All I’ll say is , if you can get in these boxes at MSRP, they can make tons of money in the short term. Medium term, you’ll lose out since reprints for speciality sets are super large. Long term, you’ll make lots of money, even if you invest at $100. So I guess it depends what your exit strategy is for everyone

These PE etbs are gonna be in walmarts, targets, best buys for years. They will be so easy to acquire it won't even be funny. It doesn't hurt to live within 8 walmarts and 8 targets within a 20 mile radius, and just check in once a week or two when the distributors stop by to stock the shelves.
I got a sealed case of 4 PC ETB and 4 normal ETBs at retail. I will not buy anymore unless I find them at MSRP. There will always be more plays people 😂

It’s worse than we thought. This is a email I got about my booster bundle pre orders Hello Curtis, due to high demand in prismatic evolutions booster bundle, we’re subject to only a few cases of bundles. We preordered 500 bundles, i got allocated 37 bundles total. The entire west coast through our distribution only got allocated 150 cases, we were the 5th biggest account for the west coast and we only received 6 of those 150. Customers that preordered first will receive what we’re giving and everyone else will be getting a full refund. I am awfully sorry and trying to be as transparent as i can.

Rip and shippers will be relying on ETBs for the first month for packs until bundles come out. These etbs are still cheap at $100. Long term and short term. Short term especially. The demand for rip and ship isn’t going to be sustained with only etbs. Not even close.

While I think it would be stupid to buy currently for investment purposes (if you are a serious investor or collector you should be able to get in on the msrp stocks that have been going up), they will almost certainly go higher and at the very least not go down at all.

I'm planning on in store purchases especially (I know some store owners near me, they are severely limiting people in person, because they have seen the scalpers already for this), but also, Pokemon loves money, so they can easily plan multiple print runs and flood the market, especially in physical stores. Plus with the sets coming out this year alone, i think alot of these FOMO peeps will have a rough one trying to do this on multiple sets, but thats my two cents. Last thing I want, is this to continue, and half the community starts labeling Pokemon TCG as a "rich person hobby" cause that when you do lose peeps and interest, so I hope I am wrong there

I understand what your saying but the whole market isn't normal you know? As other people here are saying you exit strategy does matter but I personally think that buying over market only makes sense if you're buying the PC ETBs even if it's 2x msrp. I do agree, buying a non PC ETB for 100 is crazy risky. The reprint risk is massive.

The federal reserve keeps lowering interest rates, which is making money cheaper to borrow. When money becomes free or cheap to borrow, the price of equities and pokemon cards goes to the moon to compensate

The truth is no one knows the correct way to produce valuations for Pokemon cards. Most people don’t even know what valuation methods are out there. You all just depend on historical patterns. That’s called technical analysis and, in the long term, doesn’t work. You should consider every aspect of what give the product value (supply, demand, playability, rarity, the Pokemon company itself, etc) and do an actual analysis. If you haven’t done that, then we’re all just talking out of our @$$.

When the new stuff is overhyped I like to snag good deals on sealed XY and S&M blisters and sleeved packs.
Call off work now Jan 16 and 17. Be prepared to lineup at midnight release on Jan 16 or line-up before stores open Jan 17.
