The job of Miss Universe is not to just be beautiful. Wendy is beautiful, articulate, and intelligent. The runner ups displayed only their beauty, making Wendy stand out. She really deserved the crown in 1998. That was 13yrs. ago, and Wendy Fitzwilliam is an unforgetable Miss Universe.

You can tell from the other delegates they were thrilled for Wendy as the winner. You can even see Miss USA looking at the judges and said "thank you" with her thumbs up on 2:17. Nothing can beat this craziness crowning moment. So epic! luv it!
giocurve I'm sure as much as Miss USA wanted to win Miss Universe, she was excited about the person who ended up winning because she will live with her for the rest of her reign. So she was basically saying thank you for picking a good roommate for me

I think that the essence here is camaraderie and this was actually captured here. Very happy that Miss T&T won because I remembered that I rooted for her at that point of time and when Miss T&T won, everyone gathered to congratulated her. That was the essence! Even Miss Venezuela kissed her at the cheeks in the end. So, everyone was happy and I love to see that! Friendship fostered and memories to last for a lifetime!
I remember rushing home to see her win. I swear you could hear the whole of Diamond Vale screaming, Saw some pictures and an article in sundays express is swear Wedndy is still as beautiful as she was the even more so now if that is possible

Bien por Trinidad y Tobago, si era la que merecia la Corona de Miss Universo 1998, ademas fue la que mejor respuesta, No hay que negar que Venezuela y Puerto Rico estaban realmente Hermosas.

Wendy is so damn beautiful. I'm a straight woman and still can't refrain from staring at her pictures......my God! The only other woman that did this to me was Claudia Cardinals. Both true beauties but Wendy tops them all.....beauty and brains. I hear she is an attorney now.
+Lizzie Beth I think so too. She has very exotic looks and unlike the latino winners (past, present), I think she is by far the best Miss Universe winner. She is just so damn gorgeous + natural. I find the latinos to be more plastic looking (and it is known that they inject themselves with whatever to ensure they achieve the perfect looks).
Sarka Prokopova Wow you taught me something new. I had no idea Latina contestants were doing that. I thought the competition was supposed to be based on natural beauty and talent. I guess people will do anything to win.
+Lizzie Beth It's a publicists fact that contestants from certain South American countries are pressurized to perfect their looks in order to achieve the best possible result - the title. I believe Venezuela, Colombia are part of those countries. I believe this has to do with the ongoing poverty there and with many attractive women there, the ones who want to really succed are pressured to go to extremes which means self-enhancing procedures to certain parts if their bodies. If you google this you will find many reports. I actually think it is an unfair advantage and possibly the main reason why they have so many winners. Along with politics of course.

And come to think of it, you're right, there are far more ladies crowned from Latin American countries than any other. I had never really given thought to it. Just simply thought they must be damn good. I definitely knew about Brazil and all of the crazy plastic surgeries going on there....right down to the formaldehyde used to straighten hair but never imagined other countries in South America. Gee....that kinda makes me feel so different about the contestants from there now.

When Miss Trinidad and Tobago won MU for the first time in 1977 the other delegates especially the black delegates reacted the same. And I'm sure when we win it next time out girl would get the same reaction.
