As many problems as this movie has in so many areas, Michael Keaton certainly was far from one of them. He carried this movie on his back
I thought it was a great film, aside from the annoying new Barry.
The main problem this movie has is the bad cgi. The plot, characters, and action are all pretty good. This movie isn’t terrible as a lot of others make it out to be.

@@CruelPizza213 I thought it was a lot of fun. Obviously the CG in some parts was simply terrible. My only other complaint is just the feeling of losing you know? Like Batman, 2 Flashes, and Supergirl go up against Zod and while I know the odds are slim they could win it felt unfinished or something because they simply lost no matter how many times Barry 2 tried to win.
@@vrASMR180 I think the final battle should've been in Metropolis, and Dark Flash needed to be present in the the battlefield. Those are my only problems tho.

It doesn't matter whether it's afleck,Patterson or one of my personal favs Christian bales..but Keaton's batman is on another level, people talk about prep time, batkeaton is a beast without any prep time or knowledge of his opponents weakness, this alone should show you that the OG BatKeaton is extremely tough mentally and physically
My uncle (who's in his mid 40's now) told me when he went to watch this movie in cinemas with his son, he felt like he was 10 years old again seeing Keaton in the batsuit. When he heard the Danny Elfman theme play, he told me he was in damn near tears as he thought he'd never hear that theme again with Keaton as Batman in a DC movie! That's the sort of connection Keaton's Batman had on 80/90s kids.
Keaton coming back to him is what Garfield and Toby meant to us when they made their comebacks in Now Way Home.
That’s amazing! I’m glad you’re uncle had a good time with the movie. There’s just something about things from the past that we enjoyed as kids and suddenly coming back years later, as if to say “hey guys, I’m back. Just like old times. Let’s have some fun” and sharing that nostalgia with the next generation.
Im 39 and grew up with Keaton as well and your uncle is right. The feelings of tears seeing him again and with the theme is spot on. Every aspect of his portrayal here is very spot on. Im glad kids of this generation got to see why we love him so much.

Seeing Michael Keaton one last time as Batman was by far one of the best things that happened in cinemas for a long time. Never thought I would see him as Batman again and boy he was awesome. His posture, his fighting style, his unique way of playing Batman. Simply unique.
As someone who grew up with Michael Keaton as Batman I would love to thank him personally to come back to cinemas as Batman one last time.

I loved seeing Keaton back as batman again, he carried the whole movie for sure. I'm just bummed that since the movie performed poorly at the box office that they cancelled the batman beyond movie they were going to make with him

Yeah seeing Michael Keaton kick all sorts of ass as Batman in this movie made the admission worth it and kinda made up for the cringefest that is the non-Batman parts. Ezra Miller's Flash is at best a side character
Can we all appreciate that in Man of Steel the Kryptonians basically rolled the US Military but this version of Batman managed to take down two scout ships and bring one of them down one on one.
They were gunships, not scout ships. The scout ship is the big one that Clark found in Canada and was the Fortress of Solitude for a time till Zod stole it and then had crash in Metropolis

I grew up with Michael Keaton's Batman. As a kid, he WAS Batman to me. Seeing him again in The Flash do things he couldn't do 30 years ago and fighting kryptonians without protective armor or kryptonite and still managing to defeat some was something I never thought I would see. Andy Muschietti reminded me why Michael Keaton is still a legend as Batman.
Seeing him stay on his feet until the Kryptonian went down…oof. I get chills every time.

One thing I liked about this movie (despite finding it not very good overall), is the fact that they nailed the fact that batman is a human beng fighting superhumans. He is insanely skilled and very smart, but he is still fighting creatures that one shot him.

They knocked him for being “too old” to play Batman back in ‘89 yet here we are.
His age wasn't an issue in '89. His size/frame, his receding hairline, and the fact that back then, he was known as a comedic actor not a dramatic actor were the things fans at that time were concerned about.

You can tell they had a blast showing us Batman with not only an already developed character, but an actor who completely understood his Batman. Bale played him 100% serious and grounded, but Keaton had a certain humor and timing that goes well with an over-the-top superhero movie.
The Keaton Batman was exactly the kind of light hearted character the overly serious, self righteous, snyderverse needed.
Bale was ridiculous with all the yelling and stiff, predictable, horrible fighting.

Michael Keaton’s return as Batman was the one and only reason why I saw this movie in theatres. He was the best thing about this movie. The way he portrays Batman in here is like he never left. ❤🦇
A lot of people said Keaton’s Batman was the only reason they watched the movie. So imagine how much worse it would’ve done in box office if Keaton wasn’t in the movie.

