For old time’s sake, you REALLY should have snuck in a Korg Miku
Absolutely
Lee: “I realised we didn’t have a Boss and thought that’s crazy, we have to have a Boss!”
Metal Zone: 😢 “do I mean nothing to you!”
😂
Yes!!! Ha ha 🤘🏽
the "rat" was a clone, too.
Blues driver is a blues breaker clone i believe . So they basically had all the boss bases covered lol
@@terrenceflynn hey Terrance, the only similarities between those 2 pedals is the name and the fact that they are relatively low gain. very difference circuits and sounds overall. cheers!
Sorribly is the most British thing I’ve ever heard
It's short for terribly sorry :)
its crazy how he perfectly described the rat without saying rat lol.
Half of us screaming at the screen: Say it!
And the Marshall at first.
@@metamizol1606 right! he said the Marshall pedal! He knew which one it was just didn’t have the pedal knowledge.
Objection your honor! Leading the witness!
Oh man!!! Dan and Mick doing a pedal blindfold challenge would be a blast to watch!!! Make this happen!
And rename it "Stump that nerd!"
As soon as the Big Muff turns on, he immediately plays "Quiet" by Smashing Pumpkins. Chappers is the man!
to be fair. when he was playing the blues breaker, he said it sounds like that MARSHALL pedal from back in the day!
think he deserves a half point for that one hahah
Came here to say this lmao
He is so good. Sometimes, I wonder if a lot of the tone arguments are BS, but he can obviously classify tone way better than most. He's better than anyone I've seen.
There are some iconic pedals that veterans can recognize almost instantly. For me it's 1. Metal zone because it's a pedal I used a lot when starting out; 2. Blues driver and 3. Tube screamer because I use both extensively the last 10 years. Everything else I wouldnt be able to tell in a blind test
@@memonomoto7419regardless if the knobs are turned all crazy?
@@barnes80 if the knobs are turned all crazy, no one would be able to recognize anything. It's the same with guitars, you turn the tone knob all the way to zero and no one would be able to recognize strats, teles, les pauls, anything.
@@memonomoto7419 Good point. I'm an amateur when it comes to pedals.
I would not have been surprised to hear „It‘s a tube screamer, the left knob has come off and it has a scratch in the bottom left corner“
That Nobels ODR1 was a bit of a wild card…. I also thought it sounded a lot like a Blues Driver. Chapman did so well at this. Hats off to him!
I thought it sounded like the OD3
"all products available i at Andertons" - I'll take seven Klons please :D
Watch the Klon Clone shootout video we did…. (Spoiler alert… Wampler Tumnus wins)
I've seen that (as all of the others) but I want THE KLON! :D
@@andertons Sure, but we haven't seen a single klon clone shootout in 2024 and the year is nearly half-way done! How will we ever know if it still holds up without another shootout?
Sure that’ll be £50000 plus vat and shipping!
Ha ha!!!
Incredible! And in chappers defense, he called out the blues breaker as one of those old big Marshall pedals from way back when.
TECHNICALLY, Rob did say, "Marshall" when playing the Blues Breaker (17:54)
One thing is for sure, when it comes to anything guitar related, Chappers knows his sh*t!
He does
He's like a sommelier of all things guitar-sound 😂 I half expect him to describe things as nutty, or having the essence of stone fruit with warming spice. LOL
I've watched so many of these I've forgotten what Rob's face looks like without the goggles lol
That Pedal Show… Challenge Accepted?!
Your chemistry in front of the camera is unmatched, absolute TH-cam LEGENDS !
Around 17.50 Rob mentioned "a pedal Marshall did" talking about the Blues Breaker
Yeah, he should've gotten that point as well
i love Lee's faces whenver Chapman got the right answer😂😂
A true student of musical gear.
Rob chapman absolutely deserves to be inducted into the yt hall of fame. His ability for this type of video is exactly what built yt into the powerhouse it is today.
The Klon was magnificent and Rob was incredibly intuitive as usual.
Great to see "Chappers" back with the blindfold challenge!
When the video first started, I said "what, no SD-1?" slightly outraged! Glad you included it later on. That's my go to drive pedal 🙂
All of my drive Pedals say Boss on them, except a PSK labeled Distortion DS-1 😂
15:36 Moregain Freeman🤣
The Shawshank Shredemption!
