I am so glad that I recently discovered your channel. I appreciate that you read a variety of genres, focusing on respected authors. You have the ability to derive profound insights through your reading and share them in an articulate and charming manner. It’s a pleasure spending time with you (and your wife) because I know I’ll glean valuable assessments of books that help me decide what to add to my library. I’ve been an avid reader for 70 years and majored in English in college. I share your affinity for the Russian classicist of the 19th century. Thank you for adding joy to my life.
Watching what you say when you’re sleepy is way too funny. I was cracking up. The historical fiction book got me interested so I added the first one to my wish list. It sounds really intriguing.
I’m too old to be doing these challenges now 😅 I pulled an all nighter reading over the Christmas season and by the end of it I thought I was reading a completely different book because my eyes weren’t focusing and my brain wasn’t taking anything in .. still suffering from a broken sleeping pattern to this day thanks to it !
I prefer early Follett novels, his spy thrillers. The Key to Rebecca and Eye of the Needle, to be exact. My husband says his later novels felt he was being paid by word, since they veered away from spy thrillers, and thus I avoided them.
I started crying when I saw you reading toward the end of Terms of Endearment. Such a beautiful story of beautifully flawed people. I loved them so much. I'm really glad you got to read this. I may have to read it again. Thank you for bringing it back into my orbit. ❤
Slaughter house five is one of my favorite books. It's such an easy read and every reread I fall right back into the story questioning just how unreliable the narrator is. I can't even count how many times i've read it at this point.
When I saw the Parker book was like awesome reading. Love that series. Highly recommend watching The Outfit with Robert Duvall as "Parker". Donald Westlake aka Richard Stark loved all the B movie actors in it. It stuck close to the book.
In the thumbnail I saw the tiredness on your face and the puffiness in your eyes after reading books for 24 hours straight and this made the video realistic and actually made me click on the video, nice game.
I periodically consider doing a 24 hour challenge and then I remember I’m too old for that. Need my sleep!! I recommend reading Leviathan Awakes by James S.A. Corey. It’s the first book in The Expanse series. Sooo good!!! And the show on Prime is so good too!!!!!
I’m a literary/historical fiction girly and I’m obsessed with Kristin Hannah’s books. I’ve read The Women and The Great Alone and they are both amazing!
Ian, my face when I saw you and Ashlynn posted could have lighten up a room. I love both of your channels so much! You guys are such sweet and funny people! I can't wait to see what 2025 brings to your channels❤
Clicked on this vid by accident from my subscriptions list, watched the whole thing for your retention time lol hehe. Entertaining, good edits, keep it up!
Yeah so....half a book into Red Rising (it took a while to get to it, ok, blame Ashlynn, I had to read The Naturals first...anyway) -- I don't know whether to thank you or hate you forever because I'm crying a lot but WOW what a ride. LOL. Also, this is a super cool challenge idea!
juste finished the iron king like yesterday , what a coincidence to see you read the strangled queen lol is it a coincidence tho if one of the reason i picked the serie apart of me wanting some french read is one of your videos i love that serie , also on the cousin issue , marriage between first cousin was chill back then and is still chill in like a lot of places but cousin in that context can mean someone in a house tied to them , like the grandsons of a cadet house are cousins for the rincipal line
You pronouncing the german Schlachthof made me laugh 😂 so I just came up with this great advice to pronounce the „ch“ like rolling an r but with more aggression (best description, I know) 😂 and then there’s also more an emphasis on the „o“ in hof and not on the „f“ so it is Schlachhhhhthoooof hahaha okay I‘ll stop here. Love your video and the editing. Hope you got some nice sleep after this
Hello Ian, do you ever read John Grisham? He's one of my favorite authors. You've definitely inspired me to read more Stephen King and more fantasy. I really enjoy your channel and I'm also loving Ashlynns channel. You are both so fun to watch 😊
My favorite genre is fantasy and well you’ve already read my favorite books in that genre(LOTR, HP, etc…) but my second favorite genre is classics and I think you should try to read a Dickens novel(my favorites by him are Little Dorrit & Nicholas Nickleby)!
If you appreciated the dark humor, absurdity, and unreliable narrator of Slaughterhouse 5, I think you will love Catch 22. It is another anti-war book from an author who served in WW 2.
