Nice review! Sadly, American Honda kinda butchered the Supercub. And only one color for 2023. The good news is, all these can be fixed with aftermarket (or even original parts from a different market) but it will cost several hundred extra.

Don't like scooters, the left brake lever drives me nuts. I owned a 2014 Grom and I'm going to buy a new 2024 soon. Bought a Navi then got my motorcycle license so i could ride legally. So much fun. Just picked up a Trail 125 but waiting for things to warm up (and salt wash off the roads) to get a feel for it.
Hey curious about buying a bike…never have before. What other costs are added to the bike value besides taxes basically out the door price? Negotiable at all? They delivered to you since you didnt have your license yet at the time?
Had a Monkey for almost 2 years. Great little bike, but left me wanting more. For me, these are great as your secondary bike, but much too limited for me as my primary ride.
Lately I've been really thinking about getting a small bike, and I love the look of these Hondas. Especially The Trail and The Monkey. Something small and cheap like this would be perfect for me to get around from Spring-Autumn...would be a hell of a lot cheaper than dumping money into my Mini Cooper I want to sell (car market still sucks, and I'm poor). I'm honestly afraid though, as I lost my friend at age 26 in a moto accident. I know something smaller like this wouldn't be intense. I've been into road cycling for a while and going downhill you hit speeds up to 40-50mph, it would probably be safer than that honestly....It's just I feel if my friend got in an accident then I probably will at some point. He was going WAY too fast and it happened around a bend in the road, so there's ways he could have prevented it. But growing up he was that friend who basically taught me everything, including how to ride his dirt bikes.
Just get in a old car.. no use in biking if ur from the uk, bad roads too many leaves on the roads.. also bad weather will have u wishing u had a roof in months...
I just bought a new Yamaha Zuma 125. I'd love to see a one city block drag race of a Zuma 125 against all those mini motos. Yamaha's Blue Core engine has pretty good torque. Plus no shift scooter cvt transmission is easy to work on.
@@paulp.8294 The Zuma is a very enjoyable fun bike. The Monkey is a life time keepsake that brings me right back to my childhood. Its literally apples and oranges. Thank you for doing this. My last ST1300 and , a VFR, and i saw the new Super Cub so cute. the Trail, i like it but, i would like to see your conversation about , the next couple steps up in size? Also it seems too bad, in the USA we can not get the CB400F,, so in that kind of range i would wonder what you would compare for the USA. Thank you again,, i enjoyed your video and this comparison
YEs thank you,, that is what i want to hear more about that kind of middle size. i have to say at one time i had BSA 441 victor and i HATED THAT BIKE , it gave me a VERY BAD ATTITUDE About once cylinder. Anyone watching this. Get the Cub. Same as the Grom, but it has a lot more curb appeal. People will be turning their heads to look at you on it, and it's a fun conversation starter.
Picked up a Navi , unfortunately got marked up by the dealer but i wanted it so bad. I always have a smile on my face when i hop on the navi, its a fantastic little bike and around my area its so fun skipping all the traffic when i simply want to go out and grab something small, or multiple items, because the storage compartment is SURPRISINGLY large. i fuel it with nothing but premium and it gives me plenty of mileage for an easy 2.50$ every fuel up fantastic little bike, if you can get one without being overpriced? go for it! Youll have so much fun
My dealer wants $3069 out the door for the Navi. all said then done . I really like them for what I need it for but having hard time pulling the trigger on that mark up
@@kinglumpy6145 really? when i read the manual it said not to put anything below a certain fuel # (idk the name of it , octane? no idea ) and the only one which had the right number is premium fuel 🤔 Also it keeps the machine spirit happy :)
I don't know if anybody mentioned but he failed to tell us about the 8 speed. Do arrange transmission on that trail one twenty five. I'm sure honda still Includes the low high transmission shifter.
as well made as these bikes are. I mean its hard to beat Honda in quality, but i wonder why they limit the production colors? Heck even m,y cheep Chinese TrailMaster had three colors to choose from.
whoa, easy there with the "most usable at high speed one" take. Super cub takes that title all day. Mine does 62pmh on a flat ground, I easily ride on 55mph highways (not interstates). aftermarket kickstands, long seats and foot pegs are available.
We have a honda pop in here. It's a 110cc bike with a 4 speed gearbox instead of a cvt. It's not exactly my cup of tea in terms of design but for a first bike its not that bad, also the cheapest. Looks like a modern trail on a diet.