However, this specific version of Keaton's Batman we see in The Flash is exactly the type I want to see when it comes to a version of Batman that's part of the Justice League.

When you hear Danny Elfman theme 00:58 - 01:14 , fans must be yelling in their homes or theather.
Well he was supposed to be in the cancelled Batgirl as her older mentor, and at the time, he was going to replace Ben Affleck and Keaton's Batman would become a Nick Fury type character. Of course after Batgirl was cancelled, many films flopping in DC, and plans to reboot everything for DCU, they changed the original ending for Flash that was gonna set up the exact movie that got cancelled. So they basically had to reshoot the ending with Clooney so they don't give false hopes of setting up movies that clearly wasn't gonna happen.

I love that detail and wonder why no other director of any previous Batman film thought of this. Since John wick wears a bulletproof suit. No reason for Batman to not have a bulletproof cape.
They had no other choice but to amplify his capabilities matching the comic counterpart. A 70 year old man dressed up as a bat better pull some tricks otherwise he’s dead meat. His gliding and bulletproofing made him seem more enhanced.

All I thought whilst watching the Flash was “I wish this was a Michael Keaton Batman trilogy movie”. Epic - the director nailed his scenes. If wasn’t for these scenes, the flash is a bang average movie.
It's pretty much a Batman movie. It has a little arc for both Batmen and it has a sort of conclusion for the Batman in general.
It should have definitely be called "Batman Flashpoint". That way people would have showed up more to see it.

His death only makes sense if shrapnel from the explosives going into Namek went into him. If he died from being thrown it doesn't make sense. Had to be shrapnel from point blank range. As great as this scene was, the edit/cut was poorly done.

Funny thing is, the suit clearly allows him to turn his neck, but he's just so used to it like in the first 2 films where he couldn't, that he just moves like that from instinct. I kinda love that.

Honestly, I would have much preferred a stand alone Keaton Batman film. A film focused on him at this point in time would have been phenomenal. He was excellent in this and I found the other heros to be a complete distraction.

Say whatever you want to say about this movie , but this is probably the first time Batman is shown in his full glory on live action. Utilising every gadget in his disposal , fucking superhuman strength and agility , tossing people around while gliding with his cape. It was intentional... I watched a special feature talking about how they made the cowl So he could actually have movement in it and he told them...No...i can't do that and said that it has to be the "Bat turn or lean" as it was in the two original films... So they went back and made stiffer cowls

Dark Knight Returns adaptation would be great.
He was supposed to be the lead to the rest of the DCEU and replace Affleck's Batman. Although he and Affleck's would appear in Aquaman 2, and then the scrapped Batgirl had Keaton's Batman once again continue on. However, fans were actually furious about him replacing Affleck's Batman. But with James Gunn taking control and starting over, plans with Keaton taking over the DCEU wasn't ideal, as well as Michael Keaton stating he also doesn't want to continue more comic book movies which I can understand. And scenes with Keaton and Affleck's Batman in Aquaman 2 were cut all together, knowing they didn't want any false hope for fans considering the movie was supposed to come out before The Flash and obviously setting up future DCEU movies with Keaton's Batman.
Tim is busy with Wednesday Netflix recently. Don't think he ever think of Batman to this day and age. If we ask him about batman, he would be like 'Oh i did that 3 decades ago, it was cool' end of conversation lol.

it's actually insane that this 70 year old Batman actually scales off of the significantly younger Batfleck. In Keaton Batman's prime he would demolish Batfleck if he can do this shit at 70 years old
- Takes down an entire battalion of highly trained spec op soldiers guarding a base while baby sitting 2 Flashes
- Still strong enough to ragdoll full grown men in heavy gear across room and through windows
- While his suit is bullet proof, is able to handle the impact of the hundreds of bullets his suit tanked
- Took out several Kryptonian ships with ease, all while using a Jet that could easily be 30+ behind on tech
- Went one on one with a Kryptonian that was strong enough to contend with Cavill's Superman, had no prep time, and knocked him out

They updated how this version of Batman moves with a bit more agility, but they still kept his fighting and spin kicking style from the 89 film. Loved it.
Yeah...from what I recall the original Batman suit was very restrictive so it looks like they made a bit more flexible (but not too much so it closely resembles the '89 version).
He's far more agile than Bruce was in Batman Beyond.

