Just to answer your question, the self checkout tills in america, at least in California, do have scales but its only used for bagged produce that you would pay for by weight, i.e. apples, green beans, bananas, watermelon, etc. Cloths, appliances, and decor is priced by item so no scale would be needed

self check outs only weigh items that are priced by weight but you DO have to place each item in the bagging area after scanning so idk how she managed that one
Where I live in the US, you aren’t required to place each item in the bagging area. That used to be a thing, but all the grocery stores I go to in my area got rid of that feature. Target, Walmart, Aldi, etc. I’m glad of it, because sometimes I need to take things out of the bagging area to make more room and I used to not be able to do that.
The checkouts do have weights , but not every item is required to be weighed. It's mostly based on how they set the prices. So if a gallon of milk is 5 dollars, then it won't make you weigh it. But if Tomatoes are 3 dollars for a pound, then you have to weigh your tomatoes.
In the uk every self checkout has a scale so if u misplace anything u scanned or if it glitches it doesn't let u proceed and u need to get staff to sort it out which only takes a few seconds
I’ve heard several TH-camrs say that they think it’s funny that she has a lawyer on retainer, that’s not the case if you go to jail a lot you have a lawyer that you regularly contact 😂 I would know from experience
in new york, our self check outs don't all have scales. grocery stores will in case you need to weigh fruits/veggies yourself but places like target don't
11:39 in the US we do have scales on the self checkout but products are only required to be set down or weighed if they are something that you are paying for by the pound(ie usually produce). In other cases, a customer can scan the item at self checkout without it ever touching the scale which may not set off a red flag on the computers end
I’m in the US and I’ve never seen scales in the self checkout at Walmart or Target. I’ve only ever seen them in grocery stores and most of the time if it’s a lightweight item there’s an error and an employee ends up having to come over to deal with it.
For clarification on the American self check outs and weights: I've only been asked to place a product down for weight when its a food produce item, and even then sometimes it just asks you how many you are purchasing rather than checking the weight. So for the clothing items it wouldn't flag if the product weights didn't match because it doesn't get checked. That's also why they have so many cameras on you when you check out.
Most people just say, “call my lawyer,” because they think it’ll scare people into leaving them alone. If they did have a lawyer they wouldn’t be saying anything.
As mentioned by others in the US we have scales at our self check out that are built into the scanners. But those are primarily used for things like produce. For things like clothes etc., I personally don’t let the item touch the scale, I just let it scan. So even if the system was set up to tell the difference between the weight of a T-shirt versus a TV, it wouldn’t get a chance to because at least for myself I don’t let it sit on the scale. For the record I’m not stealing, I just used to work at a grocery store and I go kind of quickly.
11:37 target specifically doesn't seem to have scales at their self checkouts from my experience. Grocery stores definitely do because more often than not you end up having to deal with the machine getting fussed if you move things around too much or have your own bags. Usually at grocery stores when you scan something in your cart and leave it there you also have to press a "skip bagging" button, but I've never even seen that option on a target self check.
some stores do have the weighted checkout machines, when i go to heb it weighs in the bagging area to make sure you’re putting the right item in (can be annoying when you use a reusable bag) but target doesn’t use this feature except for produce that’s priced by weight
We do have the anti-theft scale here in the U.S. if you remove something from the checkout it’ll tell you that removed an item and not let you keep checking out until it’s back. Idk how she was getting away with not putting the item she scanned there.
Most grocery self checkout tills will have scales for produce and non bar-code items. One of the ones I frequently go to has a scale built into the bagging area, and it won't let you proceed with scanning items if the weight of the last scanned item doesn't match
Some self-checkouts at stores in the US have scales and some don't. The one at my local supermarket chain does but the Target and the Walmart do not. But the Target literally has a screen right there at the self-checkout register showing that you are being recorded.
She probably does have a lawyer already, with that many charges!! 😅 Yes, US self checkouts, do have the weight sensors, but most aren’t that accurate, and often go off when they shouldn’t even, then you have to wait for the attendant to come over, before you can continue. However it does depend on the store. It also doesn’t look like she’s really putting the stuff in the bagging area to begin with, some places also have the option to, ‘skip bagging’, as well.
