When cliff was listing all the things he was good at, Rudeus thought cliff learned all that in school. But it actually took him his entire life. Rudy says “impressive, it took me 2 years to learn all that” which came off as snobbish in cliffs’ perspective
I hope it’s brief. It’s not that I have anything against it. Not at all. I just want him to overcome his ED and trauma from being scared of women. Cuz that is a very relatable thing to young men and not rly touched upon in stories. I hope that makes sense lol.
Zanoba deserves all the happiness in the world. Also, this got cutoff but Rudy did said that he met Gyes and Gustav in the Doldia Village when he got introduced. Minitona and Tersena are Linia's and Pursena's younger sisters. As you can see Linia and Pursena are like the school delinquent types so she decides to not bother Rudy because he knows her father. Sylphie can use chantless detox and healing magic, but in the duel what healed her was the advance magic seal they were standing on. That seal is made so that people can duel safely.
I'm wondering if they left the part that Rudy told them about meeting her father in the anime because they have a different way of dealing with the two girls. Just a thought.
@@MortalMercury as most characters in this series, he has his flaws, however he proves to be an amazing friend and mentor / father figure, he might be clumsy and a bit weird but I love his character.
This was explained early on in the books, but the reason Rudy can't do incantationless healing is that you need to have a good understanding of what you want the magic to physically do. He understands basic physics so mixing up elemental spells to make steam, mud, or changing the weather all makes sense to him but he never learned any medical science so if he tried to heal he would probably hurt them instead. Sylphy can do healing magic incantationless because she learned about medicine and healing magic from Zenith (a healing mage) after Rudy went to tutor Eris.
That makes me think, Sylphy can also do other elemental magic incantationless because Rudy tutored her and taught her basic physics? Can incantationless magic be used by anyone regardless of their age as long as they understand the principles behind it? But then why Zenith cannot?
@@SynxSP Now I might be completely wrong on this, but I think the "understanding of science", is as much of a crutch as it helps. If all magic relied on science, everyone would know. Rudy wouldn´t have that unique benefit. Yes, it helps him with elemental magic. And maybe he´d be really good at healing magic if he understood medicine. But the problem (I think) is that he BELIEVES he needs to understand medical science. He basically thinks that it´s too difficult for him, so he creates a mental block for himself.
@@SynxSP This is gonna have some minor spoilers. Not all that important but it will be brought up later on. ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' Normal elemental magic from known spells can be learned incantionless just by feeling the magic flow through your body and copying it like Rudy in the first episode which is likely how he taught Sylphy. Physics comes into play when you want to deviate from the normal spells. When he took Roxy's test, he made his storm a lot stronger by changing the temperature and pressure of the air to feed it. This is something he does for most of his magic and Sylphy can't do. Incantationless magic can be learned by anyone but just like how your mana level grows much faster when you're a kid, you have to learn it before you are 10 years old. Most 10-year-olds don't even know they have mana yet which is why nobody ever really figured it out.
The ability to do chantless magic has nothing to with having "a good understanding of what you want the magic to physically do". That's just Rudy's early hypothesis on why he can't do chantless healing magic, which was wrong. Being able to do magic without a chant is as simple as learning how to manipulate your Mana at an early age with only your will. Knowledge of physics has absolutely nothing to do with it- It merely lets you enhance your magic once you can modify it, but it would not have let Rudy cast any chantless magic if he never figured out how to it himself. The reason Rudy can't do chantless healing magic it is simply because he can't perceive (and thus control) his Mana once it enters a living being's body. Sylphie can, that's why she can do it. This is stated in the Academy arc. If learning about medicine was all that's needed to do chantless healing magic, Rudy would have long since done so.
Something I'll always appreciate from these two above their incredible media literacy is how well they understand the characters, knowing immediately how triggering that experience was for Rudy 10:39 is super appreciated.
18:00 about this point there was an explanation, but it got skipped unfortunately. What happens is that people usually live in the dormitory in pairs, and it’s the senior’s obligation to tell the rules for their new student pair. Unfortunately though, Rudeus being a special student gets to have a room for his own, so he has no pair to explain him the rules, and it was still his first day so he didn’t get time to learn these rules by other means.
I think what makes the "school" setting here so much more refreshing and interesting as well is the "special student" status granted to most of the cast members we see in this arc (besides Ariel, Luke, Sylphie and Elinalise) because it means we won't have to bother with the usual school tropes and don't have to see them attend boring normal classes. They are basically all free to do and research what they want which means we can cut out all the unnecessary fat that is present in ever other (magic) school arc in every other Anime. It also helps to signify that everything the characters do in the school has more meaning since they only do and research stuff that personally interests them so their actions directly represent their characters since they don't have to follow some standard and stale school curriculum that everyone has to go through.
Oh my god, their discussion about the curses and disturb magic that specifically brought up in this episode for the first time in this season, and THEN connecting it to the very first time it was brought up in the episode 21 of the first season, was truly a galaxy brain moment for me personally. It didn't even cross my mind to connect them narratively. This truly is the best channel for reaction and discussion. I just can't get enough of it.

@@johnk.327true. I mean the higher tier magic are not really stronger per say but actually just has a larger area of effect. Rudeus's nuke on Orsted back on the turning point episode was already on par with Laplace.
@@madscientist14 (Somewhat spoiler ahead) Yes, that all sounds right as far as I am aware. However, as we will see both soon and later on the powers that Rudy has shown thus far in the anime do not appropriately convey his true power. Additionally, we also will see later in this season of the anime that Rudy has the ability to cast even lower teirs spells at a higher power point (as seen in book 12). Narratively, and confirmed a bit by the prior few episodes with counter arrow and Soldat, Rudy holds his punches. I am looking forward to that moment you mentioned, I am curious if we will get that this season. I am betting on it being saved for the third season but we shall see!
