3 minutes in and this guy already told me more important things about the bike that 3 other "professional" reviewers couldn't in a whole video. All because you have balls to talk about what's bad and are not invited on the press launch where you only have to talk standard mellow positives about whichever the bike. Also, great sound recording.

I picked up my Daytona last Saturday. It’s a very solid bike. The engine is sounds great, the power delivery is great and the throttle response is great. The suspension is fine, adjustable would be better obviously but I don’t have any real complaints so far with the Showa SFBP forks it comes with. They’re fairly stiff and there isn’t a ton of dive under hard braking. This bike is easily one of the best choices in the category on par with the rs660 and cbr650r. Had a guy stop and jump out of his car to ask me about the bike last night while I was eating some food outside a local burger spot. It’s a real head turner.

    • @btgmoto

I echo that - the forks are great, and it stops really well. For me the engine is a real peach, I'd love to map it, and put a pipe on it, even though I appreciate that it's specifically intended to be 95hp exactly.

  • @htmt07

The 95% throttle thing could be due to the bikes ECU still in bed in mode. Don't know if that's a thing on this bike, but we had a Ford Focus 1.6 Ecobeast that could barely reach it's required speed for some things we had to do with it.
Once it reached 2000km, it was "unhooked"
The mirror thing tbh is not a problem of the bike, but more with the preparation.
I also had my fair share of unpleasant experiences with certain workshops I won't call out.
Apart from the very narrow profile of the Daytona, I really like it. It's a shame, they didn't have the Quickshifter on the press bike, though.

It would be quite interesting to see them get some more power out of these from factory in a higher trim level, I know it's at this power for A2 license restrictions but it would be cool to see how far they can push it. The only real example I know is KTM with the 790 Duke and 790 Duke L where the L is just software restricted to 95hp so it can then be further restricted to be A2 compliant. Having a similar treatment with the 660 could make the engine even more lively even if the power difference isn't that big

Looking at how much you liked the VFR, but hated the brakes, I think what you need is a 2014 onwards VFR, with the same unlinked radial brake calipers as 600 / 1000RR of the time (albeit linked up to very rudimentary abs).
You'd then end up with a reliable fun motorcycle you could put huge mileage on. They look the part too.
I've got an 03 800 VTEC with delinked brakes, WP suspension, Staintune exhaust and Gilles Variobars. It's bloody brilliant.

@@btgmoto your right, they aren't a massive step up. But to me they address the main problem with the earlier models i.e can't brake to apex without it complaining and on track days the rear disc cooks. Also lost a few pounds. Evolution not revolution.
If anyone could lend you one it would be brilliant to hear your views, you are saying what I've said for years. A lot of people seem to love the whole CBS thing, I reckon it's just a very primitive form of ABS.

    • @laz1go286
      @laz1go286 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@shortblokeonabikethat CBS thing saved me 3x from a bad road crashes. Each time someone cut me off either intersection or overtaking on a bad spot, and once wild animals crossed within braking distance.
I had no time to grab my brake lever on the bar but I had time to hit the foot brake lever very quickly which gave me so much deceleration that I could just avoid the impact.
So IMO it's a good thing on the road.
Of course on a race track it's bad. But the whole bike isn't designed for the track anyway. It's a fat pig.
So I bought 600 supersport with 50kg less weight, more power, and factory separated brakes. And it's awesome on track.
Tons more fun than the VFR.

Was looking for this exact comment !!! Firstly Nobody is gonna give you a 955…without making you search for it like your life depends on it. Secondly Triumph did a decent job on this bike for the price. You can compare it to its competitors and see what aspects it betters them…or not and talk about owning an old 955😝.
Look at the market for new riders for Gods sake !!!

@@ashwinraggs4226 fair enough, I think you might have misunderstood me though, I'm not saying it's a bad bike, it's not, it's a very good bike, I'm a Triumph fan, I've owned 6 of them, I'm just saying from my point of view, it's not a Daytona, they should have kept the name for a proper sport bike, not a sporty middleweight, just my opinion, no offence ment, Maybe it means that Triumph never intended to build a full fairing full on sport's bike again?

I feel triumph has just missed the target with this bike. Its difference between others in is this new market is the triple, but if they had of done something, like a nice tft or better forks, people wouldnt even look at the 8r or the 660.

That's the difference between quick and fast the 675 was fast this 660 is quick

It's nice that the 660 is finally 'quick' as I found the 80hp version frustratingly breathless

So, it might be a decent commuter and biginners sports tourer... but why the hell did they call it a Daytona then?! Specially since Triumph noticed the problem when naming the Trident.

That, I guess, is nothing to do with what 'purists' would call a Daytona, and everything to do with the first Daytonas of the Bloor-era. Back then, Daytonas were not cutting edge, they were steel-framed, comfy (relatively), roadbikes with full fairings and a sports styling, but no racetrack prowess at all. I own a '93 Daytona 1200.