Bruce was still quick in the pilot episode but not when they fast forwarded 20 years into Terry's timeline.
In the Beyond pilot. Batman is 65-70 years old. He should have stopped long before, but he couldn’t stop. He was very fit for his age, but he had a leg wound from Joker (from the Beyond movie’s flashback) that never healed completely. He also had a heart condition caused by using a mech suit that was way to taxing for him. When training Terry he’s 85-90 and the Joker wound got worse, hence the cane. Keaton-Batman should be at the same age when DCAU Batman retired.
Still the best Batman in my opinion! WB really need to give Keaton his third Batman film, Batman Beyond. It’s a missed opportunity if it doesn’t happen!

Tim Burton can still do Batman movies just do the in animated fashion, and he can either do them in good old fashioned hand drawn 2D animation or stop motion like Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

I literally cried when I saw Christopher Reeves' Superman cgi'd. I felt like that kid back in the 80s when I saw him in the role for the first time. I miss that idealistic girl so much, n the one true Superman for me. We miss u still, Christopher.
Christian Bale might have gotten the physical aspect of Batman in terms of combat and playboy aspect of Bruce Wayne but Michael Keaton got the personality and mannerisms of Batman. This is why Michael Keaton will always be my favorite Batman.

I love the contrast between Michael Keaton’s Batman and Ben Affleck’s.
Ben Affleck’s is more heavy duty and mechanical while Michael Keaton’s is fast and athletic. Both are great and loved the differences.

@@killmeee6768 Not really, Affleck is a very heavy oriented Batman, his movements are not very athletic they're more focused on weight and strenght, ofc he isn't slow per se but Keaton is far more athletic in this movie
2:35. I appreciate the subtle expression of enduring pain in Batman's face and body language while protecting Flash from the storm of bullets.
It reveals that, while the projectiles themselves are being stopped, their high kinetic energy still needs to being absorbed. The cape and armor will absorb some of it, but the remainder is being absorbed by Batman himself.

Michael Keaton's Batman is a huge part of my greatest childhood memory of my dad taking me to the theater to see Batman in 89 when I was 4 years old. I still remember the drive there at night with me being so overjoyed with being with my daddy and talking his head off lol. He took me twice with the first time watching it in it's entirety which was amazing and second time with the both of us falling asleep. I think of Batman, I think of Michael Keaton and those moments with my dad all rolled up in one. My favorite Batman will forever be Mr. Michael Keaton. I get choked up every single time I recall those moments ♥

Those fight scenes seem to have been the best Michael Keaton has performed in his Batman role. The intensity, the carnage and the skills were just top all round. I didn't expect him to pull such amazing fight scenes. Those fight scenes alone are way better than the entire Shazam 2. Respect 🐐🖤
It’s cause it’s not him. They got stunt doubles to do all the fight scenes and cgi’d the rest. But that aside, I 100% agree these fight scenes were absolutely amazing

But also to be fair let us recognize that even in Keaton’s ORIGINAL Batman films his martial arts and ballet stunt doubles were responsible for 95% of the amazing character movements we know today. Keaton built the character, but these guys gave him the physical movements

KEATON IS THE ONE REAL BATMAN
I love his mastery of his gadgets, unlike the batman we saw before in the big screen his gadget use during the fight was so fluid and immaculate that its almost an art when he uses his gadgets
To his credit, the last Batman we saw was a younger Batman in his 2nd year, still figuring out how to be Batman. Keaton’s Batman has decades of experience under his belt, naturally he’s gonna be more experienced with his gadgets.

even after like 30 years Keaton still hasn't lost his touch what a legend.
Honestly, probably one of the most accurate Batman fight scenes we've seen in live action to date. Before I would have said the Ben Affleck Batman fight scene in the warehouse was, but realistically Affleck kinda made Batman just a brawler. In Flash, Keaton's Batman exhibited all of Batman's fighting prowess and characteristics: actual martial arts with punches, kicks, and throws, tactical use of various gadgets including using them in unique ways like ricocheting a batarang off a pipe to hit the opponent he was grappling with, and using his glide capabilities with his cape to pick up an opponent and slam them into the ground. It was just the complete package that Batman fans have been DESPERATE for.

@@wingedhussar1453 I can forgive that part a bit since live-action really has zero hope of properly exhibiting the combat prowess/acrobatic skills Batman possesses in the comics. I think it was more to showcase how armored his suit is that would allow him to engage emenies with automatic rifles like that. Given the physical limitations of the Hollywood costume department and... well... physics... Batman's suit wouldn't actually allow him to perform complex aerial combat maneuvers like we see him do in the comics and video games, so I can kind of understand the decision to go in the direction they did with it.

