N blink green now it’s GONE come back come back!!!” It was frustrating. On my second home time 4 months after I got my AT a few seconds in I picked up where I left off like a hand in a glove! It felt natural. Every time I got on my new bike I felt like a kid again I was free to go where I wanted to with my other riding buddy ( he has been riding for 50 years) his brothers about the same and their dad for about 60 years. So I got a good crew to ride with. Plus I don’t have to pedal up hill as I just twist and go😂, unlike when I was a kid on my BMX bike back in the 80’s. I always wanted to go easily UP a hill WITHOUT PEDALING on 2 wheels. Couldn’t do it then, BUT NOW I CAN😂😂 The AT with DCT helped me to enjoy the freedoms I missed out on for all these years. My only regret was not starting when I was younger. I will try to make up for those lost miles now that I got a bike that can help me do it😂. Also got some water proof soft luggage from SW MOTECH, for doing bike errands on home time😂. The best way I can describe the freedom is like this. Remember as a kid hopping on your bicycle and riding around by yourself or with your friends wherever you wanted with them? Going to the store for snacks, soda or candy? Then riding somewhere to enjoy the treats you got? THATS THE FEELING of freedom I get when I ride its like revisiting the fun parts of childhood even if it was the projects in Seattle where I grew up. The motorcycle is the best way to recapture that sense of freedom and enjoyment of youth. Yes I have been through all lower 48 states and 3 provinces of Canada in 30 plus years of trucking, but running around home in my pickup is not the same as riding my AT. I do not find the urge at all to be the hooligan as 1 I am 50 and cannot heal quickly if I screw up, and 2, my personal MVR and professional MVR are linked so I cannot goof off on my bike and get a ticket without my boss knowing about it. So I have to ride safe and smart just like at work. No loss of fun plus I can ride longer too! If you ever had doubts or people saying not to get a motorcycle, consider what I said and remember this, there is no need to be stupid and fast. Mistakes on a bike are less forgiving to take it easy, don’t get in a rush. If you are unsure about the higher power to weight difference with acceleration and braking, borrow the cars pace next to you when leaving a stop light in your town. Accelerate as slow as they do, increase your braking time and slow gradually like you are on snow and ice to get used to the changes in speed. Yes 30 is 30 is 30, but 30mph feels different in an 18 wheeler at 80,000 pounds vs a car at 30 or a motorcycle at 30. How fast you get to 30 or 60 from zero,or 60 mph to 0 is up to you. Be gentle on the throttle. Take curves at suggested curve speeds not faster. Just because your bike CAN, does NOT MEAN YOU should. Don’t get in a rush, take your time and be patient with others and gentle to your bike, throttle and brakes. If you can do that, then look into getting a motorcycle and enjoy it safely for years to come. Your skills to brake and accelerate will get better with time, but like a relationship, start slow, it will get better between your bike and you😂. Hope this helps those on the fence.
I've been riding on the street 54 years. Plenty of close calls but never an accident. I always ride as if every car is out to get me. I hope to ride another 10-15 years or so but if my reflexes and judgement become compromised I will take myself off the bike. I ride an HD Road King, a Goldwing and my newest toy is an '82 Honda CB650 that I'm restoring. Besides the freedom thing, I rely on motorcycles to travel economically.
Yeah, my ride to work tomorrow is gonna be like 2°F and it’s not gonna get above single digits all day. I’m gonna have to pretend I’m the Michelin man and put on lots and lots of clothing like you do when it’s cold.
What is keeping me now is getting the damn bike. Still trying to figure out the type of rider, still curious to what I want to ride. So now I’m at the point where it’s just get a damn bike already.
Great video man, lately I feel that I need two motorcycles, one to commute and one for the weekends to enjoy. Harsh truth but for me commuting daily on a motorcycle kills the freedom. I don't know if you feel the same.
I think traffic kills the freedom more than using a bike to commute. I've been commuting on a bike for the last 3 years, and I hate the traffic on the way to work. Thankfully my ride home is at night, and that restores that feeling of freedom for me. If you can, get out and ride sometime simply because you can, but get out of the city. Enjoy some country roads, and reconnect with your bike. You'll find it will recharge your love of riding a lot. It works for me, and hopefully it can work for you too. 🤘
For me in the city down in Miami the freedom is that you can weave in and out of traffic and sort of skirt the law because police aren’t hard asses on bikes so much. Also freedom from oppression from paying for the gas while horsing around in a high performance car that doesn’t even get the performance of a motorcycle.
I'm sure you know of CVNP Cuyahoga Valley national park I got my wr250 7 months old 0 miles 75mpg all I did was collect maps there's 20 mini parks in the whole system and probably 50 more throughout the other cities and counties and it literally cost me nothing and I put 18,000 miles on it over 4 years I did 3 tire changes few oil changes coolant spark plug brakes and chain once literally the most efficient and most freedom and adventures I've ever had
Freedom ? Mobility to travel near and far at nearly any time you wish, work and family to be considered. I was never one for just picking up and disappearing for a couple of days. Never had a crew, or a "Posse" to run with, I always did it Solo from my first days on a bike. My first new bike was a 72 Honda 450. I had 3 before that, all used. I was in the Navy, and the price was just right. $1250 if I remember correctly. Pennies for gas at the time, which suited my Navy E-3 pay. I was doing something many others were afraid to do, and it set you apart from the herd. Yes, my wife was attracted to me because of that and we're still married. There is danger, but your own behavior and judgment can take the edge off of a lot of that danger . Never go too fast for conditions, traffic stops, just settle and stop too. If it rains, don't speed up to beat it home, slow down and take it easy, it's only water, and you will live.
Also they use freedom for marketing and then people just used it as an way to express freedom. If you gonna pay taxes on it can you really call it freedom lol
Not really. Here in OH insurance is cheap. Fuel efficiency is better than a car. You can easily maintain them yourself. You can get motorcycles that are nice for l$4k or less. What is expensive?
Everyone hobby is as cheap or expensive as you make it. I get some people are having a hard time right now, and it sucks. It's not like I'm out here ballin all out of control. I started with a cheap, used dual sport. After a while, I converted it into a sumo. That thing was a little rough around the edges but who cares? Moved up to a proper 700cc street bike. I realized that wasn't the direction I wanted to go, but I still rode it for a couple of years. Eventually, I paid off my car, so now I'm about to pick up a brand new Speed Twin 1200 RS. Then, later this year, I'm getting a CRF300L. All that is a span of over 10 years. I'm not out here trying to "keep up" with anyone. I buy the bikes I like. I don't care what others think of the bike I'm on.

Couldn’t do it then, BUT NOW I CAN😂😂
The AT with DCT helped me to enjoy the freedoms I missed out on for all these years.
You just wrote a book
Yay cycle cruza in the house.
Cruza, did you see that Big Chuck died? A sad day.
Yeah bikes or freedom for me for sure
What do you think off New Indian FTR 1200
What phone mount do u use?
Ya boy fastlane just had a video where he busted the vest in a shop. He was bussin! Lol
What do you mean busted the vest in a shop?
He let the guy blow up the vest to test it and was geekin! Lol
Also they use freedom for marketing and then people just used it as an way to express freedom. If you gonna pay taxes on it can you really call it freedom lol
At peace
MC's are a bad investment too. Burnin money... Let's go for a ride!
It depends on the bike you get. Smaller bikes like the MT-07 hold their value the best.
Investment? Who thinks of them as an investment?
Cycle cruiser it's also an expensive hobby too
First!!