I prefer the Hondas, more refined engine and lower, more usable power. I don't like having to wring my TNT out all the time. And my butt gets annoyed by the vibrations.
@@DailyMotor the handle bar vibration gets a little rough on the hands. I never rode a grom for comparison. I was pretty much against the grom and z125 when I was looking. They were both a little too small. When I was a kid I wanted the original 50cc monkey bike so bad
Grom plan to launch in india got shelved..later honda activa scooter was modified as honda navi.navi meaning new in marathi regional language..still it didnt sell..
None of these where officially marketed by Honda in my country Philippines 🇵🇭 and most hondas we have came from Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Hondas were so popular in ASEAN.
Here’s my problem. I don’t see myself doing much trail or off road riding, however I live in a MASSIVE city, hypothetically the largest by landmass in the US, so a commute can be 20+ minutes upwards of 30 or 40 on a bad day. I need something that’s reliable but also able to be comfortable for daily use and keeping up with traffic. I’m between the super cub and the monkey
Go with the Cub ... Just cuz it's easier to see in a city ... safety issue 🤷 Best wishes and I'm sure you'll love either one! Just my two cents worth... plus carry more on the rack✌️👍
@@GratefulEd907 holy cow! That's spread out alright! Not to mention more frequent Moose encounters! Short answer, no, long answer, when hell freezes over. If you're lucky, and this is seriously only in the last 2-3 months, you might be able to catch a shipment of 4 or so navis to a local dealer. They'll be out the door within next 2 months, typically. But any of these other bikes, good luck. The grom's you can find used fairly easily, but they hold their value insanely well. The trail 125s are practically reserved for press only, and I've never seen a monkey, in person, ever. I would guess they take 3+ years of being on a waitlist to get one.
Yes, that's exactly what I use it for most days. The storage box takes my lunch box, with tons of room to spare. Plan to use it as a future mini adventure bike.
Something you have to keep in mind about these mini motos is that in America we look for high horsepower and things that zip around in a lot of other countries they're looking for something cheap that's reliable that just get you to and from work and get you around town with gas prices being 4 5 $10 a gallon some places getting 100 miles a gallon and driving these the work is a much better idea my 96 Bronco for example with a 351 Windsor get 8 Mi to the gallon performance parts are added it's not a pretty vehicle it's made for going off-road in the mountains got a 2010 Ford Focus gets 30 Mi to the gallon if I drive it like a normal person grom gets about 120 what vehicle do I drive to work I recently rolled over 10,000 miles in my Grom a 2015 I've done a little tweet stupid beefed it up a little bit in 2022 I picked up another one didn't sell my other one that one's I'm I'm going to put a 300 I picked up a cbr300 that's somebody wrecked that runs fine it just stalled then tub picked it up for 600 bucks they are awesome for a daily commuter and racing from stoplight to stoplight without going to jail having a blast they're just nice bikes
It depends on your intended use. The Grom is overall the best value I think. And you can always get knobby tires for mild off-roading if that's your thing. The Grom has an actual transmission which is a major benefit or disadvantage depending on your outlook.

Bought a Navi then got my motorcycle license so i could ride legally. So much fun. Just picked up a Trail 125 but waiting for things to warm up (and salt wash off the roads) to get a feel for it.
I wanted a trail 125 but everyone wanted 5 to 6.5k might as well buy a bigger bike at that point
Was the motorcycle license easy to get, I just got a Navi a couple days ago
Hey curious about buying a bike…never have before. What other costs are added to the bike value besides taxes basically out the door price? Negotiable at all? They delivered to you since you didnt have your license yet at the time?
@@SummerEaze I bought the Honda Navi for $2200. It is $1800 MSRP. They didn’t specify the fees. But probably destination or freight fees
@@dylanmoses1671 Nice. That’s not bad at all. You enjoying it?
Really appreciate learning the differences! I'd love a supercub, but here in Australia, way overpriced at almost 8 grand. Why?
Had a Monkey for almost 2 years. Great little bike, but left me wanting more. For me, these are great as your secondary bike, but much too limited for me as my primary ride.
Just put a larger motor in it
😂@@simonjack8122
Great video. They are all great little bikes. I can't decided which one to get.
For me, Grom or the now-available XR150L are best choices.
My super cup has a side stand again to 65 L box. That’s waterproof and locks and of course I had to add a rear rack to hold the box.
Loved your review- I just bought a Honda Navi and It’s my first motorcycle so for me it’s plenty fun.