Yer driving miss daisy crazy with moregain!
Pedal name....
Next: Digital John - multi effects blindfold challenge.
I found this channel about a week ago and I'm digging it 😁
this definitely is the second best G-porn show
Ah man you're lucky..you've got an absolute ton of good shit to watch.
No no no, Rob got 6 out 8 correctly the first time, as he didn't say Blues Breaker but said it was the Marshall "thing" and was obviously meaning that specific pedal.
I would give him another half point as he described the Rat as it sounds, but couldn't really name it.
The only one he really didn't get was the Nobles, but got it the second time, after Lee confused him between the Rat and the Blues Breaker.
So, I would give him another half point for that! 😄
Chaptastic as usual!!!
I would LOVE for you guys to bring on Mick and Dan to do blindfold pedal challenges! That would be such great content!
I started using a JHS Notaklon as my main overdrive with the gain anywhere between 3/4 to all the way up. It's a great main overdrive.
It's fun to see someone actually turn up the gain on a Klon, its such a cool sound that you never hear. Eveyone uses it as a boring clean boost.
Josh Scott uses it that way. He doesn't understand people who use it a clean boost!
We needs the googly eyes back for those blindfold challenges 👀
Here we go!! Never tire of these😊
23:36 - I love how as soon as Rob hears the sound of the Big Muff, the first thing he plays is a Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins riff.
The Boss SD-1 is the best pedal on there IMO. Love it: mine is always on my board...
I love all the Andertons videos but what really puts an Andertons video over the top for me is when you bring Rob in. Not only is he a great player, singer and songwriter but it's the chemistry between Rob and the Captain that really works for me. I learn so much from Andertons videos and it does keep me inspired to keep playing. Cheers.
Best video in ages!! Thank you.
What a tasty demo of classic pedal tones! 💯👍 Chapman Is a beast! 🔥🎸, Thanks Lee.
Love watching you 2 again!! Great video
Bro... as I say in every single one of these videos: IT HAS GOT TO BE STAGED
Rob is an absolute superhuman. Borderline mystical stuff happening here.
That Pedal Show would be fun. Multiple pedal clones and they have to guess which one is the O.G.
Rob Plays half a second, then immediately jumps into Quiet by Smashing Pumpkins, an Iconic use of the Big Muff. Impressive!
That's probably the only one I would have guessed correctly. For the very same reasons as Mr. Rob.
@@stulora3172 Yeah, same here.
Watching this WITHOUT playing along in the guessing game, this is actually a great video showing what each overdrive DOES. Again, another no loss video from Andertons!
Day is done. Outside on the deck watching this. Great way to end the day!!
YES!!! Thank you, please do more of these type of videos: speakers, pedals, pickups, picks, amps, cab sizes, amp sims, phasers/flangers, plugins, cables, hell even tuners and buffers! Test Sir Rob Chapman’s ears while he’s still young!!!
These videos are just the best.
Great days listening to you guys. Smiles wide as a mile! Super stuff! More please!😂
Absolutely love what you guys do❤❤❤
That guitar is beautiful, love the colour
That was Impressive Mr Chappers knows the tone - very cool and fun to watch - thanks guys!
I am so happy this is back!! 🤘😀🤘
Lees reaction when Rob said it was like a Klon, lee died a little bit there haha
Damn! That man just catching thats sounds and understand. Looks like magic. I seening he's noticed every singl one!
Finally Robs back. Love it
Any pedal that is 10 years or older, AND used top mounted jacks was ahead of its time.
Rob said Honky @9:50 and Lee had that "what'd you call me look on his face". Funny stuff
Great video
Chapman!!! ❤❤❤❤ you are a master!! The best!! Whatda challenge!!!
Rob continues to have the most amazing ears. Just crazy.
Love these chappers episodes.👏👏👏👏👏
I would love to see a blind fold challenge with the multi effects pedals do we feel it sounds good cause its expensive or is it really worth spending a exorbitant amout for good sound love the work you guys do
Great tips man, have had trouble with this in past, I generally run my hybrid rig in front of a tube amp but now n then il run direct and thats where I’ve had discrepancies
All great drives . Rob did really well 👍
yup the klon was the best sounding one. and I have a nobels odr1 and it's my main drive and I love it. but there was just something different about the klon. it was so clean.
