I still don't understand why they didn't develop a normal looking mid-size pickup truck with an 8 ft bed 300 mile range and a package you can buy to charge it at home on solar. You charge up a battery pack during the day at home and then recharge your pickup at night. They would sell so fast. A more aerodynamic version of the Old El Camino would be perfect.

I'm sure it could be smaller inside but what for? It looks like the cab needs to be that size at the front of the vehicle to help with the aerodynamics. They could put in jump seats for passenger/co-driver, storage units for drivers personal stuff, things like that, but I don't think reducing the cab interior would make much difference as far as the efficiency of the vehicle goes. Also, the more spacious interior might make for a better driving experience which could help with driver fatigue, job satisfaction, etc.
FSD for Semi Truck is something we still don't believe in but Big Rig's large size has many understandable reasons, don't you want a comfortable space?

Semi is great, so why is Tesla dragging its feet getting volume production going. Only making 100 in 4 years. I'm disappointed.
Because the company is very badly managed, they have made a lot of promises they can't keep, and the technology isn't there yet. All of Musk's companies are losing money and he simply doesn't have the money to invest in new factories and such. This informercial shows Pepsi using the semis, but the reality is that Pepsi ordered 100 back in 2017 and as of April 2024 has received only 34. Like Walmart and the other companies that ordered the semi back then they are now looking to other manufacturers. They have products that need to be delivered, they can't wait until Tesla gets around to building its factory, no one knows when that will be. Especially since it looks as though they simply don't have the money to invest, and what they have is going to AI, not vehicle production. Tesla is getting a reputation as a company that doesn't deliver what it promises. Understand why you're disappointed, I've been a Tesla investor since 2018 and I'm disappointed too.

Biden Inflation will raise the costs - duh. I think it makes great sense for small distances under 400 miles. Why isn't Elon going with UPS Vans and trucks? I know he is working on it but why let Ford and Mercedes have a first bite along with Rivian (if they stay in business). I'm guessing it's a big battery issue - best wait for better batteries for big vehicles.

As for Vans, Rivian is losing money big time, they'll be lucky to survive.
