Thank you guys for joining me along a journey inside an abandoned mansion with an insane past. A hauntingly beautiful estate. Let me know what room you thought was the creepiest ? And for those who wanted to see the video i recorded at this location many years ago, th-cam.com/video/TnXnfvgR-x0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UQq_LpQ43RqGFNjN Thanks for watching and supporting ! 😊
Never heard this story about Emily and her family, sad to hear about her passing. Kinda surprised they didn't have DVD's and was VHS mostly. The library & Emily's bedroom were the coolest from the abandon mansion. I'll check out the mansion from many years ago later.
Ok, I know this property personally! I rode through it as a kid and so did many horse owners in the area. This was not a dark house...it's original owners were author George Plympton's parents...Francis and Pauline. It was white with dark shutters and well kept. Mr. Plympton used to wave to us as he went down the long driveway in an old Rambler station wagon. He passed first. Mrs. Plympton donated the large meadow at the rear of the property to The Nature Conservancy upon her death, which promptly closed off access to horseback riders as they don't believe horses should ride on their properties...they're extremists. The house then remained on 7 acres. After the estate was settled these horrid people bought it and ran it to ruin. She a psychiatrist and he a dermatologist. They painted the awful colors around the house. On the day in question a friend and fellow horseperson who lives nearby was called by a local veterinarian the police had contacted to assist in examining and helping with the many necessary euthanasia needed on site. She told me how she cried the whole time...said it was the most horrific scene she'd ever experienced and it still haunts her. Late last fall the house finally went into a sales contract. As it can't be seen from the road I don't know whether they are gutting the interior or demolishing it for new. It was a lovely place until those sick monsters bought it. I can't believe he's still has his medical license!
Thank you for the history!!! Very interesting. So the dad and mother had to be mentally ill? Surely all of those animals weren’t in the house when Emily was growing up? Some of the furniture was lovely. It’s odd to me though that it appears Emily’s bed was positioned on the wrong side. The frame was high enough on the side she accessed to get in and out of to hit her back and rear end as she tried to slid over. The rail on the other side of the bed resting against the wall looks to be very low. Hmmm????? Most of those pictures of Emily were eerie to me. She had a strange look in her eyes..no laughter was coming through even though she was smiling in one. Absolutely tragic…I feel distraught 😔
My dads surgeon murdered his wife and retained his medical license. However, if you look at his trial info he had to sign a document agreeing never to practice medicine again to keep his license. I thought for sure murder would go against the whole “do no harm” thing and immediately be grounds for removal but apparently not
You would have thought two physicians would have had enough money for a housekeeper, a cook, a kennel for lots of dogs and several maids to keep everything in order.
My parents have bought two doctor’s homes. They were both filthy and I still don’t understand the mindset of it. I babysit for our neighbors who had small 4 children. He was a leading cardiologist. The first time babysitting was shocking at the filth. They were very good children, which helped me have some time to clean. I was even more disturbed that the children seldom got a bath. We never know how some live, until we become a part of it. They had the best cars, clothes, etc, which proves nothing, but maybe to some. Truly sad.
Same, I babysit when I was younger for a couple both worked in the medical business. Had a beautiful home next to ours it was big as well, I was so shocked the first time I went to watch their daughters at how tacky and dirty they kept their house. I'd run around and clean it after I'd put their girls down for bed time.
Right? It really seems like she had a good childhood except for the animal thing. I can't find any information about her. There weren't any charges pressed against a parents for any type of harm towards her. She had literally everything and went everywhere she could possibly dream of. She also had some sort of relationship with her parents when she died because they are the ones that chose to keep her information private. It's interesting.
@@lostineggsaisleyou're delusional if you see this and believe she had a good childhood. Yeah, her parents spoiled her with toys and every dog, cat, and other animal she ever asked for, but I wouldn't doubt it if they also neglected her needs for love and attention, just like they neglected those animals.
Thank you for being so respectful of Emily and her family’s belongings. So very very sad to hear Emily passed away. The video tapes of Poirot were circa 1990’s and British actor David Suchet was the lead actor.
I love that you are so respectful of the things left behind. Also how you talk about the little girl with so much care and seems love. Definitely going to look for the first video.
Michael and Marilyn Gladstein were arrested in September of 2010...that house was condemned just 1 week after their arrest so they were never allowed back inside which explains the advanced state of decay. The husband was a predominate and wealthy Dermatologist in Long Island NY. There were 115 dogs living in degusting conditions there. Marilyn ran a puppy mill out of that place. Michael Gladstein is still practicing in Brooklyn NY...
@@SmokeyMt.And from my understanding she was in and out of mental institutions. Who could she help in that cobdition. She needed to be under a psychiatrist not be one. The irony
I went back to watch your 1st explore before going further. It's amazing to see what nature (and vandals) has done over 6 years. Those pics brought the explore to another level of sadness. Thank you for returning and also giving us the update on Emily.
Thank you for exploring and NOT exploiting!!! I have urban explored before it even had a name. We took nothing but our memories! I’m so sick of seeing this YT clout chasers making videos and only for the clout! I’ve watched you guys for years. Also thanks for filling in what happened. I’m sure the daughter carried the guilt and shame of this horrible tragedy!
