you are absolutely INSANE for editing this 1hr masterpiece. so glad you tried out the food here
Probably paid for by gov agencies/tourism board
Doesn’t yenjin edit the vids ?
@@SweetPartyMausiYejin
@@Kash-is-King maybe the locations or items might be sponsored but I think if the video was sponsored she has to say it?
@@SweetPartyMausiI don’t think all her videos
singapore tourism board should really sponsor this video!!! as a local thank u so much tina for showing the REAL and authentic food culture of singapore that is the cheap, delicious hawker food that not many around the world know about :’) sg doobies r feeling so seen right now
Exactly my thoughts!! So much effort gone into showcasing our local dishes!!
you singaporeans just love anyone who says singapore is good you will believe anything
It is sponsored,
@@imsara_h exactly 😂 and most importantly because of its history, SG doesn’t have its own food. Everything is derived from its surrounding neighbors. That’s why almost every video has to be sponsored by the gov somewhat, either directly or indirectly. In this case, the Michelin event was probably sponsored, though Dooby’s video isn’t
@@imsara_h Malaysians are the same way. And you lot can't seem to see people praising Singapore without feeling really insecure about it. I'm saying this as an Indonesian, so I'm well acquainted with how insecure you people are.
From a Singaporean dooby: Just want to say you did such a great job and showcasing Singaporean local hawkerfare! Mad LOVE and RESPECT that you headed to all the real local hawker centres instead of the touristy ones. I live here and this video has even made me want to venture to these other hawker centres more often than my usual joint! Thank YOU.
they were all touristy places dont know what you even watched
as a sg viewer, this is literally a whole food documentary and i love her reviews😭😭 loving doobys content
as a INDIAN am feeling so proud, how much our food is being loved by others also seeing her eat masala dosa that too with hands showed how much she respects our culture.....dosa is literally my everyday breakfast tho....there are so many kinds of dosa and so many side dishes to go with it. I hope she gets to taste more of them and more of other Indian foods. btw the white sauce is coconut chutney, next time try with idili and try more South Indian Thali...I highly recommend it. its all in one plate of food
As a Filipino, Masala Dosa is one of the best Indian breakfast ever invented. The chutney. The sambar. Then finish it off with Chai Karak. That's heaven. 🤤
masala dosa is my go to for breakfast and im malay
also poori is more of a dough thats rolled than a batter. but i appreciate all her explaininations and got most of it on point. this video makes eme feel proud to live in singapore and be a citizen here ^~^
Pakistani food is more balanced than Indian just saying 😂
@@ChefNourhanPakistani food gives heart attacks. Just fat and no veggies.
An hour in Singapore with Dooby!? Damn. This is how you shake things up! Ready for some golden eats 🙏
I lived in Singapore and still come back to visit 3-4x a year. This country is the true definition of a melting pot. Their culture (and food!) is truly unique and basically an amalgamation of Asia in one spot. You definitely have to come back and explore, Tina! So glad that you and the crew love Singapore 💕

Extremely detailed, thoughtful and interesting description. You have a very gifted way with food- the knowledge, the passionate and the respect that you have jumps out at the screen!!!
It’s 3am here in Singapore! As a Singaporean, the way you describe the texture and flavor of those foods are weirdly accurate! You have a unique way of explaining it
Tina is an avatar of the culinary gods, placed on this planet to entice our appetites. Her use of descriptive adjectives such as “filthy” while indulging in kaya butter toast with jam dipped into the poached egg mixture with dark soya sauce is an exercise in pure erotica. She makes eating a sensual experience. 🤣
The white sauce you ate with the masala dosa was either peanut chutney or coconut chutney sometimes a mix of both. The puri is basically made from wheat flour or all purpose flour and is turned into a dough that you separate into portions and press or roll the dough into a thin sheet of dough that you place in burning hot oil.
Coconut chutney is sooo good.
Its coconut.
it's coconut
I love how you said Chai Tea, and the uncle just went, "So just tea?" 😂
lmao yeah cause chai tea would actually just translate to tea tea 😭
and then you see her explain how its a good chai tea when it wasnt chai tea at all. she just makes it up as she goes along
Omg!! I thought the same thing! But she definitely gets a pass. Cuz she Dope AF!!
as an overseas singaporean, i watched this while eating my lunch at my desk haha. so many memories of eating at maxwell before and after a night out for supper. one thing - you referred to indo a few times, the people and food. but malay, not indo-malay, and it is nyonya food that you ate. the laksa you find in singapore is very different to that in indonesia. :) glad you enjoyed, im living my homesickness through this!
