  • In this episode, I'm exploring an abandoned convent which was constructed nearly 200 years ago. Major changes in the community caused an eventual decline in population, and the remaining sisters relocated in 2014- leaving the entire convent to decay for the last decade, where it still remains abandoned. Let's explore.

Did anyone else feel like they were being transported to a different era moving almost the buildings? What an explore- let me know if you want to see more abandoned convents/churches!

Absolutely...back to a time when creativity and hard work were put into what was built...not just cracker boxes made of drop ceilings and drywall.
I would definitely like to see more churches/convents/monasteries!

    Luke, this is INSANE! 😲
3:15 - A lot of times we see buildings add drop ceilings because it makes adding infrastructure like better wiring, plumbing, or sprinklers easier.
5:30 - The church part is HUGE!
10:28 - You know the place is old when you see cast iron pipes that have rusted into each other.
11:15 - Wouldn't it be weird if I was your father??? lol
16:02 - It keeps getting better! Wow!
17:23 - You can tell that this was a modern addition based on the steel studs in the walls. These didn't become widely used until the 1970's.
17:53 - Inspector test for the sprinkler system. The valve would be opened and the pressure would be recorded. This was likely added after the sprinkler system was installed as a retrofit to adapt to more stringent building codes.
18:10 - Whomever added this arrow sticker to the extinguisher cabinet was an idiot. This could have caused a fire inspection violation. Also painting the cabinet itself is a major violation. Just my two cents.
22:22 - It may have been a gym with a rubberized floor, which would significantly increase the flammability rating of the room and cause a LOT of black debris to become stuck to the masonry walls. Pure speculation on my part.
24:25 - Another relic of my childhood in the 80's. lol
Another awesome video. I know this place was a religious school, but it has that Kirkbride style of architecture.

I’m surprised it took me this long to finally check this place out- it’s only a few hours from where I live. I’m so glad you enjoyed it- totally different kind of explore than I’ve done. Quite literally the first religious explore, per say. I was disappointed to see how much drop celling was installed, I bet there was a lot more architecture that would have been cool to see. I also wish I went here like two years ago, the inside of the convent was in totally different shape, I was surprised based off how nice the exterior of the building was. Thanks for the comment as per usual, heading down to Maryland for a quick weekend trip as we speak. TH-cam isn’t ready for our video soon🔥

This was an awesome explore; this site has so many buildings with tons of character and the architecture is like nothing today even if it was hit by vandals. (I never understood it either) Seeing the old intercom systems in the walls as you explored reminds me of how tech really was back then. Your camera picked up the ceilings perfectly. Even though some of the windows were boarded up, you were still able to get some amazing shots, especially of the round stained glass window. I thought I saw an entity at 7:36 then at 8:28 too and even if it was just dust, it fit into the video well! I actually enjoyed seeing so many differences from building to building - an interesting mixture of old and new.
The video and editing was perfect as usual man, keep up the great work; I'm looking forward to the next one as always! Oh, and your drone shots are nothing short of BRILLIANCE! Always love seeing them.
Stay safe out there man and thanks for braving the brutal heat just to get us these videos!

Thanks for the comment as per usual Jeff, I’m glad you loved this place. Should I explore more religious abandoned places? I’ve gone in a few churches and such, this was the first the fit the criteria of a video for me. I’m glad you enjoyed the church so much- when I first saw how dark it was I was like shit, but it turned out better than I thought!! I also liked going from building to building, it felt like I was literally switching eras. Thanks for the kind words about the video, turnaround was quick for this one, I’m already onto the next. Somehow need to figure out how I’m gonna get a video out next week because I’m going on a 4/5 day exploring trip- but that’s an issue for later! Thanks for watching and again thanks for the comment, always makes my day seeing your comment and how much you love my videos Jeff. Have a great weekend man

More religious/church explores would be awesome! Then again, I love exploring anything that's abandoned but most of the time they offer something special from the architecture to the history.
I'm glad to hear that you want to keep that schedule going but don't worry about it if you can't get a video out every single week on the same day because your viewers understand that you have a life too man lol.
Hope you had a nice weekend!

Ohhhh yeah, totally worth the wait! You picked an awesome one...originally I had it confused with another location, but yeah, I remember the Proper People doing this one too.
Such a shame idiots have to randomly destroy and tag stuff...but even beyond that, there's still so much peely decay and gorgeous architecture to see. Great coverage and documentation of this one, thanks for sharing, have a great weekend and take care! 👍😁

Was wondering when I’d see your notification pop up! Thanks for the comment- tbh this was such a different explore but I loved going from building to building. That stained glass and theater- wow. Would totally go back, this wasn’t even the target location of the day. Sucks this place got tagged up, that’s why I could show as much as I did. Would suck if they tore this building down, it’s way too beautiful to leave it in this shape. Thanks for watching again and have a great weekend:)

@@TheLukeExplores Wouldn't have missed it; these more unique and bigger sites make you work for them, but usually it's a fair trade...especially when it's a random unplanned addition. That stained glass was nothing short of incredible, and I liked the paintings in the chapel depicting the stations of the cross. The auditoriums were cool, that second one was definitely wow!
I agree, it would suck if it got demo'd; surely it could be repurposed, it would be a crime to lose such a gorgeous piece of history.

    • @TheLukeExplores
      @TheLukeExplores  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@C4Explore it’s definitely a fair trade, I’m honestly surprised the glass wasn’t shattered everywhere. The second auditorium looked way newer than the first, minus a few tags. The stations of the cross were neat I’m just not sure why people pulled them down? Especially if they aren’t stealing or destroying them I wonder what the motive was?

You’re the best Tevin, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It’s a shame they want to repurpose it but to be honest the building is too beautiful NOT to. It’s a shame this place was name dropped years ago so I did my “best” to make people put the research in if that makes sense. I really felt a weird overall energy in here, I couldn’t find any stories about deaths or such but it almost feels like there’s some evil energy trapped in there- especially in the basement of the church. To be honest I would love to investigate this place. Glad you loved the cinematic too man, I really was taken away by this place. Can’t wait to share my next explore already- but first imma go back and watch this episode myself!
