Franz Tunder - PRELUDE in G MINOR

- Franz Tunder's powerful and "t(h)underous" Prelude in G minor played on my Hauptwerk Organ on "Noordbroek" sampled by Sonus Paradisi. But who was Franz Tunder?
Franz Tunder was a key composer in the North German organ school and became an important link to bridge the gap between the early baroque based on Venetian role models such as Frescobaldi and the later baroque culminating with J.S.Bach.
This prelude is one of not many works that has survived. It is classic example on lively and more free sections which can be heard in the beginning and then followed by a more strict fugue. This way of composing is very much comparable to Buxtehude or Bruhns.
Franz Tunder only got to be 53 years of age but together with Heinrich Scheidemann and Matthias Weckmann he formed the organ music greatly.
PS: I didn't get struck by any lighting during the making of the thumbnail :-D

love this Philip and your background information is very informative about this composer - he was eclipsed by Vivaldi and later JS Bach - glad you performed this. Your playing is so inspiring.
