    I don't have any videos, but my car has recently gone 11.9s at 118+ mph. Stock converter, gears, motor, full weight, Nitto drag radials, driven to the track, and daily driven 20k miles/year.
    You won't find anyone that disagrees that the LS1 >>> 2v, 3v, or 4v NA. But when a little boost is thrown into the equation with a 4 valve, this conversation takes a drastic change. 03/04 Cobra was THE car to beat from '03 until '11 when the new 5.0 came out. Now it's the car to beat. Can't argue that.

    Being a GM guy and owning a '99 T/A myself I think these new 5.0's are sick. The only thing I would worry about with them is parts cost and availability. Sure they're faster than say a 4th gen F-body, but when it breaks the dealership sure isn't gonna pay for parts that were broken on a track... I know that with my LS1 parts are more readily available and most likely cheaper just due to the aftermarket on them.... Still though. Great job Ford!

    Didn't say they couldn't do it. With the LS1 f-bodies, 12s were the exception. With the new 5.0s, 12s are the rule.
    I personally rode along with a guy (down the 1/4 mile) with a new 5.0, 100% stock on the stock street tires, at about 1200 feet of DA, on his FIRST ever trip to the drag strip. He ran an 12.7 @ 112...WITH ME IN THE CAR. Nothing at all special about the weather or track, either.
    All things equal, a new 5.0 is a solid .5-.7 seconds faster than an f-body.

    You are mistaken. I am NOT on ANY GM forums.
    I, too, drive a supercharged Mustang. Makes 325 rwhp, and went 12.60s this past weekend on the stock NPI long block, on only 6 pounds of boost, with stock gears and a stock automatic tranny.
    I agree that LS motors are great; never said they weren't. But it's being proven time and time again, both on the track and dyno, that the new 5.0 is well ahead of the LS3s.
    I also agree LS1>SOHC 4.6, but I'd say LS1=DOHC 4.6.

    That built 5.0 has the stock heads, cams, and intake. Built block, forged rods and pistons.
    That Vette is bad, don't get me wrong. BUT it does have ported heads and a cam, and is probably 300-400 pounds lighter than the 5.0. Revert those things back to stock, and add 400 pounds to the Vette, and it would take race gas and slicks to run 8s.
    EP's 5.0 ran 9s on the stock everything motor. And they never blew it up. So that stock motor may have ran 8s for all we know.

    While I understand your point, I don't entirely agree. Multiple times, I've personally seen a stock 5.0 and a stock Camaro SS dyno on the same day on the same dyno, and the 5.0 has put down 5-10 rwhp more every time. And the 5.0 has over a liter less displacement.
    Therefore, I don't really see how you can say the 5.0 doesn't measure up.

    Oh yea, absolutely agree with you. LS1s are still awesome motors, and are very easy to make power out of. I've lost to several of them with minimal mods in my supercharged Mustang. BUT, the Coyote is making more power out of less displacement and is slowing putting the GM and Mopar motors in their place. : )

    @sneaky98gt Maybe they did use the stock heads etc.,but not the cams,nor the rods,nor the pistons. Its a full race engine built by L&M. RP Motorsports built an 8 second LS7 Z06 with using the stock block, stock crank, stock heads, and stock LS7 intake. The Z06 went a faster 8.81 @ 154 on 93 octane in early 2009 compared to Evolution's 8.89 at 148 ON RACE GAS! Did i mention the vette ran it on drag RADIALS and the 5.0 ran on Mickey Thompson ET Drags? Not bad for old technology and the LS motors

    @sneaky98gt Think it depends how you compare the engines. The LS3 is a one cam 16v ohv, 40lbs lighter than the new 5.0 (4 ohc 32v massive heads), dimensionally smaller and less compression, just as fuel efficient. High rotational mass timing chains in the DOHC have had problems in long high sustained rpms. Both great engines that suit different purposes. LS3/LS7 won Gobal Motorsports top engine of the year back in 06/07. Look up Katech engines & Pratt and Miller (where LSx were race developed)

    Yea, you are right. I didn't even think about them. I stand corrected.
    And to be honest, I like the 6.0 GTOs. I've driven a couple, and they are really nice cars. I like them way better than the LS1 F-bodies and TAs, and even though my car is faster in a straight line, they are way more of a car than my Mustang.

    Ok guys, I just used a stopwatch to time the difference between when the Mustang tripped the lights, and when the Trans Am tripped them. I did it 3 times to get a decent average. And the average is . . . wait for it . . . 0.9 seconds. STUCK RIGHT WITH IT?! CLOSE?! NOPE, DON'T THINK SO!!!!! The Trans Am WAS a hell of a car, in 2001. But today, unless it has H/C/I swap the Mustang rapes it. I've personally done so 3 times in my 2011 GT. The TA is still a classic, long live DOMESTICS!!!

