    The left steering wheel stalk also includes the control for the wipers and front screen washer. So wiper functions went from right to left. All is on the left now in fact! I took a picture of the left stalk yesterday in Scheveningen. Can send you if you like.

    Thanks Thom.
    When I first saw this car I got interested, not so much now. Volvo is owned by China and this car is built in China.
    Car manufacturers are trying to convince people that minimalism is desirable but it's not to me. I want a speedometer in front of me and a latch on my glove box. Minimalism is about lower labor costs and parts counts, not about convenience for buyers.
    Too bad GM discontinued the Bolt, what a car! you could buy it for $34k with a retractable sun roof with a shade, Bose sound, electric driver seat and heat seats all around, front cooled seats. 360 surround mirrors, HD rear view mirror, tons of safety features a 10.2" display and a driver display. If you were lucky enough to get one they went for about the price of the Volvo Core but just about equal to the Ultra and you also get 500 dollars of charging or an EVSE port for your home along with the $7.5k tax rebate in the states which the Volvo doesn't get.

      Thanks for your thoughts! Some fair points where I agree, I'm heavily doubting whether the EX30 is an 'upgrade' over my C40 or a downgrade.. I'm not really sure yet. Thanks again! 😊

    Thanks Thom. I also live in The Netherlands.(from U.S.) Anticipating the arrival of the EX30 to NL. Your video presentation is much more informative and detail orientated that others I've seen on this new Volvo EV. Bedankt!

      Thanks so much! Happy to help and share my Volvo enthusiasm 😄 The EX30 is already in high demand in the Netherlands, we will see a lot on the road as from Christmas this year, exciting!!
      If you’re interested in volvo, tomorrow is the ‘Volvo Drive Treffen’ in Eindhoven. It’s NL’s biggest volvo event with thousands of volvs, perhaps if you haven’t got any plans yet tomorrow.. 😉 have a good weekend!

    Awesome video 🙌 Didn't know about the Indigo backrest part. In design the Indigo are my favorite, but I also liked that the Breeze had the backpart of the front seats covered in same material. Hmm.. Interesting either way.

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks mate! I was also quite surprised about that Indigo backseat detail, there are some more of those small things which Volvo tweaked on this model, being the 'lower tier' Volvo that's kinda unavoidable I guess. Anyway, looking forward driving this little Swede! 🇸🇪

    Look forward to your in-person visit with the EX30 and hearing your thoughts on the quality, comfort, general impression. My wife pre-ordered one on the "Unboxing Day". We'll see if she ends up buying it when it finally is delivered, which for the U.S. is estimated to be late summer 2024. I hope she does!

    Great review as usual. Do you have a favorite interior?

  • @Willquitus408

    My car is 17 years old, so it obviously uses the standard (analog?) speedometer. Sometimes looking at it takes me a second or two to figure out the speed. Not really bothered by shifting my eyes slightly to the right to see the speed on top of the screen in big font. Seems like the top of the screen is close to eye level anyway. Being able to control a bunch of the car hands-free with Google also helps.
    Great video! Reserved mine the day it was revealed.

  • @TC-ps9sd

    Questions: 1) do the outside mirrors automatically fold on locking the car (Ultra); 2) will a space saving spare be available and can it fit under the luggage compartment load floor? Thank you.

    Great review. Volvo cars have not generally seen as exciting cars in my country Australia 🇦🇺 only known for safety, but I am very excited for the EX30 and wouldn’t have considered a Volvo otherwise.
    Big fan of the Polestar series great to see the main company going in the same direction and all in on electric.

    this is very much a hatchback with attitude: I do wish they'd add a HUD at least in higher end packages. being able to take the smaller batter up to 100% regularly would really increase its effective range on everyday use because you don't need to keep stopping at 80%

    • @mosfet500
      @mosfet500 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, once you get to 80% battery management, even on LFP batteries, slows charging considerably so it will take a lot of time to get a full charge.

    Planning to change my xc40 so was wondering if xc40 wheels are the same as ex30 (have different wheels for summer and winter seasons, so would be nice if i could use same ). Secondly, is back passenger space really that bad as some reviewer said (compared to xc40)? Thanks. Gona wait for your next video.

    I love my e-Golf and it does 99% of what I need, but am tempted by EX30 RWD. It seems to be very similar in size to Golf. Too bad about V2X. Maybe spec will change over time. I would love to be able to get power out of car.

    Looking forward to the EX40 already... 😉You know, when they come to their senses and provide a regular dash and HUD with the main center screen being flexible on some kind of swivel mechanism. Guess I'd have to try, and maybe I could get used to it, but the whole Android tablet on wheels approach to the display didn't really do it for me. Would also love a regular sun roof we could open for less noise ventilation if saving the AC. Far more important to me than the skyview thing, which I think would be just annoying.

      I think many of us are kinda waiting for the EX40 or EX60, now we have small and big... now we need the family friendly suv. Both in terms of space/practicality as price, haha! cheers,

    • @volvo_kristian

      The difference in weight may be because different trim levels. (Equipment). In my spec sheet I had a from weight, and maximum weight in Ultra trim.

    I love everything about this - especially the interior! However, price... I've heard 32000 USD but also starting 45000 euro..? :O

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too! Can't wait to take it for a spin! Prices here in Europe start around 35k, a full spec performance goes up to 50k+ euro. The USD price is insane though, I bet that will make it a succes despite missing the US federal tax credit being build in China.. Thanks a lot for watching!! 🙌

    • @richardhale2117
      @richardhale2117 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thom-lov Re: Tax credit: A direct purchase of a China-made car doesn't qualify for the tax credit, but due to a loophole in the US tax code a leased EV does qualify. In the tax code all leased cars are considered commercial vehicles regardless of their actual use and all commercial vehicles qualify for the tax credit at this point in time. However, the credit goes to the dealer not the purchaser. I'v read that most auto companies are rebating some or all of the $7500 to the customer or discounting the monthly lease payment. I haven't talked to a Volvo dealer, but I hear that $100 per month discount is what they've been doing. So, the buyer gets $3600, not $7500, basically sharing the tax credit with the buyer. There is talk in congress of closing this loophole that gives credits on non-U.S. built cars, so who knows what the tax credit situation will be when the EX30 finally shows up.

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardhale2117 thanks for the info Richard! Seems like a loophole the EX30 will benefit from! Here in the Netherlands we get a 3k tax credit for EVs up till €45k, that makes the EX30 here a very interesting choice for many potential buyers. Let’s hope Volvo will get production running without issues so we see the first cars possibly around Christmas this year! Thanks for watching as always!! 😊

    Lack of driver's display or HUD, the included panoramic sunroof with Ultra trim (should have been optional), windows controls on the center console, moving wiper controls on the left stalk. These would be deal breakers for me.
    I have the same fixed panoramic roof and the same windows control setup on my current ID3 and I hate them.
