      The C7 does look great. I wouldn't have even considered owning a Corvette until the C7 was shown off, they did an excellent job designing it. I do miss the circle taillights though...

    C7 vette stock for stock would smoke a supra and it looks better

    I’m in the same predicament as you and I’m going with the Supra everything else is the price range does not compete the Supra is comfortable, it gets looks, it’s easy to mod and the interior is near perfect not to much not to little.

      I totally agree! I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, but I'm glad I loved it. It's crazy that it's so liveable while still being really rowdy and attention grabbing

    Also for the Supra is so easy to make big power. Throw a hybrid turbo on and hopefully yall have an E85 pump nearby and you can easily sit at 650RWHP. You can also do a transmission tune called xHP and it shifts just as fast as a DCT

    • @autolytic
      @autolytic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely looking forward to the ability to make real power from the aftermarket. Coming from a BRZ/86, you're lucky to even touch 300 hp after throwing thousands at the motor... scraping 400 with just a tune is going to be crazy!
      And thank you for the positive comments! Hoping we can improve even more with each video 🫡

    You compared a tuned Supra to a stock c7 Corvette... did you know enough to tweak the Corvette's ride choice to Track mode with Wet on/Traction off? (press center button selector twice) That would have given you your only true "handling" mode.
    Or did you leave it in Touring or stock Sport Mode(s) because you thought you were driving "around town" so you test drove in "old man" mode?
    "70mph in 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear"?? Ummm, NO. I suppose you could lug the engine like that and claim its' massive torque translates to "long gears"... but if you use the gears properly, 3rd is good to 105 and 4th will get you to ~140. 5th will take you to the 180s (that's what "they" say; I've only driven to 143 [in 4th gear]). 6 & 7 are meant for freeway fuel economy (29-30mpg at 70mph). Most guys do what GM recommends--they shift immediately from 1st to 4th in city driving. 2nd and 3rd are for racing; the car's got enough torque to rev first gear to a comfortable shift point at 25-40mph to shift directly to 4th in city/commute driving.
    No arguments with you evaluation of the interior--dead nuts on, there.
    However, if Nurburgring times are any measure, the A90 Supra ran a 7:52 in 2019 (with a wishlist in the low 7:40s). A base cSIX Corvette ran a 7:59 in 2012 and in 2013 GM Authority claimed the c7 z51 ran a 7:39 "with errors", so I don't think there's much of a match at "the track" between the A90 Supra and a c7 z51. Unless you test the Corvette in "old-man" mode like it seems you did.
    Above and beyond the stock variation, the c7 z51 would be a completely different car with a "thousand dollars" of tune and a DSC controller.

      Hello, and thanks for the comment. It may have come off like I didn't particularly like the Corvette on account of how much praise I gave to the Supra, but I did really enjoy it.
      The Supra's tuning was only engine based, meaning there still was a meaningful comparison in the handling/steering feel department. I did play around with all of the settings as you mentioned, but I did not find any combination in which the steering felt better than that of the Supra. Don't get me wrong, the Corvette could easily handle whatever you asked of it, and in the more performance modes the MRC was incredibly composed.. but the overall feel was just more enjoyable in the A90 for me.
      As for the gearing, I do stand by what I said in the video, the gearing is pretty long for a street car. As you said, 4th gear gets you at the top end to 140 mph. As you also said, it's very common for people to go directly to 4th for 1st while commuting at 25-40 mph. Granted you'd probably not want to floor it in 4th at 40 to avoid lugging, but that still gives 4th gear over 100mph of usable mph range. This is great for racing, since being able to keep the car in 2nd/3rd/4th eliminates the need for constant rowing through the gears to keep up with speed changes. But in my opinion it makes for a less engaging street driver, since you feel the need to shift less compared to a car with tighter gear "speed windows".
      The seats were nice though! And, bonus points for the clear roof.
      Stock for stock, the track performance of the corvette is better - even if I tend to discard Nurburgring times since there's often ambiguity and a lot of "what if's" associated with them. Randy Pobst set a Laguna Seca laptime of a 1:40 in a Supra and a 1:38 in a Z51 C7. 2 seconds faster is a lot in racing, but it's still close enough to be considered a match in performance, especially for a non-professional driver.
      The real question I asked myself at the end of driving the two was "would I still prefer the Supra, even in stock form?" And the answer was yes - and even if the C7 was modded to improve throttle response and had upgraded suspension, my answer would have remained the same.

      @@autolytic If you put a 93mm throttle body and throttle controller on that Corvette, the car behaves completely different. I wasn't happy when I got my C7, it felt like a dog. Put those 2 items on the car and it feels unbelievable! My C7 Z51 also has a Supercharger, kooks long tube headers, catted xpipe, and billy boat fusion axel back ,also Tuned.. 570 hp at the rear wheels. Put my car up against that supra and see what happens! And yes. My car is the best color on a Corvette, Yellow!

    • @autolytic
      @autolytic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've heard that the larger throttle body and pedal commander is the best way to sort of "wake up" the C7. Kind of a bummer Chevy released it like that, I would have definitely preferred if the different modes made more of a drastic difference to the throttle response...

    i drive a c6z and I would rather a supra than a base C7. gs or z06 is a different story but that’s more money. The vet v8 makes the right noises and is a tiny bit faster however downPipes and a tune ads 100 hp easy to the supra. and it does have a better transmission and interior. actually, for $43k id buy a low mileage c6z and use the extra to heads cam it because thats what i did 😁. good luck.

    • @autolytic
      @autolytic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think before I drove the C7 I thought the Z06 would be way too much (and it may still be) but after I definitely see how the extra 200 hp would be a riot. I do love those LS7's though, high rpm LS sounds are nuts

    • @timucker2265
      @timucker2265 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      lol to be honest with you, it is too much. I’m almost at 700 hp with these long gears, I’m going to lose my license trying to wind them out which is very addicting to do with the beautiful sound it makes. My LS two with headers Was a lot more usable on the street but just like all of us car guys you always want more power until you have it and then you’re like well. This is kind of silly lol. I wouldn’t do that all over again. I would stay stock on power because it’s fast enough and stock is always more reliable.

      and I like what you said about how surprisingly comfortable The Corvette is something I also really did not expect. I love the way they drive the C6 you sit lower in the seat than the C7. its more raw too. interior sucks but i dont care.

      LS7 valve drop issues have always made me hesitant to get a C6.Z. I think the C6 GS manual might be the best option from that generation. However, the C7 is more refined, better interior and I prefer the more exotic look, especially on the wide bodies.

    • @timucker2265
      @timucker2265 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah, you gotta go widebody or you will regret it. i had a base first and felt pain every time I saw a widebody. The GS is the way to go. I don’t think I would put all the money I did into my car all over again if anything happened to it I would probably just get a GS because it’s more than enough power. The look I have to have but the power not really. c6 or c7 idk tough choice. Probably C7 if I was to change at this point,

    3LT Corvettes jave issues with the leather separating from the dash. If you buy a 2LT you get most of the toys like the HUD and Bose spund system, but not Napa leather interior, and its a bit cheaper. I like my 3LT but if i had to do it over again i wpuld have gone 2LT

      Like what you like but the data matters and on nearly every performance metric the base C7 bests the Supra. Past that the Supra isn’t even in the same universe as a Z51, GS or a z06. It is what it is. Just as a point of order how many GTLM titles does the Supra have vs the Corvette? As a purists measure of performance there isn’t much else to say…