Exploiting like how? I havent seen any other urban explorers actually take anything but I have seen them touch a lot of things without wearing gloves and stuff...
Some people don’t get pets neutered and 4 animals become 24 become 46 and on it goes and for some out of control . I’ve just the one cat , she’s spayed and I can afford to really spoil her , but only one animal
It’s taken me a few days to process this but I wanted to share my perspective here to try and set the record straight. Emily was a personal friend. We’re the same age and it was from around ages 22-27. We met and started hanging out almost every day because the guys we were dating were best friends. Emily had an apartment in the city which basically had an open door policy for her friends. She hosted hundreds of game nights and birthday parties and anytime a friend needed a place to stay in the city Emily would offer her couch. Her friends were truly her family. Emily was extremely creative she used to have journals that she would pass around at parties that became like a living record or the artistic scene she helped create. For work she was a stage manager at a local play house. She lived to help other people make their dreams come true. I see all of her dolls and stuffed and I imagine her as a little girl putting on plays with her animals. The dresses in the closet are stage costumes, Emily grew up a theatre kid always putting on a show and performing for those around her. As bright of a flower that Emily was her short life was marred by something much darker. I didn’t know until later in our friendship when I went through my own hospitalization experience about Emily’s childhood which she almost never spoke about. Starting around age 7 Emily’s mom was in and out of mental health facilities. Little Emily must’ve witnessed countless episodes from her mother which her dad tried desperately to protect her from. The mini horse and other animals were definitely distraction presents as Dr. Gladstein doted relentlessly on his daughter. She never let it turn her into someone who wasn’t loving and grateful and generous to others. The bedrooms next to Emily’s were guest rooms for when her friends were over. She was an only child and her friends became her siblings. It was pretty well known that her parents hadn’t shared a bed in a number of years. Around age 11 Emily was living nearly full time with her Grandma somewhere else on LI. The apartment Emily lived in in her 20s is above Dr. Gladsteins practice so I’m assuming he lived above the office while his wife was in long term hospital. Yes he still practices because he has to make a living. He’s looking at moles all day he’s not a psychologist or a pediatrician. It must’ve been horrible for the people who lived in the area to see the property to fall into disarray and the animals suffering. I blame Dr. Gladstein for getting in over his head with the house, not hiring a care taker, putting his wife first, but it’s hard for me to think of him as a bad person knowing all he went through. No one had really lived at the house for years when it was raided. It’s wrong to characterize it as Emily was “left behind”. She was with her grandmother. While I do believe Dr. Gladstein should never be able to own a dog or a mini horse again I think this entire situation speaks to the horrible fate of people who suffer from mental health in this country. Emily always had a long haired cat around her who she took very good care of and adored. She was vegan and very strict about it. I saw it with the my own eyes. She and her family do not abuse animals. Mental health in this country is too expensive. Emily was the kind of person who had hundreds if not thousands of friends and it kills me that I’m the first one to try and defend her and her family in this very mischaracterized video. I’d love to encourage people to look at these situations with more nuance and sensitivity. I miss Emily so much. She was the kind of person who said “I love you, text me when you get home” to everyone she said good bye to. I love you Emily, text me when you get home.
Fine and dandy. From hearing you, we learned that Emily was a wonderful person with many wonderful friends so why didn't one of those many friends of Emily's not guide her in the right direction?? If one of those friends knew Emily immersed herself with her friends and her theatrical endeavors to the neglect of all else, why wasn't someone there to tell her to prioritize by dealing with the pets/animals issue instead of allowing it to get totally out of hand? For heaven's sake, those animals belonged outside, not inside the house. Where are the brains inside everybody's heads? Do not complain about her mother who had an excuse, but take a look at yourselves for allowing things to go this far, considering you are the sane ones. So, twenty years later: Oh, yeah. I guess the father needed a caretaker.
This is so tragic. This house looked like it was a dream home, and just laid to waste by these very sick people. RIP Emily. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain she endured.
A lot of explorers will not show family photos, but the pictures really give you a feel of the history and of the home and you can feel the good times and the sadness of their lives, best exploring video I have seen.
The music queuing in right as you began your approach toward the doll house made my eyes well up. I can feel the history of this house. It's very bittersweet. You can sense there were roots laid for joy to flourish...but clearly mental health issues choked the life out of this place & everything in it.
Took a break to look up the story of this house, very sad. It was a beautiful home once but the neglect and abuse of the animals inside made it terrible. Something terrible happened here, for whatever the reason it was not good. Just because Emily had a beautiful home and lots of toys does not mean she had a great childhood. Rest in peace, young lady. Thanks, Devin
I don't think it did. I think she had a good childhood. I think her parents were just a little eccentric when it came to the animals and their interior design skills. There were no charges pressed against them for harm to any of the children. The pictures don't really scream anything bad either.
@@lostineggsaisle I see you defending these people on alot of threads- and your arguments are INSANE . Any relation to these people? Or do you just have scrambled eggs for brains? Everything that happened was DOCUMENTED.
