I used to take my GEORGE to the car wash once a year to degrease and power wash. Then I saw a hack about using parchment paper to line the grill. I shared this trick with family members. Some didn't have "gfg" at the time, but good news travels fast! The paper liner lasts about 5 pounds of bacon, burgers, or what have. A damp cloth is all that's needed. It's that simple. By the way I'm in my seventies, so you know is easy and simple. Just as a side note, I tried cutting those copper oven grill mats.... parchment paper is the best. The grill marks work great. For cooking tuna steaks, I use aluminum foil over the parchment paper to enhance the grill marks because of the short grilling time. Hope you find this helpful.👍🥑🤔

Your video was a lot better then some I seen on here , one guy put it in the sink to clean it ! guess he don't know you don't put electric things in the sink, even if its unpluged lol The way I always cleaned mine is heat it up ,unplug it and put at the edge of sink . Use a wet sponge an wipe right off easy peasy !!

Or you can try what I do and get you some ReynoldsKitchen Parchment Paper Cookie Sheets and unfold them and place them on the grill. The fold obviously needs to be at the hinged part of the grill. Place the meats between the top & bottom of the sheet just like you would without the parchment paper and close the lid. The parchment will not burn and it won't stop the meats from browning or getting the grill marks. I make sure the drip edge will still let the liquid flow out and into the catch tray. I also line my catch tray with foil. When your through cooking the cleanup is almost non existent.

Then I take another wet paper towel to basically rinse it. Then I dry it. Maybe it's because I always spray with cooking oil that nothing ever sticks.

Yeah, I've got a very old Dazey clamshell grill. It comes with four plates, two of two different kind for the top and bottom of the contraption. One set has a flat side and a waffle side. The other set is just for triangular sandwiches and you should really only use one side of those. I've got that and a George Foreman grill. I hardly ever use either one of them. I don't like my particular GF grill because the plates can't be removed. And I hardly ever use the Dazey because it's so old I'm afraid it might try to catch on fire if I plug it in. Plus I'd rather just splatter hamburger patty grease all over the stove so I can clean it up afterward.

I just unplug it put dish soap on it and scrub with a nonscratch scrub pad. Then hold it under the faucet and rinse off. Turn it over let it drip/air dry. Works on paninis too!!

Doesn't work when there's black stuck on bits on mine 🙄

    • @diyfab

Funny Fajitas hey there I would add more water and let the grill heat for a couple minutes. Then use a plastic spatula (to not scratch the grill) gently remove the black bits and wipe clean with some tissue/cloth. Hope this helps! 😊

I'm lazier and got a better way for you and it hasn't broke and I've had it a long time. Heat it Spray rinse it under your sink possibly wipe if needed repeat. Sandwich makers and waffles irons seem to have held up good too. Less residue to actually wipe off. Of course try to throw your grease plate in the trash to avoid clogging your sink. I tend to heat it again to dry and sanitize it after as well.

Just wipe it with a wet cloth as soon as you are done cooking. It comes right off.
