This is the kinda stuff im super excited to see develop in games. Having a world of NPCs that actually interact and react instead of just giving scripted lines is going to be a massive change in how we play around in RPGs, even if this tech is still a bit new and janky seeing this video as a kind of peak into that future is really exciting.

The crazy thing is, this gives the feel of those cringey radiant dialogue from Oblivion (mostly because of how voiced AI sounds), but the conversations actually make sense.
I've tested this out and it's real! Seeing characters have personal conversations is something I've always imagined. This is some great work from all involved
now I am waiting for AI animation to take movement to the next level and make the action of the character more alive and realistic, as they will be able to respond to the world in real-time. especially in VR.
Give it time, and ai Skyrim will be indistinguishable from real life. ai animations will be awesome to see down the road, just slap on a photorealistic texture overhaul and you have the ultimate fantasy immersion
scared the shit out of me when the two inkeepers talk about strange noises coming from the hall of the dead. i live on top of one the largest nickel mines on the planet and ever day at 6pm they do blasting underground rumbling the entire house and making a huge explosion sound underground. right as she said there's been strange noises coming from the hall of the dead one of the largest blast and shakes that ive ever heard hit my house. for a second i thought hell was opening up.
Sudbury has almost 10 active mines within city limits, so there's constant noise coming from it's underground hallways. When the shaking happens on schedule, it tells you that development is going fine and there's nothing to worry about. If the shaking is not in line with regular blasting times, then the shaking is probably unintentional and a cause for some concern. Especially if you're underground at the time lol
of course its not perfect, the voices sounds a bit robotic and emotionless, you have to wait a bit for a response but is a small step for something bigger...and...oh my god THIS SHIT IS HAPPENING AND IM ALIVE, LIKE THOSE MOVIES, LIKE THOSE GAMES, AI NOW IS SELF AWARE AND CREATIVE. i think the new elders scrolls HAVE TO USE THIS for the NPCs (mandatory), if some modders can implement this then a whole studio can. i think i have replay skyrim. greetings from Panama art from the machine

I can’t wait for games that have npcs which respond to every action you take dynamically and for terrain to procedurally generate based on where you go or what you decide to do. The potential of this technology is limitless and it’s something that I would love to either be apart of or at the very least watch incredibly closely.
I think there are so many ways it can go next and there are lots of ideas floating around on the Discord! Now with NPC memories being shaped over time from talking with each other I'm interested to see what else can be done over longer playthroughs

Seeing the NPCs talk to each other is much more immersive. When players try to talk to the AI, the program runs itself as an awkward mandated reaction. You see every response starting with "Ah" or something of that nature as a reflection of stimuli. But when the AI talks to itself following the rules of its world and its own understanding of how it would react to itself, it writes a script. The audio is still catching up, but the words already prove to be interesting. Makes you feel kinda sad actually. When you play an RPG and the responses are the same in every playthrough, you trust that what you experience can always happen again. With this element of AI conversations, the person you draw from the AI over time will only ever exist the once. If you were to try and recreate the sequence all over again, the person you spoke to before might not be the same.
This dialogue is magnificent. I wonder if every character has a unique AI that generates responses, or there is one master AI that pre-plans the conversation & filters it through the characters?

Are there any talks from xVA Synth about unrobotizement of the voices? Is It possible with current tech? The mod seems great, but while It's about immersion, their voices kinda break It.
I've done some voice-line generation with AI, and these results are typical of what you get, out of the box. At this point, it takes a bit of editing to get pauses, emphasis, and pronunciation perfect. In a couple of instances, I just couldn't find any phonetic spelling that the AI could "read" correctly, so I had to choose a synonym or rephrase the entire sentence. (Even the word "Inigo" took a bit of work.) 😏 When it does work, though, the results can be amazing, and often quite funny. When and if AI can master natural pronunciation, game dialog will be amazing.
Someone was actually trying this, and we added a prompt in service of this goal into the bio of an NPC (Savos Aren, though it could've been anyone). Despite being a bit rough around the edges and in need of some refinement, it actually seemed to work decently well at a basic level. As LLMs continue to improve at a fast pace, satisfyingly achieving your goal seems likely.

Diffusion based TTS have the ability to near instantly clone voices from audio samples. Mixing them up can give close to infinite voice variety, Though you would need a separate GPU for that. The used xVASynth does not have insta-cloning. Also a TTS like XTTS has a American English bias which does not fit Skyrim.

None of characters do anything but respond. It doesn’t actually affect anything gameplay or plot wise.
not at this point, I dont know if the game engine allows it but perhaps in the future, the AI is also getting better and better and more aware.

Frankly, xVAsynth is one of the few TTS that can clone the unusual voice of Cicero. Others fail even worse with the likes of it.

too few voice actors too many repeat voices
Diffusion based TTS have the ability to near instantly clone voices from audio samples. Mixing them up can give close to infinite voice variety, Though you would need a separate GPU for that. The used xVASynth does not have insta-cloning. Also a TTS like XTTS has a American English bias which does not fit Skyrim.
@@Pendrokar Pinokio has a server share feature now. I'd rather not mix AI work with 3d rendering. I'd run it on another machine if it was barely acceptable but it's not.
Scripted, the reaction is too fast between npcs.
I have cut some of the longer gaps between responses because I only have access to my laptop at the moment, but for completely unedited footage see this video here:

The reason the reactions are as fast as they are is because as one sentence is being spoken, the next one is already being generated in the background and queued up. It helps to cut down response times since everything is generated on the fly rather than as a bulk process!
And if the first sentence is just a few words, and the next is many, then the gap will be bigger.
