I gotta say, even though the ship was not originally intended to be a sailing vessel, her lines and design are definitely well suited for that purpose. Great work, guys. Shes looking good!
The hull design was used to build around 250 steel, and 100 wooden tugboats. Since you can't bend wood in the way you can do with steel, the lines had to be pretty sleek :)
Your father and you! you are a great team! And the tiger..... you have the perfect boat to circumnavigate the world!!!!. You are very lucky to have your father by your side and you both share the same dream. The tiger is a beautiful boat! Greetings from the Basque Country in the North of Spain.
Thanks for letting us join you on your journey, such a beautiful vessel. It reañly makes me proud to see father and Son working together, what a team, enjoy your voyages
You must be proud of her, she has aged well, upkeep is very important so being a shipwright i know you have been putting in the many hours of upkeep in your ship, we are anticipating your upcoming trip to different lands. Halifax Nova Scotia Canada
That was so great to watch! And it's a sign of how prepared and thorough you are, that the dry dock 'to do' list didn't get any longer. Good to see the bow thruster installed -- but does it work? I'm sure we'll hear next time ;-)
Thanks! It works fantastic! The frequency converter has a couple seconds ramp up time that takes some getting used to. But if you know, it's not an issue, and probably better for our generators :)
THE BOAT LOOKS LIKE NEW AGAIN AND GLAD THAT YOU WERE ABLE TO GET ALL OF THE REQUIRED HULL REPAIRS MADE WITHIN YOUR 2 WEEK WINDOW. Looking forward to seeing you and your dad out cruising. 😊
Anytime I see your videos I can't just wonder how lucky you are in having your father that not only is helping you but even bought such a boat several years ago. Sailing her would be simply a dream, as there are places I would go with such a beauty very off the grid. While I'm stuck struggling to find a bost that is big enough to set sail.
I truly feel very lucky about it, but it was actually grandpa, and already 50 years ago, who was willing to spend his pension to buy this project boat :)
Good to see Tigershark on the move. The footage from the mast reminded me of a boat with a mast camera linked to the AIS you could see each boat and the software overlaid the other ships AIS details over the live feed, looked a really clever system for keeping watch on long journeys. The bow tube install looked nice and easy 2x 👍
Great work on a great dockyard! Also welded in a (360 degrees DIY) bow thruster! Set the tunnel and shafts up in the weekend and the yard did the finish welding. They were very relaxed about it all. Would still go there but sold te ship. Keep it up!
She is a Beautiful vessel for Sure! Would enjoy being there sharing tour adventure! I have veen laud up for a few years and now fully operational again! Have been joined to the Sea and Boats all my life! And for 60 years have been a ship/ boatwright! Schooners are so Special and had the pleasure of restoring one from keel up and she now lives in Amsterdam worked on the project in the USA for 18 months with myself and 3 other of my friends and also boat guys. When finished to make the Journey she went to Amsterdam on her own bottom. Many years later I am sure she is still there. Havent attempted to find out yet, But thinking I should. Hope the boatyard is quick and Painless! Lol Thank you for your video
Great work. Well planned and well executed. No nonsence. Real Dutch. Love it. Would like to hear your final objective and your plan how and when to get there. Good luck and keep the excellent videos coming 👍
Thanks a lot! We do have some plans on where to go and what has to be done before that, but no deadlines or timeschedule or anything. We're not gonna rush anything, but I'll make a video about the plans and all that stuff soon :)
Jaa viel alles mee!
Training course in Leeuwarden, uitsmijters for lunch in Grouw, stayed at a hotel in Drachten and plenty of beer, good life back in 1981. Had a fling in Drachten as well 😊
did you find the source of the black water corrosion coming out of the coolant system? I really like dry exhaust systems. do you have a keel heat exchanger for the engines? all that work and more not shown in the video in just 2 weeks!!!! Bravo to the dock workers. I'm sure you and your dad did a lot of work too. my favorite building material for a boat is steel. as a welder myself, I enjoyed watching all the work on the hull. Nice job on the bow thruster!!
We suspect the source is just the cooling liquid gone sour. The anodes in the system were still like new. I agree! We don't want salt water running through the engine or exhaust pipe. All three engines are cooled through the bilge keel heat exchangers. Thanks a lot!
It's works great! Easily enough power. The frequency converter has a ramp up time of a few seconds, which is felt a bit strange in the beginning, but once you know, it's not an issue. And much better for the generator, I guess :)
46 ft Koopmans staal.
Shipdock Draaisma in Franeker.
I am surprised you get away with only drydocking every five years. I Australia I can get away with two years otherwise anodes and growth gets to be too much
We are currently on fresh water, which helps a lot against rust, and keeps the anodes relatively fresh. The growth is really not that bad, probably because of the colder water temperature? But I'm not sure about that. When we start sailing on salt water permanently, we will probably have to do more drydockings.