I think another thing to consider, especially given Sylphy's personality is that when Rudy said "I'm looking for one of my friends who's still missing", she could have assumed he meant someone from when he was living in Roa. Rudy was pretty young when he left and it wouldn't be out of the question for a normal child that age to mostly forget about their hometown friend. Even before the teleportation incident Rudy spent more time in Roa than he did with Sylphy and they were never able to communicate. I think from her perspective it would be really rough if she revealed herself and it turned out he was searching for someone else. We also get another misunderstanding this episode where Cliff bringing up Eris makes Rudy think they've interacted recently rather than way back during the OVA. Just a lot of misunderstandings going on everywhere it seems.
Between Cliff & Zanoba for best boy status...I have to give it to Cliff. Don't get me wrong, I love Zanoba. But Cliff is the type of guy I'd be best friends with in real life.
I love their reactions, but I love their discussions. Watching them piece together possible future plots and people. Sometimes they're so far away and sometimes, they're right on the nose, but either way, I love their take on everything.
It’s funny how you mention that it would’ve made sense for Rudeus to mention he went to their village when they got introduced, because in the novel he actually did it.
Posted this in other videos. If you have the time give it a read. A lot of things not shown here but I think it was important that it should be stated. 1) Rudy held back a lot in his duel. He doesn't want to stand out too much as that would make him alienated. The walls in that arena is magic resistant, and there's 2 notable circles they are standing on. One circle heals from even fatal wounds, it's so no student would die by accident (wouldn't work on very fatal wounds like a missing head). Second is there's a barrier to protect the audience. Rudy fired very small rocks but it still broke through the barrier and smashed against the wall, he was also aiming for her cheek so he wouldn't cause any serious injury. This is a shocker to everyone because it was effortless. Later it's stated Rudy's normal rocks is Emperor class magic. 2) The Principal gives a speech in the beginning. No clue why it was skipped. But he was making it clear, if it already wasn't, that Swordsman that learned their techniques from the "gods" surpass mages completely in combat. This is true, because a Mid class Swordsman beats a high class mage. A novice Swordsman beats a most mages. There's a stuck up personality with swordsman looking down on mages in all societies. But he states swords are meant for combat where magic is meant for everything. 3) Rudy froze up a lot, throughout this series. But especially when the girls were attacking him. He was absolutely terrified of being dragged off like he was in school and stripped naked and posted against a wall. His knees were shaking and everything. He was immovable because he cast magic to wrap his feet in the dirt so he can't be dragged off. He absolutely didn't know what to do, attacking them didn't even cross his mind. However 'Fitz' thought Rudy would outright kill them all that's why she jumped in. 4) Keep in mind Fitz identity was suppose to be a secret. Meaning even novel readers were never told till Rudy was. So for a long time no one directly knew who Fitz was, including readers. There was very small hints that you can pick up on sure, but nothing was ever shown. They revealed who she was here but keep in mind Rudy never saw her for nearly a decade. I've had childhood female friends that look nothing like they did as a child so it's very real that you wouldn't notice someone who's hair, attire, and body changed over many many years. No one that she's with saw her with green hair, and Rudy never saw her with white hair. I'm only stating this because I've seen people say "don't you recognize her!?" When they don't think there's no photos, cameras, nothing. Just 10 years ago she was a little girl he thought was a boy, now it's older dressed like a guard hiding her face with white hair...Also those glasses. Those glasses are magic and make her look like a boy. 5) A lot of interactions were changed. Sylphy saw Rudy with Elinalise, she was all on him rubbing him all over before their duel. This broke her heart and pushed her to not reveal who she was. Elinalise did this in front of the Principal as well. Keep in mind this school has people who are 10 years old or 50 or 500. Many races and all walks of life. So this kind of thing does happen, so many just assumed. Lastly Cliff. That convo happened a lot longer. Rudy asks Cliff when has he spoken with Eris, but Cliff responds saying he's shorter than what Eris expected. Rudy things she's talking about something else so it's a gut punch. Solidifying his thoughts she hated sex with him and left him because of it. Lastly Rudy says he hasn't seen Eris in two years since they split. So Cliff took that as they broke up and was happy he had a chance with her. Remember Eris seemed infatuated with Rudy (still is) but now they both believe she dumped him. Which fundamentally she did...since similar to Sylphy their reunion won't be what she was expecting.
yeah as someone who has been going through the light novels recently i honestly learnt more about the world and how its systems work in volume 1 ( in which rudeus only just leaves for the eris tutoring arc by the end ) of the LN than the entire anime so far which i guess goes to show how good the source material is but re-watching parts after reading said part in book there are numerous times i wonder why they changed something when it feels integral to characters and how they interact with people/the world. it also doesnt help that things we should already know from early on arnt explained that well or at all even so when they happen you dont get the impact of what that actually means and going off of what they have done so far i dont see them bringing said information up later as they have had multiple chances to do so and havnt yet. i can understand that an adaptation wont always be 1-1 but as much as i like this show watching with the source material in mind can kinda sour important moments/character interactions for me but i guess if you cant read books that well than the show is a second best kinda deal. im probably gonna get swarmed for this but it is starting to feel like SAO for me, when i started with the anime and liked it i then went and read ahead in the light novels and was just baffled by how much better the LN set up the systems and characters than the anime to the point that the anime is really only good for looking at GREAT visuals and SOUNDTRACKS, which is what mushoku tensei is slowly becoming as each episode releases which is ashame as mushoku tensei thrives on its magic/combat systems and world building which they keep skipping ( seemingly rushing ) through. i guess ignorance is bliss
@@The_PizzaManI think the issue is that the LN volumes get progressively more complex and dense as the story goes on (I could be wrong cause I watched season 1 before reading it so I'm a bit biased to it there). Since s1 covers vol. 1-6, Studio Bind probably thought they could do 7-12 in the same amount of time. Maybe it would've been better to only adapt half of it or something. But I don't think the show's quality has diminished as badly as you're saying. Vol. 7's adaptation felt rushed and lacking in budget, but with that over and seeing the quality of the school arc so far, I feel like the studio's getting into the groove more now. I'm able to be immersed far more than I was a few episodes ago, and that's coming from someone who did read the LN for these arcs before watching. I hope that quality continues and we're able to get closer to what the first season was. Reminder that before MT got popular, the studio had unlimited time to get the first season out. Now that the show has devoted fans who can only wait so long, they're on a timeline and so they'll have to cut corners more than before. It sucks, but going forward the quality will most likely average out into something between the gold standard (s1) and what we're currently getting.