Hope you get to visit soon 😊
As a Singaporean living overseas, this vlog is very therapeutic for me. I can almost smell that mee goreng and curry puff. Gosh I miss Singapore food
omg same
a singaporean living abroad who heard of such a thing
Go home lar
OMG Dooby in Singapore??? So excited to watch you explore Singapore's food~
Also if anyone is wondering- at 24:45 the reason why the uncle said "tea lah?" (meaning tea right?) is because chai means tea >< so if I'm not wrong, the uncle got you a teh (tea) with condensed milk and sugar ^^
No one asked but it's 1.45am and I am now hungry ;-;
Exactly
Now it’s 10:30 and I’m going out to eat at a hawker center
it is teh tarik in malaysia
No it's either chai or tea, chai means tea so saying chai tea means tea tea. Ugh
@@tanbenghooi86 Teh tarik means pulled tea. Nice try malaysian.
Tina! You’re an A star content creator superstar food youtuber! I’ve never seen so much honesty, heart and soul in one food review video by anyone be it local or visitor to Singapore! I’m Singaporean born and raised and this is the first time someone actually perfectly describes Singapore food how it very well deserves … your editing and angles and story boarding - nuts!!
Tina, Kuih/Kueh is a snack or dessert in Malay. That peanut pancake you ate is called Apam Balik. In Singapore, you get mainly the Chinese ethnicity making these in their version and they call them something else. In Malaysia where I believe Apam Balik originated from, it's a little bit different. The original apam balik has nuts butter and creamy sweet corn filling inside.
Also Otah is also a chinese version of the original Malay Otak Otak.
The wonderful thing about Singapore is that since it's a melting pot of the 3 main ethnic groups, you will find each group adapting each other's yummy foods and flavours to make their own unique version and that is so cool. 😊
The word Kue is from Hokkien/Teochew tho not Malay: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuih
Apam Balik originated in Fujian China: Apam balik also known as Martabak Manis, terang bulan, peanut pancake or mànjiānguǒ, is a sweet dessert originating in Fujian cuisine which now consists of many varieties at specialist roadside stalls or restaurants throughout Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Wikipedia
I’m so appreciative of how well Tina describes the taste and the science behind the food.
That white sauce is made of coconut/coconut milk. Also, Chai means tea, it came from the word Cha which also means Tea. So, when people say Chai Tea, they are actually saying Tea Tea 😁
In russian tea is also called chai, I was a little confused when first heard chai tea😅
@@khaenrialorewhen Northern chinese called it as Cha , Southern Chinese called as Teh ( which British mispronounced as Tea , as always )
Someones watched spiderman
this is my pet peeve, my brain glitches whenever I hear Chai Tea and I usually miss the next part of the conversation and have to rewatch or ask the person to repeat what they said.
She says "not basic like white girl Starbucks" but proceeds to order "chai tea" like one
You did an excellent job with this video! Thanks for presenting Singapore so well - not just the food but also our life here. Singapore can seem like Disneyland in all those Instagram posts, so thanks for showing the world more “real” and less touristy bits of Singapore. Glad you ate so well!!
Absolutely amazing! you really stepped up the game on this one. It looks and feels like a quality travel documentary. Big step out of your Korean comfort zone. I am glad you are exploring this direction. Your style is what makes me watch it. What i miss more voice over sections. This way you can chill more into the culture without the need to comment everything on the fly.
Can't believe 1hr vlog. It would be amazing ❤
I didn't realize this until I saw ur comment! Score!
a little fun fact, there's actually no dish in India just called as "curry"! the British just keep that as a cohesive name for Indian dishes because they didn't bother learning the actual names for them :) every dish has a different name, all across india, and while a small number of them do have the word 'curry' in them, they're all very different!
24:44 Miles Morales : I love chai tea.
Spider-Man India : What did you just say? Chai tea? Chai means "tea", bro! You are saying "tea tea"! Would I ask you for a "coffee coffee" with room for "cream cream"? 😂
I honestly tasted all of your descriptions of what you were eating! You have a way with words girl! Awesome editing on the video and amazing job with the Singapore information. I not only slobbered while watching but also learned a lot, thank you ❤
I love how Doobydobap expresses all the food that she tasted; and educating us all on food ingredients ,history, and cultule. Always on point.
