I literally played a very old version of that Bugera the other day, and I was so impressed with how much sound it put out. I've been thinking about it ever since because the price was just perfect.
The 22 watt Bugera is one of the best deals you can find for a budget tube amp, IMO. Giggable, multi-channel with a nice eq and separate volumes, effects loop, verb, serviceable cleans and dirty tones -- good stuff!
Colin I can't play any where near as well as you, I'm taking a lot of comfort from these comments, I'm 53 years old but hate trying stuff in music shops, i always feel like I'm being judged, of course I'm not but that's what stress and anxiety do to us. Thanks for such an honest film
Chappers and Danish Pete chemistry was interesting. They do not finish each other's sentences - but I'd like to see more of them like this. Can't help thinking they could learn from each other while we sit back and learn from them both.
It was interesting to see Pete be the one telling Rob what to get and giving him gear advice. Rob's always been the one with the huge amount of product knowledge and experience (as I'm sure he would tell you himself), so it was fun watching him be just like a normal customer and Pete being in charge.
If you are a gigging musician. And want assurance of a well setup guitar. That Telecaster makes total sense. AND, you can recoupe all of it when you sell it on.
I only watch when the Chapmanderton combo comes out. They have such great chemistry and is always entertaining. Rob had a really interesting opportunity here that he considered and then dropped. He could have done a pedalboard amp into a PA, which is a great gigging setup. I've never had one so it would be fun to live vicariously through them.
Anderton's is my favorite channel on YT, and I watch YT more than any other media, so that makes Anderton's my undisputed favorite........what I love is that that almost everything you post is "must watch" and I marvel at the level of output. Almost everyday something new is up. IDK how you do that, but we sure are grateful.
That little Bugera is so rad. I have one. My favorite practice amp but works for reallllly small gigs too. I played it in a moving bus once. It was perfect for that.
I'm glad you made this kind of video again. I love seeing you guys going around the store in the videos looking for gear. I still love that boutique room and was eyeing that Gibson Les Paul Custom.

Lee, Rob, Pete, Rabea, Matt - the whole crew I really do thank you for creating such a fantastic channel that continuously give myself (and I'm sure many others) a break from our minds and, albeit briefly, shine some much needed light into our lives
More of these please! These challenged where we get to watch your process finding the right gear is my favourite, so cool to see the thought process before hearing results. Maybe re-create some of the older challenges with todays gear?
I have that Bugera V5. I put tung-sol tubes and a Jensen C8R speaker in it. It sounds immense, reminds me of a tweed Fender Champ. Sounds amazing with both single coils and humbuckers.
I have the amp too. I put different tubes and changed the speaker out as well. Can't remember what speaker I put in it. Sounds great. It's currently my niece's practice amp.
I have the t5, the lunchbox head ...popped an amperex el84 and a mullard ecc83 in it...punches way above its weight class for the $150 US I paid for it...those 2 tubes are probably worth more than the amp itself these days lol
32:48 so true Lee. To be more specific it’s really the speaker and the cab that make the largest difference. But guitars are so visual we can’t help ourselves.
Those Bugera's are a very nice amp for the money. And they're easily upgradable. I have the V22 Infinium and it's all I need for a small venue and band practice. I even record with it. I dropped in a Celestion 12 inch speaker, put in premium tubes and replaced several of the pots and jacks with Switchcraft and CTS brand name parts. The ones that come with it are functional but very low end. That's how they're able to sell them so cheap. There's also some mods that are going around for the tone controls. Replacing certain capacitors and resistors with different values. I don't think I will go that far, I am happy with what I have done to it already.
I had read about reliability issues with the lh 1000 and have also been considering the lh 500. I love the fact Larry Hartke stands behind his products. We need more folks like him.
4:28 - Pete is such a good salesman. He just says what you want to hear in guitarist-words and makes a sale. - I'm not even joking: About one guitar he said "It's so singy!", which was in some video not even about that guitar, and it was exactly the words I needed to hear for a guitar I was looking for, and I purchased it. - Of course, I listened to it as well, he was simply accurate about what it sounded like. Literally….the best job in the world!! Picking tone and guitars for a video, then going to enjoy your selection, and getting paid for it. Totally my cup of tea 🍵. Definitely an IPA afterwards lol
I love this video format, especially when it’s not the same old gear. Very interesting how much better the expensive guitar through the cheaper amp sounded, but there wasn’t a huge quality drop on cheaper guitar through expensive amp. I do have a theory that an amp needs to have a big power section to sound big, even at lower volumes.
With Robs budget I personally would’ve gone for like the walrus acs1 or one of the UA amp pedals and some kind of pa or frfr guitar cab. They mentioned it, the bugera sounds pretty good, but I’ve not needed a legit amp in the room for several years now.
I bought my USA Fender Stratocaster plus new in 1994, and it's the same 3 tone sunburst as yours. I've had a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates fitted in the bridge, an SSL3 in the middle, and a little 59 in the neck. I've had the trem blocked, and it sings, it's a much better guitar than it ever was. I've also had a gold scratch plate fitted, so it looks a lot like yours.
Great video. Only in the world of guitars would someone say, ok I want premium guitar awesome gold paint, but can you scratch up that beautiful paint also. Never would you hear someone buy a brand new sports car and say, but before you deliver it to me can you drive off road through all those bushes and get it that all scratched up beautiful patina. Cheers!
It's so true that the bigger amp budget is by far the most important piece. Those great import Gretsch guitars are just awesome sounding period (never mind they are cheap). Cheap amps just don't cut it though - so spend your dollars (or pounds) on a good one.
I like the Chappers setup. The first guitar I bought was a Gretsch Streamliner after seeing him play Metallica on it. My first tube amp is the Bugera V5 Infinium. And I love expensive pedals-toys.
I have a Bugera V5, the older version before the Infinium models. Had it for years. I put in an Eminence Patriot speaker. Awesome little amp. It loves all kinds of pedals and sounds great
Bugera v5 was my amp of choice for the last 10 years. In a meantime, I bought and sold Laney Cub 12 and Egnater Tweaker 112. Honestly, I don't need anything else for my room, studio or gigs. It sounds just fine in recording mix and it also goes on par with my drummer when cranked up. I never go above Gain 4 and Volume at 2 at home with Boss ME-70. I did changed a tube to JJ Electronic at some point
I absolutely LOVE 29 Pedals. I have the Euna and it is magic. I also run the Oamp and I highly recommend these 2 pedals for anyone who runs multiple effects.
I have that Bugera 5w amp and it really is a fantastic amp for the $$. I use it primarily at band rehearsal and leave it in that space. It is definitely loud enough and holds its own. For gigs, I take a larger amp, but I am always pleasantly surprised by the Bugera.
@@Coop-kx2tk I agree that the stock bugera is dark. I was looking for a solution and read all the reviews on sweetwater. Many reviews mentioned a $45 (it was $29 when I bought it), 8 inch Celestion speaker that made that little amp a killer. Easy to swap out and it really brought the amp to life. Clearer, cleaner. Tighter bass, more balance. Give it a shot. Money very well spent.
The BBE Sonic Maximizer and the Unna pedal do make things sound better - but soon better just becomes normal because you never want to turn it off. I describe the BBE as being like a very thin bedsheet was draped over your cabinet and the BBE takes it away. Adds just a little bit of thickness and a nice polish on the very high end.
