I worked at UCLA and went to Berkeley for undergrad, USC for a masters. Berkeley is depressing and weird, but I’d never go to an LA-based school again. So fake, polluted, and expensive for such little quality and bitchy attitudes everywhere.
I definitely relate when you brought up UC Berkeley and you feeling like its great and all, but you grew up around there and sometimes just something new as in location is a big deal. Like my big local school is University of Washington, it's fantastic and I've heard nothing but amazing things and have been there many times. I'll be a Senior in highschool and I'll definitely apply to UW but I want to be in a new spot, so it's a lot lower on my list. But for folks not in Washington I could see UW at the top of their list because it's such a great school
it depends on if it is a major class and the situation you were in. If you have a w and need the class for your major then you have to retake the class eventually and hopefully you get an A so it wont look bad. But lets say you change major and drop a class you dont need or find out that the class isnt necessary then if you explain that in your essay they will most likely disregard it
Ws are pretty bad .... u should never get more than 1... W is basically telling the admission officers something rly bad happened to ur grades so that u don’t wanna show it .... so you had to withdraw from the class ...
Hey Kendrick, love the vids bro 😎. Do you think you could make a video about your transfer essays? People always talk about having a “spike” and some of us don’t. Did you have one and how do you think you can succeed without one?
what kind of grades did you have in high school bc i want to get into music at USC but not sure if it’s worth it to take APs and stuff bc i could just focus on my instrument
Good post. But let's clear up a few things Both schools are not close in rankings. But let me give some context here to make sense of it all. UCLA is a state institution with the wealthiest State in America supporting that institution. For example, USC's endowment is about $5 billion. UCLA raised about $5.4 billion from 2014 to 2020 from alums and friends. Because it's part of a state-wide system UCLA shares an endowment of about $161 billion and shared equally its total is about $17 billion-plus its already $60 billion personal endowment. This matters because it has tons of cash for students. UCLA is a behemoth and considered a top 10 or top 20 school. USC is not, it's private and doesn't get tax money. Here is a tale-tell sign. Universities always poach faculty from each other. USC faculty always desire to go to UCLA and NOT the other way around. It would be seen as a step down for a UCLA faculty member to leave and go to USC. The latest was the star USC faculty member Robin DG Kelly who left USC for UCLA about two years ago. USC undergraduate education is not respected nationally. USC is known for passing students because it cannot afford to alienate its students who pay extraordinary school tuition. It's very expensive at USC. I have known professors that complain that USC is just a finishing school for the wealthy. UCLA's undergrad is very well respected. Where USC does compete is its graduate programs. USC law, dental, and medical schools are equal to UCLAs and well respected. USC's alumni networks are said to be better than UCLA's. Not sure about this but it makes sense. But I am not really sure if this translates to much of anything at the end of the day. In short, both will get you the proper education if you take serious classes and study hard. Going to USC and UCLA is about preference and you should NOT base your decision to attend either on rankings. That is rat poison.
This just simply isn’t true. Ucla is ranked higher but you’re just splitting hairs when you get to the ranking both of them are at. Also all your evidence is anecdotal. You mention the one professior that I’ve never heard of as evidence that UCLA’s professors are higher quality and that is all the evidence you have? As someone with friends at both schools it seems like USC’s smaller classes allow for much more interaction and a higher quality of education. A quick google search of that Professor reveals that he is a UCLA alum. Do you think that could possibly have influenced his decision? Come up with more evidence that is not a single anecdotal case. Also when you compare endowments remember that UCLA is a bigger school and would naturally need more funding. The only pro-USC point you make is the grad school that you concede to USC. You fail to mention that USC has better film, arts, business, and other schools. Look at the school built by Dr.Dre. UCLA has nothing that competes with that. Both schools are great but the logic isn’t there. UCLA has a fantastic medical school as well as others but your splitting hairs because both schools are so closely ranked. They were tied until a few years ago when USC fell because of scandals. You also make ridiculous claims without any evidence about how USC is easy or a finishing school. It doesn’t make sense. I looked you up and you went to UCLA and Notre Dame so it’s no wonder you don’t like USC but please don’t spread libel. You seem like a smart person based on your degrees. Also thank you for your service in the armed forces. I read about that as well. Have a blessed day.
The only metric for schools can’t be a single professor leaving for his own alma mater. I’m sure Sasha Obama could have gone anywhere she wanted but she chose USC. Doesn’t that count for something as well?
Corrections: UCLA is higher ranked than Berkeley. UCLA is the #1 public university and Berkeley is #2. UCLA is in the top 15 of all Universities and USC barely makes top 20.
@@Tennisshoes457 Rankings are indeed over rated and don't tell you much about the University and its quality to the students. While UCLA and USC are both highly ranked (I attended both and graduated from UCLA) they both have good points and bad and I didn't see how they both were any better than the other Universities I attended except that UCLA had more resources than USC and the other universities.
If you like guitars & music.......................
Thanks for the videos man! When I started community college I started watching your videos. I'm now transferring to USC Thornton for guitar. Fight on!
Congrats dude and major respect
I think UCLA and USC are the best colleges in the country overall. You can't go wrong either way.
L opinion
Wrong. UCLA is way better bc I said so
@Idris Mullick depends on the major
@Idris Mullick not just simply academics, usc and ucla have the best combination of academic ,social life, and sports in the country

I really love that USC students can get private guitar lessons from Thornton music school!
Love ur vids bro! I hope you can tell us about how your career is going and your plan after getting a usc degree
ya good vid topic
Thank you for this video! I’m going to USC now as a journalism major
Why did you choose USC?
Because you’re smart, duhhhh!!
Fight on! ✌🏻
No, it's Because he's rich
It’s funny how USC is known for hella expensive tuition but the neighborhood surrounding it is more “ghetto”
I wouldn't walk around at night but USC does have 24/7 patrol service around campus. As for UCLA, I am uncertain.
I am going to USC and chose it over UCLA and Berkeley ✌️
I'm sorry. Good luck

Close to Crypto though huge plus
USC is way more expensive than UCLA.
Bad choice.
Why
cuz usc sucks
KENDRICK H. RHEE is that a joke
JayDig 3 ......
He made the right choice. No reason to study harder at an academically demanding school like UCLA.