Wow ! The boat looks beautiful ! And so much was done ! Can’t wait for the day that she will be under full sail ! What a beautiful boat !👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks a lot! We're looking forward to that as well :)
Great job! The Dutch are really tuned in to boat building and maintenance.
Loved the ride through the countryside.
We enjoyed so much following your project, guys! Cool work 🤛🤝🙏
looking great sailing along. Fantastic work.
Prachtig.

very nice video, vessel is looking good !
Thank you!
Wat een geweldige aflevering! Prachtig om te zien. Mooi die samenwerking tussen vader en zoon. Veel succes!
Bedankt!
Aluminium based primer - not what I expect but, what would l know 😊
Now that I read it, I have to correct myself, it's actually Chlorinated Rubber based, and aluminum pigmented :)
The mast cam is super cool - nice to see Friesland from the above - thanks for the great video and have a good time.
Thanks! I couldn't film the whole trip, gotta think of a way to keep the battery charged for the next time :)

Thank you! We sure are :) Who knows, we might drop by on our way to her roots in Trenton, at Lake Ontario :)
Wow is that a long bowsprit! You could accidentally sweep clean a few docks with that, l'm sure! Interesting boat, for sure!
We sure have to keep that in mind when manoeuvring :)
That was so great to watch! And it's a sign of how prepared and thorough you are, that the dry dock 'to do' list didn't get any longer. Good to see the bow thruster installed -- but does it work? I'm sure we'll hear next time ;-)

Great job you both ... as always. Congrats from France.
Beautiful weather too. Europe can have great weather this time of the year.
It can! But you gotta have a bit of luck on your side as well :)
Interesting job, glad you are documenting it.
Very interesting part. Many thanks for the sharing
What a wonderful vessel.
We really enjoy the videos of your rebuild of Tigershark. Great job and always looking forward to your new videos!!!!!
Thank you!!!
Great work , you guys really know your ship inside and out . excellent video !
Outstanding video, both for all the work that got done and for the trip seen from the top of the mast! Congratulations!
Thank you! That means a lot :)
heb bewondering voor jullie aanpak en professionaliteit!
Bedankt!
What a beautiful ship ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very exciting. We happen to be moored in Franeker and saw you pass by. Great progress!
Ah cool! I think I missed you :) Thanks!
Gave video’s!

Succes.

Great video, did you test the bow thrusters? If so how did they perform?
It's works great! Easily enough power. The frequency converter has a ramp up time of a few seconds, which is felt a bit strange in the beginning, but once you know, it's not an issue. And much better for the generator, I guess :)
The soft start will give you a less jerky thrust so that any crew on the foredeck won't be thrown off balance
Merci beaucoup!
How well does this boat sail? Seems to have very little lateral resistance under water
She sails pretty well, not like a yacht, of course. The hull itself has a big lateral area, and the boxkeel underneath does the rest :)
Ok can’t resist asking the dumb question… where is the keel or what substitutes for one?
There's a 30x30cm box keel underneath the hull, filled with lead. The hull itself does the rest :)
Mooie video mannen
Bedankt!
New to your channel.
Will you charter this beautiful ship?
We just might! There's space for up to 10-12 passengers, but it's also just the right size to sail around without guests :)
Wel gedaan!!
Bedankt!
what is Tigershark draft? thanks
2,65m currently, maximum 3m
3:51 something is off... This kind of stuff happens, when you meet yourself while time traveling
I am very confused
@@tigersharkboatworks It's a river bridge over a road, I found that very funny :D
Hahahah ah yeah they're common in the Netherlands, keeps the boats out of the way of the cars :)
What make of engine is driving the boat
DAF (truck engine)
Hei. Does it have ballast tank with water? Or only tanks with fresh water?
No ballast water, she's steady enough without. Only potable water tanks :)
@tigersharkboatworks aaa ok because in one video you said that they pump it with 7 tons of water.
Yep, that's for drinking :)

questionable rudder response?
Without flow from the propellor, it could do with a bit more :)
