When I put on your videos in the background while I'm working, this one comes up and makes me want a second X-Bites. Clearly I both love AND hate myself.
I love my P5 X-Bites. It’s a great rod that I believe will be versatile. I think right now I have 3 Orochi and 7 or 8 destroyers from Bandersnatch to FMJ all great offerings. The only non megabass rods I own are 2 Evergreen Combat Jack Hammers and 2 Lews KVD composite for cranks and squarebills. I think your reviews are all spot on from what I have watched and used. I appreciate the content and the work you put in so we can make educated decisions on expensive (ish) toys.
How is the Bandersnatch? Versatile mix of bottom contact/moving bait or more geared to one than the other? Would you know if it is similar to the current p5 Blade offering?
I just received my Windbuster.I own the NRX+ 872 too,but i have to admit, that the bottom contact of both of the rods are identical. The Windbuster is the best allround rod of both, just my 2 cents.
@punchfishing I fished my new xbites this past weekend for the first time...easily the most accurate casting rod I have ever tossed, super easy to get the bait where you want & target cast
I just snapped the tip off my FMJ destroyer yesterday, man I was sick! I’ve been eyeing the new P5 rods for a while now, but was hesitant about buying because I really like the FMJ. Although the parabolic action that you describe about the P5 does sound really appealing. I’ve already started the warranty process for the FMJ, and I just pulled the trigger on the X Bites! Thanks for the discount code on this video, I got 50$ off my order to tackle trap. Thanks for the videos, I’m into the higher end equipment and like you’ve said in previous videos, information and or detailed and honest reviews are hard to come by. Hope tackle trap restocks mid August like advertised and I’ll get to try it out for my self soon!
I might do the same after they send me a new one. Then again I might keep it for heavier jigs. I snapped it yesterday using a 3/4 oz jig, I don’t know how i did it but somehow I smacked the tip of the rod with the jig casting. I still used it even after I broke it, that’s how much I like the rod, and still caught a couple nice smallmouth.

Absolutely love fishing my new Otomat for topwater, but the gold accents turn me off. Looking at the lineup for the P5’s I don’t see a direct replacement. Thoughts?
The P5 Madbull is the topwater stick in the lineup, but it's made for tossing bigger topwaters. I also love the Ottoman. The P5 line isn't a replacement for the current Destroyers, they are in addition. Megabass didn't recreate the actions in the P5s.

Hey there PF, quick question. Since I know you have had a ton of experience with MB rods, what are your thoughts on the Addermine? I recall you provided me some feedback on your view of this rod as a dropshot rod, but maybe I am losing my mind and that is not the case. I have an opportunity to pick up an Addermine to replace a Daiwa Steez with the AGS guides (7 ft ML version) and I wanted to know if you have any experience with either (Steez or Addermine)?? My disappointment in the Steez is that I read everywhere that the Steez AGS guides could handle connection knots, but the material from Daiwa direct says very clearly DO NOT use connection knots through the guides as it WILL damage the guides. So my excitement on the Steez AGS immediately DIED as soon as I read that warning from Daiwa attached to my new Steez rod. What sa you about the Addermine (and the Steez if you have tried one)??? Thank you!!
I've not owned or used an Addermine. You can definitely use connection knots with AGS guides. Everyone does. I know Daiwa says not to but people do anyways.
@@PunchFishing thank you PF! I appreciate the reply. When are you going to release the review of the Whipsnake? That will give me an "addermine" type comparison.
Looking to replace my Dobyns Xtasy and try something different, what would you recommend out of the new Megabass P5, Conquest, or Poison Adrena? Thanks!
Man that's a hard question. The Shimano Expride wins best 'bang for your buck" because it trounces rods in the 250-300 range and is almost as good as $400 rods. Under 200 I have to give the not to the Daiwa Tatulas, Dobyns Fury's and the Shimano Zodias. Can't go wrong with any of those.
