About this video: Custom Minecraft worlds are a great way to take Minecraft to the next level in 2023. With them, you can add an entirely new experience to Minecraft on your Mac. There are adventure Minecraft maps, survival maps, puzzle maps, horror maps, and more. Truthfully, there are hundreds of thousands of maps that you can install on Mac, and with this video you will be able to play any of them.
The first step of adding worlds to Minecraft on Mac is downloading them. If you already have a Minecraft Map downloaded, that’s great. You can move on to the next step. Otherwise, when you find the map you want click download. Make note of the version of the map as you may need to play Minecraft in that version in order for it to work.
Nevertheless, once your Minecraft map is downloaded, we can install it. To install a Minecraft world on Mac, you need to unzip it. This can be done by double clicking on the file you downloaded. In some cases though, MacOS will extract your Minecraft world automatically when it is downloaded.
With the Minecraft world extracted, we need to make sure that it has the correct files as soon as you open it. To do this, open the folder with your world and keep going through folders until you see the folders and files “DIM1”, “DIM-1”, “region”, etc. When you do, go back one folder and drag this to your desktop. This is what we will be adding to Minecraft.
To install a Minecraft map on MacOS, start off by opening up the Minecraft Launcher. Then, click the Installations tab at the top.
On the installations tab, hover over the Minecraft installation you are going to install the map on and hit the folder icon that appears. Your Minecraft folder will open.
In this folder, find the “Saves” folder. Open this, and drag-and-drop the Minecraft map you want to install into this folder. It’s that easy to get a Minecraft world on a Mac installed.
In order to play a custom world on Minecraft for Mac, you need to play Minecraft from the Launcher. Then, on the main menu, select single player. You will find your Minecraft map here, and to play it just double click it.
In some cases, you may need to confirm you want to play the map as it isn’t made for the version of Minecraft you have installed it for. This usually okay to continue through.
