    I have the base model 2015 with the 5spd. I bought mine in 2018 with 23k miles and currently have about 148k as of posting. It still has the clutch from the factory and trust me.. I drive the crap out of it every day since I've gotten it. As the engine goes tho, I'm currently facing issues with the valve cover gasket leaking and the lower control arms going out via suspension. Besides that, it's one of the most bulletproof cars I've ever had.

      I’m actually manual swapping my focus and this backs up my reason to do so! I don’t wanna put in that broken design of a DCT again. Bullet proof mtx-75 is a way better option from everyone I’ve listened to

    I |❤| my 2016 SE HB, 2L 5 speed manual. I aim to drive it for, ever. Sleeper insurance rates, sports car drivable @ upper end of power band, 4 wheel discs, stops on a dime, and handles corners like an absolute dream when driven properly. You know, mastery of braking yields most distance in shortest time over any mountain road. This car is versatile and does it all, at econobox rates. Definitely a car worth maintaining. Not the lap of luxury, while it does everything it's intended to do, well. As for the dual clutch, dry tranny automatics, never. But the 5 speed normally aspirated late model Focus hatches are perfect. Mine has 82000 miles, and no drivetrain, suspension, brake, nor fuel delivery issues.
    Super bonus: FLEX fuel, I routinely get 5 to 10 cents less per gallon, via RaceTrac E88. Yep, 88 octane Flex gasoline. It's worth driving 13 miles for me. Works well on E85, too, but E85 makes RPM shift points a bit higher. Super easiest access to spark plugs, routine maintenance is a DYI breeze. I♥️ my '16 SE hatch and trust only me for oil changes. Pad replacement is easy, too.
    The electronic steering system is a work of art. Whomever FMC collaborated with on that did an awesome job. They should offer their services to the general aviation manufacturing industry, imo.

    Just took delivery of a 5 speed 2014 se sedan with the "sport package" and i'm leaning manual in it. It had just had the transmission serviced and apparently according to them and a majority of the focus forums the high clutch bite is pretty normal. It's an experience for sure but I traded in a 2012 jetta se and while this is smaller I can say the focus is way more fun to drive, it has playful handling and it's able to move just enough to get out of it's own way. Once I really get the hang of it I might find myself seriously enjoying this.

      it's literally the best small "drivers car" of that era when equipped with a 5 speed.

    I just recently bought a 2015 Ford Focus SE with a 5 speed. My clutch also grabs high up on the pedal. I gave it an exception cuz the car has 127k miles. Clutch doesn't slip at all, so it seems good aside from the high pedal engagement. But that does make learning easier. The car is fun to drive and gets great gas mileage. I average 33mpg driving to and from work 45 miles round trip.

    Yeah if your clutch doesn't bite until the pedal is almost all the way out and the car seems like it lacks power that's because your clutch is slipping. So you need clutch work, and whoever owned the car before probably rode the clutch

    These manual Focus cars reach Honda and Toyota levels of reliability. I've seen them with over 250k miles with no problems. It's a shame that the criminal DCT transmission went into production. It was misunderstood and not right for a daily driver.

    • @adorablecenturion8436

      yeah cause the 2.0L VVT engines were bulletproof, and were honestly reminiscent of a honda 4 cylinder lol just needed a higher redline version. the old SVT focus cars are still out there for that post 7k revving sound, they're also faster than the modern regular focus, but the miles on those are getting high.

  • @jordenbruce3469
    @jordenbruce3469 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This guy must not drive 4 bangers very often. Cuz that focus seems completely normal, and yes you definitely need to rev them out.

      It didn’t feel right to me because I’ve driven a 2014 base manual focus and it didn’t feel like that. I’m aware that it’s not a super powerful car, but this one felt strange.