I wish I could read as fast as you, but I am slow reader. A consistent one, so I still read over 100 books a year. The best book I read last year was Wyvern by AA Attanasio. I’m definitely going to put Larry McMurtry on my TBR. At least to read Lonesome Dove, but terms of endearment sounds amazing. So far my favorite western is True Grit… sorry this comment is all over the place.
My Friend, I absolutely dig your channel. Great book reviews, great humour. All in all… Fantastic…!! I was wondering if you’ve ever read Existence by David Brin? A great Sci Fi stand alone Novel. If not then I thoroughly recommend it 100%. Have a good one
Awesome video 😊💯‼️ I know what Terms of Endearment is about as I have seen the movie it’s great and it’s sad but I love the sequel The Evening Star. Also I didn’t know that Terms of Endearment was a book. 😊 My favourite genre is a little of everything but mostly I read middle grade and ya books because I have ADHD and dyslexia so I have so many books that I never as a kid. I do have a fantasy recommendation for you to check out and it might a good video idea and that the Brandon Sanderson books. 😊
For anyone who likes Larry Mcmurtry, terms of endearment is book 3 in his Houston series (I believe all can be read as stand alones) book 1, Moving On, is such a great underrated novel by Mcmurtry.
My favorite genres are Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I have only read one Vonnegut novel and that was Galapagos. I read it when I was inn High School in the 90s, I enjyed it, but found it to be really weird.
I've read for about 16 hours straight and let me tell you something. Your eyes lose all ability to look at something, everything is doubled and blurry.
I was today year's old when I found out that one of my favorite movies (Terms of Endearment) was written by the same author as one of my favorite books (Lonesome Dove).
My favorite genres are thriller and horror😊..Two of my 5 star thrillers are Falling by TJ Newman and None of this is True by Lisa Jewell. For horror it would be The Troop by Nick Cutter, Misery & Pet Sematary by Stephen King, AND Fantasticland😊
Favorite Genre is Mystery, especially the traditional detective fiction, i.e. detective and sidekick, and police procedural. Sir Arthur Conan Doyal, Edgar Allen Poe, the father of detective fiction with the Murder at Rouge Morgue. Jeffery Deaver’s Lincoln Rhymes novels, Martha Grimes, Richard Jury series, Debora Crombie, Sue Grafton and her hard boiled Kinsey Millhone detective, and Louise Penny. Fantasy novels like the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher and the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, Dune, and Tolkien. Historical Fiction, finish reading War & Peace. Classic books like Little Women and Jane Eyre are on my TBR list this year. I also want to read some books made into films by Hitchcock: Rebecca, Vertigo, and The Lady Vanishes. Along with rereading Strangers on a Train. Perhaps pick up The Birds. Also I have read historical mystery novels by Charles Todd. I will do quick romantic reads when I am fumbling about for something to read quick and a change of pace.
I really appreciate your videos. I love to read, but I have a memorization/comprehension problem. And that bugs me, especially when I’m reading scripture. Any ways you could help?
My favorite genre is cozy fantasy, I love a high fantasy moment but being able to wrap up in a cozy book and just enjoy the world building is one of my favorite things. My favorite cozy fantasy is bookshops and bonedust by Travis Baldree, although his first book legends and lattes is also one I hold in my heart and think about every day. Literally.
Maurice Druon is great, but if I could recommend the best historical fiction author, it would be Sharon Kay Penman. I started with Here Be Dragons, which is amazing, but I think her best work is The Sunne in Splendour. Splendour is in my top 5 books of all time. I really admire how true Penman is to history-if something happened a certain way, she’ll write it, no matter how jarring it may be to the narrative. I learned so much history fact-checking her because I couldn’t believe how events unfolded. It’s a doorstopper, though-not that I think that will discourage you! She has over 20,000 reviews of the book on Goodreads and it is highly rated. Please check it out! I also enjoy both your channels! My husband and I buddy read books, so it’s nice to see kindred spirits in you and Ashlynn.🙂
I'm so bummed I listened to Terms of Endearment instead of reading my physical copy. I disliked the book so much but I wasn't as connected to the text.
I would NOT recommend reading House of Leaves in 24 hours. Enjoy it at your own pace.... You'll need to! You could definitely read Guards! Guards! in a day though! Easily!!
BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AND REPENT FOR SINS MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN CHRIST JESUS LOVES YOU IN JESUS NAME AMEN ✝️❤️🙏 GOD IS WITH YOU AND HE LOVES YOU
I genuinely adore how you and Ashlynn have the same upload schedule, it’s so cute to me lol
The editing and humor just keeps getting better and better😂

