We have a 2022 Globetrotter 23 FBT which we tow with a 2019 Toyota Tundra 5.7L V8. We started out with a Nest, found out quickly that it was too small. Traded in for a 19 flying cloud corner bed with bunk. Better than the Nest, but still was a tad too small for us two with 2 dogs. We love the Globetrotter trim level, and the 23 is the largest Airstream that our Tundra was rated to tow. We love the bathroom being all inclusive (shower, toilet, & sink in one compartment), plus it’s on the opposite side of the trailer from the beds. As we were watching this video, we both agreed that’s if we were ever to go full timing, it would have to be in a Classic, which of course would involve getting a bigger truck. We only “glamp” about 2-3 times per year, going out for anywhere from 1-2 weeks. We are sold on always having an Airstream travel trailer!
Those are five great questions to ask. However, we need to send some love to our wet bath... If you think about it, all Airstreams are small spaces. The space for a dedicated shower is used - at best - 5 minutes or less each person per day and in reality, probably every other day. The space that would have been allocated to a shower in our 22' went to the kitchen which we use all the time. In reality, they make engineering sense to us. Safe travels!
Great comment and very valid points regarding the benefits of the wet bath. The great thing about Airstream is that they make a variety of models and floor plans for all types of needs and camping styles. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
I’m partial to the globetrotter. The European modern interior is the nicest looking, imo. I like the curved storage upper doors. Very sleek, plus you can’t see thru it like you can with the plexiglass sliders. Minimalist feel.
Airstreams are great. It would be great if airstream made the bed configurations reversible to enable both the twin beds to convert to queen bed and back, therefore Adjust your bed configuration prior to leaving for your trip. Airstream 22-25 feet floor plan configurations are the most usable and affordable airstream selections for the mostly/seasonal halftime RV'ers. Love my 22fb Caravel towed with a Tundra.
The twin/queen conversion is an interesting idea. I am sure there would be many current and future Airstream owners interested in that type of configuration (we would be). Thanks for watching and safe travels.
Drove a 2022 Bambi 20FB for a year. The sleeping situation was unbearable for us (wifey and I). Traded it in on a Flying Cloud 30RBQ. Couldn't be happier.
I didnt do my homework. I am anytime, going longer, 23foot queen, single traveler and still running out of room. Need to slim back bigtime. Started with a range rover, did ok upgraded to a v10 excurson and love it. With room to spare..
This is helpful about choices. Teetering on the 20x or another 20footer. solo explorer deets for me. At first the 20x. but now second thoughts. I'd like to have use of both exits but having the bed up full time seems to get in the way of flowing in an out of the back. would prolly like to see bed set ups. I think one couple had the bed set up going across shaped in twins perhaps one twin might work going across leaving room to exit both sides of the 20x. the 22's seem a bit awkward just to have the bathroom in the back. I can prolly manage a CB or preferably a FB. If I opt out of a 20x to another 20 footer. I think the 3 inch lift would work. I'm not really focused on national parks I'm more focused on off grid settings. Once in a while rallies ok but as social reclusive as I am I'll Cleary stand out in the crowd. Brian
Brian, thanks for watching and the comments. Sounds like you are on the right track in deciding which Airstream will best meet your needs. Safe travels and happy New Year.
I have a Caravel and want to move to an International, but will avoid all that have front end storage. Seems that is the cause of front end separation.
@sacredstonecards9051 …I am sure that could be the case. That said, we try to follow 70 deg weather 😎 and avoid the cold 🥶 if possible. Good luck and safe travels.
A solid camper/t, trailer would be nice. I have a very old Kit trailer, used only as a base camp for a project, just as well I don't tow it much, it is loose, as they say, and was a constant leak problem.
We have a 2022 Flying Cloud 25FBQ. We find that it is the perfect size: plenty of interior space, yet small enough to fit on most campsites. We really liked the International as well, except for the upper cabinets with the translucent sliding doors. We prefer not to be able to see what is inside our cabinets. As pointed out in the video, all Airstreams are very nice with unparalleled quality of built and finishes. Good video.
We were on the AS train when just recently looking to upgrade. We loved absolutely everything we saw about them online and actually customized one and had the dealer almost order it UNTIL we started reading stories about how terrible the cushions were for the dinettes. So we found a local dealer with a few in stock. I'll tell you what, I have no idea how AS owners deal with these terribly uncomfortable seats. Even the Pottery Barn version couch isn't comfortable. And I know the Classic 30' has a "couch" but we do not want a trailer that large. Sounds silly, but that was the deal breaker for us, 100%. We're done being uncomfortable in our first 3 RVS... I also felt like the bathroom was like being in an airplane. I don't just understand the hype anymore, we're sorely disappointed. Airstream needs to do better and offer recliners and real couches. And yes I know there are specialty shops that do this, but I'm not paying 100g's just to rip out dinettes and pay more $$ for new furniture. BUT, I did find out from AD corporate, there are some shops that can order the shell from AS and then they work with you to design the entire interior. That's our long term goal but for now, we found the absolute perfect trailer for us with comfortable seating at a fraction of the cost. Resale value means nothing to me at this point....
