I remember playing with my siblings and whenever we heard cave sounds we'd lock ourselves up in that little house we built, thinking that it was Herobrine lol
it's crazy how much things have changed. like, the changes have felt so gradual over time, but when you really look back, the whole essence of the game is entirely different from what it used to be
I also remember when swimming was not a thing and instead you had to just slowly bounce your way until you found the next spot of land. I also remember when you could make a corner stair by it's self by making the corner stair with the two others on the side then simply removing them, I miss that feature.
The old version of Minecraft was a horror game for me as a kid. It would give me ptsd from the mobs behavior and the light slowly getting dark. The mobs were scary af back then 💀. But it is very nostalgic. I used to get so mad when creepers blew up my beautiful glow stone cube house full of tamed wolfs in creative mode 💀.

Theyre still ugly. Theyre nice if used correctly in buildd but they are rather annoying. Now that i think about it i LOVED polished andesite though. I remember using it every time i wanted to build a pool in a creative world.
Was a fairly common opinion back in the day. I think we all got used to it

@@dragoblu6758 honestly polished andesite and diorite are one of my favorite blocks to build cave bases with specifically. It always blended In so nicely
Man, this was a nostalgia bomb, started playing around 1.2 release. Does anyone else remember the trial version of minecraft where they would let you download and play minecraft for 5 in-game days without buying it?
oh yeah 100% that was my first experience of Java edition Minecraft. Im just trying all sort of things in those 5 days, and the world is always the same so I've remembered all the place that have diamonds lol
I did not actually realize the blacksmith structure got removed. I remember in the very old versions the lava at the “forging station” often lit the wood on fire. Nostalgia
I haven’t been up to date with Minecraft nowadays, so hearing the phrase “do you guys remember when…” and have it finish with something I still thought was possible is shocking LOL
@@summerbelle1445my friends knows how to covert them from the old edition to the multiplatform one and we mainly use it to create worlds for rollplays cause that's what we do.
The most important difference to me is that nowadays you know how everything works - or you can google it. When i first fired up a furnace and discovered you could melt sand into glass, which was just a "guess", i fell in love...everything was just somewhat logical
This, I remember seeing a friend playing survival and crafting a pickaxe with sticks and wooden planks and I thought it was neat. Then I tried the game back at home and crafted slabs, axes, swords, shovels and even full redstone blocks by just experimenting around. That feeeling of utter discovery by just messing around on the crafting table was amazing.
I really miss the old village. I remember back in the day I had a world where I hijacked one of the bigger houses and made it a pseudo castle fortress in the middle of town. There were no villagers to bother me and everything.
I have such a weird sense of Minecraft right now. To me, granite diorite and andesite are still the new blocks. Dark oak and acacia are still the new wood types. My mind gets incredibly blown away by all the nether content. Nether quartz still has a little bit of a "new thing" feeling to it. I still have the reflex to try to block with the sword to signify peace. And many of the changes you mentioned I didn't even realize they were changed, like I still thought golden apples were crafted with nuggets, and still vividly remember the water splashing sounds, etc. Minecraft has gone a long long way. I remember when ocelots were added. Jesus. The game has BEEES????!!!! AND IT'S NOT A MOD?!?!
@@michaelauger1314 I used to do the Herobrine summoning ritual. In fact when I was like 11, back in 2011 I made a video on TH-cam about me seeing Herobrine xD
I remember the old villages and when villagers clothes were just different colors. There were no blocks to set their profession and you never knew what you would get. Then walking through the caves that were all stone which I actually liked.
I started playing in beta 1.8 when I was a junior in high school. My friends and I all played on one person's account since we were broke and couldn't afford it. We had school issued laptops that could run it, and there were a lot of days in school where no school work got done, but a lot of building and digging! It's crazy to think how much it's changed, and now it's been almost 10 years since we all played online together, pulling all-nighters and attacking fortresses. Those were some awesome times, back before any of us had any real responsibilities. Hopefully kids these days can experience a little bit of that with their friends, too. Remember, you have to grow old, but you don't always have to grow up!