While Saint class magic and further rank are just a long ass chants to make mana do something on a large area without so detailed information. But to make a rock super large, super hard, pointy bullet shaped, spinning so fast, launching at almost speed of sound would cost like one hell of mana. So imagine you have to chant to make one like that would takes forever it considered Emperor rank.
20:53 if you have only read the web novel or the manga once you reach the university arc you have no idea who cliff is or the fact that fitz and Sylphie are the same person, so it was so cool when I first realized (at the same time with rudeus) what was fitz's true identity (about cliff you never actually discover why he knows Eris, or at least not before volume 15 which is really really further away in the plot)
So it got skipped sadly but Sylphy saw Elinalise rubbed up all on Rudy when she walked in and that coinciding with 1. Her rep is already built up by Ariel as her mysterious bodyguard and 2. She's always been self conscious about her body as it was shown in season 1 so since she thought Rudy and Elina were a thing she compared her body to hers and it made her even sadder bc she thought Rudy had a type
The magic circles on the ground are auto healing spells for student safety. Explanation was omitted from the novels. Also rudeus quickly dealing with sylphie shows how powerful he is, but the better show of power is that he killed a dragon. If you remember in episode 21 they were talking about how crazy that would be
Oh and for everyone else in the books we thought and it was told and portraid that sylphie and fits were 2 different people. We didn't know until much much later (late part 2)
Your video is awesome. Youre the only honest reaction Ive found, and you seem to like the show and not just react to it. It's refreshing to see such a reaction!
13:37 Yes, they (Linia, Pursena) are older siblings of the two beast girls you guys saw back then in S1. And as stated in the anime, Lunia is the oldest daughter of Gyues, the chief warrior of the de-Doldia village. And Pursena is from A-Doldia village.
yes sylphy can do incantationless healing magic, but she did not do it when rudy hit her, the magic circle below them was intended to have barrier and healing magic ready. And the reason rudy cannot do incanationless healing is he cannot understand healing magic in a scientific standpoint. And about the teleportation labyrith, its quite sad they skipped on that info, basically the book contained more like a journal who escaped the labyrith alive, it is said that the labyrinth is dangerous because the traps inside were filled with magic circle that sends you to random places (sends you to unknown part of the labyrith, sends you to monster nest, separates you from allies, send you to dangerous traps, or sends you to an inescapable one).
Boys not being allowed to walk by the girls dorm was a rule made by the students, so it wasnt mentioned in the rule book. This was mentioned in the light novel
@@Kriae It was done because Linia and Pursena stole Ariel's underware and dumped it in the boys dorm as a way to bully her in order show their dominance. The rule was made to make sure that boys don't steal underware again or stalk them. This happened in the previous academic year. Rudeus suggests after this part to have a plaque installed that states this rule.

Quick info on the first time we see Sylphie healing herself from the LN. It brushes over it, but both Rudy and Sylphie were actually standing on top of a Saint-Level Healing Circle mixed in with a Saint-Level Magic Barrier. The magic barrier is supposed to block or reduce the attack power of a spell and the healing spell is supposed to automatically heal any wounds when attacked. Rudy decides to not aim for Fitz's head since he doesn't know if the barrier could heal mortal/severe wounds, so he goes for scrapping his cheek instead. Rudy's attack was so strong that not only did it pass through the barrier, it also hit the Magic resistant wall behind Sylphie, which is supposed to absorb emperor class or higher magic. The Healing Barrier then heals Sylphie a bit after being scratched and knocked down. It implies that the magic barrier would've been too late in healing Sylphie if Rudy did end up aiming for the head. Later, after the whole situation with the pantsu, Sylphie does in fact heal Rudy with incantationless magic. She's known how to do this ever since Zenith taught her healing magic and how it worked back in Rudy's village. Anyone that are 10 yrs or younger have an easier time learning incantationless magic for any discipline. However, Rudy never learned because he felt he couldn't understand how it works since he never learned any medical training back in our world. So he inadvertently placed a mental block on himself for learning incantationless healing magic instead of simply accepting that magic in itself is the catalyst used to do anything you want in this world. Rudy is too rational for his own good xD
It was mentioned quite early on in the novel so I don't think it's a spoiler but more of a cut content, though the anime might reveal it in the future - Yes, Sylphie can use incantationless healing. Apparently while Rudy was away, Zenith began teaching her healing magic and she started being able to do it without incantations. You guys didn't mention it in the discussion but it seems like Anna caught it during the scene as she reacted to it, but when Rudy was being surrounded by the girls and being trash talked, it reminded him of his trauma being bullied. And it was really great that Sylphie saved him from being bullied this time. It's a nice callback to when Rudy saved Sylphie from being bullied when they were kids. I'm also glad that you loved how Sylphie's eyes could be barely seen from her shades. I really loved that detail too and you could make out Sylphie's facial expression from there.
