I trained my cocker spaniel Cooper for 4 years. Since he was 8 weeks old and he is my service dog now and he has saved me many times. He never leaves my side and he even sleeps in bed with me and he sleeps with his head on my shoulder. I love cocker spaniels they are amazing dogs. He is a psychiatric service dog and he alerts me to fainting spells. I blacked out when I was in my room on my bed next thing I know my Cooper is laying on my chest kissing me. He is a blessing. We do everything together.

My cocker spaniel definitely suffers from separation anxiety! Cockers are also very stubborn too 😂 I love my little guy! I have a few videos of him on my channel! Come meet Pancake ❤

@@aleksandarkovacevic7311 I agree with the loudness 😄 he definitely follows his own rules but they are the most cuddle bears you can ask for. He loves it when I work from home. Always underneath my desk. And don’t get me started on the couch snuggles 🥰

No groomer used here.....I do my own trims every 3rd week. It is one of my bugaboos when I see a cocker whose coat is a mess or the toenails are really long. IMO, if you say you love your dog then honor that relationship by taking care of them!

Actually I know many people that groom their cockers by their own, and they look perfectly fine. Can you share your experience with shedding? Because I’ve heard different things.

@@hela607 my show bred English Cocker hardly sheds at all....but have been told that the ECS and ACS have different coats. My girls has a slightly wavy coat because she was spayed when she was 1.5 years old but it is not super dense....at least to my mind. I do not remove any undercoat during her grooms at all and it doesnt seem necessary. I probably keep her coat much shorter than most cockers....think "sport" coat. I go for a not-obviously-groomed look where the head body are shaved but blend into the body. It takes about 1-1.5 hours every 3 weeks to accomplish this. Now I am sure she must shed a little but I have had hunting dogs all my life and I can tell you that she absolutely sheds FAR LESS than any of the short-haired breeds. I do give her a dose of salmon oil each day and she eats mostly whole food which may impact her shedding and I was told by a couple of breeders that genetics also play a role.

My cocker spaniel is having bad allergies he scratched his neck until blood came out and he has an ear infection. Does anyone know if the vet can give him a shot or medication to help him. Also i cant find the ear cleaner i use to use on my Cooper. It was gold something. He never got ear infections with that. Simce i cant find it i e had to use other ear cleaner and its not keeping the ear infections away last time i took him to the vet the put some cream in his ears it killed the infection and i didnt have to clean his ears for a month. The vet told me its good for 30 days.

My cocker had very bad allergies/itchy skin, but since he is on Apoquel this has never been a problem anymore. As for the ear infection, they have cleared up with a diet high in vitamin A or a vitamin A supplement. Zou do have to have his ears checked at the vet regularly as the ear infections can become very painful and then it is difficult to clean them properly.

Agility is not good for cockers! Unless you have a working type of course, but the show type has delicate joins not made for such work! Think about nosework for example :)

    How about Their food?

My breeder uses Purina pro plan. Cooper does well on it. Whatever you do don't get cheap Purina or any cheap dog food. My cocker got so sick. They did pay the vet bill. I spend around 60 a month on his food but he is healthy.

I wouldnt recommend Purina I would suggest canagan it's a more healthy option

@@msfox103ableI wouldn't feed any Purina food. Pro Plan is rated at less than 50 out of 100 on AADF. Educate yourself on how to correctly feed a dog before recommending rubbish.

My childhood dog had separation anxiety, since my mom hated when she ripped up the house when we went to places that weren’t dog friendly. When we couldn’t get a dog sitter we made a room filled with scratch walls and mental stimulation games for when we were gone. My mother trained her to go to that room when she felt anxious. Life saver
