    What tips and tricks do you have for cooking with a George Foreman grill?

    My tip: As soon as I finish cooking I unplug grill, put a few very moist paper towels over the grill surface, spread it around, CLOSE THE GRILL, go eat. Clean up is a breeze.

    As a single guy I use the Foreman grill very often. I always use parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with Pam for easy clean up

      Same here. I use the single sheets of parchment paper or single foil sheets to seal in the moisture and make for easy clean up.

      So you wrap your meat in the aluminum foil and then cook it that way

    After cooking, I dampen a paper towel and lay it on the grill and close the lid. Then when i come back, nothing is sticking and I can clean it easily.

    Don’t use any vegetable (seed) oil. Use avocado oil instead. That has a very high smoke point.

      The George Foreman Grill officially debuted in 1994...big marketing push from 1994-2004 or so...not nearly as much marketing dollars spent since. A bunch of other gadgets that did effectively the same thing came out though like quesadilla makes and panini presses but I think George Foreman is the gold standard. Lots of improvements and they're still around, pretty impressive!

    It's good while it lasts Unfortunately it does not last too long maybe a couple of months but after that it starts sticking even when the surface looks good so when I cook chicken or fish it usually sticks to the upper plate Using oil or anything else is useless as it runs off Using alumonum foil it just makesit stick to the foil instead of the plate than I have to peel off the foil off the chicken

    • @pattyingram9419

    • @stts762
      @stts762 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand and it does work with parchment paper but now you have to buy additional stuff because the product is not good enough It shouldn't be that way I am trying out an air fryer now At least it's easier to clean as you can take out the bottom plate to wash it but even that one I see some spots where the nonstick layer is coming off I think pretty soon I might go back to frying it in the pan with oil that way I can regulate the temp better @@pattyingram9419

    I always wondered that when you are preheating foreman type grills, are you supposed to heat it with it closed or open? 7:01

    • @successalive5
      @successalive5 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I always keep it closed. First for safety, you would not want to touch the hot plate accidently. Second because the closed position will trap the heat in.

    • @jdshear01
      @jdshear01 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Obviously closed will heat faster...but marginally. But as mentioned above, it's a safety issue as well. Newer models have a red/green LED on them to indicate 'Ready' so you'll want it closed to be able to see this. My old model only has a red light to indicate when the heating element is cycling on to maintain temperature, then shuts off with the heating element.

      Have fun grilling in negative degrees weather...everything has it's place, nothing will ever beat the classic charcoal or gas grill but I'm not lighting a grill to cook a single 5 minute item for one person, def not going outside in the freezing winter months to mess around with it either. Little pay off for lots of work.
