If you're going to 'glue' it down E6000 or 'Goop' sealer works pretty good and is heat resistant. Either of those or the silicone adhesive are good choices. That weatherstrip adhesive will separate once it goes through some high heat cycles. If you use the silicone or Goop you can put some wedges or weight on the cover to keep it down until it dries. The BEST thing I've found is if you can fit it with NO adhesive if there's enough points on the original dash to hold it or anchor it in place. In my experience of using these, that blow molded ABS plastic will expand and contract quite a bit through the heat and cold and if it's 'glued' down tends to crack from the pressure of being 'pulled' by the expansion and contraction. I know this isn't practical in all cases but the least amount of adhesive is best. I have a mid '80's box GM car and didn't use ANY sealer and 10 years later it perfect. They will warp if you use too much sealer or in the wrong places. Mine is held perfectly by the contour of the dash and the defroster vents.
I have watched a couple of dash replacement installs, Wonder why none hasn’t tried to use a contact spray adhesive or even a paint on, Spray would be easy enough on the existing dash with a little prep work to minimize overspray on windshield and rest of the interior, But the new cover could be sprayed effortlessly with it outside the vehicle, When the 2 pieces meet it would have a more permanent bond, Verses the silicone or other adhesive that is just along the perimeter.... Just my opinion.
From Jeff: Hey Kimber thanks for the kind words. Sadly I doubt I will be able to go this year. Mom requires 24-7 care and I don't feel comfortable leaving her for an extended time just yet.

for AutoRestoMod "MUSCLE" Car Resto and Modifications....can you please do something other than FORD? I like the fairlane but goodness switch up brands please. You've only did one other car brand back when your hair was a lot more black and shorter......ITS BEEN TOO LONG SINCE.
What if people fast forwarded through the first few minutes of you talking? What if your boss said hey bub, we're gonna fast forward through the first six hours of YOUR pay check and only pay you for two hours? And trust me bub you have corny stuff you say all the time...if not...you are a right dull person.
@@AutoRestoMod well, i guess thats where editing would come in. “Bub” ive watched quite a few of this channels videos. Most of the time its just a quick corny joke, or something lame, but short enough to put up with. Or a quick ff hit twice to move onto the content. This one at over 6 minutes of fluff is just way to much. Sorry if your feeling got hurt Bub.

Glad to hear it! Hope it worked out great.
Can't wait to do mine this weekend! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom.
You are so welcome!
Love the Bible reference! I am watching all the Cornel Mustard vids! My 1974 F100 is coming along nicely!
Next week we'll be knocking out the lack of horn on the Colonel.
Love this channel, great sense of humor
I love the truck! I'm driving mine (Bessie) today. Keep up the good work! I'm sorry about your dad.
We miss him. That was a hard scene to shoot for both Bill and Jeff.

The adhesives won't stick. I've tried it.
Great seeing your post today, Jeff. We've all had you in our thoughts. I hope to see you and catch up at the Silver Springs show in January.

Great job guys alway look forward seeing you every week! Sorry your at about pops guy bless your family !
God
Dig the Bible references! I have a son named Elijah. This came out great!
Will this product work without the original dash pad in place?
Yes. But it can be problematic to keep it in place.
I have a 1968 ford galaxie 500 do they make them for that model and year as well?

What are you using for pre-cleaner? Thanks.
For cleaning purposes, whatever I have on hand. A good, wax and grease removing Cleaner will do well.
Manic mechanic? I missed something. Is this another one of your channels? Is there a link or is this something for the future?

If you are only interested in the Dash Cap you can start the video at 3:18
So I can use the Permatex high temp rtv clear?
My results are mixed on that . They include stuff but due to the cruddyness of most dashes, I have had mixed results.
Learned the hard way can't use these in Arizona ! First time I had my firebird out at a show it actually melted !
LOL Yeah, y'all have a different kinda hot there.
Hey jeff would this work if you have the original dash pad removed? This is what my old girl needs lol
No, sadly. You have to have the pad to have a place for the cover to sit.
Where did you get the dash. Thanks

Glue that come with the Dash covers do not work. Use a plastic epoxy.

Everyone else does chevy glad to see one doing ford
i wouldve broken away all the bad bits and used expanda foam and sanded that flat then glued the dash matt
Good idea! The panel is stiff enough to not need much support. But we like your plan.
Can you get one for 64 galaxy 500
Yes. Auto Krafters has them. We have one here, and are looking for a car to install it in.
Skip the first 7 minutes
And miss the dancing bear and hula girls?
the name baby huey comes to mind for some reason?
Okkkkk.
thanks for posting this. i will use the 3M yellow glue aka yellow death or gorilla snot insted of the stuff that came with my dash cap.
Well, we did it and it SEEMS to be holding well. But keep in mind that the stuff that comes with the cap is what we and the manufacturer recommends.
Cam looks smaller
Brian TX I noticed as well. Good job Cam!
He has lost like 60 pounds, we are proud of him too. He has been an amazing co-host and a great friend.
wheres vinney at ???????????????
Vinnie too a job that has him working hours that make it tough for him to be on the show. We do miss him for sure.