For all the development Rudy has had, he still takes people at face value upon 'first' meetings, making it totally in his character not to question that Fitz is a man.
31:15 How I saw it, It might not have been Sylphie doing the healing after the duel, it might have been from the magic circle on the ground beneath them, not sure. The second time with Rudy's wrist injury might have also just been that the incantation was said just before the transition.
Well, Silphy does indeed knows incantationless healing magic, in this aspect she is a lot better than Rudeus. It would be a major difference in the Orsted fight if he could heal himself without incantation.
Man, i'm wonder how much you 2 have a knowledge about what could arrive soon or some characters that we left behind, without read the novels... You 2 guys falled in love with Mushoku Tensei as i did it ❤ -Also, i wanted a Ending's reactions too, the Ending song did touch my heart😢 cuz i'm team Sylphie 💚🤍😅. Cheers from Colombia 🇨🇴. I love your reactions so much❤
Actually if you analyzed and doesn't miss any detail they can predict alot of things. But they maybe miss the detail about nanahoshi. Actually we get information about nanahoshi even on Episode 1 and 2
Rudy hasnt plateaued he just THINKS he has plateaued via self study. He thinks since he hasnt progressed and learned more saint tier magic or above but thats not the only way to get stronger as a magician :^)
22:40 in terms of magic skills he can use, he has stagnant for long (over a decade). But he has improved steadily in his effective combat ability. For instance, stone cannon, one of his most favorite magic skills. It's only an intermediate-class attack magic, but he is way better at using it now (in speed, strength, control) than he was at his age 7 or 10.
The circle they are on actually automatically heals any in it when injured. That's how she heals. But yes she also can do chant less healing unlink rudeus. Also in the LN his stone cannon is actually so strong it broke the barrier of thr circle and crack the magic resistant wall
The school arc is important for multiple reasons regarding the main story-plot development. One of them is that the school arc is the period when Rudeus makes social connection with most (not all, though) of the real gang of the MT story, who will have deep life-long involvement with him. In this sense, the school arc is a setting up part of the story as well.
Heyo, let me clear some things for you guys. Worry not, as the information I'm about to share are only cut content or dialogue. Covering the events of LN Volume 8: Chapter 2 to 3. -It took Rudeus and Elinalise a couple of months to travel to the Magic City of Sharia from where they parted ways with Sol's party. -During the journey, Redeus found out about Elinalise's curse. Anime explained it, but let me elaborate. Elinalise's body needs to take male "seeds" in a set number of days, othereise her body starts to weaken and she experience ramping pains all over her body. -Elinalise did also enroll at the University, but unlike Rudeus, she is only a general student. -Fitz did not cast any healing magic. The magic circle seen under them contains healing magic of very high potency, saint-tier (or was it king-tier? Sorry blanking on this specific one). -During the Rudeus and Fitz's mock battle, Rudeus actually launched a pretty strong charged stone cannon. One so strong that it can instantly kill any average or above average person when directly hit. -Rudeus' orginally targeted Fitz's head as he intended to all-out during the mock battlle. Luckily, he decided against it and purposefully missed the stone cannon by a few centimeters besides his head. Impact was still strong enough that it broke the wall behind Fitz. -Rudeus did mention knowing Gyes and Gustav while speaking to Linia, in which Linia reacted a certain way. -The cafeteria where Zanoba and Rudeus ate was sypposed to be 3 floors in the novel, in which Rudeus and Zanoba ate at the third floor where human royalty and nobility are. Guess they changed that in the anime. -Fitz was so adamant at Goliade (gorilla girl) and her girls to back-off not just because he (she) knew how powerful Rudeus is. According to Fitz, had Goliade engaged Rudeus there, and Redeus sctually tried to fight back seriously, he could have killed all the girls in Goliade's group. Pretty grim. Yeah, in the span of 2 chapters, the novel slightly hinted at the possibility of Rudeus killing his fellow students. Yikes. Not fhat he will tho, lol (OR WILL HE? HMMM). Imma be back next week for episode 6 as well. Hopefully, this helped to some degree.
> It took Rudeus and Elinalise a couple of months to travel to the Magic City of Sharia from where they parted ways with Sol's party. In the LN, there is no explicit mention on how long the journey took them... the only certain thing we know is it took at least more than a week.
Sylphie has been using air magic for a while, yet in the deul she started summoning a water ball, which is the first spell Rudi taught her. She was probably intending to use it as a reminder, but the disturb magic broke it.
RE: the curse - this isn't really a spoiler, in the novels it was first discussed when roxie was partied with her, and it was discussed several times, so the details are well known, the anime cut those convos out. she is cursed.
32:00 It’s because of her charisma. She’s pretty much the most charismatic character in the series. It’s literally the only reason she’s able to get supporters in her quest for the crown. Well, that, and her kindness.
She is deeply hurt because she expected him to recognize her imediately. She has difficulties telling him who she is for 1 year or so until she is forced almost by her friends Ariel and Luke to show Rudeus who she is.