I feel good watching someone who reads at a normal pace. You get these people who read 300 pages in an hour. How!?
The voiceovers with each genre 😂
One of my favorites BookTube days, it is when you and your wife release videos.
The one time I tried doing a readathon I ended up getting sick.
Loooooove the editing; the music; the books; EVERYTHING! Another amazing video, Ian!
Continue shining and striving!
i appreciate the new sounds effects. nice job man
OK Ian, you need to read pillars of the earth or the Kingsbridge Priory series by Ken Follett. And if you have just ignore me❤
I prefer early Follett novels, his spy thrillers. The Key to Rebecca and Eye of the Needle, to be exact. My husband says his later novels felt he was being paid by word, since they veered away from spy thrillers, and thus I avoided them.
Great video Ian. The sleep drunk parts videos were especially hilarious.😂
I started crying when I saw you reading toward the end of Terms of Endearment. Such a beautiful story of beautifully flawed people. I loved them so much. I'm really glad you got to read this. I may have to read it again. Thank you for bringing it back into my orbit. ❤
I love that you read Slaughterhouse-Five finally! However, you should give it another go when you’re not depriving yourself of sleep. 😜😂
Maurice Druon is a literary icon, I’m so glad he’s around in BookTube and getting recognition for his amazing work.
Ahhh you and Ashlynn uploading at the same time ! Where do I go?! What do I do ?!
In the thumbnail I saw the tiredness on your face and the puffiness in your eyes after reading books for 24 hours straight and this made the video realistic and actually made me click on the video, nice game.
I've had a copy of Slaughterhouse Five on my shelf for so long. I've never got around to reading it, but I think I have to at some point this year.
I love your and Ashlynn’s channels!! Keep up the great work you guys!! You are amazing!!
Im starting to think Ian’s worst enemy isn’t his TBR pile but his sleep schedule
I have a problem😂
YAYY an ian postttt
I periodically consider doing a 24 hour challenge and then I remember I’m too old for that. Need my sleep!!
I recommend reading Leviathan Awakes by James S.A. Corey. It’s the first book in The Expanse series. Sooo good!!! And the show on Prime is so good too!!!!!
I’m a literary/historical fiction girly and I’m obsessed with Kristin Hannah’s books. I’ve read The Women and The Great Alone and they are both amazing!
Fantasy is my favorite genre with the entire Realm of the Elderlings being my favorite books
Been having *a day* and this video made me smile so much! Thanks, Ian 😊
Great video and I’m glad you enjoyed the books!
I attempted this challenge myself just before new year and reeeaaallly struggled with it, kudos to you for making this video!
this 24 hour challenge was extra funny lol thanks for the great content
Ian, my face when I saw you and Ashlynn posted could have lighten up a room. I love both of your channels so much! You guys are such sweet and funny people! I can't wait to see what 2025 brings to your channels❤
Loving the MINNESOTA sweatshirt ❤❤❤
The land of 10,000 lakes ❤

