It's 2024 and I have been researching hygiene care products to start a small business. I'm a mother of 10, that homeschools, runs a small farm, full-time house wife, and I try to teach my children about God daily. My goal is to bless others by making products that are healthy and healing for their needs while making a small income to help pay bills since everything is crazy here in America. Your videos have been a true blessing and I am truly grateful for you. You are a beautiful soul 💖

Massively helpful orientation to what the oils are all about; I have been wanting to get informed now that I e made my first 4 batches! Which I made thanks to you, Elly! And used your oil percentages to start from your beginner’s video. You are such a natural born teacher - clear and simple, yet tackling the complexities - and I experience you as guileless and kind and genuine and in earnest and your integrity shines through as well as a good heart. It’s gems like you that make the Internet a better place! Thank you for your efforts and generosity in gathering and sharing your knowledge in video as well as putting it in written form on your website! I will be the first to buy your books when they come out! Hint hint. :-) Anybody else agree?

    What can I say?
No matter what, it will be too little. Watched dozens of other soap making videos, etc. (Couldn't follow, or it was always something missing for me)
After watching another video of yours *soap recepie formulating* and now this one, I can proudly say you are the best!...
You graduated me with this one..
Literary for both videos I would have paid for it, and they were free. (Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy you a coffee).
For all you have given me, it's my turn to return the favor..
Your work and efforts are very much appreciated from my heart.
    Thank you, Mrs. Elly 🙏

Thank you so much for this video! It has been a concern to me, because I want to make more moisturizing opposed to cleansing soaps, now that I am older. I found following other soap makers their tendency to utilize the higher cleansing properties that I have found drying and my friends have been embarrassed to tell me so! I have found your insight so helpful, I thought I couldn’t deter away from what others have said, and looking at provided SAP charts, I became a rule follower. I know as an aesthetician what provides the best moisturizing properties but the fatty acid break down has been enormous for me! It will also be a cost saver.

Hi Elly. This is a good presentation you make. I just would like to add that it is always the big corporations that make money out of any agriculture products including oils. The farmers? The real farmers who work and break their bones in the farms, not so much. Even with palm oil produced in the poor countries you mentioned, the money, richess and wealth do not go to the farmers. The farmers just try to put food on their tables with the meager pay they receive.

I went to a soapmaking class few years ago. But I found many unanswered questions, which lead me to the internet & youtube. Then I found your video about introduction to soapmaking. The material in the class was no where near the materials you have been sharing in your videos these past few years. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Elly 💜
I live in southeast asia, interestingly soap made with 70% - 75% or even 100% olive oil are quite popular. I think it's because those who like high % olive oil spend a lot of time in air conditioned space.

I love how you break down information. You do it as if you were a scientist, and you might as well be one. It could get even more technical, but that would not really be necessary for most watching and wanting to start soap making.

Hello Elly! I have been making soap since 2010. I have been making soap using a recipe from the class. It was an olive, coconut and palm oil recipe. The teacher didn't talk about calculators in the class. This means I knew anything about calculators. Months after one day I was talking to the teacher and she mentioned it. Because I started watching soap making videos on TH-cam and some of them advice to run any recipe through a calculator, I looked for the calculator and it was very hard to understand because I knew anything about saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. I don't even remember the name of the calculator. Since then, I have heard of soap calculators Brambleberry, From Nature with Love, The Sage (something like that) and others, but they weren't of any help. They didn't give any useful information, at least for me, until I heard of Soap Calc. I looked for Soap Calc but I didn't have a clue of the information in the calculator. The great thing about Soap Calc is that it has explanation of some of the things in it. The other thing I find out is that the recipe given in the class and that I was using for years was 53 in cleansing which is higher than the range given in Soap Calc. Since 2020, I have been watching even more soap making videos. Also decided to change the recipe because I am starting a business and I want a soap that people love and come back for more. I started looking for videos on how to use Soap Calc and videos/article about how to make your own recipe. Also, I found articles on how to switch oils in your recipe because I wanted to leave out palm oil. I have to order all the oils online. They were good but not as detailed as your video. By far, this is the best video about Soap Calc and that explains the acids in oils that I have come across. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. 🧼💛💙💜

I am just picking up again in my soap making after nearly three years on hiatus and had a “writer’s block” of sorts. This helps tremendously to understand these fatty acids and what they contribute to a bar! And further more I will click every link for further research!

Wow, Wow, Wow, Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge, This is a lot of research and work you have done when most would charge to teach. I've never seen in any video how the fatty acids were broken down in section with the example oils. I've been soaping for a couple of years but never took the time to do deep research. Thank you so much for your clarity it has help me tremendously. You are an awesome soap maker! Thank you again.