32:30 So what made you associate the Teleportation Labyrinth and Zenith? Other than the obvious fact that the book is presented like a chekov's gun, much like almost everything named in this series? "There are so many labyrinths in this world, I imagine." It's explained in the book: they're essentially genius loci type monsters. A place becomes oversaturated with mana (a cave, a deep forest, etc.) and it becomes "alive." It develops a crystal in its depths and starts growing deeper. Soon it starts attracting monsters who'll subsist on the mana therein and it will digest any dead things into mana; one of these monsters will nest near the core crystal and becomes its guardian. A bit afterward adventurers start coming in for both monster parts and the magic stones that are cropping up within its depths. If any of them die, their bodies are either turned into undead monsters or are consumed by the labyrinth itself. Their equipment become magic items with randomized effects. You might get a wizard hat that spills water whenever you take it off, a box that spews endless billows of smoke, a pair of boots that stink when you don them, or a sword that grows duller if you try to cut softer things, etc. The magic items, the magic stones and monster parts make labyrinth diving VERY profitable. Also very dangerous. Roxy has solo-dived a few labyrinths, earning her fame, but leaving her empty-handed in terms of the goal she had in those dives.
Fun novel fact. (No spoilers) While i cant remember if sylphy dropped the pantsu on purpose or not. The reason "he" is aloud to be in the girls area is because its her job to handle ariels laundry. Why you ask? Well, because people keep trying to steal her pantsu!
It wasn't mention, it is not that Fitz/Silphy healing herself incantationless, the circle in the floor where they fight has a healing spell to prevent students harming each other during duels.
to do incantationless spell casting you have to be able to picture the spell and what it does clearly in you mind. because of video games and science, rudy can do all the attack spells as well as combining multiple attack spells for different effects. but rudy doesnt really know about medicine so thats why he cant do it without incantation. while in the villiage and while rudy was teaching eris, zenith taught sylphie healing and detox magic as well as getting her to help heal people around the village. so sylphie can do incantationless healing because she understands the medicine and how the spells work. the one big advantage rudy has over sylphie is that hes been fighting for the past 5 years pretty much constantly in real world situations. he has a TON more experience then her. he also has a lot more mana then her because hes been using it constantly since he was like 3. so he got an extra 2 years to expand his mana pool over her. ps. the dueling place where rudy and sylphie fought has autohealing and barriers around it. so sylphie didnt actually heal herself in that situation(but she could if she wanted to)
in the light novel while they were escaping from the palace on their way to Ranoa she had to kill like 20 assassins, so she might be on par or better as far as fighting people and not monsters. Spoiler: Dont forget that rudeus is afraid of killing people, so in that sense Sylphie might have advantage in pvp.
Your confusion (Anna's especially) when the opening started playing is what I'm sure how most people felt. It's very strange seeing a proper OP for Mushoku Tensei. I also don't know how this show was able to connect mostly everyone back at the university perfectly, this show's writing just doesn't stop surprising me, I love this anime so much.
I dont think these guys read comments but for other people who want to know why fitz didnt just say they were sylphy was because at this time of the novels we didnt even know fitz was sylphy it was revealed quite a bit later on into the school arc that fitz was sylphy
Yes, Sylphy can heal without incantations, but that wasn't her healing herself during that mock battle with Rudy. They were standing in a magic circle that automatically heals any injuries that they may sustain. It wasn't explained in the anime, but in the manga, I think Jenius cuts his finger to demonstrate.
Some skipped content from the light novel regarding Elinalise's curse: When she sleeps with a man, her body takes their seed and turns it into a magic crystal, which she then sort of gives birth to. These crystals are loaded with mana and are highly coveted for powering magical implements, so she sells them for tons of money. Because of this, she's pretty loaded, and she can easily afford the tuition of a few Asuran gold coins for the Magic University.
Fun fact, in the light novel, we don't know that Fitz is Sylphy, he was introduced as a white haired elf that lost his parents and beloved master and can do enchantless magic, so we weren't sure that its sylphy until later.
I so much love op, and the bird allegories in it. If you look closely, there is 4 birds, blue leading to university, red that flyes away and green transforming to a white, needless to say whom they represent.
31:20 She can, but she wasnt supposed or didnt heal on the duel, Originally the way the director described the duel was that it had restrictions on how much magic could be used and it had safety measures to ensure people didnt die by healing them upon taking damage (hence all the drawings on the floor) although the way it was described in the novel was more of like a isolated tubes/rooms Rudy wasnt sure if this was actually true and decided against going all in and went with his earth missiles on like half power, and upon seeing how unprotected sylphy actually was and the damage she took from that he thought he could had actually killed her on the spot had he gone harder. But back to the healing incantantioless magic, Its because Rudy doesnt have a understanding of how healing works, He didnt study atonamy or medical classes before his reincarnation and thats why he cant do it, but for sylphy is simpler because she did take some lessons when she was a kid and also she doesnt have real world knowledge so things can be simpler for her. Also back on the rudeus vs orsted encounter, It was something that orsted was curious as well, Which is why he asked if he chose to not heal himself or coulnt for some reason. Rudeus power is much higher than the average mage partly because he thinks so much deeply when casting a spell, which is why something as basic as the Earth Missile was able to damage Orsted, Its because when casting he was thinking on adding more velocity into the spinning while making layers to make it overlap and stronger and a bunch of other things that most mages wouldnt think about. Same thing happened with his last attack, He pretty much made a nuke by using science into his otherwise fireball spell which is knowledge that people of this world dont have
- The coloured bird in the opening is a metaphor for Silphy, Roxy, and Eris by their respective colour. - Fitz didn't introduce herself to Rudeus even though she is excited to finally see him because before the fight, she saw Rudeus together with Elinalise and Elinalse is acting intimate with him. She though Rudeus already have significant other and already move on in life. Him don't recognize her during duel doesn't help either. - Professor is the one healing FItz by channeling mana to the saint rank healing magic circle on the floor during their duel. Also, the fight arena are protected with very strong magic barrier, Rudeus stone bullet pierce through the barrier and slam on magic resistance wall behind it, is what shocked the professor and others. - Dorm rules is some sort of unwritten rules where you learn from word of mouth. - Rudeus are way stronger than cliff in every area of the magic except for Divine and barrier magic. - Elinalise is rich by the way due to her curse (not gonna spoil why), that tuition fees to enroll in Ronoa university is all but pocket change for her.