Thanks for watching and sharing your comments. You provided many great points and insights about RV shopping and AS in general. We hope you find the RV of your dreams and enjoy many years of adventure and safe travels.
The only issue I'm stuck on with an Airstream is the seating. The seating doesn't look comfortable enough to spend 3 hours in. Our current 5th wheel has 2 recliners but I will say the 5th wheel is poorly made and I think the newer ones are even worse.
Seating can be a challenge in an Airstream. For us it hasn’t been a big issue, but I have considered removing the dinette and replacing it with two recliners.
THIS is the primary reason we did not buy an airstream. We went to the dealer last week just to sit on them and it was absolutely disappointing. The prices are already insane and I think it's ridiculous to spend all that money to rip out a new dinette and spend more money on a new configuration. The only option is to go for a 30 or 33 foot trailer that has an actual couch. We do not want a trailer that long.
In our Airstream, visitation rights come with either a Queen or Twin bed floor plan 🤣. As for the videos, thanks for the encouragement. We can only hope to be half as funny as your videos.
Hey Rick and Lisa - We have been watching for a while and like your content. We are transitioning from a 30' Flying Cloud to a 25' Trade Wind FBT! Where were you guys camping for this video? It looks like the FamCamp over at JAX. I am retired Air Force so we stay at FamCamps as much as we can. We really like your new covered area for your AS and the road you installed. Am I guessing correctly that your place in in SC? I have a sister in Columbia and am originally from NC. We now have a home (basecamp) in Tennessee. We will get our TW sometime in March '24. Cheers! Brian & Brandelyne
Hi Brian - In this video we were staying at Pelican Roost RV Park at Mayport Naval Station. It is a very nice area with great access to the local beaches. Our homebase is located in SC and we are excited to have our Airstream airport completed. Thanks for watching and safe travels.
We were both very impressed with the Basecamp 20 and can see why it is the best selling Airstream model and floor plan. However, our favorite is our current model/floor plan (27FBT). That said, if we were ever to upgrade to a larger Airstream it would be the 30FB w/office. That assumes our TH-cam channel requires a dedicated office space 🤣
As a Professional Driver.... On your tow vehicle etc, What ever the manufacture claims on towing LBS. Subtract 10-20%. So if they claim 12,000 towing? BE safe 10,000 take 1-2k off. People don't think/forget it is EZ for a trailer to tell your vehicle WHERE IT WANTS TO GO!!
Wife and I attended that show last year while visiting our daughter in the area. There were no Airstreams there. We were disappointed in the show overall.
We were a little disappointed in the limited variety of Airstreams at the show as well, but we still had a good time. I can only assume the recent RV show in Tampa and the rainy weather impacted the turnout for this show.
G-man…looking at some of my other video footage, it appears the MSRP for the 27FBT w/rear hatch was priced at $133K (+/-). Just know these prices are dealer specific and subject to change. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and safe travels.
Tow vehicle 23 and below 1/2 ton, 25-27 3/4 Ton, 30-33 Full Ton. This is my recommendation, no pulling a 25 with a half ton. There will be instant regret with that setup.
Thanks for the comment. I’ve always thought the 25’ AS was in the gray area between a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton TV. It really comes down to the specific truck. However, I would likely agree with your recommendation and error on the side of caution and lean toward a 3/4 ton. Safe travels.
To clarify, every National and State park will have different accommodations for trailer lengths. Some parks have made changes over the years to allow for larger rigs > 25’ but many have not. As such, rigs over 25’ might find it difficult to find campsites in many National and State parks. If camping in National and State parks is important to you, then you may want to consider Airstreams on the smaller size. Hope this helps. Safe travels
Agree that Airstream isn’t for everyone. That is why there are so many RV options to choose from. We hope you find the right RV for your needs and can make some great camping memories. Safe travels.
@@thewrightlife …I already have a great trailer. I was just stating an opinion. You can buy a LOT more luxury and comfort for the same money as an Airstream. It’s like buying designer jeans that don’t fit. Ha ha. I think you need more luck than I do! Happy camping!

I've heard a lot of great comments on the 30RBQ. For us, we have been very happy with our 27FB international. Never felt too big or too small.
We pull our 30' with a 2022 Ram 2500 Cummins, which has a towing capacity of 19,980lbs. Plenty of towing power and then some.
I think that is a great set-up. I don't think you will ever have a problem with towing or braking. Safe travels

Are the walls cold because they are metal?
We don’t thinks so because they have insulation in them, but we don’t routinely touch the walls to see how they feel (hot or cold).
@@thewrightlife Thank you. One review said the metal was cold by the bed headboard.