My friend grew up in a wealthy home. She had beautiful clothes and toys but had to stay spotless and the dolls had to stay on the display shelf. Some people should never be parents.
Wow, nature is tearing it down. Thanks for updating the story. I looked in a bit further and you know how internet research goes. The details of Emily's death have been kept quiet but apparently it is related to a car accident. She was living in Florida. She passed in June of 2022 at the age of 28 but she did have 2 other siblings that may have came after the animal cruelty charges against her parents. Everything was left because as soon as HAZMAT took control of the scene, they declared the mansion "condemned" and no one was allowed to enter it, not even the owners the retrieve any belongings. It was seized by the police department but later they (state) tried to sell it for 1.5 mil (SMH). I tried to find how long the parents were incarcerated but in appears that other than the initial jail time when officers found the home with the animals, they were arraigned and ordered to pay 142,000.00. There's no mention of a sentence for either parent and the father is still practicing dermatology now in the state but away from the area. I loved Emily's "rooms". When my daughter was an only child, the entire end of our house consisted of her "rooms" - bedroom, bathroom and playroom. She was an only child for 7 years and spoiled like Emily. Emily was precious. No matter how she passed, may God bless her with eternal rest. Her world was turned upside down and some children don't do well under those circumstances. I love the floral wallpaper! Ha! Great video. Take care, stay safe & God bless! xoxxo Kat Oh and there was 1 cat in the mix - I bet it stayed on the ceiling. Talk about walking on eggshells!!
Thank you for your research. When the explorerr was walking through the house and explaining certain family situations, I wanted to know how Emily died and what happened to the parents....I feel bad for the animals, they were probably trying to replicate Dr. DooLittle and all the animals in the story...Requiescat In Pace Emily...+++
@@Faith_Chi Ikr, but doesn't Halloween to be an excuse to turn any tragedy into a costume? Think about it... pretty disgusting too. The mising being printed on the milk cartons started in the 80's after John Walsh's little boy went missing, but before he was found murdered.
@@GingerNinja1 Yeah as soon as I saw that costume I thought- "Wow, that is in really bad taste!" And I wondered if any Gen Zs watching this would even understand it.
These types of videos makes me sad. Not just because of the backstory with Emily and the animals (RIP) but because a house like that would be a historic landmark now, and probably worth millions, in good condition.
While the history of the house is sad, you did an excellent job! Always love your attention to detail! Your style makes you feel like you are right there in the house along with you. Thanks for another great adventure!
Such a disturbing story of madness and animal cruelty at the hands of twisted parents.... 18:22 Look at the irony of these cute stuffed animals for the daughter it makes me want to vomit incomplete sadness, i pray for every animal to Rest In Peace.
How are yall looking up the history of the family and the home? I feel like I missed the whole story somehow. The only info I seem to get is a little from the comments. Am I missing something? Dying to know the story for myself!
@@ToshaRaeNailedYou can't find any information about her childhood. As far as I can tell there was no harm done to her. Not physically. They seem to be good parents other than the animal thing.
@@jessicaowen6871I don't think twisted is the right word. I think they wanted to give Emily everything she wanted and most of those animals are probably things she asked for. I don't think she was harmed physically And I don't think there is any intentional emotional harm either. She seems to have had a relationship with her parents throughout her life. They are the ones that decided to keep her information and everything private. It's definitely weird, but I don't think anything bad happened there other than the animal thing.
Thank you for taking us with you! Upsets me that Doctors( no matter what type) their job is to help others be healthy but obviously didn't care about animals.
I can't BELIEVE how fast this place has deteriorated since the last time I saw it! It's sad. A home full of what was once alive with family's lives now slowly decaying as the memories slowly fade with it. That's why I'm so thankful for the time and work of people like you who document places throughout the years, preserving the past and what's left of it. For that reason I do kinda fear the loss of platforms such as yt that hold such documentation. Hopefully people keep copies stored elsewhere as well for future generations to be able to view, if possible. Who knows what the future holds for such things.
Defnetly one of the best urbex channels! most of them are so loud and anoying! but you are so down to earth and great filmer! Realy intressting! love that Vicktorian melankolic wibe of this mansion!cheers from Sweden
Emily Gladstein passed away due to a car accident. The young lady was 28. How very sad. And her father was a dermatologist. Not sure who it was in the comments that said the parents were psychiatrists, but not true. Emily passed in 2022 and was an animal rights activist.
The comment just above yours is from a neighbor, Cynthiaclark8050. In the comment it mentions the mother was a psychiatrist and the father was a dermatologist.
@@alisasewell I did read the comment in full. Did you?? The poster said that she knew the Property well and nowhere in her post did she say anything about personally knowing the Gladstein family. All one has to do is go online and do some investigating. All past and present psychiatrists will be listed and Marilyn Gladstein was never a psychiatrist.
The daughter, Emily, 28 years old pased in June 2022 due to injuries from a car accident in Keystone Hights, Florida. The particuculars of the accident have been kept non disclosed perfamily request. SHe grew up to become an animal advocate. WHta a sad early life she must have lived.