32:30, Animus's book on a teleportation labyrinth dungeon plays an important role in the story-plot devlopment later. Remind that action-adventure is one of the main elements of the MT story as well, along with others.
I found someone on Reddit who didn't watch the Goblin Slaying special and simply commented "Cliff, magical genuis, whose he... He knows Eris? Huh? What." as one would expect.
One thing that isn't explained at all in the series is how Rudy views his power and how the system of ranking just doesn't apply to him. So to explain, Cumulonibus is a Saint Level Water Magic that has control over the water, the air, the temperature and is spread over a large area of effect, it's incredibly powerful and is actually a weapon of war. It requires a lot of control over the magic and is thought to take a great deal of Mana to cast. To be seen as a Saint Level Water Mage, you have to cast it and keep it running for an hour, it's very mentally taxing and has you need to constantly keep the weather in control. Rudy saw the initial spell that Roxy did which incorporates that, then used his knowledge of air pressure, the way heat rises and how storms work to insert an additional thing in the spell after the initial casting that made it automatic, it doesn't need a great amount of Mana from him and would last as long as he needs it to. This is what sets Rudy apart from literally every other Mage on the face of the world. His Stone Cannon is an Advanced Level spell, but he tweaks the projectile in many different ways, hardening the outside incredibly, fine-tuning it to as sharp a point as possible, occasionally making the projectiles hollow inside. No one else knows he does this as he's not explained it or given reasons why a hollow bullet would be deadlier than a dense one, or how a refined shape and harder outer layer would make it more deadly and he definitely doesn't explain that he adds rotation to the projectiles he shoots each time. It's an Advanced Level spell but with everything that Rudy adds to it, the spell is on the Emperor Level. That Fireball spell he fired at Orstead in the Red Wryms lower jaw last season was a low level God-Tier Fire destruction spell and if he hadn't been mortally wounded with his current skill, if he had time for it the spell would be mid-range God-Level Magic and that would've obliterated Orsteads Wyrmgate ...and himself, Ruijerd, Eris and Nanahoshi as well. Orstead would've been very angry and somewhat injured. So Rudy saying he's Plateau'd is him not really understanding the depth of his potential power, under the right circumstances he could destroy and entire city in a second with little loss of power for himself. He's a 'VERY' dangerous mage and is only held back by his own self-doubt and belief that his skills are always lacking. Though admittedly he is very lacking in healing magic, detoxifcation magic, summoning magic and Divine magic. He has never had the opportunity to even begin to learn it.
Love where Anna's mind was regarding Cliff potentially being a rival for Rudy. I think everything she said made a lot of sense, but she forgot one crucial element. Rudy had as much mana as Lapalis when he was a child. He truly is on another level. The only person who can challenge him here at this school currently is himself.
In the light novel Rudeus tells Linia and Pursena that he knows both Gyese and the chief and that he stayed over the rainy season in the Doldia village. They leave him alone due to their respect for their father and the leader of the clans. You should definetely read the light novels all your questions will be answered and you will better understand the characters.
27:22 What do you mean “for some reason”? Jenny’s said they teach non-magical subjects too, and there aren’t really any age limits because there are races with various lifespans and it’s a university, so adults are expected to attend. 27:24 She can easily afford it. The woman is loaded for an adventurer.
Eps 8 explained how notos family leader Paul brother is very unlikeable and people want for Paul or Rudy to remove him from power and in eps 23 how alphonse said lord of notos Pilemon want Eris as his mistress if we connect the dot Pilemon is Paul brother so Rudy and Luke is first cousin
Yessssss Mushoku!!!!! The all the episodes go by way too fast I just can't get enough of my fill. If only we can get episodes that are an hour long... I would be so happy. But here we go Rudy questioning his sexuality arc! They also made Ranoa University look so much better than I imagined love it! Oh I also recommend another anime called 86, it's a very underrated anime that really draws you in and rewards you for picking up small details that aren't said.
Others have likely said this but in the LN Rudy tells Linia about meeting her father etc. Likely left out for screen time or they plan to add it later. I don't like this change unless they manage to fit it in soon.
There’s a magic circle under where they were fighting. That’s what healed Sylphy immediately after their fight. Don’t forget this was a school test. Not an actual fight. At the last scene, she already heals Rudy, they cut her spell casting.
about Sylphy not telling him right away - i think people forget Sylphy and Rudy were together for 2 years and hes been gone for 8 years at this point. theyve both completely lived their own lives ever since he was sent away. so she probably needs to find the right moment to let him in on the secret that shes a bodyguard for the princess and took on a new identity to dedicate her life to this cause.
I know you guys avoid the comments for spoilers, but in the LN (I read the corresponding chapters after each ep) he actually does tell them he knows their dad and grampa amd makes doubly sure to tell them how kind their dad was to him (most likely as a bit of "don't bully me" leverage. Cat girl's first reaction was almost dumbfounded. Other than that it wasn't touched on yet. Likely wherever it ends up touched on they'll just add the line from rudy. Oh, and pursena tries saying something mean in human but it is just the word "fuck. . Stinky"
I get what you mean about eris, because rudy and eris actually developed an organic romance over years vs him just kinda ending up with sylphie. I guess we gotta wait to see if they develope this as well as the did with eris. Though i think each love interest is almost an aspect of romance. Sylphie is friendship, eris is passion and roxy is kinda mutual learning teacher/student. Probably what the three colored birds are all about. Who will he choose.
