I've been eating plant based for a few years now including during my pregnancy, I am currently breastfeeding my 5 month old baby and he is absolutely thriving 🥰
My boy is 100% plant based (whole food) since birth and so is and was his Mother while and before pregnancy. He is 2 years young. Wad never sick. Has the cleanest skin. Lots of hair. Is prerry strong but leaner than most others. And everyone - seriously everyone - is saying how damn beautiful cute and smart he is. I can't proof it is the diet but I know it is part of it. Other part is my Genes of course 😎
I appreciated the fact that the pollutants build up the higher you go in the food chain. Didn't think it would make such a difference. Great video as always!
I've have vegan pregnancies and 1 non-vegan pregnancy (my first). My vegan pregnancies were all healthier. However, there was only a 4 oz difference birthweight between my two girls (one vegan preg vs. non veg.) and my last vegan pregnancy yielded a healthy nearly 11lb boy. I am pregnant again now and am enjoying surprising my healthcare providers with my low blood pressure and how healthy I am despite their misconceptions about veganism.
Thank you so much for this video. Since I'm pregnant right now with my first child trying to do as much plant-based as possible, everybody keeps telling me it's unhealthy for the child to be plant based.. It's so good to know, that it's possible!! And thank you also for the book recommendations, will look into it. Could you maybe do a video about nthe best natural sources for calcium during pregnancy? That would be awesome 👍. Thank you!
Thank you for these videos. I just purchased both the recommended books :) I so appreciate the information you give to us - and it's harder to find good information for pregnancy! Bless you x
You can cook the flaxseeds (in a wet state) if you would like to remove as much cyanide as possible. The quantity of cyanide you'd get from taking a few hundred micrograms of cyanocobalamin is to small to be worth thinking about.
@@danielkruyt9475 i know flaxseed cyanide dissolves in a wet hot state but when you are talking about pregnancy you do want to avoid even small amounts (unless it had been proved that the liver takes care of pollutants before they reach the fetus). So my question still stands (plus some supplements use flaxseed flour as a filler).
I have just noticed that you are now describing the vegan diet as vegetarian. Vegetarian used to always include eggs & dairy. I have also recently noticed that the latter are now being described as lacto-ovo vegetarians. I like this because it is more accurate. “Vegetarian” intuitively implies plants only. Also, vegans get all huffy if one describes oneself as vegan but doesn’t go the whole hog by giving up leather & wool. And toiletries and household products tested on animals. Let them be vegan. And the diet-only vegans be vegetarian.
Prenatal vitamins are recommended to all pregnant and breastfeeding mothers regardless of diet. Vitamin D everyone not close to the equator should take and B12 is shown to be low across all diets as well because it comes from bacteria, not animals. We live in a more sterile world and 90% of our b12 supplements are fed to livestock so if your eating meat your still getting a supplement, just indirectly. The study showed 80% of mothers didn't have enough DHA in their milk, that included all diets. So taking the same vitamins that other mothers should also take while avoiding pollutants that other mothers have is a win in my mind but I guess you'd rather have the toxins while also needing to take the same vitamins...
@@crb2061 then you would not be vegan and be under such scrutiny. I’m just joking around. My wife and I are vegan and we have a healthy boy who is now 5 vegan all the way. She made a baby and made breast milk just perfectly on vegan diet

Did you vaccinate him? I heard that after vaccines kids start to get sick 🤷♀️
@@InnaShabanova Some may but the vast majority don't and they benefit from not getting the diseases that they're vaccinated against.

Another fantastic video. I wish I had known better 20 years agoo when I had my kids! This should be common info! Thanks for spreading the word!!

Please do a video on choline supplements for pregnant vegan. Dose recommendations, etc. please.
In your opinion, what is the safest way to prepare hibiscus tea or drink, given the elimination of oxalates?
I love this channel!
Are flaxseeds and cyanocobalamin safe during pregnancy due to liver needing to detox cyanide?

That wasn't him, that was the study he was referencing. Whole Food Plant Based is pretty clear.
So the diet is only good based on which food source don’t get chemical pollution? And not skimping on vitamins supplements? WTH

Add a few ham and cheese sandwiches as a precaution then you dont Have to worry about your diet whatsoever!
How would that help?
