    Great video Brian! Adding in the C2C video to show the action on the stick gives a great perspective that you never see on other rod reviews. You absolutely nailed it bro! The SD is definitely one of my favorite rods. It’s an amazing skipping rod, and an amazing chatter stick too!

    I totally understand what you mean about the hooksets. It took me a long time to get a good hookup ratio with my Tachyon Shaft and I went through the same recalibration. Now when I get bit on it I crackem instantly and it does that super well.

    This is a spot on review! The only thing I might have recommended is if you run the rod with 30lb braid it takes on a whole new life! I run one with 16lb flouro for swimjigs and chatterbaits in sparse cover but when you swap to the braid it is an unbelievable topwater and t-rig craw rod

    Fun frogging rod too. I saw you got those slither K’s and being on the smaller side, they are perfect for it. I have never fished an Xbites but of the 3 P5’s I’ve owned (SD, Madbull, and Windbuster) it’s easily the most sensitive of the 3. Totally made me understand why my dad still loves little 6’6” rods, the way it cracks hooksets is super fun

      I may be amongst the minority or maybe it's because i fish mostly on the CA Delta, but i much prefer shorter rods because we mostly fish shallow. Don't get me wrong i love my XX for punching and stuff but megabass makes quite a few underrated shorter rods.

    • @thanombodhiprasart8054
      @thanombodhiprasart8054 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P5's are what I run on the Delta. I love the shorter lengths. TS Poker for the punch (and bigger frogs). The Super Destroyer is probably my most used rod, because it runs so many baits well. Perfect for a kayak or bank, due to versatility and length.

Thank you for this review because I was heavily debating if I wanted to buy an x-bites but it sounds like I can put that money elsewhere in the collection.

    I have the Super Destroyer as well and I am not a big fan of it for jigs. The handle is too slick and taper is to slow to me for the quick hook sets you described. I have other rods that do a better job... Loomis 803C NRX and GLX, 844C GLX, 904 NRX+, and the 873CCR NRX. However, it is a great rod and fun to fish. If I am going to take one rod on a kayak that is capable of doing it all, it's the Super Destroyer. I can't describe it but somehow this rod, with its weird taper, bends perfectly at different weights and loads. Also, you are right about weightless Senkos. To me it works great for Texas rigged stuff with a bullet weight or even a Free Rig.

    • @PunchFishing
      @PunchFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once I figured out the "correct" way to set the hook on jigs, it kinda unlocked this rod for me. It's such a great skipper (I have a bass boat)!

    it has enough power to hook set walleye? Because, almost every fisherman in my country recomend to use ex. fast rods for walleye, because it have verry boneish mouth, and it need a lot of power to get the hook in. So i want to try this rod for that typo off fishing jig for zander (walleye)

    I am glad to hear that it bumped the X-Bites down. I have the Super Destroyer and the Madbull and wanted the x-bites next. Perhaps, it’ll be the Dark Sleeper instead. How does it compare with the Tachyon Shaft?

    • @PunchFishing
      @PunchFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't fished the Dark Sleeper personally and I don't plan on getting one, it felt really soft to me in the store and I already have a Daemos. I also haven't touched the Tachyon Shaft.

    • @naturecutsinc1108
      @naturecutsinc1108 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dark sleeper rod is so sick. If you are fishing any kind of swim jigs or dark sleepers it kills it. It’s amazing for that technique. I’m not sure how they did it but you seem to feel everything and not miss any fish at all. It seems like the flex is the perfect amount where the fish can inhale it and you can feel it and set the hook without delay and still catch them. Not the greatest for chatter baits though. The tachyon shaft is much stiffer and to me is way more sensitive than the super destroyer. If you like flipping and pitching real close tight docks and cover it is awesome. But if you are bombing jigs far it’s a bit short. But I prefer super fast rods for pitching with decent power to move fish out fast. One thing I noticed is almost all the P5 line has a spot for one specific technique that they are super good at. There are a few exceptions like the super destroyer which can do a ton of things really well.

    I’ve noticed that the heavy taper on this rod is unlike typical American rod tapers. I own a poison adrena 611 medium plus. The taper on this rod is very much a medium tip plus medium heavy backbone. How would you describe the taper on the SD? Medium heavy tip plus heavy backbone, or something different? Saving my dollars anyways, and any perspective appreciated.