Regarding the current Asura political situation, i'll give you a clue from earlier episodes to refer to. Remember what Sauros said during Rudeus' 10th birthday in season 1 episode 8....
When cliff was listing all the things he was good at, Rudeus thought cliff learned all that in school. But it actually took him his entire life. Rudy says “impressive, it took me 2 years to learn all that” which came off as snobbish in cliffs’ perspective
Welcome to the “I’m questioning my sexuality” mini-arc.
Oh, a spoilering a-hole as a first comment again. Nice.
You can call it ”Am i gay arc” too😅
I hope it’s brief. It’s not that I have anything against it. Not at all. I just want him to overcome his ED and trauma from being scared of women. Cuz that is a very relatable thing to young men and not rly touched upon in stories. I hope that makes sense lol.
@@troyboi7662
That will likely happen by the end of cour 1 at this pace(around ep 11 or 12) though it might end a little after that
“Is my dick broken because I actually like femboys?”
Well, not all the happiness, murdering his wife and a baby if I recall correctly...
@@MortalMercuryhe couldn't control his strength no? Also zanoba has like a mini thorfinn arc of his own of redemption he's one of my favorites
@@MortalMercury as most characters in this series, he has his flaws, however he proves to be an amazing friend and mentor / father figure, he might be clumsy and a bit weird but I love his character.
@@Lorelei_saphlor Oh he could, he killed his wife intentionally
@@SynxSP In the first season she was doing water spells without incantation after Rudy taught her
@@SynxSP Now I might be completely wrong on this, but I think the "understanding of science", is as much of a crutch as it helps.

Normal elemental magic from known spells can be learned incantionless just by feeling the magic flow through your body and copying it like Rudy in the first episode which is likely how he taught Sylphy.

@@dallama2616 Yes, deffinately.

It’s funny how you mention that it would’ve made sense for Rudeus to mention he went to their village when they got introduced, because in the novel he actually did it.
I'm so glad you two are asking the right questions and doing a really fun analysis and prediction time.
They don't read comments.
No, Rudy’s regular rocks are not emperor class. It’s his super charged up rock bullet he fired at badigadi that’s emperor class.

I really love your reactions to this show. Always look forward to them.
yes sylphy can do incantationless healing magic, but she did not do it when rudy hit her, the magic circle below them was intended to have barrier and healing magic ready.
Understandable rule given that people like Paul almost seem commonplace in this world
@@Kriae It was done because Linia and Pursena stole Ariel's underware and dumped it in the boys dorm as a way to bully her in order show their dominance.

You're a wizard, Rudy.
i do really love rewatching these eps with you guys lol, i did same reaction when i watched it for the first time
BFF, grandma Elinalise is the MVP companion
4:45 Rudi's doing important work here in introducing the Absolute Territory into this world.
Mushoku tensei is my fave anime at the moment. I absolutely love it. So relatable.
31:15 How I saw it, It might not have been Sylphie doing the healing after the duel, it might have been from the magic circle on the ground beneath them, not sure.
The second time with Rudy's wrist injury might have also just been that the incantation was said just before the transition.
In the LN, specify that is a magic circle, you are right.
Well, Silphy does indeed knows incantationless healing magic, in this aspect she is a lot better than Rudeus. It would be a major difference in the Orsted fight if he could heal himself without incantation.
Thats true the first time was the magic circle but Sylphy actually does know incantationless healing magic too.
Man, i'm wonder how much you 2 have a knowledge about what could arrive soon or some characters that we left behind, without read the novels... You 2 guys falled in love with Mushoku Tensei as i did it ❤
-Also, i wanted a Ending's reactions too, the Ending song did touch my heart😢 cuz i'm team Sylphie 💚🤍😅. Cheers from Colombia 🇨🇴. I love your reactions so much❤
Actually if you analyzed and doesn't miss any detail they can predict alot of things. But they maybe miss the detail about nanahoshi. Actually we get information about nanahoshi even on Episode 1 and 2
I hope they will Read the light novel too
Rudy hasnt plateaued he just THINKS he has plateaued via self study.
Ah you uploaded this much earlier than I expected. And I'm going to enjoy this so much
1:26 she’s actually cursed
Another great reaction video! I loved the reactions and the discussion! Moar!
I think Silphy finds it funny that Rudy thinks she's a boy again and decided to see how long it takes for him to figure it out.
She is deeply hurt because she expected him to recognize her imediately. She has difficulties telling him who she is for 1 year or so until she is forced almost by her friends Ariel and Luke to show Rudeus who she is.
@@mihaibratosin9431 Would be a nice thing to not really spoil
3:22 Rudy may not have recognized Sylphie, but *she* recognized him in an *instant*
Finally someone highlighted the curses and the disturb magic.
(No spoilers)
While i cant remember if sylphy dropped the pantsu on purpose or not.
The reason "he" is aloud to be in the girls area is because its her job to handle ariels laundry.
Why you ask? Well, because people keep trying to steal her pantsu!
Thats why app the girls freaked out. This is an ongoing serial case
I love watching your reactions, you guys are great
It wasn't mention, it is not that Fitz/Silphy healing herself incantationless, the circle in the floor where they fight has a healing spell to prevent students harming each other during duels.
Love your guys content, thanks for it.
