Film discription: The Dark Knight of Gotham City confronts a dastardly duo: Two-Face and the Riddler. Formerly District Attorney Harvey Dent, Two-Face incorrectly believes Batman caused the courtroom accident which left him disfigured on one side; he has unleashed a reign of terror on the good people of Gotham. Edward Nygma, computer-genius and former employee of millionaire Bruce Wayne, is out to get the philanthropist; as The Riddler he perfects a device for draining information from all the brains in Gotham, including Bruce Wayne's knowledge of his other identity. I like how we all accept the fact that these kids got all the way out of town to Wayne Manor, yet Two Face and Riddler have to drive. These kids are clearly the psychopaths, Alfred should be more afraid of them.
Hey a rich billionaire in Gotham could have a guaranteed candy jackpot compared to a lot of the small pickings in Gotham. Cant say these kids arent persistent in sweet hunting!

The film skips over a part in the original script where in Thomas' journal, he writes that it was Bruce's idea to go see Zorro that night, something Bruce would never forgive himself for. It expands upon his guilt so well.
And then he goes into the cave to find he manifested that bit in the journal. Those deleted scenes are fantastic
Oh shit, I never heard that version of events. Yeah, Bruce was tormented by his parents' deaths enough as is, I can't imagine how much worse he'd feel if it was his idea to head out to the theater that fateful night.
WHAT?! THEY SHOULD HAVE KEPT THAT IN THE MOVIE!
Reminds me of Batman Begins, in which Bruce gets scared and that's why the Waynes leave early. They exit through the side so as to not cause a commotion, which leads them to the alley where the parents are gunned down.
Batman Forever is full of deleted scenes like these, they perfectly match the dark tone of previous two movies and would easily make it better. Little bits like these are the best.

Imagine if she came back in the Batman and Robin sequel and ultimately revealed herself as Harley Quinn under the alias of “Chase Meridian” who used Bruce to get information on him, since she knows he’s Batman and then she would turn out to be a villain alongside Mr. Freeze, Bane, & Poison Ivy. She reveals herself as a hidden antagonist who’s seeking revenge for Joker’s death after Batman killed him in the 1989 film. Similar to how
Talia Al Ghul did in Dark Knight Rises when she was using the Miranda Tate alias to avenge her father Ra’s Al Ghul’s death 😳😳That’d be a twist! I can totally see a younger Nicole Kidman in the 90’s playing a psychotic Harley Quinn character!!

@@Sugarshane88According to an interview Carrey gave, Jones at the time thought that Carrey's antics were making a mockery of acting due to his earliest breakout hits being slapstick comedies. The dislike was one-sided according to him, but they haven't worked on any projects together since.
this movie would have been prefect if they'd told Tommy to play Two-Face calm and collected with occasional outbursts of rage, and let Jim be the zaney flamboyant one as the Riddler. their chemistry would have worked a lot better with that dynamic
Two-Face as a straight man vs Riddler Ventura hamming it up to create the perfect duo.
Instead we got Jones going Joker 2.0 and trying to outham Carrey. Nah, it doesn't work like that, good luck outhamming Carrey (though he got pretty close).
I believe that's how it was supposed to go but TLJ kept trying to match Carrey for some reason. Maybe he was worried his character would be overshadowed.
@@JDoe-gf5oz It looked like TLJ was incredibly petty. Saying he doesn't accept Carrey's "buffoonery" and trying to ham it up to show that every idiot can do it, so Carrey is nothing special. At least that's my personal feeling, I wasn't there so purely my speculation.
The thing is 2Face is a fallen man who lost all control of his life and lets luck if the flip determine his actions
Its pretty well recorded that TLJ hated Carrey. He felt he was being upstaged and in a pretty bad blunder he read into his character in the wrong way and took it as an opportunity to try to outdo Carrey. Teo-face should be an unpredictable mafia member. Serious in all he does. Two face should be a perfect character for an actor trying to show off - sane and sorrowful one moment, and angry and violent the next. But TLJ let jealousy get the better of him and didn't play the part he was hired to.
At the end of the day it's the director's fault. He let TLJ start chewing the scenery, which is what Carrey was hired for. TLJ should've been taken aside by a good director and had the character and his motivation really driven home.
I appreciate this scene now as an adult. Very dark and true to Batman.
Why did everyone shit on Schumacher for Forever. The man understood who Batman was.