Honestly, i remember having to tell people that chests only spawn in that specific building, and hardly anybody knew that, and would check every building for chests 🤦🏼
Shoutout to the old pocket edition seed, “nyan”. Lava used to be almost impossible to find on pocket edition for some reason, and nyan was the best known seed with lava right near the spawn
@@JCG-049 also when i first started playing i had no idea how to move so i ended up digging myself in a trench and my brother had to get me out, and when my brother first played he shot a cow in the rear lol
Tbh him saying remembering old villages make you a veteran, is dumb. The village and pillage update was only 3 years ago. And Minecraft has existed for 12-13 years. So most users today have been playing for over 3 years which if you’ve been playing a game for 3 years that has existed for over 10, the title of “veteran” doesn’t sit right.
Idk if I’m a veteran for playing the legacy edition for the consoles and stuff (for the PS4 specifically), but I remember they had these really cool minigames on there that they just decided to remove for some reason. As well as the in-game texture packs. Sure, if you wanted to keep playing on the worlds you used them with or just use them permanently you had to buy them, but you could still play on them for free basically like a demo of some sorts. That was actually the first time I got introduced to Minecraft. The nostalgia is crazy.
i miss the old blacksmith chests. getting a chest in most houses in a village is cool and all but the loot is much less satisfying of a find. used to be one of my fave parts of the game - very happy we can still go back to old versions!!
I can remember several conversations with my friends that kinda went like “ooh village… blacksmith!!” just because of how good the loot was especially early game
I remember that blocking with your sword and crouching was a sign of peace. Because we all wanted to live in Minecraft irl, all the kids at school would put their hand across their chest like blocking with a sword when playing tag to show that they were not it and were peaceful. Man, we were creative back then
To be honest, even though the game might be prettier now, I just miss how the old game looked. How dark it got, the contrast between different blocks, I know what we have now looks better but those old textures and lighting effects just hold a special place in my heart.
play the older versions, there are whole communities of people who are dedicated to playing beta and even alpha versions of the game because they feel like you do 😂
as a player I can appreciate old textures hell If I'm JUST playing the game, I'm playing earlier then 1.7.10 modded, but as a I builder I adore new Minecraft textures and blocks. best thing about Minecraft is that you can go back and play whatever versions you want and however you want.
I remember on pocket edition when the old blacksmith building's lava used to set fire to the village and I always had to rush to get the chest before it was engulfed in flames. Good times.
One of my core memories was when I’d turned the music off in MC for some reason. I played at my friends house, and he had the music in very high volume. I asked why. He simply answered ”It’s kind of nice, I think.” I said ”Yeah, a little bit, maybe” If only I knew how much nostalgia the music would bring me.
I actually remember being able to tame ocelots like cats, and how cats would attack chickens! I only played superflat worlds because as a kid I really liked creative mode (and i was terrible at survival), and once I made a house, filled it with cats and chickens, and watched the chaos unfold!
Adding on something here, but I also remember that when you would sleep, you would seem “tucked into” the bed. I used to put carpets on top of my beds so I’d be snug under a blanket!
I read your comment and thought “huh that’s weird, when did they change that? It was that way the last time I played” and then remembered the last time I played was around 2014…
I grew up with pocket edition, It started with pocket edition lite there was like only a few blocks, and back then the textures were a lot darker, there was only a few mobs and the only hostile mobs that existed were zombies, oh and there was no caves.. which made finding iron extremely difficult, I remember being so happy to see an update for the game, and playing it back in the day with my cousins, and making friends through the game with apps that allowed you to host worlds, good times.
I played some really early PE versions when it was a psudo creative game where you had infinite resources, but couldn't fly and there was no crafting. This was before any hostile mobs were added and before sand had physics. I built a tunnel system under the sand just because I could only for it to collapse on me a few updates later. Also remember the nether reactor from before they added the actual nether to PE??
@@njnjco oh yeah the nether ractor- the thing used to supposedly spawn in herobrine 😭 with the nether and gold blocks and red stone torches, I can’t believe I fell for that ..but yet again I was a little kid.