Best comparison video out here. Very thorough
I want one of each ! But realistically I want the XR 150 first.
What a great video! Thank you and thanks to the dealer!
Thanks! And they're from Honda directly :)
I just bought a new Yamaha Zuma 125. I'd love to see a one city block drag race of a Zuma 125 against all those mini motos. Yamaha's Blue Core engine has pretty good torque. Plus no shift scooter cvt transmission is easy to work on.
I miss my Zuma. Such a practical fun bike. Sold it to purchase my Monkey.
@@robertyoung8289 Are you happy with the Monkey vs the Zuma?
@@paulp.8294 The Zuma is a very enjoyable fun bike. The Monkey is a life time keepsake that brings me right back to my childhood. Its literally apples and oranges. I've owned over 50 motorcycle's from Honda's to Harley's and nothing has put a bigger smile on my face than the Honda Monkey. Thanks for asking.
CRF300L should be considered. Very fun lower-powered bike
YEs thank you,, that is what i want to hear more about that kind of middle size. i have to say at one time i had BSA 441 victor and i HATED THAT BIKE , it gave me a VERY BAD ATTITUDE About once cylinder. I really think that CF400F looks good to me but hopeless in the USA , alas, but thank you for this reasonable suggestion@@DailyMotor
oops CB400F
the only problem with the $1807 price tag is all the other dealer fees that add another thousand dollars
Beautiful bunch of bikes...🤘🏼💯✔️
Anyone watching this. Get the Cub. Same as the Grom, but it has a lot more curb appeal. People will be turning their heads to look at you on it, and it's a fun conversation starter.
Picked up a Navi , unfortunately got marked up by the dealer but i wanted it so bad.
I always have a smile on my face when i hop on the navi, its a fantastic little bike and around my area its so fun skipping all the traffic when i simply want to go out and grab something small, or multiple items, because the storage compartment is SURPRISINGLY large.
i fuel it with nothing but premium and it gives me plenty of mileage for an easy 2.50$ every fuel up
fantastic little bike, if you can get one without being overpriced? go for it! Youll have so much fun
Nice, but don't waste your money putting premium in it.
@@kinglumpy6145why's that?
@@tehdiii because the owners manual doesnt call for it
My dealer wants $3069 out the door for the Navi. all said then done .
Good video 😊
But without the original Monkey, there Would be No Grom 😅
as well made as these bikes are. I mean its hard to beat Honda in quality, but i wonder why they limit the production colors? Heck even m,y cheep Chinese TrailMaster had three colors to choose from.
Honest to God...
That's the first MONKEY I've ever coveted!
I grew up on a 1973 Trail 70
whoa, easy there with the "most usable at high speed one" take. Super cub takes that title all day. Mine does 62pmh on a flat ground, I easily ride on 55mph highways (not interstates). aftermarket kickstands, long seats and foot pegs are available.
Nice 👍 Video Comparison,
which camera are you using Bro,
fantastic video and audio quality
Thanks! I believe this was with my GoPro Hero 11 and a Purple Panda mic plugged into a Zoom H2n
@@DailyMotor keep it up 👍 Bro 😎
Thanks for letting me know about your camera 📸
People always ask same naive question "which bike to buy?". The answer is really simple: "what kind of rider u are? Where do you go on your bike?"
We have a honda pop in here. It's a 110cc bike with a 4 speed gearbox instead of a cvt. It's not exactly my cup of tea in terms of design but for a first bike its not that bad, also the cheapest.
Looks like a modern trail on a diet.
I knew you were going to pick the Grom at the beginning of the video.
It is more like 3 grand out the door for a NAVI - not 2 grand at the dealership - after the HONDA MARK UP!!!
Been looking for the Grom in California. Most dealers don't have them and those that do charge $800 over msrp.
:(
My first bike was a 1965 cub 50. Topped out at 45 and took passengers. I have a tnt 135 now. How do you like yours compared to the honda minis?
Local dealer had $1000 markup on the Navi plus either fees. Ended up being $3500
1. Monkey, 2. CUB, 3. CT, 4. Groo, 5. last in raw deep pocket deal
Monkey
Go with the Cub ...
Just cuz it's easier to see in a city ... safety issue 🤷
Best wishes and I'm sure you'll love either one! Just my two cents worth... plus carry more on the rack✌️👍
Juneau Alaska is the largest by land mass. It’s twice as big at the state of Rhode Island.
@@GratefulEd907 holy cow! That's spread out alright!
