  • Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords of Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Aside from currently being in full-on KISS nostalgia mode, I've also had a ton of requests to feature some of Vinnie Vincent's music (somewhere around 50 requests), so this episode is long overdue and technically the third episode of Chordplay I've created in a row (don't worry, we'll return to "normal" soon enough), so if you're one of the many that has requested some of Vinnie Vincent's music, this episode is totally for you - let's dive in!
This lesson pulls some chord-based and rhythm guitar parts from songs featured on Vinnie Vincent Invasion's two releases, which are both considered essential glam metal classics. This includes sections from songs such as Burn, Ashes To Ashes, That Time Of Year, Boyz Are Gonna Rock, Love Kills, Back On The Streets, and more!
Needless to say, if you're a fan of Vinnie Vincent/Vinnie Vincent Invasion, a KISS fan, a fan of 1980s rock/metal guitar, or maybe a player searching for some interesting and slick chord moves to stick in their bag of tricks - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!

Brewster - Your channel & lessons are fantastic. Love the performance notes and "Behind the Music" stories just as much as the lessons themself. Please don't ever change your format. It's perfect how it is. I know some may want you to just "shred" for 25-30 mins... but you are a natural teacher, and to teach, you have to of course explain.. and you do a fantastic job of it on each and every video. I promise you all of us subscribers appreciate what you do. Happy Holidays and we look forward to the next video!

Kiss guys rag on him and every other player they let go except for Bruce and Bob. Guessing Vinnie had the talent and ego just like Paul and Gene and three's a crowd, as they say. Some of their best post-ace output was with Vinnie imo.

Finally i been asking for 3 to 4 years. Vinnie Vincent arpeggio lesson would be nice because he uses hybrid picking and his scale runs sound edgy and thrashy in his VHS REH lesson he made in the 80's. Its to bad they didn't make more Vinnie Vincent Invasion album or come out with a live album and unrelease songs or demos, maybe one day they will. The Vocal Melody for both songs Love Kills and That time of year uses certain scale degrees in the vocal melody line that are played against those chords that make the vocal melody sound atypical and eerie. I wish you would have played the vocal melody at the same time as the chords like what jazz guitarist do to learn how advance vinnie vincent songwriting skills

Great lesson David. Lots more guitar players are influenced by Vinnie than they care to admit. Highly experienced and accomplished player even before he got to Kiss. Didn't he play with Dan Hartman in the 70's? Wished he was a bit more under control with his solo's on the VV albums. Some of the riffs are kick-ass. When I was a pimply teen in the 80's, Boyz are gonna rock on MTV was like "WOW"!

Nice PRS. I worked for the company for a while and got a USA Core Tremonti as my 2 years of service guitar. Paid peanuts. Sad Vinnie hasnt been able to put anything out in the past 30 plus years. I used to have that instructional VHS. Read Bobby Rocks book of how Vinnie made him re-record all his drums. What a nightmare! Always loved the marriage of Horror and Metal bands on the soundtracks. 🤘

Hello David. You play power chords like I’ve always played them, with my Index and pinky finger. I feel that this technique has helped me develop a stronger pinky for lead playing, as well. I first heard Back On the Streets music video by John Norum, which I really liked. It wasn’t until a few months later that I heard Vinnie Vincent’s Back On the Streets. I still like John Norum’s version better.
