That's a special dual - faction 2 player game, where the Imperium/Harkonnen take on the Atreides/Fremen. It's a bit more advanced. You can play this with any of the regular faction sheets for 2 player.
Does anyone know if the planet board is the same or close to the original, ie can you use your big playmat for the original game with this or it’s just too different?
@@themartianmantis2694 Point, but from the other hand: why play Dune to begin with? Players should now what they want before starting. And, if Dune is not what they are after, there are plenty of other simpler and shorter games
@@SinNomin Somebody could be a big fan of the new Film or a fan of the books in general but not have the time to commit to a more complicated version of the game, it's Dune Lite with the bonus of being themed around the new film which has a following of its own really. Both versions definitely have their own appeal and audience, I'd personally get both if i could

Oh god no. Another end by turn X :( Shame. I really hate when I say to myself: Finally next turn my schemes will pay off... well the game just ended. Everyone just goes to combat last turn and doesn't care if they could survive the next one.
I have the same issue with my Olympic entries. For some reason they make the race end when Usain Bolt crosses the line instead of waiting half an hour for me to cross the line in extravagant style.

Meh, sounds like a cashgrab. Cheap rip off of the original game which is much better and more complex. I was hoping for an original idea but this is just an overboiled down version.
The same designers as the original plus some new talent redesigned the game with 2 to 4 players and 1 hour playtime in mind. It's excellent. I can understand scepticism but don't judge it so harshly before even trying it.
I partially agree, although the shorter streamlined version is welcomed, only having 4 factions is not, they should have made the 6 factions available. If they make the Guild and Bene available in an expan$ion then it will a blatant cashgrab
@@icewendigo2320 did you know that the original dune was tested primarily as a 4 player game? This new version happens to be very faithful to the game. It's kindve like what the game could've been without the interference of the publisher Avalon Hill when they added the advanced rules. Plus, there are not enough guild or bene gesserit characters to make them factions. If an expansion comes, it will probably be based on part 2 of the movie.
@@Jaded_AF I own the avalon hill game, its great, Ive played it at 6 players many times and its excellent. I agree about not enough characters from the movie to make bene and guild (and emperor for that matter) images inspired by the movie. I also think that for the Emperor they should not have included the bene gessirit and the guild looking guy (orange gas helmet) to be more consistent in an eventual expasion. (it would have been great if they could have used the emperor symbol from the Dune:Imperium game)
@@icewendigo2320 An expansion is not eventual. The game has to sell and people calling it a cash grab doesn't help. This game is fantastic and does what it sets out to do better than dune 2019 does. That said, it's a very different game and will appeal to different people. Also I believe the symbol you mean isn't for the Imperium, rather specifically for the sardaukar. Though this is just what I've heard second hand.

I think it is almost identical; only the small rock territory next to Arrakeen is missing.
Some territories are missing and there are 1 or 2 extra spice blows.
House Atreides for me
So it's basically a shorter version of the original dune game from the70s with pics from the new movie.
And less factions, simpler rules etc. Not worth attention

You could play the version that goes for longer. You can even play with 6 players. Or you could just play how you want with house rules