I just now came to this channel, and after watching your first explore of this that you did about 6 yrs ago, and now I've watched this one........I have a bit of a different take on the story here, just based on my gut feeling and what I sense from this home. And by seeing the photos, the decor....I just feel it somehow. And maybe because of some lives I have known in my own life through the years. I've had the unique experience of knowing and/or working for some very wealthy people throughout time. It seems like maybe this was a family with so much money, but there was some underlying sadness in them. They filled their lives with material things to fill the void, gave their daughter everything they wanted for her and spoiled her fully. I do believe they loved her very, very much. I don't sense they were evil. One of the parents suffered with depression I think. I don't believe they were animal abusers in the sense of typical abuse, and that they genuinely did love animals. They just had so much money and could have anything and everything they wanted, and some people accumulate animals. I cleaned for a millionaire lady for awhile, she was extravagant too and she would drink so much wine and go online and buy horses, rabbits, rare birds, miniature donkeys every time she was drunk, they'd be 'delivered' amd she' wouldn't remember buying them. They had the ranch for them but they didn't take care of them properly. She meant well, but it was too overwhelming for her and she could never seem to find hired help for all the animal care. Her husband was always consumed with her depression and never in the right state of mind to care for all the animals. I had to force him (I gave him a HUGE guilt trip) to relinquish the competition/prized bunnies one day when she was out of it. They were not in good condition (17 of them), and she also kept 5 dogs and 3 cats in the huge 900 sq ft basement and they pooped and peed down there and the ammonia smell was intense, but out of sight out of mind for the lady in charge. I reported it one day, I felt so bad for all the animals, and it was a huge ordeal and I got fired. She was also a hoarder of everything.....so much stuff in every single room, and their kids were very spoiled too. She drank because she was always depressed, money doesn't fix that. I sense that here (not the drinking part, just depressed with too much money). Also, rich people can be filthy too..........the lady I cleaned for was. Their money is the only thing that they had to uplift them for awhile. Their children were lonely and depressed too. In this story here, I feel like maybe as time went on and the depression got worse (it was the mother, I think), everything else was getting neglected, and after so long it really gets out of hand and then it's too far gone. They lived secluded, no one would know unless they had regular visitors but I don't think they did. I think she tried to buy happiness. Also, admitting defeat is really hard, and I'm wondering if maybe the death of her pets also added to her torment...the lady I knew with the prized bunnies had them living in cold crates in a cold barn, and when one or two would die every other week, she avoided the barn because she said she couldn't handle seeing them and just left them to rot, though she'd sob and cry and wail in distress about it. In this story, I think some form of mental illness/depression took control and she and her husband were dealing with that while the daughter was being given everything to compensate in other ways. It just feels like a sad life was in that home, but not because they were evil monsters. I don't sense they 'meant' to hurt their animals. In some of the pictures, the daughter looked happy when she was younger, and in pics where she was older she looked more sad. The moms eyes in one of them looked very sad. Anyway, just my opinion and observations. Also, it's always so weird to see so much stuff that was once someone's life end up as meaningless in the end. Old pictures and memories, toys, dishes, linens, decor, shoes and clothing, books, movies, lamps, pillows, jewelry..... things that were once treasured and loved, used, art hung on the walls, clocks......it is all left to decay in the end. Stuff really is just stuff in the end. p.s. 'Some people are so poor, all they have is money' - Bob Marley
"that they genuinely did love animals" sorry but .. no. animal lovers DO NOT allow situations where a vet will CRY when carrying out euthanasia on so many animals.. it's not justifiable.
Sad history to this property and to those poor dogs and horses at the time and hope the young girl is resting in peace this house should be torn down at some point.
I don't think this place was built in the 30's. I do believe it's from the late 1700's to mid 1800's. I'm researching it now. Often times, what it says in public record is when a house was renovated. I'm going to ask in a few genealogy groups to see if there's any historical information about it. You were almost in MY neck of the woods! About 45 min. away lol. BTW, the house was sold in 2022.
I could tell that someone has been at least maintaining a little of the grounds. The grass is cut and the brush around the house trimmed. Not all overgrown like most actually abandoned properties. I wonder what the plans are. 🤔
Old topographical maps from historicaerials show no buildings on the property until a 1947 update. The home was built in 1938 by Francis Plimpton on (former) H.L. Stimson Estate land. Look up the article Two Michiganders Discover Abandoned Mansion with a Hideous Past
I've never seen so much stuff in any other home. This gave me a very sick feeling.Don't understand what they were thinking. I can say this, it sure is a shame.
@@ChandaKhani He told the entire story in the beginning. Emily passed away in a car crash a few yrs ago. She became an animal rights activist & rightly so. She dealt with addiction & I read where one commenter said she passed from a related crash. Her father didn't even hold a funeral for her.
Wow!!! What I wouldn't give to walk through this house and just Observe and see what life was left behind. I absolutely LOVE this walkthrough. Great Job, dude.
