EVERYTHING I ATE IN PHILLY: cheese steak, water ice, cannolis, roast pork sandwich and more…

  • 📍All the places I went to!
    📍 John's Water Ice
701 Christian St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Honestly, their lemon ice was legendary. Sad I didn't get to try other flavors but heard their pineapple is also godly. Simply the best.
    📍Angelo's Pizzeria
    736 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Cash only! Make sure to get there before 6:30 for last orders. You can also try calling in advance for a pick up order but they don't usually pick up their phone. Also heard their pizza is fire fire but I didn't have anyone to share with...
    📍Saad's Halal Restaurant
4500 Walnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19139
A local hidden gem. Their chopped halal philly cheese steak is apparently one of the best. Really cute neighborhood joint and awesome options for halal food.
    📍Taco Heart
    1001 E Passyunk Ave 1st Fl, Philadelphia, PA 19147
So good!!! Their tortillas were made fresh and I honestly cannot express how much I loved their breakfast tacos. Limited space to sit though so be aware!
    📍Isgro Pastries
1009 Christian St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Their cannolis were 10x better than the ones I got in Italy. I keep thinking about their mascapone cannolis. Personally their cheesecake I wasn't a big fan of but everything else was very good.
    📍Cafe Nhan
    1606 W Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145
BOMB Bun Bo Hue. Broth is so so good. Pho is good but slightly on the sweeter side. Their bun bo hue is one of the best I've tried on the east coast.
    📍Herman's Coffee
    1313 S 3rd St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
Cute neighborhood coffee joint. Cheap coffee and really nice selection of tinned fish.
    📍Malooga
134 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Fool was so good. Personally found the chicken mandi to be too dry but their lamb was very tender and nice.
    📍Reading terminal market
136 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
I could spend hours and days in there just eating. Must visit for first-time visitors.
    📍 DiNic’s
    51 N 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
Broccoli Rabe Roast Pork sandwich. Very good, this sandwich is for the moist sandwich lovers out there.

Damn.. as a Philly native & food lover (my wife & I even did a Philly vs. Seoul cheesesteak episode on our channel 😅) I could NOT be more thrilled to see Dooby highlighting so many well loved and stellar local spots.. Angelo's, Saad's, Isgro, Reading Terminal, Taco Heart, Cafe Nhan, etc.. A killer lineup! Watching this just warms my heart so much ❤ Thanks for visiting and going all out, Dooby 🙏

Yess!! As a Philly local & foodie, I feel like Philly is really slept on. I love NYC, but we definitely have a lot of our own food culture as well as I can get traditional Viet, Cambo, Indian, Ethiopian, Russian, etc all within a 20/25 min drive. It was great hearing your appreciation and you’ve given me some new places to try as well!

@@PullthaleverKronkooo that’s a toughy for all of them because a few will have a different dish I enjoy there. Love to help though!
For Ethiopian, I’d say Gojjo, Kaffa Crossing, or Abyssinia in West are good.
Eastern European food, go to the far Northeast, Bustleton. I love Georgian Bread but there’s a bunch in the area.
For Vietnamese or Cambodian, check out Washington ave area. Where she went, Cafe Nhan is really popular for Viet! I really like going to FDR park on weekends, Viet & Cambo families have stands set up. It’s budget friendly & a nice way to spend the afternoon.

I am glad you enjoyed Philly and as someone who has been living in that area for a long time now it truly is one of my favorite cities; it is up there w/ San Diego for me. It just has a big city vibe but, also a small city vibe mixed w/ some open space areas and lots of music, art, history, science and some of the best food in U.S.A. As a foodie you can just get lost and next time you visit try the greek restaraunt on South St. they do AMAZING kebabs on a stick and gyro's like it is so good and not expensive and you can just be on south st. then walk up to the window order / wait 5 mins and get hot fresh food then go one block down and get a margarita slushie LOL. Minus the potholes and some bad blocks it really is a overall safe and friendly city.

But, that only lasted but so long, as you may have saw many ppl especially New Yorkers have discovered what native Philadelphians known for generations. But unfortunately, many of us are now being priced out of our beloved city. Also, Pats and Gino’s are only for tourist Philadelphians don’t go there. Did you get to try a Soft pretzel as sold 4 or 6 at a time on Roosevelt Blvd red lights? THAT is real Philly. Glad you avoided Genos Pats. Next time...also slap ' em down feed the people...multi location Lee's Hoagie House and also Roman Style pizza joints in suburbs. Must try Roman Style

Dang it, I would’ve told you to visit the South East Asian market at FDR Park. It’s a weekend street food market that has some really good Cambodian bbq and many more.

The roast pork sandwich is the real Philly sandwich. Dinic's is a top notch spot.

i have been campaigning for this change for years but i would argue that johns is the superior sandwich. either way as long as its got garlicky greens and super shard prov on a seeded roll im happy

It’s not and won’t happen because most people in the city is going to they’re papi store and getting a cheesesteak not a pork sandwich
