Okay here we go. There is a Dragon from Helgen bringing dead Dragons back to life. In the mean time he can not be killed only the undead Dragons. If a Dragon mould is flat then he is still buried, if there is a crater then he is flying arround somewhere. Only certain Cities have coaches who travel to all the other Cities. Your nearest one from Riverwood is Whiterun. Shown by a horse shoe which is for the stables. The shack in the Morthal marshes is part of the DB quest line. You will have to swim from the marshes to Solitudes docks. Using the compass at the top of the screen tells you the direction to go, it is shown by an arrow. Proving you have the mission activated. Phew❤
With every three whacks with a pickaxe, you'll get a piece of ore. Ore veins contain three pieces of ore, so you'll empty one in 9 whacks. Ore veins will respawn after a number of days (usually 30).
I am not sure you should do the thalmor embassy yet…it is rather hard. Perhaps you should work on other things to help you increase your skills…especially sneaking, and archery….as it will be very helpful in getting through that part of the main quest…I would suggest that you do some wandering around, discovering new places and fighting lower level bandits, etc… take your time with the main quest,,, it’s not going anywhere ☺️….
Skyrim is one of my favorite games. I finally got a laptop built for games and modded Skyrim. Not too crazy though because I don't want to over saturate my game. I beaten Skyrim multiple times so I don't care about the story that much any more. It's a fun game. Once you master the game you will be able to do different types of builds. I would explore dungeons to fight enemies so you get your skills that you use to fight enemies up. Markarth down a road there's a mine that has gold ore, but Foresworn occupy it though. Foresworn is a tough group to fight, but gold ore you can smelt into gold bars which is a good way to get your smithing levels up. Transmute spell transforms iron ore into silver ore, silver ore into gold ore, so you can go find transmute book. Most importantly have fun playing the game.
When you put your wepon away and the camera zooms right up behind your character, you can press and hold the right stick and move up or down on the left one to move the camera closer or further away from your character. It might help you see more when you are running around out of combat. I play in 3rd person too, and I tend to keep it zoomed out a little. The camera will also stay where you leave it until you chainge it or, for some reason, if you start fishing with a rod in 3rd person mode. Swapping to 1st person before fishing will let you keep your camera distance, I don't know why.
Good to see your still playing Skyrim ...It`s a great game...

I appreciate when you go off the beaten path.
Going off the beaten path is a Skyrim tradition. Much fun to be had that way.

Cool! Yeah I think I’ll explore some more to level up!

OoooOoOooooh….cool! Thanks for the tip!
Some mines are just mines. You can go mine and either sell or keep the ore for smithing.