Is this monster, Michael J. Gladstein a dermatologist practicing medicine in Astoria NY for 30 plus years? The reviews say he is arrogant and rude. What about Monster #2.Marilyn Gladstein. Whats she doing? Why do these sociopaths get away with impunity? They did not pay the original fines did they? and got arrested but did not serve the time in jail they deserved. The needless suffering they caused those poor animals, the people who had to go into up that horrific concentration camp. Those poor, choiceless, voiceless little creatures. It sickens me. It sickens all normal people. All I can do is pray that they repent for what they have done and may continue to do. Otherwise, I would want them to have the sane fate as their victims only for much longer a time.
As a society we put doctors on such a pedestal. Just cause they can make it thru med school and residency, doesn’t say a darn thing about their character.
i don't care what anyone says.. these people were PSYCHOPATHS .. absolutely sickening. i hope they get their karma served to the in this life. disgusted by the animal abuse..truly.. !!! monsters!!!! RIP Emily..thank you for helping animals.
That background music is creepy & eerie. That house must stink with all the animals occupying that house! Sad story always make you cry. Thank you for sharing your video. Memories are made of these.
Emily must have been my age… or veryyy close to it 😭 she died far too young 🥺 I wish someone would renovate that house, if it’s even possible, and breathe new life into it because as you said it is a BEAUTIFUL property! That’s the kind of home I would’ve loved to have as a child.. 🥺💗 Rest easy Emily. You won’t ever be forgotten.. xx 🕊️
I don't understand, how can the parents be so smart and let their lives and their children's lives be destroyed? All of those animals too. What the hell happened? I'm not the best housekeeper and my house might not be in the best shape, but my cats are fat & happy. They will never suffer any neglect. I just don't get it...
It's really hard to say.Alot of homes where designed in colonial style over the years.Mansions as well as cottages.I dont think you could save this place. The room with the piano was not those colors at the time the house was built.
I just read an article that said he is still practicing. They had other kids besides Emily. What makes this strange is that there's not a bunch of information on the Gladsteins or their children....
That was so sad when you went into the wee girls room all her toys just left and forgotten about,I must have been a beautiful house , I really enjoyed the video guy's stay safe 😊
I’m feeling very old with you describing things in the early 2000’s and 90’s ‘old’. It still feels like yesterday to me. Definitely an exaggerated 90’s style with that wallpaper. My bedroom had wallpaper similar to that, but not as ‘loud’. Nothing like watching a TH-cam video of an ‘old’ house that looks like my teen/20 year old self’s home to make me feel very much my age of 50! 😢
@@sage6269 if there are vhs tapes in there it has to be late 80’s, some were from the 90’s. So I guess they may not have updated as fast as some. But u saw wallpaper like that in our neighborhood in the 90’s. The 2000’s were when they were finally giving up on the flowery overkill. This is an exaggeration of what I saw, but this was a richer home.
@@sage6269floral everything was popular in the 80s and 90s my childhood bed was like rod iron Victorian looking daybed with frilly Victorian floral bedding so it must have been a thing
@@Arginne wow. I grew up in the 80s/90s and my grandparents house was like that, but I remember my house and my friends houses had tons of pastels with like, a sleek black panther glass statue, giant vases with big feathery fake plants, tall vase pottery lamps, and huge decals of drawings of pop culture models. I thought only elderly people had frilly flowery Victorian stuff 😄
I don't know if it's just me but when I look at this place I have this strong feeling in my heart of huge sadness. Must be my intuition speaking, my intuition has always been strong. And I feel a lot of strong sadness here in this property
Hoarding is a sign of mental health. It is a shame that animals had to suffer in these conditions until often to late! I am not familiar with the facts regarding this case. A lovely find and revisit thankyou. If only everybody who entered an empty property, were as respectful.
I did some cybersleuthing on this family. Emily was born in 1993, so she would've been about 17 when her parents were arrested. So to me, her bedroom is creepy on a whole other level because it's totally NOT a teenaged girl's bedroom--it's that of a six-year-old girl! Hope Emily is finally at peace...
Either her parents wanted to keep it in that condition for the fairytale/dollhouse vibes or it was actually for younger neighborhood kids to sleep in and Emily moved to one of the other rooms. In fact most rooms in there look like they could have belonged to a little girl.
Thanks man for all the history And it was ashame that Emely's parents had the life they chose to live At least one thing good came out of it was her grandmother took her in and took good care of her And you coming back to pay respects shows a lot about you Rest in peace Emily 🎉 And may you be happy where you are And Rest in peace Fireman 🔥🔥🔥
Wow. What a precious place.,very sad. But thank you soooooooo much for telling the history of thr house. Anyone can go thru an old abandoned house and not tel the story of what made it a home. Shame it's been left uncared for.
Poor little girl. Children get their lives ruined because of the parents making a mess of their lives. I hope Emily was happy with her extended family after she was taken away. May Emily rest in peace ♥️
I did notice alot of the things in the little girls room is missing because it use to be absolutely full of dolls and toys. There use to be a doll bed full of dolls in front of the window and a doll stroller as well and I didn’t see it anywhere. When you first came into the house in the living room was an old baby bassinet that I would soooooo love to have😭 As a antique collector I’ve looked all over for a bassinet like that and it crushes my soul seeing all that stuff just decay and fade away.