BIG WELCOME TO SINGAPORE! THANK YOU Tina for covering my country's food culture/cuisine to this extent, you and your team are amazing!
I love how much you ground in humanity and talk about people enjoying drinks, deliciousness of food, fans, atmosphere. At 44:59 you notice the beautiful things and the moment you are in. Love your vlogs Tina! Thank you 😊
Dooby is so calming to watch and she’s really amazing at describing the food for people who don’t know what it is. And the editing is perfection 😙🤌🏼
It makes me so happy to see you eating Indian food with your hands!! A lot of people are hesitant to try it, and I don't blame them, but it brings me a sense of pride when people at least try!! You eat with your hands very proficiently as well!! Thank you so much for doing this!!
The "white sauce" you eat with the dosa is coconut chutney, btw!!
u do know that nyc has dosa too right? Mind blown....
Singaporeans' favourite past time is eating and discussing which spots have the best food 🤭 Please come to Singapore again and host a meet and greet session ❤️❤️ Love your content!!
Yes 🎉
The serving sizes and the prices are insane compared to here in Sydney, particularly as our currency is almost on parity with SGD. That $4 mee goreng looked so delicious and I would pay $17 for that in Sydney and it wouldn’t be as good 😫. I will definitely visit Singapore ❤
Welcome ❤
It’d be 24 bucks in NZ ;( at least. But minimum wage is much higher so it makes sense that food costs more
I tried my first butter coffee over there and I was surprised. It was surprisingly good! Butter enrich the coffee with this dairy flavour which was amazing! This combi is an old one, not many ppl know, only the older generation knows (I’m not old😂). So glad you tried it!
You nailed all those cultural nuances of Singapore that I took years to uncover as a local. Such a great masterpiece dooby. Welcome ❤
I'm so glad you tried SOUTH indian food!! Everyone's always eating naan and curry but indian food is so much MORE 😭 Glad you tried indo-chinese food too! Try idli sambar, Gobi manchurian and Rasam rice next you'd LOVE IT!
Those dishes are not really common in Singapore
singapore is the other way round as compared to Japan where Naan is more common ( from what i have seen travelling there ) we have more Briyani mutton or chicken. also we have Roti Prata which i guess is similar to naan that is way more common
@@aleeya00they are common. Tamils literally make up a lot of the population in Singapore so it’s natural that there would be a lot of Tamil food
Amazing!!! This series is by far my favorite. Seeing and hearing about all the food you’re eating, so inspiring ✨
You’re truly amazing, your love and knowledge of food is radiating and I think this is the most authentic and best foreign food review ever!
I love love lovee your videos! You give you such a supportive stage for all the hidden local food vendors! Thanks for such great content ❤
An hour-long vlog? I am the happiest todayyy! Thank you so much, Doobyyy ✨
Dooby is so good at describing food! I've never tried any of these foods but I feel like now I know what it tastes like😁 makes me wanna visit Singapour
I love how you describe the spices through smell, even before tasting. Your passion and respect for taste in food is abundantly illuminated ❤
The way you describe the different cultures and food cuisines really shows how much effort & homework u did behind the scenes! It's worth watching throughout this 1HR content 🍿📹
As a Singaporean, and a follower of you since way before. I am soooo happy you are enjoying all the local dishes that I personally enjoy so much myself too. It brings me joy to see how much you are enjoying it!
Really appreciate the effort you put into researching the food in Singapore. You are clearly well informed!
Saw your video and subbed without hesitation! The description of EVERYTHING is absolutely ON POINT!
Enjoy our beautiful country and all it has to offer!
as a singaporean, i’m so happy u got to try my fave congee store in sg ever!! the dish is soooo flavourful yet so simple !!
i can watch you eat all day, the way you explained the dishes was amazing. im a Singaporean myself and im happy that you enjoy the food!
welcome to singapore, tina!!! like many of the other commenters mentioned, I'm so glad you featured the real and authentic side of everyday singapore. singapore is more than just its fancy restaurants, tall sky scrapers and luxe boutiques - which is typically what gets captured through the lens of many foreign creators who pay us a visit.
there's so much more to this city and you put it altogether so beautifully! thank you and i hope you have a chance to visit again ❤❤❤
Your explanation of the food and super informative observation of the culture is giving real Anthony Bourdain vibe, but even better, the filming is elite also, great work Dooby & Team!