I was born in 1982. Michael Keaton will forever be Batman in my eyes. His face was on every Batman toy and video game. My fellow 80s babies know what I’m talking about. I would binge watch the original 2 films over and over with my dad and play with my Batman toys and man made grapple hooks I made with sticks and a rope (darn thing never held up )
Man those were good times. So many memories and chills watching him return with HIS cowl. Hearing all the classic one liners again was so cool. And to see the original batwing jet with the original theme playing in the background was madness. Epic is all I can say. I’m a older man and a father myself now but you brought me back to my childhood when I was a little boy in my batman pajamas with the cape and I really appreciate that. You carried this movie on your back. I’d love to see more Keaton films as the aging Gotham knight era Batman. It’s so much they can do with Michael. He saved this film. Thank you for giving us one last ride Michael.

The scene when he free falls and the iconic 1989 Batman theme song comes on gave me chills. Bringing back nostalgia of watching Batman as a 7 year old kid.
I swear Michael Keaton just embodies being back in the Batman role. Despite how he looks a little silly in the cowl at his age, there was a sense of honor he gives off as he stands and walks while wearing the Batsuit; I felt like I wanted to salute him like an old veteran back in uniform half the time.
Also, it's awesome seeing '89 Batman fight BvS Warehouse style. Even if the CGI isn't entirely perfect such as when he flips or glides, I thought his fight scene showed the full potential of the Michael Keaton's Batman fighting compared to how awkward and stiff he moved at times in the Tim Burton movies.
Even as Bruce Wayne, you really feel the duality he has with both being tired from the old hero act after many years but also getting a thrill out of being back in the game.
Overrall, I enjoyed The Flash (2023). Despite the clunky effects and mess of a screenplay, I enjoyed this movie for its creative moments with time travel, the fun action, the great performances and the genuinely emotional moments.
Keaton carried this film pls give him one last movie bro would be awesome

The way he fight is mad brutal compared to Affleck’s batman and Bale’s batman. Look at that smoothness and decisiveness in each strike. Damn, gotta say OG got games.
I mean Affleck is absolutely more brutal, he pinned a guy to a wall with a knife before shoving his arm into him with one punch. He also bashed another guys head in with a heavy wooden crate and the guy leaves a blood smear from his head down the wall.

Yes I like this fighting scene better. Nolan has this realism Batman, so Bale did a real world fighter (which isn't necessary a bad thing to do) but for cinematic purpose I like a little bit acrobatic fighting movement like this one. And we can see good use of the cape and gadget during the fight

Dude so true! I am so tired of the "realistic" Batman. Although Nolan did a great job giving it a spin its time for an actual comic representation. Batman is a Man amongst Gods and he should be able to showcase why he stands head and shoulders and even above at times the stronger and gifted members of the League.

Nolan did his own thing which was good because it gave a breath of fresh air to the franchise after the tragedy of Batman and Robin. But now we need more of this type of Batman and as you can see, he is STILL HUMAN he still died but not without a fight, and actually knocked out a Kryptonian. That's all I actually want.
Now I see why James Gunn appointed Andy Muschietti as director of "Batman The Brave and The Bold" because he understands the character and this is the essence in Keaton has the ESSENCE (all the vehicles, the soundtrack, the phrases, the gadgets, the costumes, the fighting mode and the references to what happened in 1989 and 1992) besides that he did it with Ben Affleck it was incredible 💙✌🏻

The combat of Keaton's batman was absolutely breathtaking. His usage of gadgets to the martial arts was absolutely golden.
I love the fact that they gave him choreography that more closely resembles how Batman actually fights. Hell they even added the grappler move from the Arkham games at 2:09. The best part is that unlike Both Affleck and Pattinsons Batman who always seem to fight angry. Keatons Batman remains cold and calculating.
The difference between an older experienced Batman and a young one full of anger and a need for revenge.
I loved Batman in this film, but Battinson is still my favorite live action Batman, especially that fight in the skylights of the arena.

The whole fight was Arkham-style. The way he flowed between moves was perfectly in-keeping with the game.

The batman that got me into super hero movies and comic books. My mom took me to see batman 89 in theaters and it absolutely blew me away. So seeing Michael Keaton back in the suit made me so happy. And when that music hit, so many great memories came back of that night at the theater in 89.
This is all making me realize how much I love Michael Keaton … and how much I need him as Batman

I cried a couple of times, tears of joy, watching this movie in theaters. Seeing keatons batman do those things. Seeing Keaton dawn the cowl again. It was like all my favorite memories came rushing back to me in the theater. When I saw people hating on this movie, I was so sad. But as long as I enjoyed it, I'm glad I spent the money. Gotta have this movie when it releases in August.