Same here. At least someone pick up some of the stuff and didn't left them to be destroyed. I have zhe exactly same desk like the furniture in Emily room. Gosh, I wish to have the rest including the bed frame. In the 90's my daughter room looked similar, even the bathroom! My house was Victorian and despite what people are saying about the wallpapers, it was the style. Beautiful house and extremely sad story. 😢😢😢
I genuinely wonder what was going on in those people's heads.... Why all those animals? And why didn't they take care of them? They very clearly had the money to do so, given the house they lived in. I don't understand why anyone would keep a hundred animals and then just let them rot around the house. Genuinely deranged people... I feel really bad for Emily...
Hey, great video!! In England a Doll house 🏡 is a smaller house-child size. We call the larger ‘Doll House’ a Wendy house. Emily’s bedroom is totally charming. It’s incredible that all her her lovely clothes in the wardrobe look immaculate. I don’t understand the back story though… It doesn’t make sense. For a start why would the bank confiscate all of Emily’s toys and clothes? Why did the bank confiscate the house and then just leave it? Why would two successful doctors hoard loads of dogs? I felt the house was once very much loved as was Emily. I feel something very sad happened to the parents and to Emily….. So sad all of those, lovely toys and teddies just left. I think there’s more to this story….
I could be wrong, but I'm imagining parents that were constantly working and too busy to show their child the love and attention she needed, so instead, they bought her every toy and pet she could ever want. Those poor animals and poor Emily for having to live in those conditions. So sad 😢
I remember when you first explored this house. It breaks my heart to see what has become of it. So many things have been vandalized and many others have been stolen. Such a sad story!
Despite the decay of the house, the way these doctors decorated was a crime all its own. Red and green Christmas kitchen, intense red and blue bedroom… floral wall paper everywhere. Decorating was definitely not their area of expertise. Did they let their daughter pick the colors? Orange bathroom… red stair railing… cobalt blue and lime green walls? The heck?
The entire house reminded me of a real life doll house. Especially the wallpaper. (I did like Emily's room). Perhaps in person I would find it creepy. But overall I just found it bewildering, and somewhat sad. Thank you for showing us around.🙏
Poor Emily. She passed away horrifically, only her close friends know. She did have an addiction and her father didnt have a funeral for her. RIP Emily
I love this explore!! Some of the others who explored it a few years ago called it the Alice in wonderland house. I can’t believe everything is still there in 2024. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Great explore! You always do a fantastic job of telling the story behind it and are so respectful of the properties and contents of them! Love your channel!
What I don’t understand is why they were keeping that amount of animals in their place? were they living in the same place with all the animals and all the dead bodies, urine and feces? I think that in order for the animals to start eating each other and fight for survival they should’ve been alone for long time, doesn’t makes sense to me. Despite this fact, the video is incredible sad, that place has a lot of sadness and pain in it, you can even feel it from a video. Thank you for sharing the history of this place.
The house was raided in 2010, when Emily was about 16-17 years old. Seeing that she was entering young adulthood and those rooms still look equipped for a small child makes me wonder how much time she actually spent there towards the end.
I had the same thoughts. If she was 16/17, she wouldn’t have had all those little dresses…. Maybe she didn’t live there when the raid happened? I feel the need for more info on this.
@@MargoDiPatri read all I have written. She was about 11. Born in 1994 passed in 2022 in car wreck age 28. Hit by a truck In the rear. Go Fund me still up
Feels as tho a lot of misinformation going on here. Because I thought the same as well. 16 or so years old, then what the room was kept like a shrine and she moved away or... I'll have to just look it up.
I researched the article. It appears the parents were charged with animal cruelty. They abandoned the animals when they left the home. Maybe it was used as a seasonal home for them. 🤷♀️
I love and appreciate your videos. Mainly due to the fact that you have a great light on your camera. There’s many explorers that have well over 100k subs, yet they don’t invest in a good light. 👍 🥰
Assume the dogs bodies were taken away for evidence in any cruelty case prosecution. They have to prove it wasnt an illness even if they obviously look starved. As per Animal Cops Huston episodes I've seen .
It's so odd how a couple that put so much money and time into their home would just allow it to be destroyed by animals. You have to think that they were having some type of mental struggles and Emily was caught in the cross fire. Looking at the pictures, they were beautiful. I would love to find the whole story. Gonna go look now. You're awesome!!!
animal hoarding is a mental illness just like actual hoarding is. It's very sad. It must have been so traumatic living in that house for Emily and her siblings.
@@l.a.picasa I agree no wonder why Emily became an animal rights activist so sad that she had deal with all that trauma and her world was turned upside down.
@@Kristinapedia My neighbor is a hoarder. She & her husband owned many successful businesses in town along with some homes. From the outside they appeared normal. One day i had occasion to go into their home and...there are no words to describe the filth. Black mold, rotting floors, garbage everywhere. I couldnt get out of there fast enough. It truly is a very bad mental illness. No normal human being would spent a day in that house.