@@_X1M_ I fell for it too, I even named my Xbox Gamertag after him, which is what I use today. I've since learned that he doesn't exist, but I still kept the username to this day on Bedrock, Java, and my TH-cam Channel (partly because you had to pay to change the Gamertag, I don't know if that stupid feature's still around, but whatever).
you miss the memories but trust me you dont miss the beta days. I found my old beta 1.4 version like 8 years ago and played it... it was so boring at the time. Can only imagine how boring old MC is now.
I'm currently 19, but the first time I played Minecraft was on my grandparents' PC in 2011-12. It was extremely slow and overall awful, but I played it for months until it was released on Xbox 360. I would play it on my dad's Xbox 360 for years. The Pre-hunger bar times were the best, IMO, as the music, atmosphere, and lighting made for a creepy experience you just don't get nowadays. For a 6-9 year old who had a very unstable family situation, Minecraft was the one thing I could always rely on. This video unlocked many core memories.
Idk how many times I was just called a Minecraft veteran. What I do know is that old Minecraft was and is just so magical. As improved and expanded as the new game is, there’s something about the simple bright Minecraft of the past the feels right
Yeah that's very true. Minecraft isn't the same any more, the only ways you can have fun with it is either modding it to the max or stripping everything away and playing something like 1.6
10:29 This is something I wish they still had. The mobs had a chance to spawn if your bed was not in a lit/enclosed area. It made it more of a priority to have shelter on the first nights instead of just finding a sheep and being completely safe at night.
I remember when I'd play mc with my 3 siblings on a tiny tv in split screen and we'd all dare each other to sleep in the one house in the og tutorial that wasn't lit right so mobs would constantly spawn.
This was mostly an "oh yeah, I remember that!" moments and it made me realise I'm not 8 anymore, I'm 19 next month and still play. My love for minecraft goes way back to 2011, thanks for the memories Notch.
Hello mate! I have similar thoughts, but i'm turning 17 in a couple of months, not so big difference. Maybe, wanna play sometime? Remember old days, have a little chat while messing around in a nostalgic Minecraft world. I even have my own 1.4_10 Beta server file, on which we used to play with friends couple of years ago (now abandoned).
I have a Wii U and still have access to many missed features like blocking with your sword, finding blacksmiths, customizing flat worlds (might still be on java), notch’s temple, and OP sticks
I didn’t even know a lot of these were changed because I still play a lot of old versions. For example. The removal of blacksmiths and the fact that you can place double chests next to each other.
I think you forgot one thing, the spawn when you die is cursed, you will usually spawn at the sky. I remember playing with my cousins, and I died by mobs, and when I respawned I respawn at the sky, so I was stuck in a loop, and I got my cousins build me a platform and stairs where I can survive and go down safely. Man, even these bad memories makes me nostalgic.
I remember the weird dancing Steves and when zombies dropped feathers. The reason they use to drop feathers is because at that time chickens were not added in and they needed feathers for arrows
This is just a tsunami of nostalgia. Brings back so many memories. I remember when I was 8 playing minecraft for the first time and now here I am 19 years old. It's crazy how time starts to fly when you get into highschool.
Buckle up bro it does truly only get faster, enjoy the memories you’re making now, date the girl(or girls) you’re scared to ask out, try a new hobby or sport and see what makes you happy. Dont let work or school stress you out too much but give it your best shot of course
I come from 1.5.2 and one thing I miss the absolute MOST is when hostile mobs would try to attack you in Creative mode, but only if you hit them. Spawning hundreds of zombies or pigmen then hitting just one was one of my favorite pastimes XD And still to this day I try to type "toggle downfall" to make it rain. I also remember when you could destroy blocks with a sword in Creative mode
Man 1.5.2 was the version I most played, game was so different back then, it was wild. One of the things I miss most and still try to do nowadays is blocking with a sword 😂
@@judahky I still try to do things you can't do anymore in today Minecraft, but I only ever had 1.5.2 and our computer died for a few years, so I missed out on the plethora of updates until last year when I got my own PC. It was a trip going from 1.5.2 knowledge to...I think it was 1.18? Whatever it was when I came back to it XD I'm glad Mojang lets us play all versions of Minecraft ever released, I can't imagine not having fun in good old 1.5.2 anymore XD
Oh god, I remember I used to dig holes with TNT to bedrock, then spawning tens of hundreds of pigmen before hitting one of them to have them all chase me and fall to their death in that enormous crater. I created. Good times.
