    I have a 2020 1250 GSA and agree with you that your confidence is increased with this bike. It is magical how this bike does not feel like such a big bike.

    Outstanding review mate. Loved the humour you inject into your videos, that's for sure. Front setup is called Tele-lever suspension and the rear is called Para-lever. Works a bloody treat as it prevents front dive when braking heavily. Beautiful bike in either the GS variant or the big GS Adventure model. Both bikes are incredible long range tourers. And yes, I am in my underwear!! 🤣🤣🤣.

  • @darkerbest8492
    @darkerbest8492 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    23:48 that "extra suspension" is actually the real suspension, inside the fork there is only oil. That's why the GS has softer suspensions than other bikes, it's a technology that BMW uses on this bike for 13 years now

  • @SW737Flyer
    @SW737Flyer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You need to explore the other settings - Dynamic Pro, Enduro Pro. Also, adjust the suspension to other settings. Better wheelies to be had in Dynamic Pro. Don’t forget, the bike’s software is designed to protect you from wheelying if not in the correct setting.

    I have one of this...the standard GS...2021 model....Rallye trim.
    Yes it is a good bike overall. Just enough power for me....monstrous torque though...making it easy to ride off road without the need to rev up high....i m not a good rider but the bike makes me feel like otherwise.

    When i tried the BMW, went for the GS1200 and when they upgraded the engine That was pretty better I swapped to the GS1250 R. I enjoyed both bikes but couldn’t get “in love” with them. They were a very comfy ride, no doubts abou that but never had that sensation of being fulfilled owning each one of this bikes and I truly can’t say they’re not good bikes , because they are. But felt always that something was missing…

    As a fellow KTM enthusiast (I have a 500exc, 690 Enduro and a 990 Adventure R) and my own motorcycle shop where I work on most brands, it’s good to see someone else take a big BMW Starbucks cruiser off road! I maintain a rental fleet that features BMW 750-1250’s and I took a new 1250 Rallye on a road trip and off road where I experienced much the same as you did. The boxer engine that makes that bike work well is also hazardous to your physical well-being! Even standing, the crash bars behind the cylinders dig into your shins!

I did 10,118 miles on my trip last summer, including nearly 1,300 miles in the dirt (Dempster Highway to the Arctic Ocean and The Top of the World Highway into Alaska). I’m doing the WYBDR this summer and Baja off-road in the Spring. Guess I’m the other 2%.

    My questions is why even turn off abs. That could have saved you in most those situations where you needed more traction. Letting the abs pulse while going up hill will limit wheel slip.

    • @LifeofSmokey
      @LifeofSmokey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just full throttle it most of time , i prefer old school bikes with no electronics 😁

    • @dubbartolec549
      @dubbartolec549 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ABS will not pulse unless brake is pressed. One will rarely be squeezing brake while going uphill. Maybe you mistaken it for traction control. I usually disable it on loose surface as it cuts off engine. In fact not having traction control helps going uphill as wheel is turning and pushing bike forward.

    You have to try the "standard" GS, not the adventure, with knobbies and the akrapovic exhaust. It has the same power, a bit lower, 20 kg (!!) lighter and not so wide 😁👍🏼

    Get rid of the tall windscreen if doing a lot of offroad. Your face will thank you sooner or later.
    Also look at doing an offroad training given by BMW itself, they have a huge Enduropark in Hechlingen Germany and you'll be able to ride big bikes offroad 10x better.
