- Opening up central couloir for the season in Jackson Hole, early March 2023. Great snow, steep no-fall turns, and a mandatory exit air/cliff. This line is the epitome of a classic North American ski test-piece. Slow and steady on this one. In loving memory of the legendary Travis McAlpine.
And that's how you ski central! McAlpine would be stoked, you slayed that thing in awesome conditions. Well done Halvy and crew!
I can ski 99% of the terrain out there...this is in that 1%...more like .001%. Thanks for providing footage of somewhere I'll never be!
if you slide down it you can ski anything
@@Lukas-qf2uhI can definitely disprove that theory
Pucker. Especially that rock you have to clear. And the straightline just as you are nearly home free.
Love it, nicely skied!
the look of mountains near jackson is so unique and recognizable,
Looks absolutely intense!
YEES MY FRIEND, Those rocks are super crunchy
Epic !!!
That last little tight shot was sick.
That was INSANE!!!
Excellent skiing man! Very technical and great risk management. Pretty impressive!!
🙏much appreciated!
Last season end Feb/Early March I was on the bootpack to Pucker Face and I saw 3 guys
They all said something like “this runs for Travis McAlpine” and I forget but they might have been putting some sort of plaque to remember him. RIP to your friend Travis
🙏 thank you. Ya they put an ice ax memorial up on a rock. Travis was an absolute legend and great friend.
@@ryan_halverson Yeah I remember seeing them put that up. Guys like you, Travis, Darrell seeing everyone shred so hard in your guys Storm Show movies really inspired me totally changed my life
@@ryan_halverson I own all the movies and have watched all of them at least 7 times
@@stephenclark15 Heck ya thanks for the stoke! Stormshow and TGR inspired me in the earlier 2000's, then I moved up here and was so grateful to be able to team up w Darrell. Now we just need some more snow for this year!
@@ryan_halverson dude I know pray 4 snow!
Oh boy that looks scary haha
You might have more fun negotiating the parking lot and the awesome piles of pow....
Give another month to fill in like a highway
Auvalanchers and ski lift builders ever since WWII?
Brass balls!!
Standard run with H2O in Valdez AK. This guy is choking!
Blame the snowboarder for removing the top snow layer
You love snowboarders
Way to plow all the snow off so there’s nothing left for the next guy, gaper.
I bet he outskis you on ANY DAY
Lol. Ya ok.
You’d shit yourself as you tomahawked down the entire couloir. And there you’d be, covered in your own shit, waiting for your rescue helicopter.
Point those things downhill yo. You just screwed that run for anyone else who wanted it.
You gonna die if you send this one yo.
High consequence side slipping. Congrats but think I’ll pass.
That's as much surviving as skiing. Yikes.
Looked more like just... sliding down sideways, rather than skiing really.
Even that mandatory air at the end? This was brilliant sking, and managing the little slides :) I wish I had the skill and balls to do this run
Impressive. But chalky snow, danger for what. Wait for a real powder day 😊
If you're not sideways on this you're dead lol
I don't think there's much you can do to "ski" this run. Too steep and narrow. Looked like fun anyway.
Those are called hop turns. You can't carve down 50⁰ slopes like a resort run. Obviously you know nothing about skiing or snowboarding.
The risk isn't just to you if you fall...it's also to any would-be rescue/recovery team. What you're proving with this is that you're willing to put them at risk for your thrill-kick. To say skiing that line is "sick" is NOT a compliment.
Are you stupid? Stay on the bunny slopes then. This slope isn't closed therefore it can be skied.
The WORST type of"skiier", pushing snow off the mountain instead of having the skill to put together turns.
Like the french giving you shit for not speaking with a perfect accent.
I’m sure mcconkey and plake pushed a little snow at some point in their career.
possibly PRE-career.@@joro8604
You seriously critiquing this guy for technique on this couloir?
I wish I was good enough to be that bad. Looking forward to seeing your perfect effort.
It starts by getting off the couch.@@bertiesmith3021