About ginger york, she was actually seen escorting lilia and aisha to paul back in season 1 ep 20
loved the react. After seeing this was eagerly waiting for you guys. Was sad tho. You didn't watch the end credits. I loved it. =]
to do incantationless spell casting you have to be able to picture the spell and what it does clearly in you mind. because of video games and science, rudy can do all the attack spells as well as combining multiple attack spells for different effects. but rudy doesnt really know about medicine so thats why he cant do it without incantation.
while in the villiage and while rudy was teaching eris, zenith taught sylphie healing and detox magic as well as getting her to help heal people around the village. so sylphie can do incantationless healing because she understands the medicine and how the spells work.
the one big advantage rudy has over sylphie is that hes been fighting for the past 5 years pretty much constantly in real world situations. he has a TON more experience then her. he also has a lot more mana then her because hes been using it constantly since he was like 3. so he got an extra 2 years to expand his mana pool over her.
ps. the dueling place where rudy and sylphie fought has autohealing and barriers around it. so sylphie didnt actually heal herself in that situation(but she could if she wanted to)
in the light novel while they were escaping from the palace on their way to Ranoa she had to kill like 20 assassins, so she might be on par or better as far as fighting people and not monsters.
Spoiler:
Dont forget that rudeus is afraid of killing people, so in that sense Sylphie might have advantage in pvp.
Great reaction and fantastic discussion. Y'all are fantastic!
It's not skipped until you can't fit it into narrative anymore, which is "desert". So it's still spoilers.
Fun fact, in the light novel, we don't know that Fitz is Sylphy, he was introduced as a white haired elf that lost his parents and beloved master and can do enchantless magic, so we weren't sure that its sylphy until later.
This was such a great episode!
The best school days is started
I so much love op, and the bird allegories in it. If you look closely, there is 4 birds, blue leading to university, red that flyes away and green transforming to a white, needless to say whom they represent.
31:20 She can, but she wasnt supposed or didnt heal on the duel, Originally the way the director described the duel was that it had restrictions on how much magic could be used and it had safety measures to ensure people didnt die by healing them upon taking damage (hence all the drawings on the floor) although the way it was described in the novel was more of like a isolated tubes/rooms
Rudy wasnt sure if this was actually true and decided against going all in and went with his earth missiles on like half power, and upon seeing how unprotected sylphy actually was and the damage she took from that he thought he could had actually killed her on the spot had he gone harder.
So to explain,
Cumulonibus is a Saint Level Water Magic that has control over the water, the air, the temperature and is spread over a large area of effect, it's incredibly powerful and is actually a weapon of war.
4:17 HER REACTION XD
Love where Anna's mind was regarding Cliff potentially being a rival for Rudy. I think everything she said made a lot of sense, but she forgot one crucial element. Rudy had as much mana as Lapalis when he was a child. He truly is on another level. The only person who can challenge him here at this school currently is himself.
best mushoku tensei reactors!
It's kinda funny how close that gorilla came to being nothing more then a stain on the ground.
In the light novel Rudeus tells Linia and Pursena that he knows both Gyese and the chief and that he stayed over the rainy season in the Doldia village. They leave him alone due to their respect for their father and the leader of the clans. You should definetely read the light novels all your questions will be answered and you will better understand the characters.
oh man you guys didn't react to the ED, the visuals are very heartwarming for me
The happiness in the thumbnail 😁
27:22 What do you mean “for some reason”? Jenny’s said they teach non-magical subjects too, and there aren’t really any age limits because there are races with various lifespans and it’s a university, so adults are expected to attend.
27:24 She can easily afford it. The woman is loaded for an adventurer.
Nice reaction and discussion!
The training fights take place on a circle that has instant healing. But yes, Sylphy can heal without incantation.
Actually...rudy did declared he went to the village, met gyes etc in that intro with renia.
Others have likely said this but in the LN Rudy tells Linia about meeting her father etc. Likely left out for screen time or they plan to add it later. I don't like this change unless they manage to fit it in soon.
Regarding magical tropes, the bit I most liked was that half-dozen of the girls who accosted Rudy had brooms. Push brooms.
There’s a magic circle under where they were fighting. That’s what healed Sylphy immediately after their fight. Don’t forget this was a school test. Not an actual fight.
At the last scene, she already heals Rudy, they cut her spell casting.
She CAN use healing magic without spells, we were told that in volume 5.
about Sylphy not telling him right away - i think people forget Sylphy and Rudy were together for 2 years and hes been gone for 8 years at this point. theyve both completely lived their own lives ever since he was sent away. so she probably needs to find the right moment to let him in on the secret that shes a bodyguard for the princess and took on a new identity to dedicate her life to this cause.
@AutoSave I'm sure you have figured it out already, but there in a ending sequence that you might want to react to. It is relevant to the story.
Oh, and pursena tries saying something mean in human but it is just the word "fuck. . Stinky"
19:43 That’s not a coincidence😉
I get what you mean about eris, because rudy and eris actually developed an organic romance over years vs him just kinda ending up with sylphie. I guess we gotta wait to see if they develope this as well as the did with eris.
Though i think each love interest is almost an aspect of romance. Sylphie is friendship, eris is passion and roxy is kinda mutual learning teacher/student.
Probably what the three colored birds are all about. Who will he choose.
I love that cliff actually rizzes the most badass girl in his mini-arc
10:41 演出的には、ギャグ風に描いているのに結構シリアスに受け止められていて、リアクションの違いが面白い
Regarding the current Asura political situation, i'll give you a clue from earlier episodes to refer to.
Remember what Sauros said during Rudeus' 10th birthday in season 1 episode 8....
As an anime only my guess for Lukes attitude is because he only knows of Rudeus' branch through rumors from the court .
This what i'vee been wait
