I just started watching your channel ... I really enjoy content about BASS ... You seem like someone who is honest and unbiased and just wants to figure them out ... I really enjoy the underwater footage ... thanks for your work and time that you put in to share this .... I will definitely be following you ... I've watched a few of your videos at this point and they have all been stellar ... great job.
Thank you so much for covering this topic once again Steve.. A couple of weeks ago I fished a little local tournament as a co-angler. About mid morning My boater pulls us into the back of a Creek channel. In front of us was a picture perfect postcard looking shallow bank of about 40 yards with wonderful overhanging cover providing a shade line from end to end. He promptly dropped his Poles With the front of the boat pointing at all that cover. Instead of getting annoyed about once again being backboated, I began to look for something different that I could throw at within my reach. To my left, and slightly behind us I noticed an old abandoned dock About 15' long and maybe 5' wide. It was falling apart and looked as though it was decades old. I picked up a green gizard shad strike king hybrid hunter, and threw it parallel to the dock. My 2nd cast caught one just over 4. My 4th caught another just over 3. After 4 more casts, I picked up a Structure jig, and skipped it underneath and pulled out another beauty just a hair under 5 lbs. Using your theory I boated 12 lbs of bass in under 10 casts!! Of course, at that point my boater decided to turn the boat so he could start throwing over there.. To no luck I would add..lol! I'm still smiling.. Your videos are the best, And your advice is once again priceless... I am a better angler these days because of them..Please keep them coming...
@@SteveRogersOutdoors Even better than the catches is the feeling of confidence it gives me that it was not just a lucky once in a lifetime morning on the water. I now see those challenges as exciting instead of daunting.. having knowledge, and executing a plan in every situation is a true game changer.. in life, and on the water for sure... thanks again
Wow! Great video Steve! I have a concept or two that I use mostly when I’m out finishing in Tennessee and out here in So Cal. I research a certain body of water, find “ the best looking creek arm” for the specific time of year. Then, I enter that creek arm, “ close the door “ and treat that arm as if it were the entire lake. When I do this I have found that I can find those sweet spots and be hyper focused on the terrain in front of me. The other, as you’ve mentioned in past videos is, fishing up hill... deadly!
Yes! I had this once 90% of fish in 10% of the water. Deep into some backwater where a small ditch run into the main ditch plus pepper grass was all around it. I could sink my trolling motor in the mud, never move, and catch 14-18lbs in 5 bass with a flipping stick and frog. Now it's filled in and Lilly pads instead of pepper grass and no bass..
Great video Steve! Ya, nothing like evidence to prove your point! I have a couple of trips planned next month. Planning on doing some cranking ( shallow, mid, and deep ), jerkbait, and free rig fishing. This evidence with be helpful when I’m on the water. Thanks 🏄🏼♂️🎣🙏🏻
Yes, a honey hole is definitely the goal. Keep searching and I know you'll find one of those little places that just keeps producing. It is nice that bank fishing offers a lot of stealth and the ability to sneak up to a spot. When I make it that way some time we'll have to go out and fish!
@@shannonkirby9295 I'm working on getting a truck and truck camper so I can pull the boat everywhere I go. I don't have it yet, but when I do I plan on spending most of my time on the road and getting a chance to meet and fish with great folks like you! I'm so looking forward to it - but man, those nice truck campers are expensive!
@@SteveRogersOutdoors I would think so. Lol. I want to tell you that you have the most soothing voice and personality. That means a lot to me. I believe you are a very good man. Be safe
Have you ever fished the harris chain down in Florida? My college is walking distance from the lakes and I was wondering if you have any experience there.
That is one place I have not had a chance to come and fish a lot, but I have fished Lake Toho. The shellbeds on Toho can hold some big fish both in numbers and size. I really like fishing soft and hard jerkbaits fished over the vegetation to locate some fish and then slow down and pick apart an area where I find them. Then I will switch over to punching rigs, etc.
Hey Steve how often do you take that underwater drone out when you get ready to go fishing and ZIP down a bank you know that they're on and go okay yep looks like they're holding on wood or they're on grass today or they're on Rock today or they're on this today or whatever LOL you can't tell me you don't use that thing my buddy and I were watching your video and we were like we need to buy one of those LOL
I have intended to, but what happens is once I start running that thing I completely forget about the fishing part. It is just so fascinating to keep driving it around looking at stuff. Lol
@@SteveRogersOutdoors lol , I'm guessing some day in the future there will be live scope drones lol! (You should probably patent it now ) just remember me when you do and kick a brother a few bones so I can retire early and bass fish until the end 😂 tight lines brother
The back bay I mostly fish is drowned flooded timber and weeds. There's an area where there are a number of scattered glacial erratic boulders and guess what. There's never any fish there. They must be too happy with all the wood and weeds everywhere else.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors when we scuba dive the bass are really interested in us being in there area. I can only imagine how interested they are when your rvo camera enters their area. Thanks
