    Why the haters? Who cares how Eberhart does it. This is James Reed's episode. Kudos to Eberhart , he's one of my favorites as well but this fella has got some serious bone on the wall. I don't care if some of his hunts are "canned" hunts. The fact of the matter is that he has put an arrow or bullet through a ton of mature bucks. To kill just 1 booner is a lifetime accomplishment. Dude has made his life about hunting and fishing and his results tell me he's damn good at both so why the negativity? Take a peep at Roger Raglins trophy room. Amazing. Some of his are paid hunts as well I'm sure but he's a beast of a hunter. It doesn't take away from their accomplishments.

    • @TheInroad

      I know James and not all his deer are from "canned hunts" he puts in the time and work in. I know because I know the farm some of these deer came from. People are just hateful anymore and will try to find bad in everything. Its pathetic

    • @TheInroad
      @TheInroad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@rickiesparkman7353 It's not hateful. It's simple: if you have the arrogance to say, "That one was ONLY a 163 inch 10 pointer," then you should have the transparency to tell people where you shot them. Otherwise, newby hunters who are plowing in public lands have unrealistic expectations and a warped view of true hunting.

    • @Trollpro5150

      People are so jealous of this man it isn't funny they either hate on his business or his deer it's almost comical

    • @TheInroad
      @TheInroad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trollpro5150 no jealousy here. I’d personally don’t envy canned hunts. The issue is, when you’re arrogant enough to say “that’s ONLY a 163” 10 pointer than have the transparency to tell us where you shot them. Because it gives new hunters a skewed view of the sport and proper expectations. Fish in a barrel won’t attract the new hunters we need.

    10-20 years ago our deer clan used to hunt down there, we actually hunted one of the exact same ridges James hunted. He’d sometimes come visit us at camp, I knew he was a trophy hunter, and one time I even looked up in the woods and saw him in a stand so I tiptoed out. (1) I had no idea the bone the man had on the wall (2) I always thought we were hunting a pretty good area but we only ever took one real good one down there and (3) I couldn’t believe it when this vid started playing, I was in the midst of greatness. 60 deer over 160 inches in a 40-year hunting career? A 16 year old who has killed P&Y every year since age 11? Nonsense. These are atleast in part canned hunts or high fence deer farm kills.
    No experienced hunter buys that he is putting in the work required to slay 160 plus inch mature deer on this sort of schedule. Even if you did put in the work, I still don't think it's in any way realistic.

    • @J36-f6y
      @J36-f6y 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You obviously never hunted/lived in Southern Ohio? A 16 year old with SEVEN P&Y bucks is not that many if you hunt decently every year and a 22 year old with 12 P&Y bucks is also not that many?? Now as far as the 60 deer over 160 inches in a 40 year long career? I’m not sure because I haven’t made it that far but its very possible if you hunt at least 2 states a year. I’m 23 with 4 P&Y and 3 Ohio Big Bucks and I’ve been hunting since I was 14, its not that hard if you’re good and know what you’re doing, ESPECIALLY if you’re in Southern Ohio. Lighten up and do some research. Hill country in Ohio (Southern Ohio/Eastern Ohio) roughly takes up 30 percent of the state and within that 30 percent theres an average of 20-35 deer per square mile as opposed to farm country which is the greater of 70 percent, theres only about 10-20, so yes, when hunting your whole life in Southern Ohio, it is very possible.

    • @J36-f6y
      @J36-f6y 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And also, its 50 deer over 150 inches, you’ve made your case worse

    • @TheInroad
      @TheInroad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@J36-f6y At precisely 4:52 he says, "I've got 60 deer over 160 inches." There's my work cited, teach. I'm not denying that they killed the deer. They may have. I question if it was fair chase and in the grind of public land and normally managed parcels like everyone else.
      And yes, a 16-year-old with seven P&Y's is a lot, no matter where you are in the country. Saying "it's not that hard" is nonsense and an insult to people who have actually spent their lives chasing mature bucks. If it "weren't that hard" we wouldn't be doing it. And if it "weren't that hard" there wouldn't be a whitetail cribs episode highlighting it.
      Fact is, deer density isn't the issue (20-35 psq mile). Michigan has a higher deer density than that. The issue is 160-200" deer being killed more than once per year in a normal hunting scenario that everyone here is calling BS on.

    • @J36-f6y
      @J36-f6y 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheInroad so you’re saying if somebody hunts on private land which is 96 percent of Ohio, it means less than if he is on the remaining 3-4 percent of Public land in Ohio??? Most of us hunt private land and I’m not sure why you seem to think that its not fair chase? I’m sure there was a Booner at one point in time that was roaming Wayne National Forest and stepped foot on a private landowners land and got harvested, so now do you think thats not a fair chase buck?? Its not high fenced I know that much!! And you do realize that P&Y for whitetail deer is 125 inches, I hate to break it to you man but if know how to manage and hunt the right areas at the right time of the year, EVERY year...you’ll kill a P&Y buck in Ohio. I shouldn’t have said it wasn’t hard, we all know its hard, what I was saying more so that if you’re doing the right the thing and hunting smart, you’ll kill a buck no matter the size and it just so happens that here in Southern Ohio, where I’m from and where I hunt, 125 inches and greater is not an uncommon thing at all. And also take a look at the bag limits in Southern Ohio counties, compare THAT to the population OF the Southern Ohio counties and then think about the deer density. For instance Vinton County, Ohio is an amazing area for whitetail hunting. The county bag limit is 2 deer meaning you get a buck and a doe. Vinton County has literally 13,000 people within that county and its total area is roughly 415 square miles?? Thats a big area to only have a 2 deer bag limit. So basically what I’m saying is, theres a lot of deer that aren’t being harvested no matter if you’re from that county and hunt there or not. And maybe this dude is a bullshitter who honestly knows, but its the fact you think this is all impossible and bullshit, thats what I’m questioning. I know how lucky I am to be from where I am and to hunt where I hunt because I know when it comes to whitetails in Southern Ohio, we’ve naturally got it made.

      I say it’s very possible I’ve seen Mark Drury kill several gross booners in a single season like 4 to 6 in one season. He’s killed 2 in one week already this season. They are hunting similar areas and this guy said he hunted the one deer everyday for 15 days straight. He has a lot of money and can spend all the time he wants in some of the best areas in the world hunting and scouting for big bucks.
      Most of use can’t but dream of being able to hunt all season if we want and in the best big buck areas in the world.