The "Monkey Lord" just constantly amazes me every "Blindfold" challange! It shouldn't any more but IT DOES! Thank you "Captain"!!!
These blindfold challenges are the best!
That guitar is beautiful! It's the best looking Chapman I've ever seen! Tele with Gibson Custom vibes, really sweet.
That was impressive! To be fair I’ve never seen the green nobles pedal before. And Rob guessed the Marshall correct when he originally played it!!
Rob is really good at this! I just bought a Line 6 POD go and I have never owned anything but multi effects pedals. Playing for 30+ years and never bought one. (I know that is pretty weird.) So this has helped me pick out a distortion pedal I like. BTW I really am enjoying the POD Go... Buy one! 😀
I love the Rat. Bought one in the 90s and didn’t love it. Dug it out about 10-12 years ago and it’s my favourite pedal since.
Wow, that Nobels ODR-1 sounded amazing! I've never tried one but I definitely want to now.
I had the mini version, great sounding pedal, but too heavy in the bass for me, and i couldn't filter it out. If you buy one, go for the full size version they use here, as it has a bass cut switch. Just saying.....
ODR-1 is the best I’ve ever owned. Had an original bluesbreaker, bowling ball colored Timmy, TS, SD-1, klones.
It’s literally like a part of the amp
When I watch shootouts like these, I admittedly never try to guess which is which. Rather, I always aim to rank which one is my favorite, make a few notes about what I hear, and then let myself either be surprised or affirmed by what my ears prefer. In this case, the Bluebreaker was far and away my favorite, which is pretty great as my main OD is a Morning Glory!
Rob is incredible, he pretty much nailed that one.
very cool. very fun!
I've watched other videos where metal zone was purposely not adjusted properly to make it sound bad, when properly adjusted it sounds fantastic mild to wild , I have the Waza Craft keep the switch on c. With the excellent 3 band eq you can get just about any sound you want.
Incredible
In my humble opinion, the Lovepedal Amp Eleven doesn't get nearly enough recognition for its amazing tone and touch sensitivity. That thing is crazy good and it's the foundation of my core tone.
I love your Hendrix course a lot. It gives me so much more then just playing Hendrix. I will buy the blues also. Just to have it at a halve price. I will start with it after I finish Hendrix. Suggestion...when I hear you playing all that great Page riffs, you could make a course with great Page riffs and tips and tricks around that like the Hendrix. Have a nice weekend 🩷🎶✌️
I’ve had that JHS pack rat on my board for years! Some great OD tones out of that guy, more than just a Ratt
Unbelievable, Rob really knows his stuff
Rob is amazing
It is definitely all about what you’re familiar with. I could probably tell all the different big muffs apart blindfolded and I could distinguish the rat out of every pedal (its my favorite) but I probably couldn’t tell a sd1 from a ts808 from a blues driver from a klon
Been watching a few of the older vids on this channel before this one, and just want to say Rob looks fantastic with the shaved head 💪
* Nuno does use a Rat pedal but he doesn't use it for fuzz or gain. He only has it in the signal path to slightly mod his tone. He explains it best. Watch the Rick Beato interview.
Chappers is unreal. Thats crazy lol. I would have option paralysis trying to guess pedals lmao.
I have no idea what the next blindfold challenge with Rob could be, but I can't wait for it!
Rolex Explorer and Klon Centaur; can’t go wrong with those:-)
cheers guys!
Sneak an mxr super badass into this and use the eq and gain knobs it'll sound like many of these pedals.
I need another one with I never got rid of it. Every pedal I've ever owned and sold that one is my regret.
Mxr super badass. Way underrated pedal.
I think he did bloody great 👍
Great ear Rob!
That pedal show definitely need to take you up on that challenge
Klon sound great, but I also really liked the Nobles.
Ola pointed out that the Metal Zone is miss used by most guitar players. It is often used before the preamp, when it should be used in the FX loop.
I love the Rat. It has so many different tones and they all sound great. It also clears up very well with lower guitar volume.
Btw. JHS made a long video about the rats development and you can hear how its sound basically stayed the same.
Crazy how much attention the ODR-1 is getting since Line6 added the model (Prime Drive) to the Helix.
I’m amazed at Chappers ability to get all of these!
I’ve heard Klon demos where I’ve thought, ‘So what?’ But that one sounded incredible.
Just insane
yes! TPS challenge! let’s see it