It's funny (not in a laughing way,) that couples will enable their loved ones behavior regardless of how extreme it is. Mom had a puppy mill. He probably worked all the time as he was a physician. After they went to prison Emily later became an animal rights activist & rightly so. She dealt with addiction issues & her father didn't even have a funeral for her when she passes away. Speaks volumes of the character of this so called "father."
There’s something agonising about seeing such a gorgeous house end up in this state of disrepair, so many of these abandoned house tours show the remnants of some of the most beautiful homes that people most certainly would still live in today if only they’d been maintained. There’s a stark contrast between seeing such a beautiful bedroom and ENDLESS amounts of toys and dresses (all things that would make for a magical childhood) yet also knowing what happened with all the animals and how traumatising that would’ve been for a young girl to experience. Also, depending on the timeline of events, the bank reclaiming the home could be a factor as to why Emily didn’t get to take all her things with her, laws may differ depending on the county but typically when banks reclaim homes that includes EVERYTHING inside of it too.
What a great film! The hills Have Eyes. Really a great piece of “evidence” to give you insight into the man of the house. Most of the doctors I have worked for are extremely knowledgeable but complete sociopaths. Not very emotional or kind. But high functioning and knowledgeable. What a sad place.

The pain and suffering of all those innocent animals must linger in the air.
Why did they have so many animals in their house? How did Emily die?
Thank you for sharing. What a sad ending for Emily. I wonder if she had ever revisited before her passing?!?
RIP Emily
The actor George Plimpton, right? So cool knowing he grew up there!
Just because people make money, doesn't mean they make good decisions lol
Hoarding is often a sign of mental illness. Shocking to see the state this mansion was left in.
@@clintcountryman4849in just a couple words you have managed to say the most!! Love this, it's right on.

Thank you for being so respectful of Emily and her family’s belongings. So very very sad to hear Emily passed away. The video tapes of Poirot were circa 1990’s and British actor David Suchet was the lead actor.

Michael and Marilyn Gladstein were arrested in September of 2010...that house was condemned just 1 week after their arrest so they were never allowed back inside which explains the advanced state of decay.
Thank you for letting me know another side to a truly sad story. Emily was your friend. In that way, she was very fortunate. 💫
Her family moved out and left more than a hundred animals to starve? And that isn't abuse?
@@TawnyC_sounds like abuse to me. If you can't afford to take care of animals don't have them. Or get them. Same thing with people who adopt kids.
How did Emily die? If she is alive now what would be her age?
Poor Emily. Rest peacefully. It's bad enough that she had to witness such animal abuse, but to have to leave all her things behind. How awful.
This is so tragic. This house looked like it was a dream home, and just laid to waste by these very sick people. RIP Emily. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain she endured.

Look up the article Two Michiganders Discover Abandoned Mansion with a Hideous Past
the original owners built it
use google, its there for a reason
The style is colonial revival which was popular from the 1930s to the 1950s, the style does take after colonial homes of the 1700s though.
Yeah this is very old colonial building.
I understand it was a crime scene, but after a while why couldn’t the grandparents allowed to go in there at least get her toys and clothes?
Because they’re rich and probably didn’t see the sentimental value
Maybe it was to traumatic for her idk as someone who still loves their stuffed animals I feel really bad for her
She was actually 16-17 when the house was raided in 2010. She probably didn’t want the toys.
Another commentor outlined the legal ramifications. The house was condemned by the state and no one was allowed back in to retrieve anything.
@@ASnowWhiteElephant why was her toy still there if she was 17?
I've never seen so much stuff in any other home. This gave me a very sick feeling.Don't understand what they were thinking. I can say this, it sure is a shame.
Especially since the father is still alive
Such a sad story. RIP Emily. You did some good in the world. It’s too bad she was never able to go get any of her old stuff
Emily is still alive. Who said she passed away?

Wow, it's a massive house ! What a shame for it to be left like this! And shame on the vandals !❤ 🙏
It's so heartbreaking that all those memories are rotting along with the buildings...
That would have been a gorgeous house in its days.
32:41 that is not undeveloped film, that is negatives they would make when they printed your pictures that you could go later and make more prints.
So much could be salvaged from Emily's room. That furniture is beautiful.
No thanks.
You’re a hoarder!
Such sad energy though.
@@sharonbowers9929No one was asking you to take it.
❤
That background music is creepy & eerie. That house must stink with all the animals occupying that house! Sad story always make you cry. Thank you for sharing your video. Memories are made of these.
Emily must have been my age… or veryyy close to it 😭 she died far too young 🥺
I wish someone would renovate that house, if it’s even possible, and breathe new life into it because as you said it is a BEAUTIFUL property!
That’s the kind of home I would’ve loved to have as a child.. 🥺💗
Rest easy Emily.
Your cats being overweight is not a flex lol, feline diabetes is very deadly. In fact, allowing them to be obese is pretty neglectful of their health.
@@annie_xo I was just joking. My cats aren't really fat, just healthy & happy. It is a challenge being as they are now indoor kitties.😸😸
Mental illness or personality disorder, perhaps triggered by relationship breakdown.