THis video made me add Singapore to my ever growing list of places to visit! The colors, the people, the food. Everything looks so beautiful
Oh Dooby! I grew up in Singapore and this video gave me all the feels! Whenever I return to SG, I head straight for the hawker centres too. 🤤
That's insane. An 1 hr long food vlog. Triggered my cravings. I was drooling the whole time watching this. Yea! Keep them coming. Your knowledge of our local hawker food is very commendable. Respect.
I visited Singapore in 2018, but I was with my elderly parents and we mainly did tours and walking and never made it to any of the food hawker centers. I would love to go back one day and really immerse myself in the food culture.
🔼The white sauce you ate with dosa is actually a coconut chutney . Made by grinding coconut ,green chilli , salt (sometimes peanut too)etc, later tempered with mustard in coconut oil . Just a mature coconut flush you have eaten got grinded and made into that flavour ful sauce 💖.
🔼The lendil dal curry is called "sambaar "
You are so good with describing the flavors of the food... This video makes me want to go to Singapore so badly. Thank you for the great video~💕❤️
Come visit 🎉
I am in love with your open and endless love for food! all of us can clearly see how into it you are. thank you for the video
I live here but have forgotten all about the great food around until I watched this. I feel blessed. I am also very impressed with how accurate you are in describing the characteristics of all the food you featured. Thank you and keep making great videos Dooby!
the amount of knowledge you have about food is insane!! like when you started talking about masala dosa i was shockedddd
26:19 - I don't think he served you what you would call "Chai Tea". He served you "Teh hot" which has a very specific meaning in Singaporean and Malaysian food lingo. Its regular Tea with Condensed milk.
No ???? As a person born and raised in India, that is very much Chai .
And a very authentic one I have to say, Even the cup resembles the cup we commonly see in Indian households.
That Chai resembles the Chai I drink at home.
@@sonakshiawasthi as a born and bred Malaysian with incredibly close ties to hawker culture in Singapore. I can tell you that "Teh bing/hot" has a distinct meaning in our cultural sphere and is nothing alike your Indian Chai which I believe has ginger and other spices in it, which is not Teh Bing/hot.
@@Gabriel-l he just said tea hot ????
We say that to foreigners coz most of us don't believe they know the meaning of Chai. Chai means tea, so he's just asking her will she like some hot tea....and that looks exactly like Chai....even the froth.
It's authentic just trust me.
And there are many variations of Chai, not every Chai is supposed to have spices, "adarak chai" has ginger, "Masala Chai" has spices, "Elaichi chai" has cardamom, this is a regular everyday kind of Chai so it's just water, milk, tea leaves, sugar, boiled and juggled really nicely to give it that classic froth.
@@sonakshiawasthi ok i'll take your word for it.
AHH im really happy that you enjoyed the food, cant wait to see you coming back to singapore!
if youre visiting singapore again and going to old airport hawker centre, i recommend trying the oyster omelette!
this didn't feel like one hour because of how well you described the food and made me salivate while watching! I like how you visited all of the most authentic local food places in the heartlands, which are tasty and great value for money too. hawker culture is something we definitely need to preserve
Loved that you are exploring new countries again 😊
An hour vlog on my country's food? HECK YEA and she nailed all the local locations too (the pho at old airport road is good too!)
Loved seeing these local dishes and some of my comfort foods thru ur eyes and hearing how u describe them :”) so glad u enjoyed SG food!! 🤍
as a singaporean living here since birth, i haven’t tried in most of these food stalls and i’m definitely going to try them now 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Great video. The long format was awesome! Love how easily you can depict the dishes you eat. So much better than the average "wow this is really good!".
I love this type of content, every time I watch one of your videos I just try to write down the names of the places so later on I can visit them!! ❤❤
Dooby's literally the cooking knowledge queen! such an insightful vid!!
Best video from you EVER! The research you guys did for this was superb. Looking forward to more of this!
Hey regarding the dosa, the daal is called sambar, the white chutney is coconut chutney, and the red chutney is probably either tomato or peanut chutney. The potato mixture doesn’t have garam masala but it’s the South Indian mixture of spices. Garam masala is a mixture of North Indian spices. I’m glad you liked it! Indian food is so extremely diverse and you would have so much to try and content to share! Also, I love Singapore too!
man im loving this style of video.. feels like a singapore food tour documentary. could watch all day
Michelle Choi also right?
