When I was watching this in 1999, of course, I was rooting for Philippines given that I'm a filipino. I didn't find Ms. Botswana beautiful but now that I'm more exposed to diversity, I think she's really gorgeous.

True. Nowadays we are really learning to embrace beauty of all types. Though for me Miriam was still gorgeous and her gown was still the most elegant.