    Yup, I am 19. AND I have a daily driven Mustang that goes mid 12s. I paid for all the parts, and did ALL of the labor myself. I've grown up around cars and racing all my life. What's so hard to take seriously about me?
    Why are we even arguing about LS1s and 4.6s? I said in one of my first posts here "LS motors used to be the best, but they aren't anymore." Do you disagree with that?

    not bad for the TA at all. just goes to show fords innovations really havent taken them that much further.....although at least they went forward....GM did however go backwards after 2002-2005 ish, 98-02 best years.

    i absolutly agree with u ,,, thats why u mustangs dude are always haters ,i am a trans am lover and owner but when i see a mustang i fall in love to it cuz it is still a muscle car too and it started this from the begining ook i agree ,and about the years and stuff its not the worse years for the mustang,,,it is enough for me that my 02 trans am beat a mustang 09 with better condition and better milage and better every thing , its an accomplish for the trans am we all know that!!! face it!!

    Buick Grand National ran around that 15 years ago with stock internals. GM DID do it and GM also had a DOHC 32 V motor back in 90 or 91 with the ZR1. Ford isn't employing some new revolutionary technology lol..they are just making some changes right now at this time. Props to ford, move on kid.

    We'll you don't have to take offense to what i said, I was just stating my taste. I think all the camaro guys just need to stick together instead of hating because their camaro is different. I mean in the end, a camaro is a camaro and each generation has their flaws and advantages, and well, the looks just suit of each one suit different people.

    Actually, I'm surprised at how well the LS1 stuck with him considering it was made 14 years ago. Sort of makes the Mustang a disappointment.

    I'd have to agree with bassjackass on this one, those fourth generation camaros aren't really that cool. And I kinda like the third gens for their aggressive 80's look.
    I will always be a classic camaro fan though, my dad owns a red one that is just beautiful.

    Not even close. Mustang has a better motor, transmission, rear gear ratio, handling, braking, fuel mileage, interior,.....everything?
    Sticking next to it? Maybe the one in this video was within several tenths of a second, but as a whole, the two are not comparable. Stock 5.0 on street tires will run 12.7s all day; stock LS1 on drag radials will not crack a 12 unless the planets align just right.
    Bolt on LS1 will go 12s; bolt on 5.0 will go 11s. No comparison, really.

    the new GT's move well and run well. Im not bashing on it. But to say GM is ignoring new technology is ridiculous (especially when you use a race build to support it while it was something that was already done with a GM engine).
    The Direct Injected 3.6's in the CTS and V6 Camaros are far more sophisticated that even the new 5.0. With all that said this 2011 5.0GT is the first NA car ford has produced with impressive performance numbers since they went to OHC in in 1996. Its about time

    @SuperSportfan1 u are dead wrong about the sales on the fourth gens because the n/a lt1s and the n/a ls1s camaros were flat kicking the shit out of the n/a mustangs so they were not out selling them and look on camaro 5.con and u will see that the new camaros have out sold the mustangs by 33% and caused a ford plant in detroit to shut down because of the slow sales and as far for the weight issue chevy is going to the alpha platform which is about 350 to 400 lbs lighter

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. GM is blatantly ignoring new technology, like that used in the new 5.0, and they are quickly falling behind (as if they already aren't).
    Evolution Performance just ran 8.80s in the 1/4 mile with a new 5.0. Stock heads, cams, and intake. Show me a ls3 doing that.

    GM isn't doing something right. Because if they were it wouldn't have taken a government bailout to keep from going bankrupt.
    Ok, we won't compare race engines. Stock for stock: the 5.0 makes more power with less displacement (without boost), and gets better fuel economy. How's that for technology?
    More sophisticated than the twin independent variable camshaft timing dual overhead cam V8 Coyote? LOL!

    well, the ls1 was at the time the better motor!! not any more!! chevy guy's have such a hard time admitting that the current ford mustang is such a better and faster car than the current camaro. i guess after having a camaro that was faster than mustang from 93-2002 or 03, i would be pissed also now that the mustang is quicker. bout time ford. and not bad either pushin 412 hp out of naturally aspirated 302 cube's..

    ummmm trans am is and was and still the uncle of the muscle cars for me its a car why cuz i own one 2002 convertible auto with onlly flowmasters cat back and custom y pipe and i raced 4.6 and the were nothing cmooon 2009 ,stang with new tech why cant it beat an old car ,the answer is simple because the old car is powerfull and undefeeted for decades yes 2002 trans am fucked mustangs from the first generation mustang untilllll 2009 thats not a decade thats 40 years its a beaaaaaaaaast!!!!!!!!!!!