Minecraft is the first game I ever owned myself. Technically not the first I ever played but my first console was the 360, and my first game on the 360 was Minecraft in 2011. And this video just sent me on an intense nostalgia trip
Aging like fine wine. To be honest. I love nowa days MC with those features and addons but I have much deeper roots all the way down to Alpha. Nothing beats the Alpha nostalgia.
its plot is relatively timeless, and due to the large number of mods and customization, i think it will take a very, VERY long time for it to start to fade, if it ever does to me, it seems like the only way the game could start to fade out is if shooting games take over and people lose creative abilities, in which case we will have real world problems to deal with as well
Some of these are really old, but some others are like "do you remember when the minecraft world only went down to level 0 instead of -64?". That was changed a few months ago.
@@UnrealOG137 I think what Deactivate meant by the blacksmith one was the original blacksmith, though they look pretty much the same now, there was something so exciting about the old ones :)

Right-clicking with a sword was something that had been recognized internationally for peace. It didn't matter who was behind it, whether it was light, dark, old, young, male or female.
Omg I miss those days shifting just doesn’t hit the same Minecraft was my entire childhood to the point where when I get sad or stressed about adult life I come back to old Minecraft you tubers and watch then with no shame
I remember 99% of all of this, the amount of nostalgia I got whilst watching this 😭 I just remembered my oldest worlds and watching them grow I remember when wheat was first added, I harvested it too early since I didn’t know what it was supposed to look like The nether reactors and the limited worlds, the blue roses in PE, when villagers first came, the rarity of the sugar cane, the fear of the mobs being so great you almost never left your little house Damn, it made my childhood very happy
you guys remember when the largest world sizes were like 64x64 and there was also a version where there were only cobble stone caves and a layer of like grass on top XD.
@@jacksonsherbertgaming4437 omg yes! I remember running around the entire world looking for sugarcanes cus I used the ones I found on sugar immediately!
I remember on Legacy Console Edition that in at least one point in the game, when certain mobs died, they would make their hurt sound effect in addition to their death sound. Also, I remember watching this channel since I was going on 11 (back in 2016). I still check it out on occasion to this very day. It brings back many memories.
Damn. I was 7 when I started playing Minecraft, I’m now in my teens. But damn, THE OLD VILLAGE WAS NOSTALGIC MAN. I remember when all of my friends built their bases in the “church tower”. Where has the time gone?
The church tower was my favorite to hunker down in sometimes, especially considering the villager who lived inside always managed to climb the ladder and make it on top of the lookout lol
I didn’t play minecraft, but I watched minecraft videos bc I didn’t have minecraft yet I remember all of these happening to minecraft TH-camrs at the time
I remember when villagers were silent, couldn't open doors, couldn't trade, and only wore brown robes. I also loved it when the survival music continued to play no matter what gamemode you were in, if you paused it, or if you were on the title screen.
35:40 I don’t remember when, but I remember playing Minecraft on my phone a while ago. It was a very old phone I think iphone 6 or a very old homtom. I had my own world and built a spruce square house with an underwater glass room in a village. I can’t get that sound of the water out my head.
Man, I still vividly remember discovering the update with the different plank types and how angry i was that mojang was adding pointless features. Flash forward to 2022, where we have blue trees and like 10 different types of stone
Minecraft has different types of players. Even back then. The planks are a fan favorite for Builder players. So much so that there r entire threads dedicated to asking the devs for vertical slabs
Oh boy, the blacksmith was a HUGE nostalgia bomb. I started playing when I was about 5, (around 2012 or 2013) and I forgot about a lot of these features.
