Great analysis by Cirroc, Ryan and The FFA on this very interesting episode. Sad that Michael Westmore's Wi-Fi was kerflatzered for the first segment, but the lads carried on. I love that detail about Michael Westmore bringing up "The DJs" and they were two actual DJs in the LA area - FFA and #ChatPack solving the mystery!! The Live Chat is the place to learn all kinds of stuff, some of it even useful! ONE LOVE #ChatPack, The Next Generation of #ChatFam!!
The alien makeup in this episode is possibly the most memorable - and the most complex, the extensive and time consuming in the whole series. Six hours with four makeup artists, two hours to remove and a nurse required for toilet breaks! That's on top of a possibly 10-hour day, for however long the makeup is required for the episode - hopefully only one or two days. That's a lot! It's a pity that we couldn't hear about it from Michael Westmore himself due to technical problems (reconfigure the power couplings, sir!) Some sort of/some kind of - there were a lot is this episode, but I think you have to expect that in scifi. If they were encountering familiar species and phenomena, we might be bored. I really liked Geordie's friendship with Susanna, which is always a great basis for a relationship. (Just saying, Geordie 😉) The footage of the initial investigation and the later recreation were really creepy looking, all shadowy. We saw the little shuttle with no toilet again. It was quite eerie to see the light on but no one home. I think the rewatch of the footage could have been done in the conference room with the senior staff, but maybe some of the cast were having a few days off - maybe all the makeup artists were working on Levar Burton. 🤷♀️ I enjoyed Geordie working on the mystery with the computer, because we know the computer loves Geordie. 😍 I think Levar Burton did a great job on this episode. He was warm and protective with Susanna when she needed it. When he was playing the alien, you could feel his fear and confusion. The scene with Data and Crusher was really lovely. If Data had a heart, I would say it was a loving one. He really cares for those he considers friends. I really liked the medical stuff in this episode. Gates McFadden did a good job and we got to see Nurse Ogawa again and some nifty new medical tech too. Lots to like about this episode. Catch you next week. 🖖
I actually noticed the eye drops. There is a scene in sickbay. Her eyes are closed, but I can see like yellow glowy tears just barely sticking out the sides of her eyes. lol
In All Good things Geordi's wife was Leah. It was never officially confirmed that it was Dr Brahms, but that's the assumption. In Picard she was just "mom".
I never felt like the connection logic never needed an explanation. Something they shared as being part of this species connected them. And dogs can't speak english, but they do understand us based on how we say what we say.
wierd. I love this episode. I don't think it was one of my I need this over season 6 episodes, but still good. When I was doing my 7 season great, good, meh, and bad tally to determine which season to buy, this was in the good category for sure.
I'm pretty sure that the medical technobabble was realistic. And everything she mentioned was real. I may know the components of the warp drive, but that's not real. lol
I wonder if this is where Brannon Braga got his ideas for 2 of the worst episode of star trek and 1 mediocre episode of Orville that all have basically the same plot. The orville episode is closer to this one though. I'm referring to Genesis (TNG), Threshold (VGR), and Shadow Realms (ORV). Ironically this episode is better than all of them combined. lol
Mark & Brian, who were radio DJs in Los Angeles at the time (95.5 KLOS), had non-speaking roles as the glowing aliens in this episode.
Just got up to the part where Carrie Schwent mentioned the DJs. Right on.
A fun, if often forgotten, episode! Great review, as always!
❤❤❤❤
A solid Geordi episode - thanks @the7thRule !
Another great review from The 7th Rule!

memetic in this case just means she was turning into a perfect chameleon and her skin would effectively make the light bend around her.

The last episode gave me nightmares for a month. This episode never scared me.