yeah that's weird about the scale, because the self checkout tiles here got a scale on the side where you need to drop the items you scanned and if it isn't the right weight the thing will not be registered and you can't continue to scan the rest, and if the scale bug you have to call for a worker to debug the thing so you can't really cheat like that, it's weird that they don't have that stuff in the us
she better watch out...she's going to be sued for wearing that beige jumpsuit. all jokes aside...her "what?!" at the end felt so fake haha...like she knew why they were there. also, she probably does have a lawyer on call considering she has committed and been arrested for crimes before
idk about other places, but in texas we definitely have stores that have scales at the self checkout tills. just today i had to get a store associate because my item in the bagging area didn’t match the weight in the system
To answer the lawyer question: the majority of time when people say that they just have a friend who is a lawyer and want to double check with them that whatever happening is legally against their rights or not. With this girl she probably has a lawyer just because she’s been caught before 🤣
Our American self checkouts used to utilize the merchandise weight at checkout, but the boomers complained their way to getting it disabled because they couldn't figure out how to use them properly.
yeah i don't understand that either but from the footage she put the items directly in the bags after scanning. here in Spain you have to deposit the scanned item on one side of the self check out machine that recognizes the item guess by weight and the other scale for fruits and vegetables is on the scanning thing itself (but i've sometimes bought 3 croissants, only marked 2 on the screen and the machine never caught it so.... maybe they're not that great at detecting)
I used to work at a supermarket in the US and the self checkouts there have the weights all recorded but most department store so not have that feature I assume because of the high turnover of products being sold
USA here👋🏼. Idk anyone w/ a lawyer on call. Also, why wasn’t she banned from Target? Funny story: when I was 18 I “stole” m&ms from the grocery (long story). I had to pay an $80 fine and banned from any of those grocery stores for a year or I’d be arrested for trespassing. That was bold/crazy for her to go back to the same store and steal AGAIN!
She’s able to scan fake barcodes and rob Target blind… how?! Where I live I f the weight of the bar coded item and the weight in the bag don’t match- ie a 2oz candle is put in the bag but she scanned a a barcode for a 1 oz item? - the register locks down, calls an associate, and all but accuses you of theft… I wonder how many times she’s done this?!
I think all self checkout machines have scales on the scanner for like produce, and I’ve noticed that some have scales in the bagging area for this exact reason. Not all of them tho
When I do self check out in Pennsylvania if I don't put the item in the bag right like if a item was stuck on the bag and not in the bag to register in the area or if something is heavier than it is thought to be it will put up an alert and say put the item in the bag or unknown item in the bagging area and it will need an associate to come and clear the alert.
Some of our self checkouts have scales and some don't. There are two Walmart stores within 20 minutes of my house...the one in the more expensive neighborhood doesnt have scales in the bagging area. None of the Targets around me have them.
11:28 yeah I feel like the self check out doesn’t have quality control when it comes to weighing items. So I think they only really use it for vegetables stuff like that and meat. Rather than clothes and home decor .
I dunno if I don't set the item into the bagging area quick enough, or move one item off to make space for another item a big alarm goes off saying PLEASE RETURN ITEM TO BAGGING AREA lol.
I honestly don’t get the weight self checkout thing either. Cause the place I work, our self checkouts would freak out about the weights being wrong. And I’m in America. Maybe it’s an older model of a checkout?
I wonder if she has a psychological issue. When we were kids (40+ yrs ago) my mother used to change the price tags on things. She would have my brother and I push the cart out of the store, and oh how we were petrified the alarm sensors would go off. We would argue among each other, "you do it!," "No, you push it this time!." We didn't need the money at all. But my father who was very abusive to her and us, and also a very very frugal person, I think created some sort of whatever it is that causes people to steal when abused.
We Americans only use the scale feature at self-checkouts for products where the price is determined by the weight - like produce. HOWEVER! Every single self-checkout has SO MANY CAMERAS and target’s even have a monitor showing you how they can see what you’re doing! There are even currently unfolding stories about people who think they got away with it and the police show up to their homes and arrest them and it has their transactions and everything synced with the video so they can tell all of the discrepancies. There are also cases where people get arrested and they actually stole nothing and they spend time in jail to then prove that the system flagged them when it wasn’t true. I never use self-checkout cuz I’m not getting arrested for something I didn’t do!
my husbands best friend is a lawyer and we ask him law questions all the time, in return he ask me and my husband questions pertaining to our fields of work so its ok lol
Our grocery stores are by weight. Major retailers like walmart and target, you don't even have to take it out the cart. It's so silly how people choose to be under the camera to steal, I scan all my items in my cart, I never take them out but I never steal either but you'd think they'd be better about it smh. Walmart's cameras know when an items been scanned and whats not scanned. THey also use the big brother, same as the cops, they're able to identify you threw facial recognition software. It's absolutely pointless to try and steal from them.
If people would stop letting their kids sit on the bagging area of self check out she might have been caught sooner because Walmart has scales in there but they are always broken because of kids sitting on them. It used to be part of the job for the person working that area to ask them to get off but too many parents flipped out so now they just stay broken.

