  • Dr. Speed Lemon shows you how-to install a new clutch assembly on a 2017 R3. This motorcycle was stolen, wrecked, then left outside. Some rain made its way to the clutch assembly, so that brings us up to speed on why this motorcycle can't move anymore and needs a new clutch assembly installed.
    Check out the whole process and let us know what you think of if you have any questions during your own install.
    Thanks for watching!

    FYI this may be common knowledge to some but if the oil is cold in you bike the friction plates will stick. Just make sure not tht before replacing your entire clutch. Have a new clutch now tho. Your vid was super helpful.

    excellent video, educational and illustrative, I was left with a concern, why is there rust in the clutch chamber?

    Haha I burnt my clutch out, wheelie practice of course. I can roll the bike backwards in first gear. Kinda excited to replace the clutch. Awesome video man.

    Thank you for this video, very nice contents.
    I recently had a problem with my R3 after transportation in a moving pod. It tipped over on other furniture. No obvious damage and I had a engine and transy protection cover on it.
    The bike still starts well. It also shifts through gears, while engine is not on. But the clutch is always engaged, even I pull the lever all the way back. So it's near impossible to move the wheel unless in nutural. The bike will stall itself if start in gear, even with lever pulled all the way in.
    Could you please provide some advice on where to start diagnosing? Thank you.

      You probably have to add more tension to the clutch cable with the adjustment knob on the lever or at the bottom where the clutch is at.

      @@deedle6073 thanks. But I tried that. Not helping much. 😞

    at what mileage do you replace it? my 2020 R3 has 20,000 miles. chain is showing some wear (it's squeaking even when i lube it) but i have replaced all the fluids like brake fluid, coolant etc. clutch is about the only other thing i need done maintenance wise, though i have never taken it into a stealership for service to see what i need

    What is the size of the nut (which socket is used to loosen) that holds the clutch basket?

    How much did all those parts run for I do t know if I need a new clutch, but the shady dealer told me I need to replace my clutch on a 2020 r3 with just 1,043 miles… so actually two questions if im not doing wheelies then why would I be having problems so soon?

    I don't understand how could the plates get so much rust on them. Was the crankcase cover removed? Or the water got in between the seal?

    • @dr.speedlemon739
      @dr.speedlemon739 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bike was stolen and was recovered in pretty rough shape. The original clutch cover was cracked wide open, and it sat out uncovered in the rain and elements for some time.

    I replaced the clutch with a recluse one and the clutch lever is very easy to pull. Is that normal ?