I've only been playing since 2014 and I still remember some of these. Blocking with your sword, no dying collars, villager lampposts, orange wool in pyramids, herobrine, and the temple of Notch.
Yeah same here though I was only able to play at our local computer shops since we weren't quite rich to buy a new PC😅😅😅 I had a lot a memories both good and bad but i still remain nostalgic about my childhood days playing minecraft.
I remember a lot of this from playing Minecraft when it first came out on xbox360. one funny thing i remember is one of my friends got a lot of pet dogs. I think like 30 of them. After that no other friendly mobs would spawn anywhere else in the world. Maybe that still exists or maybe it was just an xbox thing. The xbox worlds weren't unlimited
All the legacy versions (360, PS3, and Xbox one and PS4 pre-bedrock had passive and hostile mob limits, would even display chat messages along the line of “mob limit reached” if you tried to spawn more with eggs.
I remember playing with my sister and she had a small house and base on top of a huge mountain .The terrain in this video reminded me of how crazy the worlds were back then.
@@justarandomperson428 but it’s the memories of the old worlds and the great time that I had when I was younger on Minecraft that make it really special for me.

Yeah same here, I may have only got the game in 2017, but I used to watch TH-camrs like Dantdm's old videos before I discovered his new ones. When I watched those and the other ones, I learned so much about old Minecraft. So I know more than the average newer mc player.

Do you guys remember the Nether core reactor? Or when sleeping restored health? Or when there was no such thing as a hunger bar? Then you qualify for a veteran’s discount.
Omg so I wasn’t losing it! I could of sworn on PE there used to be no hunger bars, because I remember being really excited every time I came across any animal. (Which didn’t happen too frequently)
Real ones remember how "nyan" was a seed in Pocket Edition that generated a world that had lava, which would proceed to burn your entire world with invisible fire, on account of how both fire and lava weren't supposed to be implemented yet and didn't function properly. Me too!! I remember how excited my brothers and I were and how we just collected every type of flower we could. It was so fun discovering all the new types
The biggest things I remember is the old village with the smithing station, the beds always being red by default, and no recipe book. The most I played Minecraft was around 2012-2014. Today, I like to dye my bed red just because that’s how I remember them. And I also usually played on console, so even still I’m used to clicking and dragging items into a chest. Also who remembers the rare bug when the title screen said Minceraft? I still call the game Minceraft sometimes lol
yeah I get mad nostalgia when I see a red bed, I think they only naturally generate in savanna villages. and yesss minceraft oml but I don’t think it was a bug, just a rare title screen.
As a veteran MCPE player, I remember the Nether Block that made the towers that spawned in waves of pigmen. If you were quick enough, you could mine up some red obsidan. Also, RIP to the cyan flower & OG fish texture D: Never not a day that goes by where I don't miss the unique flower. Thank you for such a nostalgic video, feels good seeing the older MC content again.
I remember in MCPE when you would click items in chests to grab one at a time, (instead of just holding like you do now) and that if you were more than one player, you could duplicate items by clicking fast at the same time
My son (age 11) just asked me how long I've been playing Minecraft & I said "Since before you were born..." He was shook. He knew I taught him how to play when he was 3 but he had no idea how old the game is. I did take a few years off & was shocked at the changes. I'm loving the game but I wish it was the old limited map.
For the 25th anniversary they should add some nostalgic features. The rose, the old death sound, x Ray texture pack, super secret settings. Maybe even a nostalgic sounds setting
It would be even better if they gave everyone an editions button that can take you to early versions of Minecraft (like the current but rare editions button on bedrock that takes you back to the aquatic update)
oh yeah the inability to sprint and the gradual darkness in the evening really made this almost a horror game :DD I really miss the scariness. And I dont even like horror games in general, but minecraft was the original scary survival game. limited healing, cave sounds... but also the pure relaxation during the day with chill music, was something else. The game had such a great atmosphere.