in my country there are no self scan checkouts without a scale. i thought every other country did the same lol
As a fellow Marlena, I would like to formally state that we do NOT claim her.
"all sorts of like.. rubbish" 😂
11:30 some do, in my area some self checkouts won't even let you continue checking out until you put the item you scanned in the bagging area lol
Getting approved, little did she know.. muahaha..
How is she not ashamed of herself? And is this happening in front of her kids as well?
Commenting for that Cartier✨
some stores do have the weighted checkout machines, when i go to heb it weighs in the bagging area to make sure you’re putting the right item in (can be annoying when you use a reusable bag) but target doesn’t use this feature except for produce that’s priced by weight
Target was keeping tabs on her for a while, she finally stole enough for them to arrest her.
most people in the US probably don't have a lawyer on call but she might since she's been arrested multiple times
Well obviously she has a lawyer on speed dial if she’s been arrested 4 times
She probably does have a lawyer already, with that many charges!! 😅 Yes, US self checkouts, do have the weight sensors, but most aren’t that accurate, and often go off when they shouldn’t even, then you have to wait for the attendant to come over, before you can continue. However it does depend on the store. It also doesn’t look like she’s really putting the stuff in the bagging area to begin with, some places also have the option to, ‘skip bagging’, as well.
yeah that's weird about the scale, because the self checkout tiles here got a scale on the side where you need to drop the items you scanned and if it isn't the right weight the thing will not be registered and you can't continue to scan the rest, and if the scale bug you have to call for a worker to debug the thing so you can't really cheat like that, it's weird that they don't have that stuff in the us
she better watch out...she's going to be sued for wearing that beige jumpsuit.
all jokes aside...her "what?!" at the end felt so fake haha...like she knew why they were there.
also, she probably does have a lawyer on call considering she has committed and been arrested for crimes before
You should copy and paste her caption into an ai scanner to see if it’s just chat gpt or any kind of ai
Not all stores have them. Smaller ones like CVS and Walgreens, or grocery stores often do, but Target and Walmart often don’t
idk about other places, but in texas we definitely have stores that have scales at the self checkout tills. just today i had to get a store associate because my item in the bagging area didn’t match the weight in the system
In America, the checkouts have scales in grocery stores, but not at places like target and Walmart.
Some self checkout booths have a scale but some of them don’t. Places like Walmart, Giant, and Costco have a scale at self checkout
11:30 I’ve noticed it depends on what store you go to bc some do and some don’t
I used to work at a supermarket in the US and the self checkouts there have the weights all recorded but most department store so not have that feature
I assume because of the high turnover of products being sold
some American stores have scales by weight when you bag, but not stores like Target and Walmart
There are some stores that do not have weight requirements in self-checkout. It's not in all stores unfortunately.
Our self check outs have scales so yeah that’s right how strange…
Our scales really only weigh to make sure you are putting something in the bags. Then there’s the produce scale on top
the scales in america are just under the table, we put the produce over the scan table and type or scan the code and it weighs the product
This clown 🤡 has a public defender. She could not afford a Lawyer. There is no “team”.
I honestly don’t get the weight self checkout thing either. Cause the place I work, our self checkouts would freak out about the weights being wrong. And I’m in America. Maybe it’s an older model of a checkout?
i’m brazilian and i do have a lawyer on my phone anytime i want. actually two. both my dad and my best friend are lawyers lol
She can afford those fake floatation devices on her chest and that filler in her lips, but has to steal from target? 😂
I’ve heard the word “till” twice this week! Thanks to you and Lill from DRUK. -an American
Omg not Floridaaaaa😂! Some self-checks have scales that are less sensitive or off…
23 seconds what??? Also, yeah, this gal is a whole mess wtf
But my father who was very abusive to her and us, and also a very very frugal person, I think created some sort of whatever it is that causes people to steal when abused.
i just want to know what her lawyers reaction was when they got the second call
I know we have some type of scale because if you don't put the item in the bag, it knows...but Idk if it can tell different weight.
Is the facade of a great life not over once you have been IN JAIL for SHOPLIFTING??????
shes not slick lol not even trying to hide it
Sat sat sat 🩷
If people would stop letting their kids sit on the bagging area of self check out she might have been caught sooner because Walmart has scales in there but they are always broken because of kids sitting on them. It used to be part of the job for the person working that area to ask them to get off but too many parents flipped out so now they just stay broken.
Thats a crazy title youve got there
WOW!! This world is just a big MESS!!! Let’s pay people and give her more watch hours because she stole. I don’t understand it!
I think she’s doing this on purpose. A bad pr is also a pr, as they say. It’s sad that people are giving her the attention she wants 😒
Her shirts/tops aren’t meant to attract followers. 🤔🙄🤔