Not to mention more frequent Moose encounters!
In that case the Monkey might be a better choice considering that safety issue for both rider and moose! Lock up the back brake.and slide right between the Moose's legs...hell if it's tall enough ( the Moose) you might just be able to duck!
🤷😎
@@jamescoleakaericunderwood2503 fortunately no moose in Juneau lots of black bears though. I lived there for 17 years before moving to the Anchorage area. Now I get moose in the yard almost daily. I think the trail would be best around here because there are trails everywhere next to the roads for bikes quads and side by sides. I love it here and got my daughter a CRF70 so I have a riding buddy.
The monkey is the mini moto enduro if you ask me.
I own the Super Cub and Monkey 🐒 Great bikes.
Thinking about getting one of these, I’m a student with no money and need to get to class. I need reliable transportation But I also live in Canada so I’m unsure…
Kymco Spade 150 is my pick for a mini.
My grom does 55 on flat road no wind. I had it upto 70 going downhill and wind pushing me. Im 190 lbs
Stock
I’ve had 76 on the speedo on a flat road on my grom sf. Granted the speedo was lying because it didn’t feel like 76 but it was definitely way over 60 because I was overtaking cars.
@@Sean_03_636 haha right on. When I was flying down that hill I didn’t wanna go any faster. Felt like it was pushing the build quality 😂 on a Honda!
Monkey was my favorite
You said you can plop down $2,000 and get yourself a Honda Navi but you forgot to mention the extra $1,500 for all the add-ons dealers charge.
Am I looking to walk out with the Monkey at like $7k?! 😮 A bit much..
@@SummerEaze I picked up a Monkey a few weeks ago, and it was $5900 out the door, but I live in Washington St, and we have higher taxes than some other states.

I want a Trail 125 but with the Monkey fat tires! I need a camp/koa vehicle. The Monkey is Street legal?
Yeah, but just find yourself a Yamaha TW200
@@DailyMotor Yes! I was blown away when I saw that! Definitely better!
you should try the honda rsx.
I want to see how the 6th honda XR125-L matches up in this lineup~!
Id say go DRZ400SM or if youre tiny go KLX300SM for youre first bike.
Yeah DRZ400SM was my first bike, loved it, so capable. More of a all-rounder, these are more of a toy by comparison but I love em for that.
Great - that clears up that decision
No Dax? Or it's not in the US?
How readily available are these in California? Cool vid thanks for doing it.
Saw a yellow Monkey today in LA 😩 fell in love again. I hope local dealerships will have plenty by the time I get one.
Which one is the most easily to handling for a newbie?
The super cub?
The Navi because it has no gears to shift is easiest to ride, but the super cub is also easy because there is no clutch.
Gen 3 grom is the best. I wish the trail 125 had a clutch. I would still have mine if it was a clutch. Navi is fun and CHEAP!
Thanks for sharing
Thinking of getting the Navi was wondering can my feet be flat on the ground while at a red light being 5’7
Yes
Been looking at grom video's but the monkey looks awesome 😅
Is the NAVI good for a daily drive to work?
Yes if you don't mind it being slow.
Same I live like 20 minutes away from work
Yes, that's exactly what I use it for most days. The storage box takes my lunch box, with tons of room to spare. Plan to use it as a future mini adventure bike.
awesome mini bikes, no honda dax?
Which one of these is the most light weight bike?
Whitch one has the lowest seat hight ? i need one of MAX 67cm because my wife is just 158cm with short legs.
So why didn't you try upping the gear ratio it has low gear and high gear in other words two sets of gears ...
The cub IS the OG.
I want a Navi and I want it just to run around on locally.
Which one is best for long trip bro😊
Monkey in my opinion due to the cushioned seat you get
Enjoyed, thanks
I am 5ft 4in height with 29inch inside leg. What would you recommend ?
It depends on your intended use. The Grom is overall the best value I think. And you can always get knobby tires for mild off-roading if that's your thing. The Grom has an actual transmission which is a major benefit or disadvantage depending on your outlook.
Get the Monkey, it’s more Fun-key!
Hi, thank you for your suggestion. I want use only for commute to work and bit leisure ride time permitting. Mainly on road. Gear shifting can do but makes me nervous specially coming to stops, hence want both feet flat on ground. How about monkey ? Or a scooter ?
@@ThePriority69 Based off your intended use, the navi would be the best for sure.
Thank you all for replies. I am going to book a test ride Navi. Many thanks