In this movie Bruce actually let the woman he liked help him face his past trauma and at the same time she found out he was Batman.
It's kind of shame that Wayne reverted back to a playboy in the next movie.

i always found this scene to be underrated. yeah, bruce became batman because of his parents death, but kinda like Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, we see a more serious kind of PTSD from both of them

while I see how that track follows, I kind of like what they're doing here. Chase has admitted she's really nervous so she may be having a bit of trouble really processing the information being received and, from a clinical perspective, a patient is also having a breakthrough so she's trying to encourage him to not hold back anything

@@elykspuz6596 no in this timeline in the Schumacher universe it was still Joker that killed his parents. They’re the SAME EXACT universe, it’s just they made it more colorful and family friendly, instead of having a dark gothic atmosphere like it was in the previous two burton films. He even referenced Jack in this film in a conversation he has with Robin in this movie when Robin says “Your family wasn’t killed by a maniac”. Bruce responded with saying “yes they were” which confirmed joker is still the Wayne’s killer in this film too. Remember Joe Chill was just a bum with a gun, Jack as a younger Joker was a psychotic maniac who killed the Wayne’s in cold blood. Even at 0:49 the way the Wayne’s killer outline was set up, had the same build, height, and same gun that was used by Napier in the 1989 film flashback, so yes that was Jack being played by a different actor in the flashback here, not Joe Chill. You’re wrong.

this film may not be perfect, but it's punchlines and the nasty jokes and dialogues were definitely top notch! kudos to the writer and the cast for delivering it perfectly

Scenes like this are why it annoys me that Batman Forever and Batman and Robin get lumped together. This movie has campy moments and bad one liners, but it's mixed in with some dark and powerful scenes like this one. When Forever became a big success, WB thought the campy moments and colorful villains were what people wanted and so they made the whole movie like that. I don't think it's really fair to say that Forever and B&R are similar movies just bc they had the same director and production team.

I agree. Just recently rewatched Forever and tonally, Kilmer's Batman is very different from Clooney's. I mean, he's still playing Batman as a dark and brooding figure, not as the public celebrity who attends galas as a guest and flashes Bat credit cards.

They're very vague about what kind of security his home has. In a city riddled with crime you'd want more than Alfred to protect it. In this film the Batcave gets broken into twice! The batmobile also gets stolen. He needs to invest in better security....

The tone in this film is all over the place. Constantly switching between these dark psychological flashbacks with the colourful goofy antics of the villains just doesn't work.
Honestly if Tommy Lee Jones stuck to a more serious Two-Face and Jim Carrey stayed the same, they would have been a better pair

No. In the first film it was Alfred that let Vicki Vale into the bat cave. In the second film Selena Kyle figured it out when Bruce repeated the words that Catwoman said to Batman. Here Bruce is actually trying to tell her.

For my money, those are the best written lines for Batman out of those 4 original Batman films. Hell for the character in general.

Batman Forever is not the best but it's not that bad as Batman and Robin. Kilmer was okay as Batman he's the only one who's taking himself serious while Carrey, and Jones are to goofy and campy acting like the 60's Batman villain's.
I think Carrey was good. I think he hit the right middle note between campy and crazy. Jones on the other hand went off the deep end. I actually quite like Kilmer. He certainly has the right build and he looked really good in the Bat suit and also has the voice for it.
Kilmer is honestly one of the best people to play Batman

That was a sad chilling scene…When he saw Two-Face kills Robin’s parents, in his mind he went right back to his child self to remember that psychopath Joker shoot his parents dead…dick had that same traumatized look Bruce had when Napier shot his parents in cold blood in the first movie.
I was scared at first but only at first.
That rose falling on the floor triggered a traumatizing memory of Joker killing his parents from the first movie...poor Bruce...