Poison adrena with 15 percent discount will get you around 300 plus tax and is easily the best I’ve fished in that price range. In my uneducated opinion
@@PunchFishing up to 1/2 maybe 3/4? Most likely topping out at 1/2. I have a shallow grass lake and a lake that is not grassy and that I throw jigs 20’ on up to shallow

I don't think you could really say which one is more sensitive since there's not really a metric and it's rather subjective. They both are above average that's for sure.
Although 2 years old, this video answered all my questions. i will be ordering my new jig rod. looking also for the best swim jig rod. Xbites or Dark Sleeper? 1/4oz swim jigs potomac river. any thoughts appreciated.
@@PunchFishing Thanks for the reply! I left another comment on one of your videos earlier today and have since added the Addermine to my list of considerations. Trying to choose a good creek/river rod for spin jigs, light football jigs, jerk baits, and tubes. Can't decide between Addermine, NRX, GLX, Conquest, or Legend X.
The x-bite being softer and 1" shorter may be why it weighs less? The balance is likely superior to the NRX? Warranty of the NRX is life time vs 3 years? Quality of construction is Megabass. Nrx made in USA vs Japan but likely Communist China? Chose your poison. No pun intended. Great review as always but wish you would compare the balance points.
It doesn’t matter where it’s made. Look at G loomis and st.croix, made in the USA. The wrapping on the guides don’t compare to Shimano or Megabass rods made in China. It’s all on the company that’s paying China to do the work at the lowest cost. If they paid better they would get a better product.
I recently purchased an Xbites and it is very tip heavy. I tried a Daiwa Steez A TW, Steez CT SV TW 70, and a Zillion SV TW and nothing balances it out. Contacted customer support this evening and hoping they can send me some rod but balancing weights or fix it for me. I haven’t used the rod to fish yet as I just got it but it feels very sensitive messing around in the yard.
I'm surprised because I find the Xbites to be really well balanced with my Steez A. You must have some very very high standards. Megabass won'tbe sending you any balancing weights.
@@PunchFishing I typically don’t fish rods over 7ft so I’m thinking maybe I’m just not used to the way longer rods feel but it’s def too heavy compared to say a p5 one ten stick with a zillion sv tw. That’s perfectly balanced! Different topic but was hoping you could give some insight. I’m deciding on getting the windbuster or the Landsat at the moment and not sure which to go with. I fish small mouth from 1-4 lbs here in Maryland on the shallow upper Potomac river and I am a little concerned the Windbuster maybe to heavy. I love the Whipsnake, and older original Orochixx Stinger shot which are lighter in power than the WB.

there's a ton on youtube already. the best method is using a damp magic eraser to clean the cork, let it dry, then a light coating of U40.
I wish you would have done a direct comparison to the FMJ. Great review nonetheless.
I don't have one anymore! The FMJ is considerably stiffer than the Xbites.
What have you heard about the P5 Super Destroyer? Do you know if there is a review out there?
Son, that’s a whumpin’ stick!
Needs a zebco
PunchFishing HahahA
Have you had any issues with p5’s breaking? My brand new X-bites snapped on a hookset yesterday
I did break one but I high sticked a fish, so it was self inflicted.
Thanks for the response. Hopefully once I get my replacement that will be the last of issues I have.
I don't have one to compare the whipsnake too. I'm going to do a dropshot rod mega video I think.
@@PunchFishing that would be a great video.
Looking to replace my Dobyns Xtasy and try something different, what would you recommend out of the new Megabass P5, Conquest, or Poison Adrena? Thanks!
Ummm thats a hard question to answer without more information
So would you consider this over the nrx and conquest.
over a NRX? yes. Conquest? hrmmm that would be a tough one.
Is this similar to the Braillist?
I've not used the Brallist personally so I'm not sure.
Can you give best rod period your opinion In $150-300 range, and best rod high end whatever cost
I’d say go st.croix if you’re in the 150-300 range. Legend tournament or avid X
Poison adrena with 15 percent discount will get you around 300 plus tax and is easily the best I’ve fished in that price range. In my uneducated opinion
Do you have any thoughts on Xtacy vs X Bites? I'm trying to decide between the two for a jig rod. Thanks man!
what size jigs?
