  • Hey guys, few weeks ago, I managed to visit Takapuna Sunday market just before going into lockdown. The last time I went there was probably 12-15 years ago so it was interesting to see how it's changed and try some street food. Also do you think it'll be a good idea to sell salted egg chips here 😂

In the early seventies the only choices to eat out in Takapuna were Tony's Steak restaurant and another Steak restaurant in Hurstmere Rd plus the Mon Desir Hotel .There was a fish and chip shop in Lake road that had a small dining room [ less than $4 for a meal ] .There was a Chinese take away in lake rd . Hotels closed at 10pm and everyone tried to get into the House Bar at the Mon Desir to drink after hours. .

Hey Kimberly! Well I guess both countries have their pros and cons.. but if you really enjoyed NZ I'm sure there will always be a way for you to make NZ home one day! In NZ many young couples struggle to pay rent and its almost impossible to buy a house in Auckland on an average income nowadays.. so I guess in that sense sg is much better with the bto system and all. Anyways thanks for watching and take care!!

Similar to what you can find in Australia too. By the way, what they are selling there are cheaper than what you can find in the stores in the city and etc??

Hey, there was a guy selling household detergent etc at cheaper price. A bit similar to those shops that are always on fire sale in sg that sell parallel imported stuff from Thailand etc. I think the fruits/vegetables are not that much cheaper than supermarkets but probably more fresh

When I was in NZ many years ago for 2 weeks, the ppl were generally quite polite. But I nearly got punched in the face at Queen St by (the usual ppl who tend to join gangs) in mid day with tons of ppl all around. Then I went to the KFC to get a meal and the same type of ppl actually ate my meal while I went to the toilet to wash my hands. I have never returned to NZ since. I prefer big cities.

Hey Alvin I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. That kind of incident helps you realise just how safe Singapore is and how easy it is for us to take it for granted. I've caught myself doing things like going for a walk at night, leaving my belongings on a table overseas then realising that I'm not in SG anymore. Don't mean to shine NZ in a bad light but I've had many similar experiences growing up in NZ in malls, school and definitely Queen Street. But really most people in NZ are very nice and kind and you just need to avoid certain places and certain times... I hope you'll still visit NZ one day again. BTW those people eating your chicken while you went toilet is crazy man. Never heard that happen to anyone 😭

    Here's an idea.
How about you make videos about places that you think Singaporeans would love to visit and eat? Knowing SG taste buds and stingy with our money, you could recommend places. :) You can tag these videos, so it's easy for Singaporeans (actually all of your subscribers as well) can filter and follow up.

Hey, that is a great idea and something I would love to do! Even though I grew up here, I want to 'rediscover' NZ with sporean's perspective and share that with you guys. It can be just nice when the bubble opens up, you guys can watch and come to NZ hehe
