I have the NRX 853 and GLX 854 and frankly I like the GLXs better than the NRX. I’m sure if I had the 854 NRX I’d love it more but the NRX853 vs GLX854 I choose the GLX cuz the NRX is almost too sensitive lol

      Blade is designed as a spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. Its an awesome rod. The only "problem" with Blade is its so small and light, that it's really more of a shore fishing/kayak rod vs a big water rod.

    P5 is a bit out of my price range. What would you recommend in Orochi for me? I really only throw 5/16 to 7/16th finesse ball jigs, and drag 1/2 oz football jigs from time to time. Looking for sensitivity above everything. I don't mind a long rod like a Braillist, but if a Tour Versatile or Perfect Pitch has more sensitivity, I'm down.

    • @thehookuptackle_usa
      @thehookuptackle_usa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tour versatile is the most sensitive of the rods listed. Some people love the Brailist, it’s got the length and specs to throw a lot of different baits. But, it’s too soft for me, and I feel that it loses sensitivity because of it, so I’d stay with tour versatile 👍

The x-bites works for me in almost everything except it seems slightly too long. i have a GLX 844 mbr and X Bites. The 844 seems to bend deeper in the blank and is thicker blank clear up to the tip more like a mod fast rod. I think Xbites may be a little softer only first 2 guides but shuts off faster into power than 844mbr. It's a GLX not NRX but Xbites is way lighter, crisper and so much more refined feel than my GLX. To me 844 is more football jig dragging and woluldn't go beyond a 3/4 oz on it also. I probably going to trade my 844 and get rod for the 3/4 jig light punching gap.

    The video indicates the X-bites is basically a finesse jig rod. In my opinion, the NRX+ 873CRR would give you the same benefits you mention regarding the x-bites softer tip and allow you to throw heavier jigs. Talk about specialty rods and one trick ponies..... Wish I would have had a better understanding before I recently got one (had very little usage so far). Seems like your review and Brian's @ Punchfishing are describing 2 different rods. In this case, I think the oddity of having such a soft tip on this rod (yet listed as an extra fast action and heavy power) was just too much and misrepresentative of a heavy power rod, with the associated recommendations of weight range. I was actually hoping it might handle a 10" worm with a light 1/8-3/16 oz tungsten weight on a 5/0 hook, but from what you're saying sounds like a no go. I guess I can always set it up and try it, otherwise I can use my NRX+ 873CRR, which I like to keep setup as a lighter C-Rig.

      @TheChamplain Fisher yeah I run 30 pound maxcuatro to a 12 pound leader on all of them. Throwing 1/4-3/4 oz jigs. Only thing different are the reels. I'm running an antares on the 903c, 17 excense dc on the bottom contact, and steez limited on the Xbites.

    Gotta say, I'm a little disappointed in the Tachyon Shaft. It's not the homerun hitter Megabass claims it to be. The sensitivity is good but not as great as my NRX 873. I felt like megabass could have given it just a little more meat to the rod because it has a moderate action.
    Edit: 23:34 - was my exact reaction after catching a fish on this rod.

    Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

Super sensitive so you can feel every little touch on the fall, and I like that it has a little more backbone and a little quicker action than a MH-fast when I’m fishing cover, without being as stiff as a traditional Heavy rod, like Ben talked about in the video. With all due respect Ben, the problem with Megabass is the older models such as the X7 line is better and no Breakage issues like the P5 line up or any of the current Megabass offerings.
    The Steez compile X for comparison you dont hear much on breaking
    The ONLY people imho who say the nrx is the benchmark are those who don’t buy true JDM rods such as the Shimano poison glorious or poison ultima, evergreen, Daiwa racing design and other JDM rods that meet and or exceed the nrx offerings.

      Some people shouldn't use P5. We took way more broken rods in on X7 than we have on P5. I've only broken 1 in 2 years, and that was 100% my fault. So? To each their own.

    Using a micro jig caused me to lose the biggest bass I've ever hooked into- probably a double digit. I'm not saying all micro jigs are bad but- they're not all created equally either. You need to look at the bite- the position of the line tie versus the hook point. I'm not going to mention the brand name that I lost the bass on- but it's a very popular jdm brand that a lot of ppl use. It's not going to cause you to lose every bass- I'm not saying that but, the hook up ratio is not going to be as good as a normal jig- especially if the fish bites at your feet while on the bank. It makes setting the hook difficult- and using a jig with a smaller bite exacerbates this issue. Having the hook point elevated above the line tie pretty much resolves this issue- so that's something I've started looking for in micro jigs.