I'm new here and boy you guys are great! How possible you looked more like locals than visitors! Fantastic work! ❤
35:55 you got me there, you're not just doing it for content, but you have the heart to support those who need it most. Thanks for the act of kindness. ❤️❤️❤️
I love your food vlogs. Singapore is a foodie's dream. Thank you Tina. ❤
you should do more videos like this (trying foreign food especially asian food), i rlly enjoy how you describe every food you try ❤
Entertaining + informative + charming presenter = perfection ✨ literally livin the best times of TH-cam!
heyyyy tina, I’m from Singapore and thank you so much for this amazing video. you really covered a variety of food, and explained the food so well that I even would want to try them (I have a really selective palate HAHAHAH) LOVED THIS VIDEO. THANK YOU FOR COMING TO SINGAPORE AND WE WELCOME U TO COME AGAINNNNN
Welcome to Singapore! You should’ve done a fan meet and greet!!
on the days tina releases videos i watch them throughout the day , breakfast , lunch and dinner. I cannot watch these videos without food in front of me. all love
The way she describes it just shows how well she knows about food. Well done 👏
This is the first time I saw you sooo amazed by food. Looks like Singapore is the place to be.
Your knowledge of food of different cultures never ceases to amaze me!!!!
Hi Tina! I just loooove the way you explain of how the food taste like. Please visit Malaysia as well and try the food that we have here 😉 . Big love from Malaysia ❤
Thank you Tina for your way of showing our Singapore food, describing the food.. Great work 👏🏻👍🏻

can we appreciate how much time and effort she put in filming and editing this 1-HOUR vlog? love youu dooby ❤
Yeah it’s totally insane 😮😅
Got excited the moment i saw u at old airport road bc i used to live across there 😢😢 so nostalgic. My comfort food when i was upset was the famous lao ban dou hua
OAR has got my fav wanton mee too omg ,,, and the hokkien mee and chicken wings from the satay store
Thank you for highlighting our hawker culture!! So lovely to see you genuinely enjoying yourself and soaking in all the food! You have to come back fo sho! 😊
Love the way you describe and learning about Singapore you’re truly amazing
the way this 1 hour video gave me peace in each minute 🥹
Really appreciate the scientific/technical explanation of the foods that you tried !
I love this video SO MUCH. You describe the food so well - I find it so hard to explain it to my friends in NYC. Thank you for this !!!!!!! Love all your videos!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Imagining a strong bond between his customers and the shop. Even when people age and move on, it would been such a good moment to revisit this shop to have the old-time foods again.
Wow this was so cool to watch as a singaporean and the foods u ate were really authentic!! Great job following the locals hehe and its always so interesting to see peoples perspective on singapore and it was kinda funny when tina said that sg was kinda like east meets west but the places she went to were literally the LEAST western places in singapore 🤭 im glad you enjoyed and gave such positive and genuine comments on the food hope you come again doobie❤
Also a little pronunciation tip:
Masala isnt pronounced as mursalar, its pronounced as "mah-sah-lah"
Tekka isnt pronounced as "teck-kah" is more pronounced as "tehhh-ka" like drag out the ehhh a little
Kueh isnt pronounced as 2 syllables like "koo-eh", its pronounced as 1 syllable like how u would think quay would be pronounced(but in singapore if you see quay its pronounced as "key" jjdjsjdks but thats another story for another day)
And we pronounce lychee as "lai-chee" it always shocks me whenever i hear people pronounce it as "litchi"
I hope this doesnt come across as a condescending way but just a way to let people who are unsure of how to pronounce them if they ever come to singapore ❤
Dooby is Singapore can't believe it, the camera work and editing is AMAZING. Please do come back again and try all the different hawker centers around Singapore, those super local neighbourhood ones, you'll love it too.
Your impression of Singapore now as an adult will be so much different from when you were 5, back then our city is still developing and you would get a very different experience, lots of nostalgia feeling.
Loooove the amount of effort you took to review each bite!! Glad you love Singapore!
Im currently overseas and I miss Singapore so much I CANT WAIT TO BE BACK *just* for the food im happily crying watching this video thank you for this ONE HOUR FOOD MASTERPIECE
24:45 in the words of Pavitr Prabhakar, "What did you just say? Chai tea. “Chai” means “tea” bro! You're saying “Tea tea”.
As a Singaporean and a chef it makes me so so happy to see people come here and just fall in love with the food❤️🤭
I’m studying abroad in Singapore in the spring, so having content that shows what real food in Singapore is like is amazing!