I remember when the creative Inventory were changed. I was so mad about it, i remember that spawn eggs was almost at the end of the list. And i was so surprised and excited upon seeing blazes for the first time, it was my most beloved spawn egg
Last time I played Minecraft, it was 2017. I just started getting back into it and man… I still play Minecraft like it’s 2013. It’s actually pretty crazy to think that every thing this guy is talking about in this game just seems normal for me, it’s like this is how Minecraft just is. Weird stuff…

"if you remember blacksmith structures, your a veteran" well then, I guess everyone is a veteran then. They still exist, and the plains village blacksmiths even still look the same
I will never forgive them for removing the tutorial worlds, it was extremely useful when I first started playing and then teaching my younger brothers. We used to have so much fun on all the different worlds.
I remember being annoyed when they replaced the gravel paths in villages with grass paths because i could no longer place a torch on the path itself since it wasn’t a full block
Also, this video makes me realize just how long i’ve been playing minecraft, at the very least before the end and the enderdragon was a thing, and the fact that i have still yet to defeat it in survival mode without cheats
I remember never being able to find a plains village. Only saw them in the desert. The only one I did it had water in it kinda flooding it and burned it down and said I was a witch. Kinda regretted it because that so far is still the only one I have ever seen in that edition.
Minecraft Lite was strangely uncanny and unnerving. It was so much more quiet than the 360 version I played. This makes me remember a time where I tricked my cousin into thinking I had a haunted world. With things that didn’t even exist, like a ‘Diamond Wither’.
I remember one day searching for the blacksmiths and not finding it, i searched 20 different villages and still didn't realise for ages that they were removed
I remember being really impressed when they added mutton as a sheep drop. To this day it’s still my favorite food in the game. I was playing on the old “pocket edition lite” version when I first started. That was an interesting way to play. It was so creepy.
I remember pocket edition lite I used to play it on my dads phone in the car and then I got it on my iPad mini I got for my birthday and that started my time with minecraft
Man, I remember everyone losing their minds when The End was added. I remember people talking about it. Or the lies we all believed . . . like the Aether Dimension and the Herobrine spawner Being killed by a skeleton or zombie when you were just trying to sleep was such a pain in the ass, same with being dragged under the water while you drowned The old worlds were also really tiny, so as each update came out the world got bigger, but it would leave big janky looking cuts and holes all over the place lol

The thing is, I may not have owned the game myself during some of these, but I definitely remember the majority of them since Minecraft was the only thing I ever watched when I was younger
Yeah same here, I may have only got the game in 2017, but I used to watch TH-camrs like Dantdm's old videos before I discovered his new ones. When I watched those and the other ones, I learned so much about old Minecraft. So I know more than the average newer mc player.
personally i had a pirated minecraft back in like 2014/2015 bc my parents didnt want to buy me a minecraft account so my dad got me mineshafter so i played 1.8 back then
Do you guys remember the Nether core reactor? Or when sleeping restored health? Or when there was no such thing as a hunger bar? Then you qualify for a veteran’s discount.
Omg so I wasn’t losing it! I could of sworn on PE there used to be no hunger bars, because I remember being really excited every time I came across any animal. (Which didn’t happen too frequently)
I miss nether reactors. Those were my favorite part of the game.
god i miss everything in beta, even the nether reactors (which i managed to hack in bedrock)
4 gold blocks and 13 cobble
That’s what it’s called YEYEYEYSS
Real ones remember how "nyan" was a seed in Pocket Edition that generated a world that had lava, which would proceed to burn your entire world with invisible fire, on account of how both fire and lava weren't supposed to be implemented yet and didn't function properly. Scared the shit outta young me. Thought the sun went evil. Good times.
Remember when the zombie villager didn’t have it’s own spawn egg so you just had to spawn a bunch of zombies and get lucky?
Man I remember that. I had a fascination at one point with them and tried to spawn them for some reason.
Oh Yeaaaaaaah
unfortunatelly yes
yea
Remember when zombie villagers didnt exist
Man, time sure has flew. I remember being 4-5 years old when my parents just bought Minecraft for the PS3. Now I’m a freshman who haven’t realized how fast time flew. When times were simple
Basically the exact same things happened with me but instead of having Minecraft on the PS3 I would play on my iPod touch.