I’m so happy I found your channel!
18:54 This I'm afraid, Ian... Is Ur legacy 😂😂😂
It just happened in my latest video I’m filming at the moment🤦♂️
Yeah so....half a book into Red Rising (it took a while to get to it, ok, blame Ashlynn, I had to read The Naturals first...anyway) -- I don't know whether to thank you or hate you forever because I'm crying a lot but WOW what a ride. LOL. Also, this is a super cool challenge idea!

I just finished Lonesome Dove. In love
I like all genres ❤❤❤ horror is pretty high up tho and thrillers 😊
The respect I have for you for doing so many of these 24 hour challenges is insane dude😂❤
Hello Ian, do you ever read John Grisham? He's one of my favorite authors. You've definitely inspired me to read more Stephen King and more fantasy. I really enjoy your channel and I'm also loving Ashlynns channel. You are both so fun to watch 😊
Best channel on YT
I wouldn't have the concentration patience if that's a thing to do this. But more power to you
My favorite genre is fantasy and well you’ve already read my favorite books in that genre(LOTR, HP, etc…) but my second favorite genre is classics and I think you should try to read a Dickens novel(my favorites by him are Little Dorrit & Nicholas Nickleby)!
Hello Ian!! I just found you and Ashlynn and I love you two!!
Glad you're here! 😁
I really want to read more historical fiction this year I own the Iron King and a bunch of Bernard Cornwall books that I’m excited to read!!!
If you appreciated the dark humor, absurdity, and unreliable narrator of Slaughterhouse 5, I think you will love Catch 22. It is another anti-war book from an author who served in WW 2.

Great vlog as usual. I like romance and thrillers and mysteries. I like anything by James Patterson.

Sci-fi is my go to genre and you should definitely read House of Suns by Alastair Reynolds
You are so funny 😂
I've seen different youtubers do 24hr challenges and I always wonder how many stay awake all night.
Sweet merciful mother goose HAHAHA
I want to see you do romantasy!

I didn't really like Slaughterhouse Five. Weird. You just made me want to read it again. To give it another chance.
My favorite genres are Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I have only read one Vonnegut novel and that was Galapagos. I read it when I was inn High School in the 90s, I enjyed it, but found it to be really weird.

Idk how you did 24 hours but bravo. I want to do a reading vlog but I’m like should I start with 12 hours lol
Some really great genres are fantasy, horror, history, and theology.
I was today year's old when I found out that one of my favorite movies (Terms of Endearment) was written by the same author as one of my favorite books (Lonesome Dove).
Great video Ian 🤘 would love to recommend one of my favourite books. Perdido Street Station by China Mieville. Think you would love it.
EAST OF EDEN

My favorite genres are thriller and horror😊..Two of my 5 star thrillers are Falling by TJ Newman and None of this is True by Lisa Jewell. For horror it would be The Troop by Nick Cutter, Misery & Pet Sematary by Stephen King, AND Fantasticland😊
Translated fiction - the travelling cat chronicles or before the coffee gets cold
Yes! You teared up….or shall I say started to cry 😢…for Terms of Endearment! Watch the movie! Cry some more 😅

Annotations make all the difference.
@ I do that with scripture sometimes, but never with a “normal” book.
@@Twiceborn_by_grace Well it's super helpful with comprehension. Give it a try.
@@rebeccaa2433 maybe. 🤷🏾♂️
Hi favorite book general is hysterical fiction the Ferris Prince by Jennifer Nielson
Omg I’m so early and I love it
New subscriber here.
What do you listen to while you read? Or are you just muffling outside sound with no music?
Hey Ian , should I read The Stand or 11/22/63 for my first Stephen King book?
11/2263!!! Much shorter😉
Swan Song, by Robert McCammon
My favorite genre is cozy fantasy, I love a high fantasy moment but being able to wrap up in a cozy book and just enjoy the world building is one of my favorite things. What do you listen to while you read?
Happy 2025. My first book for this year was Night Shift. What a book. 😳
😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What do you listen to when you read?
Colour me curious but I have to ask: what are you listening to while reading these books?
I started Slaughterhouse 5 but I just couldn't get past of the war part and I really didn't care about that.
Maurice Druon is great, but if I could recommend the best historical fiction author, it would be Sharon Kay Penman. You could definitely read Guards! Guards! in a day though! Easily!!
3:52 “How do you write women so well?”
“I think of a man and then I remove all reason and accountability”
Ian genuinely do not do this again. What it does to your brain isn’t worth it.