@@PunchFishing up to 1/2 maybe 3/4? Most likely topping out at 1/2.
I have a shallow grass lake and a lake that is not grassy and that I throw jigs 20’ on up to shallow
@@PunchFishing torn between x bites and Xtacy 724
What's a good place to sell rods?
Facebook marketplace & facebook groups seems to be the #1 place do sell fishing gear these days. Bass Boat Central has a good forum for selling used rods also.
I would bet that this bend is very similar to the fantasista premier 7’3 MH. Would love to see a comparison
I don't think I'll purchase any Abu Garcia products in the near future.
@@PunchFishing new to your channel, any specific reason for not buying Abu? I know it’s not apples to apples, but just curious. Thanks! Love your stuff
X-bites more sensitive than the nrx 873?
I don't think you could really say which one is more sensitive since there's not really a metric and it's rather subjective. They both are above average that's for sure.
I just wish MB has better warranty , 3 years warranty is too short for 500 bucks rod
Fair point!
“Did they CNC this” your hilarious man
Its metal! Which is awesome.
At this price point, are they still made in China like the USA Destroyer & Orochi are?
I believe they are all made in China.
@@PunchFishing Their rods are exceptional to say the least, and an absolute blast to fish with. Not trying to complain, just curious is all.
Do you have a review of the Poisson adrena?
No, I don't think I'll be getting one this season.
I have 3 adrenas. They are excellent rods. My favorite is the 7’2 Heavy. I can’t put it down.
Man, thats crazy light consider it still has a counter weight in the butt.
Right??
Also thanks for the info on the guides on the Adrena, I have 4 of them and had no idea.
Make more videos of u fishing
I hate editing! Lol
Nooooo ... you tube is flooded with those .. love the reviews only
@@deangruwell6555I should have some clips of the rods in action to go with my reviews. I gotta work on that. Maybe with the Tequila.
Although 2 years old, this video answered all my questions. i will be ordering my new jig rod.
looking also for the best swim jig rod. Xbites or Dark Sleeper? 1/4oz swim jigs potomac river. any thoughts appreciated.
Honestly, I would wait for the new p5 Daemos to come out. That might be a great swim jig rod.
Can you use it in Saltwater.
I don't see why not
Conquest or the X-bites?
for what?
Is there a P5 equivalent to the Addermine?
I don't think so.. wind buster is a little heavier and Landsat is a smidge lighter.
You're a ten brian! with this review
Aww
The x-bite being softer and 1" shorter may be why it weighs less? The balance is likely superior to the NRX? Warranty of the NRX is life time vs 3 years? Quality of construction is Megabass. Nrx made in USA vs Japan but likely Communist China? Chose your poison. No pun intended. Great review as always but wish you would compare the balance points.
Xbites has much better balance.
@@PunchFishing I'm sold. Physically lighter and balances better so it will feel significantly lighter. Thanks for answering this old Minnesota man.
This Rod, Vs the New Expride A ?
In terms of what?
@@PunchFishing Sensitivity
Nice, keep going.
Do a phenix rod review its a 180$ rod i hate these over price tree branch lol 😆
Send me one and if be happy to review it.
Would you choose the X-Bites over the new NRX+ 873CRR?
The NRX+'s 873's going to have a big more power and handle bigger jigs. I probably would take the 873 over xbites just based on the warranty.
My x bite broke on my first trip, 5lb just snapped it.
Nooo! Hopefully you got a receipt
Is it made in japan or china
It doesn’t matter where it’s made. Look at G loomis and st.croix, made in the USA. The wrapping on the guides don’t compare to Shimano or Megabass rods made in China. It’s all on the company that’s paying China to do the work at the lowest cost. If they paid better they would get a better product.
@@lusaeteurn6850 Too bad that communist China is fast becoming our enemy. They must be really whipping those child labor kids to do the great quality.
@@rapalaman6681 agreed, don't mind if were made in Japan as much but China won't buy any more made there.