Bro I feel you me and the boys would play girl hours on edge
@@hiimty4986 I had Minecraft PE on my mothers phone, I was so sad when they removed the Steve damage sound effects…
@@ThatDevExotic I still have my ps3 from when I was about 6 or 7. I play it sometimes just to remember the good times I had before everything went wrong lol. Sophomore now, dropped out as a freshman due to mental health reasons. I've still got my ps vita as well if you remember those lol. Sadly it doesn't work and I need to get it fixed
@@vesper1538 I was about to mention the PS Vita, I still have mine but the battery is basically useless. I have accidentally reset all of my worlds while downgrading the version sadly… that thing was apart of my childhood.
I remember when the update that added all the other flowers was released, I literally spent a good 20 minutes just jumping through the wilderness and picking flowers. I was SO HYPED for it lmao
Me too!! I remember how excited my brothers and I were and how we just collected every type of flower we could. It was so fun discovering all the new types
I know right! I was amazed that there were finally more flower types. And the new 2 block tall flowers too
I spent about 500 hours doing that. 😁
I never knew the one block water death was removed and have still been avoiding shallow water. My life has been changed forever
2:37 Why was it so much fun destroying those crops xD
I'm not a griefer guys! I promise!!
I enjoyed grieving your base DerpyWhale! :)
oh my
You're not a griefer? Mmhmm sure
@@BigGIsCool I promise im not! :)
it wasn’t satisfying to me lol
The biggest things I remember is the old village with the smithing station, the beds always being red by default, and no recipe book. The most I played Minecraft was around 2012-2014.
Today, I like to dye my bed red just because that’s how I remember them. And I also usually played on console, so even still I’m used to clicking and dragging items into a chest.
Also who remembers the rare bug when the title screen said Minceraft? I still call the game Minceraft sometimes lol
I do the exact same thing with beds still
yeah I get mad nostalgia when I see a red bed, I think they only naturally generate in savanna villages. and yesss minceraft oml but I don’t think it was a bug, just a rare title screen.
Minceraft is an intentional easter egg
Right? I was so amazed with different colors of bed, but still can't see other than the unique red bed as authentic
The nether reactor core
The OG fish texture is on the fisherman's clothes now!
my old worlds were littered with those nether spires LOL.
I remember in MCPE when you would click items in chests to grab one at a time, (instead of just holding like you do now) and that if you were more than one player, you could duplicate items by clicking fast at the same time
I remember never figuring out how to get the nether reactor cores to work as a kid
My son (age 11) just asked me how long I've been playing Minecraft & I said "Since before you were born..."
He was shook. He knew I taught him how to play when he was 3 but he had no idea how old the game is.
I did take a few years off & was shocked at the changes. I'm loving the game but I wish it was the old limited map.
I never played the game until about a year ago, my kids got ME into it lol
I'm just getting my 4yo into Minecraft. We're playing survival and he literally just griefs me.
For the 25th anniversary they should add some nostalgic features. The rose, the old death sound, x Ray texture pack, super secret settings. Maybe even a nostalgic sounds setting
Oooh that'd be so cool
I would simply die if they added that. It would be so magical!
It would be even better if they gave everyone an editions button that can take you to early versions of Minecraft (like the current but rare editions button on bedrock that takes you back to the aquatic update)
@@cjwuf that already exists in java
I think they already did that on xbox 360.
oh yeah the inability to sprint and the gradual darkness in the evening really made this almost a horror game :DD
I really miss the scariness.
You remember the slime can eat your house?
no fr, i was so obsessed of that egg
Last time I played Minecraft, it was 2017. I just started getting back into it and man… I still play Minecraft like it’s 2013. It’s actually pretty crazy to think that every thing this guy is talking about in this game just seems normal for me, it’s like this is how Minecraft just is.
Weird stuff…
It's funny how despite joining Minecraft late I am now considered a veteran.