It's really hard to say.Alot of homes where designed in colonial style over the years.Mansions as well as cottages.I dont think you could save this place. The room with the piano was not those colors at the time the house was built.
Vicki Sawyer As A cat lover, I knew what you meant. Saying the kitties are fat and sassy is a joke, I guess only old folks like me get the joke.
Those poor, poor dogs! And the child, of course. I think the charge for animal abuse needs to have a MUCH harsher sentence where I live.
I just read an article that said he is still practicing. They had other kids besides Emily. What makes this strange is that there's not a bunch of information on the Gladsteins or their children....
I saw your first video on this house and it is even sadder, if possible. 😔
That was so sad when you went into the wee girls room all her toys just left and forgotten about,I must have been a beautiful house , I really enjoyed the video guy's stay safe 😊
I've seen this place several times from other explorers, but never this much detail. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
No pictures of any animals extremely strange!
Criminal leaving a piano to rot. So many who have musical talent to play one can't afford one.
Wait, Victorian style was popular in the 90's?and 2000's? I don't remember that
@@sage6269 if there are vhs tapes in there it has to be late 80’s, some were from the 90’s. So I guess they may not have updated as fast as some. But u saw wallpaper like that in our neighborhood in the 90’s. The 2000’s were when they were finally giving up on the flowery overkill. This is an exaggeration of what I saw, but this was a richer home.
@@LisasLifeThenandNow oh I see 😊
@@sage6269floral everything was popular in the 80s and 90s my childhood bed was like rod iron Victorian looking daybed with frilly Victorian floral bedding so it must have been a thing
Can you believe her dad is still a doctor in Astoria, NY.
Disturbing and worrisome after the state of their home!
This house made me cry years ago when I first saw the video 📹 😢🙏🏼
Thanks man for all the history And it was ashame that Emely's parents had the life they chose to live At least one thing good came out of it was her grandmother took her in and took good care of her And you coming back to pay respects shows a lot about you Rest in peace Emily 🎉 And may you be happy where you are And Rest in peace

I wonder if she ever visited one last time before she passed.
Wow, truly amazing and sad story. Thank you for this, very well done.
your first video on this mansion was my first introduction to your channel! really sad to know that she's passed now but hopefully she rests easy now
It’s lovely how you speak. It really adds to the experience of watching the video
Those were not all "guest rooms"as you trferred to them. Emily had siblings who slept in some of them. She was not an only child.
No she was an only child
That looks like a handmade quilt on Emily's bed. What a shame it was left behind.
It certainly looks like they built their world around their little girl...How very sad she had to leave all her treasures behind...😢
Dude, the colors in that house would turn any occupant psychotic.
lmao yeah it’s hideous
Totally agree!!
You sound like you have issues😅😅😅
The heck?
Love the aged ornate fencing out by the playhouse😍
The entire house reminded me of a real life doll house.
Especially the wallpaper. (I did like Emily's room).
Perhaps in person I would find it creepy.
But overall I just found it bewildering, and somewhat sad.
Thank you for showing us around.🙏

I love this explore!! Some of the others who explored it a few years ago called it the Alice in wonderland house. I can’t believe everything is still there in 2024. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Thank you !
That's funny. Just as I was thinking how much I love old floral wallpaper like that, he said how much he hated it and it creeped him out 🤣
What I don’t understand is why they were keeping that amount of animals in their place? were they living in the same place with all the animals and all the dead bodies, urine and feces? I think that in order for the animals to start eating each other and fight for survival they should’ve been alone for long time, doesn’t makes sense to me. Despite this fact, the video is incredible sad, that place has a lot of sadness and pain in it, you can even feel it from a video. Thank you for sharing the history of this place.
That's what I wondered too! Were they there living in the house with the animals?
Me too!
I am too, very confused about this story lol.
thats exactly what i was thinking!! i searched for it on the internet but found nothing

Feels as tho a lot of misinformation going on here. Because I thought the same as well. 16 or so years old, then what the room was kept like a shrine and she moved away or... I'll have to just look it up.
@@SmokeyMt. if she was born in 94 and the home was raided in 2010, she would have been 16, not 11.
💞 This is so incredibly sad! RIP Emily sweet, u deserved so much better. Prayers all around 🙏
I wonder why no animal bones or dog poop in the house? If it was that bad those items would still be there.....
Assume the dogs bodies were taken away for evidence in any cruelty case prosecution. They have to prove it wasnt an illness even if they obviously look starved. As per Animal Cops Huston episodes I've seen .
I was wondering the same thing.
I don't know how one could tell, so much of the floors are covered with debris.
No wonder Emily became an animal rights activist after that trauma.

I hope for justice not their personal salvation.
Who else has an ammonia detector in their house that is actively monotored by the fire department?
Thank you for the storyline behind the house before the explore, as always great video!
What a great film! The hills Have Eyes. Really a great piece of “evidence” to give you insight into the man of the house. Most of the doctors I have worked for are extremely knowledgeable but complete sociopaths. Not very emotional or kind. But high functioning and knowledgeable. What a sad place.
