Hate to take the Ford side here because I own a Z06, but the new 5.0 Mustang can make 412WHP on stock heads/cam with a boss intake and longtubes w/ full exhaust and a tune.. The heads on the new 4v motor for the GT are insanely great.. Couple that with the new 6 speed and lighter weight the car will be formidable.. You can't hate on the sound either.
@bergaflickal Yes, the 5.0 Stang is capable of high 12s. It also depends on track prep, weather, altitude and driver. The LS1 F-bodies are also capable of doing high 12s stock, its very rare though. 13.0-13.3 in the 1/4 mile seem to be the most common for stock LS1s. Like my ls1 for instance, with its mods right now, its a 12 second car. With crappy street tires and me being pretty new to the whole track scene, Im doing horrible being in the mid 13s lol. Same as when I only had the lid!! lol!
@taylorriggs33 my ws6 trans am stock ran an 8.6 with a miss (plug issue) and spinnin on street tires. i drove the 5.0 with the 3.73 gears and i was not impressed and thats why i bought a TA. plus my trans am looks better than any sports car made now that isnt an exotic. the california special is the only way to go if you do get one though...and the motor is built well (besides the block quality) and they did engineer it well. the main thing i noticed is that you can hear the motor

And yes for you gay oval boys I now that the supercharged slobra beat N/A ls1s, surprise there. They came out the year after the f-bodies went out of production. Its ok, its about time you guys get to win once.

Pretty amazing the way the LS1 stays with it since it is a 14 year old engine design. Looks like after all that hype the Mustang is really just a low 13s car with a few cars doing 12s. Pretty disappointing actually.

Not because they weren't good cars, but GM was more interested in selling Tahoes and Suburbans than selling Camaros and Firebirds...that is a fact. It is also a fact that the 4th generation F bodies were better than the Mustang...until 2003. The Terminator changed all that. I'm sure you don't agree, but the Camaro AND Mustang are both great cars...I've owned both, and Camaro owners have my respect. DRIVE AMERICAN AND EAT RICE!!! Peace out
@97Camaroowner no dude that's why the slomaro was put on the shelf by a cobra and gm's pitiful excuse for a revamp and it the slower 2010 gt kept up with it and now the 5.0 is smashing it IN EVERY DAMN CATEGORY! the camaro was crap and will always be crap. the car went to irs for suspension (copying ford) and the 5.0 is live axle and its kicking the camaros ass hands down

And look at the facts if a camaro is higer tuned, of course it will out run a mustang and vise versa. But stock for stock the camaro is slower than the 5.0. The camaro is too heavy horsepower to weight ratio is horrible and it has IRS suspension and it still has bad handling check the numbers they don't lie.