I entered in early 2014
I think I started in 2013
@@SuperGion915 Yeah, I joined in 2012 and I was extremely young around that time lol, but 2012 to early 2015 is around the time of Minecraft veterans :D
2015-16 not sure

"if you remember blacksmith structures, your a veteran"
well then, I guess everyone is a veteran then. They still exist, and the plains village blacksmiths even still look the same
Yeah that's true well done for remembering that from MINCRAFT
They look similar, not the same. Not only the texture changes, but the structure itself is different
yeah, the structure is not perfect replica of the old version, now it uses a grindstone instead of two smooth stone slabs
The blacksmith structure have a triangle roof now
It’s a bit different but when you look closely you can see what’s different.
I will never forgive them for removing the tutorial worlds, it was extremely useful when I first started playing and then teaching my younger brothers. We used to have so much fun on all the different worlds.
as a player who joined during 1.16 i really wish they updated and readded them
POV: your just learning to farm wheat
TU11 slaps
I used to just play the tutorial for fun and revamp the castles
was i the only one who mainly played tutorials to find stampys house
Gave up on watching this video after first 15 times i've heard: if you know this, you're a veteran player
I still remember the lava texture, diamond building in creative, enchanted apple recipe. Also the gravel village pathway.
Same
I remember being annoyed when they replaced the gravel paths in villages with grass paths because i could no longer place a torch on the path itself since it wasn’t a full block
@@tnc7399 haha i remember only finding villages in the desert or floating over oceans or big bodies of water lmao
Only OG’s remember how scary Minecraft Lite was
Bro for NO REASON too, it was just so ominous and eerie
Minecraft Lite scared me so much, every time i went out of my base i was terrified and would run as fast as possible
Literally a horror game lol
Very uncanny
Minecraft Lite was strangely uncanny and unnerving. It was so much more quiet than the 360 version I played. This makes me remember a time where I tricked my cousin into thinking I had a haunted world. With things that didn’t even exist, like a ‘Diamond Wither’.
1:20 The nether was also mainly used to move around the world faster.
Nether reactors need to come back. Honestly best part of the game. Also loved it when sand and gravel would not fall.
I thought nether reactors were replaced by the beacon
I remember this on MCPE this feature was awesome the old school mineceaft was way more enjoyable fun!
@@tmoney1487 they were replaced by an actual dimension
i actually still have a world with a nether reactor core in my inventory
wasn’t that just a mobile feature?
I remember one day searching for the blacksmiths and not finding it, i searched 20 different villages and still didn't realise for ages that they were removed
Wait wait wait, are you talking about the recent updates!?!?! No way they were removed!!?!??!
They exist in a couple of village types I think, they still exist but they look different of course
@@mrimdumb4537 I don’t think they have been removed cuz I found one the other day?
@@willowinnit1169 oh... i must be unlucky or ingonrant then
@@mrimdumb4537 oh aha
I remember being really impressed when they added mutton as a sheep drop. To this day it’s still my favorite food in the game.
I was playing on the old “pocket edition lite” version when I first started. That was an interesting way to play. It was so creepy.
Same, I started on pocket edition on my mom’s iPhone
I remember pocket edition lite I used to play it on my dads phone in the car and then I got it on my iPad mini I got for my birthday and that started my time with minecraft
Bruv I am fucking surprised they removed the blacksmith structure
Personally, i prefer chicken
It wasn’t removed lol, all buildings got changed to look nicer
5:20 the leaving and the music keep playing sent me back... ive never felt nostalgia like that before
Man, I remember everyone losing their minds when The End was added. I remember people talking about it.
Or the lies we all believed . . . like the Aether Dimension and the Herobrine spawner
Being killed by a skeleton or zombie when you were just trying to sleep was such a pain in the ass, same with being dragged under the water while you drowned
The old worlds were also really tiny, so as each update came out the world got bigger, but it would leave big janky looking cuts and holes all over the place
lol

Remember when infinite and flat worlds were added🤯
@@cynthia1731
Man . . . I made so many flat worlds 😂
XD
Yeah, I remember when you hadn't explored all of a world and the seed changed through an update, so new areas would just have massive flat cliffs.
